More acid eaten paper[edit]

Request: These are images scanned from a copy of Cassell's history of England which perished, untimely, in a fire in 2006, somewhat wrecking my collection - I now have volumes 2 - 8, but no volume 1 :( ... all somewhat yellowed. There are three more which I might bring over from en.wikipedia shortly. Right now there are nine listed. I appreciate the "not too many" admonition, but I thought as these all have the same source & problem, they might be best dealt with as a job-lot. The last image, as a little bonus for whatever technique is used, is a colour image with the same underlying yellowing. Never let it be said that I underestimate your talents ;). Please get them back to a semblance of white paper; thanks. Tagishsimon (talk) 20:14, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Betula pubescens Ljungdalen August 2011.jpg[edit]

Request: When I nominated the image for QI, I received the following comment: The white fringes probably strengthened by sharpening could be fixed in photoshop (if you just have). Using some darkening brush with the sky color would most probably do the trick. I dont have photoshop, and I do not know how I can fix it. Ankara (talk) 12:01, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s): The sky is already rather dark on a CRT monitor with proper gamma adjustment. If anything, I'd increase the brightness slightly. Request: Image appears to have a lot of vetical stripes all over (thumb and gallery view, too). I used Google Chrome (latest version). Historical maps of Europe in 1911 and 1914 by William R. Shepherd[edit]

Stale

Request: Restore these images. Flatten out the vertical creases in both images. The 1911 map may be a bit too desaturated. Colors could be adjusted in the 1914 map as well. Clean up the noise and artifacts. The 1911 image, which is of better quality, is very similar to the 1914 image and could be used to help restore the details in the 1914 map. The original images (pre-whitening) are also available. Yebellz (talk) 14:42, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

Mad staring eyes...[edit]

Request: I found this in Category:Images with red-eye. This image is used on the en.wikipedia Margaret Thatcher page, but minimal scrutiny shows the poor young conservatives have glowing white pupils making them look like scary monsters. It's a poor quality image, but if you could deal with the eyes, that'd be great. If you can fix anything else - there seems to be noise of some sort in the image, but I don't know if it's redeemable. We don't have an abundance of late-era Thatcher in Category:Margaret Thatcher, sadly. Tagishsimon (talk) 21:14, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Opinions?[edit]

(images moved to bottom)

I took this picture of a heron and fish jumping. I tilted the camera approximately 39.483 degrees. Does it look okay as it is, or should the rotation be fixed somehow? One method I tried already is rotating the whole image layer and then filling in the blank areas with white. Others I have thought of are an oval crop and rotate, possibly with feathered edges and different fill in textures for the background. I could also copy/paste water, tree, and rock sections to fill in the gaps after rotating. I can probably do it myself in GIMP, but I would just like opinions on how it would look best.--Canoe1967 (talk) 19:25, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How about this? Rotated, cropped boldly and copy/pasted water roughly. You can copy/paste water more elaborately. ―― Phoenix7777 (talk) 00:04, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Considering the educational purpose of wikimedia commons, pictures should be rectangled in almost every case. (Filling the whole resolution of the canvas with image content. Borders and oval crops shouldn't be used.) The solution mentioned by you and visualized by Phoenix7777 seems perfect to me. --McZusatz (talk) 08:47, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question about distortion[edit]

Request: See how photos one and two show a distorted tower? In reality it's a straight and narrow tower (see photo three or Category:Largs Pencil). Is it possible to make the tower appear straight? I'd like a nice quality picture of the tower for an article I'm working on, but the only pictures that show the tower straight are from far away, and aren't all that great quality wise. What is the term for this optical illusion? Is there a GIMP-plugin that tackles instances like this (or some other free software)? Would a straightened picture look any good, or is it better to just leave them be and get a photo taken farther back?--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 10:03, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

The technical term for this is "perspective distortion". If in the future you want to try it yourself, here is a GIMP tutorial--Vera (talk) 12:27, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is a common problem in photography. They make special lenses to compensate. *http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perspective_control_lens

Brilliant! That looks great. I'm not going to push for another; the weather was slightly inclement this AM, but I've a bunch of photos of Stockbridge library I'm about to upload (some done already, went earlier in the day this time). --Brian McNeil / talk 09:46, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is the {{MakePanorama}} template for requests like these btw. Also, when uploading a lot of pictures, I recommend using Commons:Commonist. When I went through your uploads I also created File:McDonald Road library, Edinburgh-006.jpg. Hugin is an open source stitch program you could use yourself. Also, when you are uploading such a large number of images, it might be prudent to create a new category when there are >3 images of a subject. --Vera (talk) 13:56, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Stockbridge library[edit]

Request: I've visited, and photographed the library on two occasions. Amongst the 31 uploaded photos are several consecutive sets to - hopefully - be converted.

I'd also welcome any advice/tips on how best to take photos for use as panorama source material; Are there tricks to 'get round' pesky things like parked cars when photographing from accross the street, or ways to move further up the street before taking a second shot? That's why I've popped the whole lot here for someone to play around with. --Brian McNeil / talk 08:46, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):Please don't dump an assignment like this, try to be more specific. There are images in these batch that obviously can't be used for merging, like the first. Or details like the close ups of windows. When making panorama shots, all photo's to be merged should have been taken from the same stand point. Of course it is needed. See my talk. --McZusatz (talk) 08:04, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No it isn't. It would make sense if the version was retouched or something like that and the original has any significant purpose like File:Billy the Kid corrected.jpg. The original is from an auction site that careless arranged it all over the place. I only asked the lab to crop the correct one out because I can't straighten the image in my current computer, so I uploaded the areas around it. And the derivative version is not always necessary. Look elsewhere and you will see many images that don't have the original preserve even when they should like pictures from the Library of Congress in their original state. This original shouldn't be preserved at all. Just let it be deleted.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 08:39, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request: Not a request as such, but I'm trying to upload a new improved version of this print, but without succes. The old version shows up all the time. I vaguely remember this has something to do with the cache, but I'm unable to fix this. Could somebody do it for me? The image is there, as far I can see, and is good. Perhaps, when I have time I will try to restore it, to eliminate the folding marks, and will upload as a new file.
When you load an update, fequently you don't see it in the thumbnails, maybe for hours and even for days, but usually the full resolution image is updated (at least if you purge - menu at upper right, between the star and "search"- and reload the browser page). --GianniG46 (talk) 10:51, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
ok, I see. I pressed F5 and that did the trick as well. Thanks for your explanation. Vincent Steenberg (talk) 13:15, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
When you go to My Preferences > Gadgets > Maintenance tools, you can ad "Page Purge" as a feature to be an option in the drop down in the top right corner of every image. This purges the cache of an image. Sometimes thumbnails don't update automatically when you upload a new version. This would fix that. Graphist opinion(s): Normally the size of jpeg images does not matter, but this bug occurs with progressive saved images. To fix this just download the file and save it with highest quality settings, if possible. Then the newly uploaded image should have thumbnails. --McZusatz (talk) 18:52, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain what you mean by "save it with highest quality settings"? — Cheers, JackLee talk 17:03, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Jpeg is always loss compressed. So it's the best to be as lossless as possible to adjust the highest quality settings. E.g. in GIMP you just have to set quality to 100 and subsmpling to best quality. The superseded template appears to be missing from the original at the moment. Pearts (talk) 01:20, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Comments:
1. The "folding marks" aren't folding marks at all. This type of pocket map consists of rectangular tiles of printed paper glued onto a linen cloth backing. Gaps are deliberately left between the tiles to facilitate folding. Unfortunately, the tiles in this example don't line up very well. Because of the labor-intensive nature of such maps, they are rarely, if ever, produced nowadays. Theoretically, it may be possible to digitally cut the tiles out into a collection of 36 images and try to assemble them without gaps, assuming the printer cut the tiles correctly and no information is missing. If cutting was inaccurate, gaps will still be there in the final version. (The original map was presumably printed as a single sheet, cut into tiles with a sharp blade, then glued onto the linen backing.)
2. The map has been defaced with pencil and pen markings. Are they historically important for Wikipedia purposes? Should they be left in or should they be retouched-out? They may only be there because this was the best or only surviving example of this map at the time Cartography Associates (davidrumsey.com) scanned the original.
3. The paper is very yellowed, especially along the edges of tiles. This means that the printed colors have probably also shifted over time. Should attempts be made to reverse aging, or should the image be left with its "vintage look"? At the very least, the mottled appearance of the aged paper significantly increases file size and replacing unprinted areas with a uniform, single color can significantly reduce the file size if RLL compression is used in the file.
4. If you just need a map of political boundaries in South America in 1914, would it not be better to use this map as the basis for tracing an all-new, simplified SVG rendering with 90% of the details taken out, so it uses less storage space and can be displayed quickly? As it is, the map is excessively detailed and the file size is huge, even by Wikimedia standards: It takes several minutes to download on my broadband connection and several more minutes for a fast (3 GHz) AMD Athlon processor with 1 GB of RAM and hardware-accelerated video card to render the image. Most people will never see the image in full resolution due to Internet connection speed, hardware limitations, or simply lack of patience. It may be better to use a simpler graphic on Wikimedia and just provide an external link to the David Rumsey Map Collection site. The David Rumsey Map Collection uses specialized software that Wikimedia and the various Wikipedias will probably never have, making the experience here aggravating, not enlightening.
5. If editing with GIMP, the intermediate format of choice is GIMP's native XCF format, not PNG, as it uses lossless compression, produces reasonably small files on disk, supports 24-bit color, transparency and layers, and loads faster. The original DjVu file can be converted to uncompressed TIFF on Linux systems with DjView4, slurped into GIMP, then saved as XCF while work progresses.
6. Uploading the file in DjVu format to begin with, then reverting Richardprins' marking of that file as "superseded" after the JPEG version was made available seems to amount to a contest of wills. Sure, Wikimedia supports the DjVu format, but many operating systems and browsers don't (mine certainly doesn't), unless the user knows how to install special viewers and plug-ins; most Wikimedia and Wikipedia visitors don't know how and/or can't be bothered.
7. For a full clean-up, restoration or simplified derivative work, this image should probably be submitted at the Commons Map Workshop. —Quicksilver@ 19:39, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Intruding traffic lights[edit]

Request: Please remove the traffic lights (if that's what this dark thing is) on the left edge of the photograph. I thought of cropping it out, but the framing would be too tight; I also didn't like the thought of cutting that pedestrian in half, or losing the Whitehall background. --Waltham, The Duke of 17:22, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Flowers in marble, Taj Mahal[edit]

Request: Is it possible to use the images for focus stacking? Could you please help making a clean panorama? Yann (talk) 09:20, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

They can be stacked, I got artefacts on the first run of the first half, I'll have to do some amount of manual work, and so I'd like to know which direction you'd like me to go in, do you want the design to take priority, or do you want a representation of the real-life object instead ?
That is, do you want the repairs to the artwork in real-life to be show as they are, or do you want the original artist's intentions to show instead ? Penyulap 12:21, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I would choose the 2nd option, if a choice has to be made, i.e. the design has priority. Thanks for your help, Yann (talk) 17:56, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It will take time working alone, although I shall do some in stages. I will outline my intent here, so that other artists can help if they want to. I'd suggest a split of the work along the lines of
  • making a good quality stencil to use repeatedly around the edges (I am doing that slowly first off)
  • making a blank marble slab upon which to place the stencil. (this is probably a good entry point for someone)
  • cleaning up the middle (I haven't examined how much work is needed there, also a good entry point)
Penyulap 22:00, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Work has stalled, and the priority I am giving it at the moment is too low while I have other work. I'd be happy to guide anyone in learning the skills required to do this work. Penyulap 15:56, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A good place to transfer this work would be to the German lab, they have plenty of helpers there with the skills needed and a lighter workload, how do you feel about that idea ? Penyulap 02:25, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes sure. Please do it. I don't speak German, so I won't do it myself. Yann (talk) 05:31, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Photograph of George Simon[edit]

Request: Hi there! I've uploaded this file for an article I am working on about Simon for the English Wikipedia. I was wondering if anyone would be to improve the picture for me, or perhaps make another version of the picture, by clearing the image of the other blue/grey painting (not Simon's) that is visible behind the artist? I have also asked this question at the Wikipedia Graphic Lab. Thank you! --Loriski (talk) 23:17, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

the nonchalant artist, 'my work is the important thing, and it speaks for itself' well, if he is still alive, if you are the one who took the picture, you can get him to pose properly and put the painting on proper display if you emphasise that you are a portrait artist and his scruffiness reflects upon you. Then they pose better out of respect for you, rather than refusing to pose out of disdain for focus on the look of the artist, rather than his work. But I don't know who took it or if he is alive, but it's good to keep in mind for next time either way. I don't know how well you want the edges done, I've done some work with his hair and clothes, let me know how important it is, or if it is ok as is. Penyulap

Improve contrast, blur a bit, consider overwriting[edit]

Resolved

Request: I wonder if someone could make this picture a bit lighter and blur it a bit too so as to remove the usual dots from the scan. We already have a version but it is smaller. As it is a bit lighter and has some identification of the people in the picture, I have decided not to overwrite it with this one. If you think you can improve this larger version it might be a good idea to overwrite it, though. I leave it up to more expert users' opinion. Thank you!--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 08:45, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Remove black areas and round etches[edit]

Request: Remove the black bits of the pictures by making them transparent (for the portal) or fill the missing sky (cloister). Round the etches of the portal picture by removing the protruding corners of the stiching panorama and make it more like an arch. --Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 12:00, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Shame that the arch is missing the center! is it okay like that? Amada44  talk to me 13:48, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is perfect like that! I sort of have the center but I think I took it from a different angle so I doubt it will fit in the panorama. I will try again though. Thanks so much!--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 14:33, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
cool :) otherwise upload the center image and I'll see if I can make it fit! Amada44  talk to me 15:04, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, it seems good old hugin is not behaving itself and I am no good at stiching pictures if not in automatic mode so I may accept your kind offer. I was wondering: is there a place/way to upload the images that make up the tinpanum so that you can have a try at putting it in place? I was thinking whether you could try to make a version of the archivolts only (similar to the one you already made but removing the part of the tinpanum (I am thinking it could be used in any article on archivolts or architectural elements) and another one showing both archivolts and tinpanum (with the extra images I would upload). Let me know if it would be ok or if it would be too much work, I do not want to be a bother...--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 16:53, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just upload it as a new file. I can delete it afterwards. I'll give it a try to remove the tinpanum. cheers, Amada44  talk to me 15:56, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In the end I think there is no need to delete them afterwards as they may useful pictures after all. The ones you could use to fill in the missing bit of the tympanum are [5], [6], [7], [8], [9] and the one taken at a time closest to the ones for the archivolts (and possibly from the most similar angle) is [10]. You could also use [11] and [12]. Not sure if there may be some missing part of the puzzle. If there is, let me know and I will see if I may have it too. Thank you!!--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 17:08, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thank you both for your efforts! However, it seems to me the subject itself has lost a bit of quality. Could you try leaving Kornilov as in the original and just making the background lighter? I hope that will keep the quality of the subject and, at the same time, increase the contrast with the background (specially around the head, where it is a bit too dark)...--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 08:19, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge into a better quality picture[edit]

Request: I wonder if it would be possible at all to merge the two above images into one to produce a better quality version, without the wrinkle from the scan. There are some other similar versions in the same Second International category that migh be used as well, but I would say that could be too tricky (File:Роза Люксембург в президиуме II Интернационала.jpg and seems to me a modified picture as well).--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 23:18, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

The image on the left is not useful. It is a 7/10 scaled, cropped version of the image on the right. I would recommend working only with the image on the right and repairing the wrinkles and missing areas. Likewise, File:Роза Люксембург в президиуме II Интернационала.jpg is of little value, as it is a cropped, over-processed version of the image at above, right, possibly scanned from a poor quality lithograph in a book. — Quicksilver@ 04:42, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

City of Virginia Beach Seal[edit]

Request:

The first image, Hanukkah Lamp, has already been fixed. See above for the request. It was totally black. Now only 418x600 is black but that isn't used so it doesn't matter.

I've now found another image, City of Virginia Beach Seal, which is also totally black. The full size image is OK. It is only the resized image. I suspect this is something wrong with the image conversion program which makes the smaller images from the uploaded image. Maybe someone should investigate to find the bug. But since it does not happen very often it may be easier just to leave it and reconvert any faulty images as they are found.

p.s. What does the second image look like on your computer? It could be that some computers display the image OK and some don't.

--QuentinUK (talk) 15:04, 7 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

weired color balance[edit]

Request: I am unable to fix this. (Tried color temperature and white balance but the result is not satisfactorily) --McZusatz (talk) 13:00, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):  Request taken by Yann (talk): I made a try. Is it OK? (purge your cache) Yann (talk) 13:22, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You lost a lot of detail in the background (it is too bright) but the car looks good. Fortunately my previous try was too dark in the region of the car and the background was fine. Therefore I merge the two results into one file. . Should be ok, I think. --McZusatz (talk) 13:55, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the result is pretty good, as the car is in the shadow and the background in full sunlight. Yann (talk) 08:22, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I tried again and hope the result is a bit better because the colours are more natural.--Hic et nunc (talk) 11:17, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, maybe the colors are better, but the image looks overexposed again and the contrast is bit too sharp I think. --McZusatz (talk) 13:38, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I reduced the contrast a bit and tried to reduce the overxposure effect. But Yann already wrote that the car stood in the shadow while the background is indeed a bit overexposed. Because of the wrong whitebalancing it's not clear to see. The details are green and so darker. After correction it seems to be too bright butthis was ist already before, but in green.--Hic et nunc (talk) 14:51, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Weissabgleich[edit]

Graphist opinion(s): I added a section heading and a link to your uploads so it's easier to find them. --McZusatz (talk) 10:26, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In general it should be no problem to correct the color. I think in total there are about 150 files affected. I don't know if there is any batch tool which allows simultaneously editing all files. --McZusatz (talk) 10:29, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

FastStone Photo Resizer lets you batch adjust brightness, contrast, gamma, saturation and sharpness under its advanced settings. Now only if anyone knew how to batch download files from Commons...--Vera (talk) 12:09, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've examined the images and I don't think it's just a white balance ("Weissabgleich") problem. From the image metadata we see the camera was set for Tungsten (incandescent light) when it was used for shooting pictures in daylight. This is actually a "color temperature" problem. One can get the colortemp script for GIMP by Luca de Alfaro from http://registry.gimp.org/node/73. Using the script one can adjust the color temperature of the image a specific, repeatable amount, e.g., from 6500 K to 4500 K, to remove the blue cast. There are a few images, such as File:Aushangtafel_Fritz_Claus_Hütte_Martinshöhe.JPG, that don't respond well to this color temperature change in GIMP, possibly because they weren't taken in full daylight conditions. In such cases, the Colors -> Auto -> White Balance tool in GIMP seems to work better. Since the outdoor pictures with the blue cast appear to have been taken under conditions varying from bright sun and blue sky to overcast or even in shadow (different color temperatures), it will take an artist's eye to determine the proper degree of correction; this also means that a batch correction tool will not work. You can read more on color temperature at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_temperature and on color balance correction at http://pareandfocus.com/index.htm/white-balance-with-gimp/. Also, one needs a computer monitor that has a proper gamma setting and on which the color balance is correctly set. This is easily done on Linux systems, but usually not available at all on Microsoft Windows systems, unless one has a special video driver from the video card manufacturer. — Quicksilver@ 15:59, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please edit this Image and help me out in Winning :D[edit]

Request: Sharpen it mainly sky and please make your best effect. Thanks --KishanGupta (talk) 18:46, 6 September 2012 (UTC) Graphist opinion(s):[reply]

✓ Done: I am sorry to say but there is not much I can do. I have added some sky but that was more of a joke than serious work. I am also sorry to say that you will most likely not win. JPEG compression is quite strong and sky is over exposed, not much detail in the image. cheers, Amada44  talk to me 19:20, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Amada44, if you look at the pic in full resolution there are many artefacts. Winning is nearly impossible in my opinion. Sorry.--Hic et nunc (talk) 14:10, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fix of colour banding in the sky[edit]

Request: Could you fix the colour banding in the sky? Thanks --Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 07:48, 13 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

The sky appears to have colour banding due to palette manipulation, possibly due to post-processing with Adobe Photoshop. Using GIMP, I isolated the blue sky as a separate layer, omitting the jet contrails near the center, and applied a Gaussian blur with an extremely large radius to blend the colours into a continuum, then merged the blurred layer onto the original image. It does look better on my monitor now, compared to the previous version. — Quicksilver@ 21:51, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to say, but second version looks worse on my monitor (more stripes on sky). --Ivar (talk) 20:37, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I tried again but it seems that the banding can't really be removed.--Hic et nunc (talk) 09:15, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

is this any better ? Penyulap 08:48, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so. The banding is to see as in any other version.--Hic et nunc (talk) 15:13, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, this project will need to be abandoned, as Wikimedia Commons has undertaken to discard older versions of graphics, probably to save storage space, and to resolve this issue the original uploader (Wolfgang Moroder) would need to provide a fresh copy of the original image file. This could be done by uploading a new version and ovewriting the present version, or placing a copy of the file on a large file transfer service, such as Dropbox, then posting a link to that file. Bear in mind, Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia are having problems with thumbnails not being updated, no matter how often one purges the page or clears one's browser cache. Comments above relating to seeing no improvement are most likely not due to the image edits being ineffective. The only way to tell for sure is to upload the image and wait 7 to 20 days to see if the thumbnails have been regenerated. In the alternative, create a dummy article in Wikipedia using the image and size it at least one pixel larger or smaller than any of the previous sizes used in all wikis to force the wiki software to generate a new thumbnail for evaluation. — Quicksilver@ 05:43, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. — As of this moment thumbnails appear to be updating normally on Wikimedia Commons, as long as one purges the page, clears one's browser cache and reloads the page, but Wikipedia is showing severe lag in thumbnail updates. This has been a recurring problem for about two years. — Quicksilver@ 15:28, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
