PDF and its resolution[edit]

So: "hmm, lets do another wiki". Commons is where I started. I love Cats and Categories, the second because of here and probably commons improved my understanding of the first as well. The books at wikisource are pretty much fancy gallery to me. So, now you know.

I will look into ACBots problems with your uploads as it affects everything at wikisource, and the problem with those images might be the way I use the templates....

But, to the subject, the default resolution on most software for pdf is 100ppi. I have a software that investigates the pdf files and it found that the original resolution of the Peter Pan file was 300ppi. So, my files are bigger than yours. I think this tool I used to find the greatest ppi from the file is specific to my os. It is a commandline tool. However, maybe whatever software used to view the pdf with, if you poke around it a little, you can find the maximum resolution though it. I highly recommend looking into that.

So, the software I used gave Cinderella at 900ppi. But that was on something it called a mask. I used 600ppi as my extracting setting. I think that was wrong because the images on the files were only 300ppi but, I got away with it because the images are more like blobs than like fine lines. That the fine lines would have been spread too thinly for there to have been any improvement in the doubling of the image size.

Poe, however, the images were honestly 600ppi, and my set is just simply great. It is true, I am hitting my own validation button, but they are coming out of processing in a way that I usually only just dream of. I am going to ask that you allow me to make a complete Poe collection.

The Peter Pan images, I am only going to upload over yours if my lines are darker and/or my images larger. And the color images, I am not so happy with how they are coming out of my processing. If the image exists in the scan, I try those but I suspect some color shift in the inks thoughout the years. If you are able to do any of those better, please do! I have been trying to get the sky to be blue, the reds (usually on the clothing) to be red and the greens (plants and grass) to be green. I am going to upload an image that I used a three layer masking on in stripes from top to bottom: Blue, Green, Red -- like a flag. And, it looks okay, but that method was embarrassing, and okay is just okay, not beautiful, etc. which is the goal.--RaboKarbakian (talk) 16:04, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@ShakespeareFan00: At the bottom of page 9 in the book, the author credits a few people: General Ortega, Rafael Colorado, and United States Secretary of War (as seen here. The author was a soldier during the Spanish-American War. There is no 1 photographer.
