First of all...[edit]

What is not appropiate about writing about myself. I was going to add photos after I was done writing. Whats the big deal.Stephen Hunter (talk) 06:22, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Open proxies[edit]

Yeah you're right herby, I just find them and block them, regardless of the edit history. --Kanonkas(talk) 17:26, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try thanks for the note, but is it places like China where they have the great firewall of China they have to use open proxies because of some issues with the internet? Would be nice if you could give more info. --Kanonkas(talk) 17:39, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Been on those links before, also would you mind talking to ShakataGaNai? See this. --Kanonkas(talk) 20:07, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good day again, Herby. I was wondering if you could teach me how to use nmap, which you said you could when you had time. If you don't have time now it's fine for me, just that you teach me how to do it some day :) --Kanonkas(talk) 15:18, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Afraid I do not have time to do what I am doing at present (& I do not recall saying I would teach you about nmap!). You will have likely noticed that I have a few things to do here never mind any other wikis. Sorry for now. --Herby talk thyme 15:31, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aw no problem as I said above, but can you promise to give me a note on my talk page when you can? Regards, --Kanonkas(talk) 15:35, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In practice I cannot say that. My time is limited and there is always much to do. I would have thought you would be experienced enough to do as I would and search for the required information? You appear to have more time that I do and most of what I know is self taught - that may be good or bad! --Herby talk thyme 15:55, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

you are no help[edit]

I know it should go somewhere!!! -- carol (talk) 12:13, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am actually laughing very much for this. Thanks :)

Hi! Seeing COM:CSD, I found this:

A file in Candidates for speedy deletion can be speedy deleted under the following circumstances:
  • Corrupted, infected by a virus, completely blank, causes browser to crash, etc. (if in doubt, list it on Commons:Deletion requests as an unknown format/content).

Does it applies when the author blanks the page? --Sdrtirs (talk) 16:07, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Browser crashed[edit]

re: {{Lang-ar}} .. a heads up... AND the vandalism I saw a few days ago...

Text search my talk for your user name... and join the discussion. Apologies I didn't fix that after making sure of it's usage. I Checked all it's use pages... why didn't you?

In any event, my browser had too much memory in use or something and I lost a number of unsaved related edits, including the one which would have had me fix that...

Depending on my discussions with Rocket000 (Your name search) I'll be fixing that with a good template, so don't delete where it was used. // FrankB 20:05, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Hi[edit]

Yes, they were worth reviewing. The contributions, although encyclopedic, were copyvios. Thank you for the letting me know!. Regards, KveD (talk) 18:48, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your welcome[edit]

Hey, thanks for welcoming me. I was wondering when someone would. It was quicker on the other projects! Cheers. Stratford490 (talk) 12:17, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like Commons a lot better if it were easier to upload images! I've got a very good camera which produces extremely large files, and my internet connection is a bit slow, so attempts to upload can take more than five minutes, and sometimes end in failure. :-( I'm hoping to have a faster connection from September, but I don't want to reduce the size of the image files, as some of the quality would be lost. Stratford490 (talk) 23:00, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible new Salma sockpuppet[edit]

Hi, i [noticed] that there where some problems in the past, i also noticed, that the contributions of Fatooosh (talk · contribs) are very similar to the contributions i request for deletion and speedydeletion on July 16 by User Tota morey (talk · contribs). I nominated Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Airplane114.jpg for deletion, please check the other contributions of the user and maybe verify, that he is a sockpuppet of Salma. Thanks, --Martin H. (talk) 17:02, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Couple of things I must do but I'll be on it in an hour or so - thanks, appreciated. --Herby talk thyme 17:38, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK - I don't think this is one of the Motta collection of puppets (I'd forgotten how many there were and I'd missed one). Quite simply the stuff they uploaded was all quite high quality.
However I do think these could all be deleted as being of extremely low quality. Not got time to do it myself but I'll post on the admin board. Thanks for the info. Regards --Herby talk thyme 18:28, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia main page images[edit]

Interesting how banning me from English wikipedia 1) did not get the person who is active there and restoring images for the purposes of contests (and instrumental in my banning) is not restoring images that are here and useful for the project I was banned from. And 2)has not done much to improve the instance of the images which appear on the Main Page. The second is the reason that I am here bothering you.

Image:Annarborskyline.jpg I would not have imagined it was possible to get a photograph of an Ann Arbor skyline which so much did not resemble that city. But there it is. Uncategorized and ungalleried and on the Main Page. Could you add Category:Ann Arbor, Michigan to that? Perhaps the information template as well? -- carol (talk) 00:30, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the cat but the image is not protected so feel free to add the info as I know nothing about the place :) --Herby talk thyme 09:43, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, it is still protected here "View Source" in bolded hyperlinked letters instead of "Edit page" or whatever, but that is a good cat -- the information template looks nicer. Impressive image for all of the wrong reasons. Image:Ann Arbor E Liberty St.jpg <-- that is Ann Arbor. On the right is the second location of the first Borders book store, at the end of that street and to the right (and perhaps out of view) is where the first one was first. Just out of the frame on the left is where Schoolkids Records used to be. I wipe a tear from my eyes -- a typical recorded music store by todays standards; back in the 1970s it was the best music store on that side of the Mississippi and quite a different way of selling recordings than could be found elsewhere. The Michigan theater, they were raising funds for that restoration when I was in school nearby. The Burton Bell Tower in the background of this image; I just collected perhaps 10 images of that thing that were here today, gave them a category. Extremely well known landmark there.
A lot of words that you probably have no care for. A measure of my disappointment of the image that they used though. Seriously. And thanks for the category and the space here to whine about whatever process picked that image for the Main Page.... -- carol (talk) 10:00, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The State Theater missing some letters.... -- carol (talk) 10:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok - feel free to give me whatever text you think is good for the information & I'll add it (I guess it is a cascade protected image).
No idea what "process" is used on almost anything on en wp - I just came across a deletion request where everyone had voted delete & the page had not been deleted...... Strange place. --Herby talk thyme 12:16, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Carol - had a bunch of other stuff to do. Done now. Regards --Herby talk thyme 19:05, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Heh. Thanks? I could have done it now!! To me, these kinds of things should be done before the image is 1)put on the Main Page and 2)protected. It has the appearance that it is a lower standard that is being "protected" with such great force at that wiki. I know of people who prefer to surround themselves with others they consider to be "lessers" (not as intelligent and not as cool and not as other things). I am not one of them and I think that it is not the way to make great things.</end of commentary> -- carol (talk) 19:16, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah - I do agree - it would seem pretty basic to sort out info & the like before anything was even considered for featuring. Strange world...:) --Herby talk thyme 11:39, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nominate for deletion[edit]

Can you look at Image:IMG 0397.jpg; I fail angain the deletion request. What am I doing wrong using "nominate for deletion"? Havang (talk) 10:26, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not the most simple system I'm afraid!
Take the tag out of Commons:Deletion requests/Image:IMG 0397.jpg and put your reasons there (maybe look at this one to help you?). Then make sure that you transclude the request into here. Hope it helps.
I do agree with you mostly - I just don't think it was a "speedy" deletion. Regards --Herby talk thyme 11:01, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure - also domain now blocked on Meta in case they continue elsewhere. I'll try and find out some more. I've asked for a COI bot report. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 16:15, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again. Also Herby I've found a mass blocking script, you might find it handy when blocking sockpuppets/spammers, see User:Kanonkas/massblocking.js if you want to try it. Though be careful when using it. --Kanonkas(talk) 16:57, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - I actually object to scripted admin action generally. I prefer to look at each item myself except in rare cases such as today's upload vandal. --Herby talk thyme 18:19, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I understand, though you have full control when doing it, you just need to be careful when you add users in it. Anyway, I'm trying to be active on Meta (I know you don't like these so called "false" promises) but at least I try editing there, heh. I'm intrested in this cross wiki spamming, I've got help from Mike.lifeguard on how to do this, so hope I can be a little use for you there. Regards, --Kanonkas(talk) 18:34, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I checked the /CIDR range (16) and found this edit [2], though that ip just did that, nothing else. Just thought it could help, if it can. --Kanonkas(talk) 09:01, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting of Image:LA_Skyz_edit.jpg[edit]

please see http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Fernando_Estel#Image:LA_Skyz_edit.jpg

I am confused as to how/why a Flickr user can change the irrevocable CC license on an image and cause us to have to delete the image? Or is it because the original image was never Flickr reviewed? Mfield (talk) 20:07, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Commons Scope - Pdf and Djvu files[edit]

I have added some text dealing with these based on the discussion on the talk page. Users are by no means unanimous about which files should be allowed, and I have tried to follow the majority opinion. Thus, the suggestion is that if a Pdf or Djvu file is educationally useful even to a single other Wiki it should be kept. Would you like to comment before this page goes live? Please do so at the bottom of the talk page. Regards, --MichaelMaggs (talk) 21:55, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

protection?[edit]

I have once (maybe twice) reverted unkind vandalism to your talk page, it seems okay to leave it unprotected -- you and others (like me) will fix it if it needs it, I think.

My talk page was vandalized once and I did not ask for protection on it and it is now and I was wondering if the protection is not removed soon by the person who added it if you might consider removing it. Thanks -- carol (talk) 06:05, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - I am not a fan of talk page protection. For some strange reason folks watch my talk page (:) and I theirs!) so it causes no issues. Given the fact it is very recent I'd leave it a few hours but I'll do it later unless you tell me otherwise. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 07:03, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
When I was occasionally trolling with my IP, I was told that there was "no troll toll". That edit, given a choice between whore and slut, I guess I would opt for... -- it doesn't matter, but which is more respectable of the two to you? -- carol (talk) 07:38, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well I guess the "whore" is professional, the "slut" rather more an "amateur" so maybe it depends on your views of professionalism in "sport" I guess. Us folk this side of the pond tend to favour amateurs - I tend to like people who know what they are doing.......:). --Herby talk thyme 07:41, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On this side, one is free and the other is for hire. I would have been offended if the vandalism suggested that anything I have ever done for love or strong like was done for hire!! This has spilled into my employment situations (actual legitimate time-clock, job description, income taxable jobs) where I allowed the love or the strong like of the task to cloud the fact that I was needing more income. Anyways, interesting discussion, as usual :) -- carol (talk) 08:07, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Strange the ways of language (& of course tone, context, body language are as important - it is perfectly possible to be highly insulting with an inoffensive word!). I think while "whore" is unpleasant this side "slut" might be even more so. --Herby talk thyme 08:23, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Waterpark del req[edit]

Did you mean that the articles are more commercial in tone than encyclopedic at the moment or that their current use on the Portugese wiki article is more promotional than encyclopedic? If OTRS permission is confirmed, what about reducing the number of images used on the article and having them linked to here via a gallery or category? --BrokenSphere 15:50, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think I get now what your original question was, i.e., is the nature of Silvia-pco's image (and possibly text, which I would rather not get into, TBH) contribs on the pt wiki article on Aqua Show more commercial or encyclopedic? I know I started the DR, but my main concern there was licensing and permission, not the image use (I didn't even think to run a checkusage on the pics), basically your approach flipped. Since the possible use of the images may run more to the commercial than the encyclopedic in your opinion, do you mind being the one to seek out other opinions on this? I know that I'm basically handing your original concern right back to you, but I can't think of anyone better in this situation to articulate it. --BrokenSphere 16:56, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK. My thinking though is that the article can be rewritten to tone down the commercial/advertising aspects of it (cutting out the admission prices and hours is one way), with more refs if possible detailing how popular the park is, is it part of a chain, etc., as it seems to be notable. However I think those issues are more for the pt Wiki editors to deal with. BrokenSphere 17:09, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you've considered me in assisting you on this matter, but there's a problem: I'm not a pt admin. I'm an es admin.:D For cross pt-commons admins you can try Waldir or 555. But, if you're still interested on my es sysop opinion I must say that Aquashow looks like an encyclopedic waterpark, but the redaction and the words used by Silvia-pco to describe it are in fact a bit promotional.
As BrokenSphere said, I think those issues are for the pt scenario and its editors to deal with; still, I don't think these images should stay in Commons. Silvia-pco said in the DR that "I must forward the permission e-mail I got from the marketing director of Aquashow allowing me to use this images in Wikipedia..."; in that case the images will be under a fair use rationale, not a free license, and therefore can't stay in Commons. Maybe if pt.wiki allows fair use they can be uploaded there, but in that case, It's not our problem.;) As always, if I can be of use in anything don't hesitate to ask me. Cheers! KveD (talk) 19:49, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cities, villages, etc[edit]

OK, looks like England, Wales, NI and Scotland now all have "Cities in", "Towns in", and "Villages in" categories, within approprite UK categories. Exception is Towns and villages in England, which looks pretty wel-developed so I've left it. I would only add that there are loads of images in Category:Villages in the United Kingdom which should probably be moved into one of the England subcategories... Now I'm off to "do" Category:Statues in Scotland and its associates! Regards, Jonathan Oldenbuck (talk) 16:30, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that work - appreciated.
On the subject of Scotland Category:Lochs of Scotland has been nagging at me for a while. I think it should be divided into "Sea Water lochs of" (to be Category:Coasts of Scotland?) and "Freshwater lochs of" (I created Category:Bodies of water of the United Kingdom as a header maybe for inland water?). Thoughts etc always welcome. I'm guessing you could sort the lochs quicker that I could? Cheers --Herby talk thyme 07:47, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

about the Image:Nude filipina woman.jpg[edit]

hi Herbythyme, this photo of Nude filipina woman.jpg comes from Flickr and I check it followed the copyright of wiki and it also uploaded by these two tools automatically Flinfo tool and Flickr2Commons, which we can check the upload history. Could you tell me where is problem about the copyright and Do you mean the tools has problem?

It's ok now, that mark just the author's name and we can erase it according the copyright. And I think maybe add its entry on this suspect photo would be better.--atlaslin (talk) 14:03, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

suspicion about users mbz1 and sensl[edit]

Hi !

I contribute some pictures and also give my opinion on featured picture candidates. A user, sensl seem to take a revenge and always oppose with not courteous comments to the work of some people. I think mbz1 and sensl are the same person.

I've no formal proof, but mbz1 as sensl made the same mistake writing "photo shop" in two words (they are the only users on FPC to do this mistake). And comparing the historics of the two users, I saw that since mbz1 is no more active, sensl is very active. Before mbz1 became inactive, Sensl posted comments two times, but always mbz1 didn't wrote at the same time or the same day. Their posts are writen at about the same time (20:18 and 20:24). I think there are too much coincidences...

Can you, please, control those users?

Thank you!

Nicolas. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanchezn (talk • contribs) 22:24, 19 Aug 2008 (UTC)

Hey Herby. I'm not as completely convinced as Nicolas about mentioned connection, but it is suspicious to say the least. Yet, I don't know how far back in time CU can be used. Cheers. Lycaon (talk) 21:18, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly nothing I can see that is obvious. Probably worth keeping an eye on the area generally though. Sorry for the delay. --Herby talk thyme 17:05, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Keeping that eye anyway... Lycaon (talk) 19:15, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Herby, I wonder on what grounds you violated my and mbz1 privacy rights performing CU on me and on her? Isn't this the correct statement that "Checkuser is a last resort for difficult cases?" Where do you see a difficult case in my situation? mbz1 is long gone and I did not violate any Common policies, did I? Did you perform CU because Sanchezn did not like my vote, when I added FPX template to the image that was taken by his friend?, or maybe you've done it because Sanchezn did not like my spelling, or maybe you've done it because Lycaon crossed out my legitimate support vote and later deleted a warning message that I left on his talk page? Whatever it was let me please say to you and to them: "La preuve est infaillible : on m'attaque toujours, donc je suis encore.".--Sensl (talk) 20:55, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please do tell where it says that I have performed CU on you (or indeed anyone else). I was asked by two users to look into edits from two users. As a project CU that often happens &, having gained a few skills over the time I have been a CU, I will do some research around the request. It does not mean I will actually run CU. I really do not see where you get the idea taht your privacy has been violated. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 07:12, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Of course Sanchezn did not expressed himself clearly, he rarely does, but Lycaon did: "Hey Herby. I'm not as completely convinced as Nicolas about mentioned connection, but it is suspicious to say the least. Yet, I don't know how far back in time CU can be used. Cheers. Lycaon (talk) 21:18, 21 August 2008 (UTC)".I believe the best way to respond to such a request was simply to say: "declined". Instead you said: "Been a bit busy -will try and look later on today. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 07:50, 22 August 2008 (UTC)", and later: "Certainly nothing I can see that is obvious. Probably worth keeping an eye on the area generally though. Sorry for the delay. --Herby talk thyme 17:05, 29 August 2008 (UTC) " So, please do tell me how else I was supposed to be reading Lycon request and your responses, except as request to perform CU. As I mentioned earlier I see no reason that could have possibly prompted such a request. Was it done only because two users do not like my votes and my spelling? You and Lycaon and whoever are very welcome to continue "keeping an eye on the area generally". Besides I do not think that I'll be around much longer. The place, where emotions are measured in pixels and encyclopedic value and uniqueness of the images is much less important than image's sharpens seems to be a very boring one for me, and with this I consider the matter closed at least for me. Thanks.--Sensl (talk) 20:41, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[4][5] I think you've got the wrong templates there; they don't really make sense when applied to an image that was uploaded from Flickr, but whose author has since hidden/removed his images. Reading through the template you put on my talk page, I see:

  • "I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content"
    • It clearly does specify who created the content. The problem is that it is no longer possible to verify that information.
  • "If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it"
    • It clearly does specify where I got it, and there is a link to the website where I got it; i.e. Flickr. Again, the problem is that it is no longer possible to verify that information, because the link is now broken because the photo has been taken down.
  • "and the terms of use for content from that page."
    • Again, this is provided. And again, the problem is that it is no longer possible to verify that information.

By tagging this image as "no source", you're essentially equating "you didn't state your source" with "you stated your source but now you can't prove it". Every minute of every day, people are uploading images, claiming that they are the photographer. They are unable to provide a link that proves their authorship. But I daresay you have no plans to start tagging original photos with "no source" on those grounds. I wonder why are we are now requiring proof for Flickr images, when we don't require proof for images from other sources?

Thanks; I'll take it there. Hesperian 12:45, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

en.wiki admin needed[edit]

Hi. I was wondering if you could maybe take a look at en:Image talk:AbidjanLogo.gif. Acording to Image:AbidjanLogo.gif that page should contain the permission for the image (although I doubt that it's free enough). Cheers /Lokal_Profil 16:11, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you mean. Going off line now so "dity" copy n paste. Will try & look back later. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 16:14, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"I am interrested to move this picture to the commons. So, I wrote this night a letter in my best french to the "Great Chancellery" of the government of Ivory Coast:

Madame, Monsieur,

I will tell you the answer as soon as possible. 02:15 2 july 2006 Etienne

Monsieur,

Merci

Who ist wiki-copiright-specialist? Which licence could this be? Translation: "All coats of arms and flags from ivorian collectivities are proprety from the State of Ivory Coast. You can use them if you mention the source."
For this image the source would be "Abidjan District"; the image seems to be from the official Abidjan District home page. 18:00 3rd july 2006 Etienne

This would be CC-BY (see http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/ ) 18:24 3rd july 2006 Etienne"
Thanks. Copied the info to Image talk:AbidjanLogo.gif. My french isn't good enough to spot how the permission deals with commercial and derivative usage though. /Lokal_Profil 16:27, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Huh?[edit]

Why did you tag Image:Miss Kansas USA and Miss Kansas Teen USA 2008.png as unsourced? It clearly has all the source information available. PageantUpdater talkcontribs 03:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quite frankly that whole discussion was difficult to follow, but the point remains... you should not tag an image as missing a source, regardless of what the FlickrReview says... when with one single click it is clearly evident that the image is indeed released under a free license on Flickr. Don't go around blindly tagging images for deletion as missing a source unless you're willing to check the source links so obviously listed for that image. New user[edit]

Hi Herby, i have seen that you have allready had some problems with this user. There is a new problem caused by him, because there is clear vote tampering going on with This Image. Can you care about him? Greetings, --Simonizer (talk) 13:37, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mind looking into this here? I believe this is the second time that "Perez" person have been leaving me a note asking their other account to be unblocked, this time through an account and not an ip. Best regards, --Kanonkas(talk) 09:23, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am afraid I do not understand (or actually recognise) this language other than a stab at the fact that it is Eastern European. It would be best if you were to seek help from an admin who is fluent in you language & you should find one here. --Herby talk thyme 11:45, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I also got a question from the user. It's Polish according to the Google-translator. You have like I deleted pics uploaded by the user, because they were missing permission. I've sent her to Commons:OTRS/pl (at least I hope she understands that she should go to them). -- Cecil (talk) 03:12, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Meta req/TPWs![edit]

I confirm my request on Meta for removal of my 'crat rights here.

For the talk page watchers (:)) my life has taken a turn that was anticipated in some senses but the impact of the "turn" was not anticipated so well. Those of you who watch this are well aware of my views on activity and to have edited so little recently is "inactive" for 'crat rights in my opinion. I probably would have dropped them anyway later this year as my intention was to help out with the SUL requests rather than anything else.

As someone whose opinion I value once said to me "with rights come responsibilities" and I agree with that. If I feel I am unable to fulfil my responsibilities I will drop the rights. I will consider my other rights over the next month (I'd like to think I would have more time but I am not at all sure). --Herby talk thyme 11:51, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for serving as crat here. you action was really impressing.hope you good luck and more free time in the real life --Mardetanha talk 12:09, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Herby, thank you so much for helping Commons when it was needed the most. The best of luck for you, both here and in RL; I hope you will be able to continue Commons as much as possible. I think I can safely say that we all understand there are more important things to think about. Again, thank you for your work, here and elsewhere, always. Oh, you and you're inactivity. :P You better never drop those other rights! Rocket000(talk) 18:55, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help with SUL Herby - it was good to have as many people on board as possible. Keep up the good work! —Giggy 03:23, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ip's[edit]

See this. I really wonder why the ip seem to change after a day to a new ip & when somebody leaves a notice to their talk they just blank, see this were they resort in name calling. This here have been going one for some days now where the ip's (See the sandbox link I gave you) are disruptive. Best regards, --Kanonkas(talk) 13:52, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Strange collection. Nothing obvious springs to mind but I think I'd be tempted to post on an admin board about it. I'll keep an eye when I am around. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 15:52, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also one of the ip's were blocked. Best regards, --Kanonkas(talk) 16:18, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A range block was given on en.wiki. Just so you know. --Kanonkas(talk) 17:14, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
However given East's previous influence on you & this project I'm afraid you have just made me think that a range block is probably inappropriate - sorry --Herby talk thyme 18:05, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, I don't agree we should even do a range block. That should be the last resort & more discussion should be done. Now issuing a range block would seem to be weird, in my opinion. --Kanonkas(talk) 18:09, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As you suggested I've taken it up AN. Best regards, --Kanonkas(talk) 13:29, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes - I blocked one earlier & reverted the edits. I think maybe the templates should be s-prot for a while but folk seem to like to argue about such things so I left it. --Herby talk thyme 13:31, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, how did you notice? You can't supposedly speak Spanish :-)

Yes, it seems to be the same account. I've also blocked the master of puppets in the Spanish wikipedia, but I missed the puppet you've find. Many thanks and best regards --Ecemaml talk to me/habla conmigo 20:42, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of picture[edit]

Hi

You deleted a picture I uploaded a few days ago, for "copyright violation". Actually, I'm working for the French ministry of land planning, and we are the author of this work (we have published more maps like these here : http://www.ant.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=98). We want to make it available to a larger audience on Wikimedia Commons. Could you please tell me what we have to do so that our submission doesnt get deleted ?

Thanks Stéfan

I need help![edit]

Hello Herby
I am new to COMMONS and i don't know how things work here, for example this page you have deleted the image on (September 7) but the page contain vandalism from (Sep. 9), should i use "Nominate for deletion" on this page or add {{Delete}} to the page as i did here? Is there any other DELETE Template available which can be used on pages not media files?
Regards   ■ MMXXc.t  14:10, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well a speedy tag is like this: "{{Speedy delete|Your reason here}}", also the image in question is a copyright violation. Best regards, --Kanonkas(talk) 14:21, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

I have no idea if I am doing this right. I want to use your Creeping Red Thyme shot with attribution for an article on Herb Gardening that is appearing in a New Orleans preservation magazine. I don't know how you want to be attributed. I assume it is not as Herbythyme. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Midcityrising (talk • contribs) 17:03, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting my user page[edit]

You deleted my user page because it doesn't follow project scope? That makes no sense to me. Is my user page supposed to only have media files on it? Typically project user pages are for the user to describe themselves, not the project. Is that not so? Wjhonson (talk) 06:57, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
