coordinates of depicted place (P9149)

coordinates of depicted place (P9149) just got created. I'll switch my bots to start using this new property instead of coordinate location (P625). Can you do the same? Please be very careful that coordinate location (P625) and coordinates of depicted place (P9149) don't end up on the same file. That makes conversion a nightmare. As for the conversion. I did that before in a different context. I think I just got the json, replaced the property and wrote it back. Let's see if that works here too. Multichill (talk) 15:20, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

@Multichill: Thanks for the note. I have switched my bot to start using this new property of coordinate location (P625). If my bot is about to add the new coordinates of depicted place (P9149) based on information from the wikitext, it will check if it already has coordinate location (P625). In this case, it will first remove the coordinate location (P625) prior to adding the new property. Example [1]. There are three limitations to this
  • The removal and addition are done in two separate edits. I have not found a way to update in one edit, as the updateclaim api throws an exception if I try to update the claim id to another property
  • If the removal of the claim fails, the update will not be performed. In the rare case that removal succeeds and addition fails, the SDC would only be added back in the next run.
  • My bot will not update coordinate location (P625) that cannot be cross-checked with wikitext.
So I can make sure that coordinate location (P625) and coordinates of depicted place (P9149) don't end up on the same file, but I will not systematically clean up coordinate location (P625). I see you're doing it in two edits. You should be able to do it in one, see https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/api.php?action=help&modules=wbeditentity . I assume you already copy the statement to keep qualifiers etc. Clear edit is "api.php?action=wbeditentity&id=Q42&data={"claims":[{"id":"Q42$D8404CDA-25E4-4334-AF13-A3290BCD9C0F","remove":""},{"id":"Q42$GH678DSA-01PQ-28XC-HJ90-DDFD9990126X","remove":""}]}" and the create edit is "api.php?action=wbeditentity&id=Q42&data={"claims":[{"id":"Q42$GH678DSA-01PQ-28XC-HJ90-DDFD9990126X","mainsnak":{"snaktype":"value","property":"P56","datavalue":{"value":"ChangedString","type":"string"}},"type":"statement","rank":"normal"}]}". I had a major re-write of my bot's code yesterday and during this I noticed that it does not purge files correctly with kyrillic letters. This was the test that it now works as expected. Hi Tamil, as far as I know there is no framework that supports SDC edits. For this reason I use direct post requests to the API (https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/api.php?action=help&modules=wbeditentity) to make these changes. SchlurcherBot question

Hello. SchlurcherBot has added structured data to countless files based on file information. However, many files have pre-existing bad information (e.g. files with date of upload in place of date of publication; a huge amount of undated Library of Congress images given arbitrary 1900 dates upon upload, etc.). Thus, when bad data is identified, it takes at least twice the effort to correct it. Errors in the file description are relatively simple to change. However, making subsequent changes to structured data is often an inconvenient and time-consuming hoop to jump through. My question is: does your bot periodically check for discrepancies between structured data and file description data (e.g. date, creator, license), and replace the structured data when the corresponding field changes? For example after I changed the date of this file from 28 July 2013 to 1902, will a bot eventually make a change in the structured inception value? --Animalparty (talk) 18:32, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

I often upload my pictures with rough categories and data, such as coordinates and heading in the appropriate templates, and refine them the next day or even later. If the data have already been copied to structured data, my correction generates a discrepancy. At first I would correct both copies, but that got to be a nuisance so nowadays I just leave the obsolete structured data. I imagine one day the distinction will be removed. When we enter the correction, that will end the job; no more separate record and no record of the bad location except of course in the file history. One fine day, by and by. @Animalparty and Jim.henderson: Hello. Currently the bot is only capable of adding structured data which does not exist already. The only exception are currently coordinates, where the bot is also able to update the coordinates if the heading quantifier is missing. So currently if you want outdated structured data to be fixed, it's better to delete the current ones. The long term goal (probably more in months that weeks) is to also update structured data based on updates in the file descriptions. If you could link some examples where you updated the descriptions, that would be great as it would give me a starting point once I have time to code this. --Schlurcher (talk) 16:14, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
The majority of my uploads have coordinates when uploaded, and almost all of those have small GPS errors, so I change them after upload. I shall start deleting the obsolete structured coords.

Wenn du mir die Namen schickst, dann schaue ich mir das gerne an. Spontan ist mir nur eine Sache aufgefallen: bitte verwende bei Datumsangaben das ISO Format. Also z.B. 1980-04 für April 1980. Coords question

Hi, the difference is only obvious for artworks. Let's take a painting of the eifel tower located in a London art gallery:
coordinates of depicted place (P9149) - Coords somewhere near the Eifel tower
coordinate location (P625) - Coords somewhere in London
location of the point of view (P7108) - Coords where to photo of the painting was made
For digital photographs we use:
coordinates of depicted place (P9149) - Coords what is displayed in the photograph
coordinate location (P625) - Not to be used. We are phasing this out.
location of the point of view (P7108) - Coords of the camera location

Stop your bot

I blocked SchlurcherBot as a syadmin action because it's purging images way too fast without any regard for server load. Please stop it immediately. Legoktm (talk) 07:51, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

We ended up needing to block your bot's IP addresses at a higher level, please email noc@wikimedia.org to get them unblocked. I think we will need to revisit the edit and purge rate of this bot, we are also looking into it server-side. HTTP vs. HTTPS in creator URLs

Hi! I just noticed that SchlurcherBot seems to use HTTP instead of HTTPS in the URL (P2699) qualifier of creator (P170) statements – for example, http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Lucas_Werkmeister in Special:Diff/571577337. Is there a reason for this? I would assume that HTTPS is preferred – on Commons (unlike on Wikidata) it’s even used for RDF concept URIs (see T258590). I was looking at File:-2021-07-03 Shop to let, Burghley Centre, Bourne (1).jpg for other reasons and I noticed the rather large co-ordinate discrepancy warnings. As far as I can see, SchlurcherBot took {{Location dec|52.76890|-0.37722}} and turned it into 52°46'8.04"N, 0°22'37.99"E, which looks to me like it's the wrong side of the Greenwich Meridian. Inception date vs publication date

File:Brothers Dalziel-023.jpg, if it is ever determined when the sculpture was made, that would be the inception date. See File:Brothers Dalziel-029-1.jpg where the publication date is different from the inception date. Almost all of my uploads are publications. Inception date has little meaning for most of them, and a different meaning (which is nice to have) for some of them. Putting an Inception date on where there already is publication date makes me wonder what the bot is really doing and why. Do you mind then, if I remove it? It is meaningless except in redundancy. I was surprised at all the files that your bot has not touched. Can I know what determines which files your bot touches?
@Schlurcher: So, three questions then. Can your bot learn to not add inception date when a publication date exists already? is one. Do you mind if I remove it when the meaningless redundancy occurs? is a second question. Hi, I did not see your question yesterday, apologies. So let me explain: The bot matches the date field in {{Information}} template to inception (P571) (see Commons:Structured data/Modeling/Date). So removing the structured data will only result in it getting added some point again. In case of a digital representation there are sometimes discussions if this is the most appropriate way. For these types of uploads the {{Information}} template seems not the correct one. You would be better off to use a specialized template like {{Book}}. If you switch out the template, then the wiki-text will also show publication date, so this is also the preferred option for this. My bot will then ignore these dates for now (I have on my backlog to import these book template dates as publication dates, but I'm not there yet). I would prefer this. Second in line would be for me to have this data as both the inception date and the publication date. My argument here is that every media in Commons should have an inception date and that this parameter will be used in queries to the database etc. If you disagree to all this, my bot can learn to not add a date if a publication date already exists. --Schlurcher (talk) 12:02, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for responding. I apologize for feeling neglected/affronted. If there is any voting on the "Inception date" rule, I would vote for a list of acceptable dates as the book/other publication copyright people/software will be using publication date. Inception date is a great thing for items that don't have a predefined date. Like I said, that is my vote and I have an example of a picture of an artwork from a publication where both dates are used in a meaningful way, and some of my graphs from the latest book have days the data was taken on, using inception date and a publication date for the book.
Book template is a very easy out for me and a really good suggestion. It will pull in everything except source and copyright (and subtitle) from wikidata. Very good suggestion, which I thank you for.--RaboKarbakian (talk) 14:43, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

Yes, that's a though one. The bot simply uses the wikidata parameter. Restricting to djvu or pdf is not really a solution, as a lot of books get uploaded page by page and not necessary in a combined way. Do you have any other ideas? --Schlurcher (talk) 08:09, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Excluding image formats. I don't know the reason djvu is listed here (at Search) as an image format. Exclude anything that doesn't have multiple pages. Unfortunately that does not really work. Historically most books were uploaded page by page not as multiple page documents. But until this is resolved, I will restrict P6243 to pdf and djvu file formats. Hallo, als Nutzer der Applikation hast du darauf nur wenig Einfluss. Als Entwickler ist vielmehr sehr viel einfacher Text am Ende anzufügen als an einer fest definierten Stelle in der Mitte, deshalb wird das so gemacht. Anderseits gibt es auch wieder Tools die die Kategorien am Ende erwarten. Something strange

Good time of day. I published two files: this. and this. and installed a licence from Russian Wikipedia: Commons:Несвободный файл/ОДИ, which is meaning that these files need like illustrations in the statements. Up to this point, everything was fine but your bot made something strange edit and the status for this files is broken now. In any attempt to fix it and back to normal version, the tablet about «deletion» appears again and again. What do I need to make for files’es safety? Structured data edited by your bot

Your bot is adding information like this.

  1. It adds an incorrect creator with Wikimedia username so I have to correct it. This is due to that I have stated |author=[[User:Goran tek-en|Goran_tek-en]], requested by and knowledge from {{U|x}} in the information Template so the bot takes the last username and add it as creator, this is what I'm correcting now. Also I have now changed the way how I state requested by and knowledge from {{U|x}} to avoid this problem further on.
  2. In the middle of this post Sdkb is explaining that wikidata property link P4174 is for people, not for images; the image itself doesn't have a username as he explained.
  3. I don't have the knowledge to know what is correct or not regarding this, I just want the information to be correct for the images and it's hard work to correct them manually. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 11:15, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for reaching out. Regarding: 1) I'm using the same derivation that are also used to display the authors when you look up your pictures in the media search. So your solution will not only work for my bot, but also help correct display with the media search. 2) We are using P4174 as a qualifier for the author, which is a property of the image. It's used for a person (the author). 3) Currently the image you posted looks good. Please check Commons:Structured_data/Modeling for details. I'm sorry you had to do some manual work. Now I found what I did differently, your bot is using "some value". When I do that I get the same result without "?" or "!". At this time I don't know what "some value" does or mean, will try to read about this.
3) If you look at this edit, the bot has added "Property / creator: some value / qualifier author name string: X" which Sdkb means is wrong and is only for people as 2). I have tried to read about this but to be honest I can't really see how it all is working.

@Goran tek-en: Yes, "Property / creator: some value / qualifier author name string: X" should be added if the author does not have a separate Wikidata entry (this is true for most individual contributers to Commons). If the author has a Wikidata entry it should be "Property / creator: Q..." (example: File:ISS057-E-28435 - View of Earth.jpg which directly links to NASA). In the first case, the property P4174 is applied as a qualifier to the author. The author is "some value". This placeholder indicates that there is an author, but the author does not have a Wikidata entry (further details Commons:Structured_data/Modeling/Author). As explained before, the property P4174 is not applied to the image. From my point of view there is no conflict with the statements made by Sdkb. --Schlurcher (talk) 18:31, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi, it would be ok to upload a converted file with another file extension, but please note two things 1) but there is no actual need for this. The file is fine as it currently is. 2) note that the file type might be different from the extension you give to the file. Especially if you use a windows operating system, it is not easy to identify the actual file type. As I now understood, the upload tool will always assign the actual file type to your file not how you name the file. In summary, I think there is no need to do anything. 2 queries

(1) Sometimes when your bot do edits on the files I uploaded, some are left unedited! After your bot's edit, two hidden categories gets gone, right! So, that's why I am asking you if your bot missed some files, can I directly inform you those particularly?

Hi, the bot uses different sources for it's edits. One is new uploads, but the bot cannot keep up with new uploads. New uploads are generally looked at 2 hours after upload. However, if too many files are being uploaded at the same time, it will not process all. They are still being expected to be process at some point in time later. SchlurcherBot: Nicht existierende Kategorien

Hallo Schlurcher, ich habe den Eindruck, dass der Bot systematisch nicht existierende und unnötige Kategorien einbindet. Gestern habe ich mehrere Fotos für WLM hochgeladen. Im Hochladeformular (für das Saarland) gibt es ein Feld, in das man den Namen der Stadt eintragen soll, in der das Foto aufgenommen wurde und zwar in der exakten Schreibweise, wie sie in der Category:Municipalities in Saarland erscheint. Daraus generiert der Bot offenbar beim entsprechenden Foto die Zuordnung zu einer Kategorie Cultural heritage monuments in <Name>. Bei Homburg geht das leider schief, da die Stadt in der Kategorie Municipalities als Homburg, Saarland‎ eingetragen ist, die Denkmalkategorie jedoch Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Homburg (Saar) ist. Der Bot kategorisiert die Bilder konsequenterweise falsch mit Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Homburg, Saarland. Beispiel dafür: File:Homburg Jägerhausstraße 73 NW.jpg.

Die Ursache ist wohl eine inkonsistente Benennung von Kategorien, aber diese ist wohl nicht immer auszuschließen. Als Lösungsansatz könnte ich mir vorstellen, dass der Bot eine zusätzlich Prüfung durchführen könnte: Wenn er in der Category:Municipalities in Saarland den Eintrag der entsprechenden Stadt findet, könnte er dem Link folgen und prüfen, ob es dort eine Kategorie gibt, die mit Cultural heritage monuments in beginnt. Hallo, mein Bot fügt keine Kategorieen ein. Er sortiert lediglich alle im Text enthaltenen Kategorien ans Ende. Der ursprüngliche Upload (https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Homburg_J%C3%A4gerhausstra%C3%9Fe_73_NW.jpg&oldid=588633226) hat bereits die monierte Kategorie enthalten. Diese war allerdings in der Dateibeschreibung versteckt. Insofern hat mein Bot geholfen diese leichter sichtbar zu machen (da die Kategorien nun am Ende sind) sie jedoch nicht eingefügt. This is something I have been wondering about, but I am not sure that this kind of change is really "internationalization". Commons:Bots/Requests/SchlurcherBot does not mention date format changes and if memory serves, the number-number format isn't really the most common one. Curious about your bot's selection criteria

Hi there,

I am very curious about your bot, which provides a useful service to everyone who uploads files by adding author info and "inception" date. This has allowed me to see that if the bot were consistent in adding this to my photos when I upload them, I would be able to do lots of very interesting things! Unfortunately, for some reason it is very selective in the files that it works on. This afternoon I uploaded seven files: ( 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 ). Your bot only added data to one of the seven (the third file). Any idea why it is so selective? Is it possible for users to aim the bot at their own uploads?

I've waited until I had a fairly clear cut case to offer you to look at it... as it happens it's a series of fun gargoyles! Thank you very much for any light you can shed on this.

Hi, thanks for your interest. The bot mainly processes the SDC maintenance categories given on the Bot's user page. This is what runs on my local hardware. In addition, I run a free Microsoft Azure account that runs an additional worker on new files. But there are more new files than it can process, so it selectively picks out of the stream of new files. That one processed your file 3. The other files should be picked up eventually through the maintenance categories. If you like, I can process all your uploads in one go. Just let me know. Wow! That's a really kind offer. When I first joined commons, I was a bit perturbed to see all the technical info being added, but more recently I got to playing with SPARQL and see how it's just tremendously useful (it avoids needing to create a category for all one's uploads in order to search within them). Between your bot and BotMultichillT about half of my uploads have been treated, but I do need to find a solution for the other hundred. There are just so many gadgets!  :) If you want to send your bot on a mission, I'd certainly be grateful! There's no shortage of SDC maintenance categories sitting around because I haven't figured out how to keep my photos out of the queues yet by uploading properly. SchlurcherBot's duplicate transclusion removal task

Hi. I'm a little confused about this edit – it seems to have been made outside of the pages that the task is supposed to be run on, and, regardless, the duplicated transclusion was almost certainly intentional.

If it is intentional that the task runs on such pages, perhaps it should be modified to only remove duplicate transclusions of templates on a whitelist.

Adding structured data on historical images

Hi, I've noticed that your bot adds structured data like shutter speed, aperture etc to images based on what's provided in the images exif data. Example. I think I've also seen it add capture date from exifdata. For historical images like this one, this is arguably not correct. Would there be any way for your bot to detect that an image is a historical image and instead add this type of data to some sort of "digitised" property instead of as a property of the image itself? Agree with @TommyG here: there are a number of problematic additions we've seen being added to GLAM uploads where things are being designated P31 -> photograph. Some examples include: File:Torquato Tasso legge il suo poema alla Corte Estense Francesco Podesti Brescia.jpg (painting) and File:Virgin Mary with Christ in a Manger MET SF64 164 362.jpg (paper sculpture). Wondering if you could immediately dial back the addition of P31->photograph to these types of files and be much more conservative about this and discuss best options. Otherwise we have a lot of cleanup to do. I didn't see the P31 logic described in any bot request or documented anywhere, so this would be a good time to do so. @Jane023 @Multichill - Fuzheado (talk) 12:45, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
Yeah I really don't think a bot should be adding P31 to SDC, period. Definitely not for museum objects, which theoretically should always have Wikidata items under the theory "if it's notable enough to be kept in a Wikidata-indexed museum collection, it's notable enough for an item". New task for you bot

Hello!

{{Convert to SVG}} already includes {{BadJPEG}} for JPEGs so it is unncecessary to have both templates at a file page. It'd therefore be good if a bot could remove {{BadJPEG}} from all files that already have both templates. This should work as search query. As always when removing templates or categories I think that if the template is the only thing written on that line that the entire line should be removed. I have made a try at user:Jonteemil/JWB-settings.json with anchors if the page starts or ends with the template and it seems to work. It also excludes nowiki tags which is good because it might have had the template in the ”Original upload log” but not now. In the beginning about 900 files would be edited but when all they are done I think it'll only be few edits a month.Jonteemil (talk) 00:34, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

@RZuo: As far as I understand both our bots do not add information after the other bot has added them. As you can tell from the file version history, both bots edited this file at the same time. Unfortunately, the structured data does not lead to a version conflict in these cases, but to a duplication of the entries. These occasions are however extremely rare. I always wanted to add logic to my bot to remove duplicate entries if it sees them, and I guess now is a good time to do this. SchlurcherBot bei radiologischen Bildern

Hallo Schlurcher! Ich lade regelmäßig radiologische Bilder bei Commons hoch, die dann vom SchlurcherBot mit strukturierten Daten ergänzt werden. Erstmal Danke dafür! (Hab die API nicht so im Griff, dass ich das ohne großen Aufwand selbst machen könnte, auch wenn ich per API hochlade.) Mir ist nur aufgefallen, dass in dem Eintrag "Urheber" manchmal "Objekt fungiert als" mit dem Wert "Fotograf" steht. Manchmal fehlt "Objekt fungiert als". Ich habe mir gedacht, dass es schöner wäre, wenn da nicht "Fotograf" sondern "Radiologe" stehen würde. Machbar? Aufwand gerechtfertigt? Oder was denkst Du darüber? @Hellerhoff: Danke für deine Anfrage. Der Bot versucht momentan anhand der Exif Informationen zu erraten, ob es sich um ein Foto handelt. Beispielsweise über den ISO-Wert. Deshalb wird der Fotograf manchmal gesetzt und manchmal nicht. Der Bot arbeitet generell defensiv. Im Zweifel macht er also lieber nichts. Wenn du mir helfen könntest die radiologischen Bilder zuverlässig zu identifizieren, so kann ich mich gerne an einer Anpassung versuchen. --Schlurcher (talk) 10:19, 19 March 2022 (UTC)

Wenn das so passt, dann würde ich mich danach um die Anpassung kümmern. leading zeroes in headings

I have already asked you to stop "fixing" headings by removing the leading zero. It is not incorrect to state bearings in this way, for example see [4]. Also this change is ridiculous - why is 000 considered incorrect but 00 correct? I do not accept the answer that it's to make it compatible with bots - Commons is primarily for humans to use, and if bots can't understand a correct format, they should be updated to do so. I now have to revert a large number of your fixes. If your bot continues to mess up my system, I will add a {{nobots}} tag to them. Voice of Clam 18:21, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

updating SD for locations

Hi Schlurcher, see e.g. this version history. I have removed false camera location (edit comment could be better, but your bot won't read it anyway) and inserted best guess object location on the description page of File:2017-01-21 GuentherZ Voesendorf Friedhof (27) Gedenkstaette NS-Opfer.jpg (and others). It is easier to guess object location than it is to guess correct camera location. Your bot copied the new object location to the SD (ok), but did not remove the false camera location (not ok, needs double manual work). Can you think about generally keeping location info in sync in file description / SD? The first diff is not even by my bot, so not sure what you suggest there. The file was not edited by my bot either. In the second diff provided my bot updated the SDC to match the update you provided to the file description. This edit was made to match both. So to answer your question: The bot assumes that the user knows better and matches SDC. Sorry about the 1st diff, I used the curID number by mistake — I meant this one instead.
Anyway, both cases are analogous: For those two photos, I corrected their wrong geolocation given at Flickr (likely introduced manually by the photographer, guessworking from a map on dim recollections of their recent Lisbon holidays) and added heading info, based on my knowledge of the matter. Then your bot transcribed my heading info to SCD, and that’s good, but also replaced in the wikitext of these two filepages the latitude and longitude numbers (which I had corrected) with the wrong originals meanwhile stored in SCD. That’s what I think is a problem. If you think this situation is not worrisome, the go ahead and do nothing. I’ll add to my workload, on top of correcting human errors, also undoing miscorrections made by bots.

Bot adding redundant statements

Your bot is mass adding redundant statements like mime type to the structured data (e.g. Special:Diff/663087414). There's no consensus for that that I'm aware of, so could you stop your bot from adding those statements? See Commons talk:Structured_data/Modeling#Importing_all_imageinfo_data_into_structured_data where it was pointed out that this information is already available in SPARQL queries, the RDF outputs as well as the API. Bot deny didn't seem to be respected

Hi. SchlurcherBot did not seem to respect {{Bots}}/deny when performing edit Special:Diff/671864962. I admit I may have incorrect syntax or whatever, and if that is the case then I apologise. I am trying to be diligent about precision of co-ordinates and I am currently unclear if some Bots are respecting this but currently do not have time resource to bring myself to speed if this is a bot problwm, wikidata problem, rendering problem or simply my misunderstanding that so in the interim I was attempting to defer some bots at the moment. Fragwürdiger Parameter fix

Hallo, dein bot ändert Geo-Koordinaten, von zB {{Object location|49°18′52.8″N 09°08′27.1″E}} auf {{Object location|49|18|52.8|N|9|08|27.1|E}}. Das sollte unterlassen werden, es ist keine Korrektur sondern eine unerwünschte Formatänderung. Es läuft auch der Richtlinie zuwider, dass Änderungen (im Quellcode der Beschreibung) unterbleiben sollten, wenn sie keinen sichtbaren Unterschied bewirken "Invisible source-code edits should never be done without a visual change", "Ein Edit soll immer mindestens zu einer nach außen sichtbaren oder wirksamen Veränderung führen".

Hallo, genau diese Formatänderung wurde vorher von anderer Seite gewünscht und daraufhin von mir implementiert. Damals war die Idee Category:Media with coordinates in DMS format von Schreibfehlern zu befreien, da diese in der alternativen Schreibweise häufiger auftreten. Ich reduziere generell rein Code-kosmetische Änderungen. In diesem Fall hilft diese Standardizierung auch enorm dabei Strukturierte Daten zu extrahieren, da man die ganzen Ausnahmen nicht nochmals berücksichtigen muss. Als Nebenbemerkung, Ideen wie {{Inform}}, die auch lediglich der Code-Optimierung dienen, sind schwierig, wenn es darum geht Strukturierte Daten daraus zu extrahieren. --Schlurcher (talk) 08:05, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

  • Die Regel dass Quellcode-änderungen nicht erlaubt sind, ist in den Wikipedien so, aber nicht explizit auf Commons so definiert. Daher ist meine Rechtsauslegung so, dass die Wikpedia-Regeln hier hinterfragend übernommen werden sollten (ohne es explizit erwähnen zu müssen).
  • Wenn ein Bot Masseneweise Quellcode-edits macht ist das was anderes als wenn es ein Nutzer macht: (i) User-erfahrung wird häufig nach Edits eingestuft (ii) Bot-edits sind für Massenedits gedacht und können auch in der Beobachtungsliste ausgeblendet werden.
  • Wenn ein Bot mit einem Bot-Flag einen Unsinn macht (bzw. machen würde), sollte man (i) checken ob dafür eine Permission gegeben wurde (ii) hinterfragen ob die Permission Sinn hat.
  • Object location Maschinenlesbar für Structured data zu machen ist wichtig für z.B. https://wma.wmflabs.org/
  • @Schlurcher: gibt es wo eine Genehmigung, dass er Bot solche Quell-Code-Editierungen macht? Ich habe mir Commons:Bots/Requests/SchlurcherBot 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 nicht angeschaut. Ich würde aber explizit nachfragen ob reine Quelltexteditierungen auch erlaubt sind (mit Begründung).
  • @EugeneZelenko: You imho approve most Bot-Flags on Commons, is there a guideline if Bots are allowed to make invisible Source-Code-edits? On most Wikipedia they are not allowed, but for machine-readable-structured-data this might be usefull, if some code don't understand the different form of souce-code-syntaxes.

Bezüglich Inform sehe ich das ähnlich wie Gendern, jeder soll es so machen wie sie/er denkt. Ich gebe aber zu für Nicht-nativ-Speaker (English, bzw Wiki-Syntax) ist Inform schwer zu verstehen. Für Code/Structured data ist es mühsam, wenn es keinen einheitlichen Standard gibt (aber "Diversity" und Regenbogenfarben wird ja derzeit überall groß vermarkted).
PS:Beim Gendern bin ich dafür die unmovierte Form (männliche Witwe statt Witwer) zu verwenden, da die meisten anderen Formen die Sprache unnötig sexialisieren und die Unterschiede binären (und non-binären) Geschlechter betont und Fremdsprachlerïnnen/Legastenikerïnnen diskriminiert.[1] Das einzige Problem bei der unmovierten Version ist dass es sich gleich schreibt&spricht wie das (teils verbotene) generische Maskulin/Feminin (was der amtlichen Rechtschreibung entspricht). Auf Commons hat noch keiner meine inkonsistente Genderung ausgebessert, also auf Commons gibt es mehr Freiheit/Wildwuchs, mit allen Vor- und Nachteilen.

  1. Ganz generell trachte ich danach, jede Aufnahme mit den richtigen geolocations hochzuladen. Da meine Kamera die Koordinaten nicht ermittelt, mache ich das nachträglich - so genau es nur geht.
  2. Quellcode wie 43°46′46.2″N 5°25′04″E finde ich viel leserlicher als das identische 43.7794837 | 05.4177725, und vor allem bevorzuge ich wenn die Eingabe dem display möglichst gleichsieht. Vor paar Jahren konnte ich Jarek dazu bewegen, auch dieses Format zuzulassen.
  3. Allerdings erreiche ich mit dem DMS-Format, dass jede damit versehene Datei in eine Wartungskatehorie gestellt wird, sozusagen als fehlerhaft gebrandmarkt wird.
  4. Noch schlimmer, immer bei Koordinatenangaben kommen die mir unverständlichen Kategorisierungen "missing SDC coordinates", "missing SDC copyright license" dazu.
  5. Das bewegt mich dazu, nicht nur künftig auf Koordinatenangaben zu verzichten (sie höchstens als Kommentar mitzugeben) sondern auch meine bisherigen lokalisierten Dateien zu überarbeiten, d.h. die Koordinaten wieder zu entfernen.
  6. Ich hatte es für erstrebenswert gehalten und als vorteilhaft angesehen, wenn jedes Bild zeigt woher es stammt und die Möglichkeit bietet, mit einfachem Link die Karten der Umgebung anzusehen; wenn jedoch meine Arbeit stets in Fehlerkategorien mündet werde ich vermeiden, was das verursacht -- sarang사랑 05:52, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Eine Kleinigkeit: Ich verstehe nicht, warum er manchmal einige meiner neu hochgeladenen Bilder sehr schnell mit structured data versieht (z.B. dieses hier), andere am selben Tag hochgeladene Bilder dagegen nicht (z.B. dieses hier nicht) oder erst viel später. Sind das einfach Kapazitätsgrenzen? Oder kann ich den Bot irgendwie „anlocken“, damit er alle meine Bilder mit structured data versieht?

Du scheinst alle SVGs mit <switch> zugespielt zu bekommen, so dass du sie beliebig lange festhalten kannst oder auch Änderungen verbieten. Da bei ist gerade bei denen ein sehr großer Bedarf des Aus- und Rumprobierens. Was bedeutet, dass man viel ändern muss. Hi, F. Riedelio! SchlurcherBot is not sending you e-mails, as such the option you selected does not help. What you describe looks more like notification e-mails from the system. Please check your notification settings. You may have selected that you get an e-mail for each instance of an edit to your uploaded files. I noticed Category:Pages with local camera coordinates and missing SDC coordinates is getting a bit full. You don't happen to have a bot that can empty it out? That would be nice. I noticed because some of the files are still in Category:Files_with_coordinates_missing_SDC_location_of_creation_(52°_N,_4°E) after I ran the revere geocoder on that category. @Multichill: Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately too busy in real live. Maybe I should join the next hackathon to be out of normal live to have some dedicated time. I have actually concrete plans for Category:Pages with local camera coordinates and missing SDC coordinates for some time: I've noticed that parsing the wikitext is not enough. So, if started from scratch and I've written new code to parse the html and not the wikitext. The parser is working and the http selector as well. I think I would just need a couple of more hours to put the loose ends together. Thanks. For now I got it working with https://html-agility-pack.net/. I use the API parse, but the pure html for now, not the parsetree; but I may consider this in the furture. I have this now working on my test bot account. In case I do not see any errors after checking the last 100 edits, I'll start this in production and you should see this category go down. I did history and found My grandfather who wrote to my late father in England. I have letters and sunrise books from the 1940s he sent him plus his son wrote to him and like to know more about him. Adding image hashes via Structured Data

Hi Schlurcher,

would it be possible to add image hashes via SchlurcherBot? Sometimes they are already contained in the EXIF metadata, and there is this handy property for it P4092. (There is also this perceptual hash thing, probably unrelated)

I'm doing this already, please see a recent diff: [6]. I'm even updating this is the file has changed. However, note that I'm currently at letter C and it will take quite some more time to get through all files. Corrections to SDC properties width/height/data size/hash

Hi Schlurcher! I noticed that SchlurcherBot added the above-mentioned SDC properties to this file. While I certainly commend these additions, I was wondering whether any tasks have been set up to check the correctness of these properties? In this example, I overrode the original file with a higher quality version, and consequently, the values of the properties were no longer accurate. @Askeuhd: Thanks for reaching out. Whereas the current focus is on adding SDC properties, the bot also checks certain properties and keeps them in sync with the information provided elsewhere. These properties include media type (P1163), checksum (P4092), data size (P3575), duration (P2047), height (P2048), width (P2049), number of pages (P1104). Others, especially date and coordinate, are in the works. So yes. However, currently a complete bot run takes like 4 years and it will need improvements like this to do what you asked for in a meaningful way. Selection of files to proces

I recently added a few files with the license Cc-by-sa-4.0-heirs, wich is little used. I notice that the bot has not worked the files. Is this because it is an unusual licence? SchlurcherBot - structured data on files with No source/No permission/No license tags

Hi. I saw the bot adding structured data to a file that was tagged with {{No permission since}}. Some of that data was the copyright status, which is in dispute. I'm not sure it's hurting anything to leave it working as is, but if it's not too much trouble, can you have the bot skip over files that are in active deletion processes (DR, CSD, No source/DW No source/No permission/No license)?
