La Principauté de Monaco est, avec une superficie de 1,95 km², après le Vatican, le second État indépendant le plus petit du monde. Située au bord de la mer Méditerranée, enclavée dans le territoire de la France et proche de l'Italie, Monaco est aussi le pays le plus densément peuplé au monde en 2004.
