Hi, the source Flickr file was initially licensed for non-commercial work, but the user has been on Commons and asked that their deleted files be restored. I don’t have the source URL for this particular file but I can confirm that the license for other files from this user have been updated. Thank you. Ytoyoda (talk) 00:50, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Ytoyoda: That particular file is licenced under CC BY-NC 2.0 so we're unable to host it on Commons at the moment. The "credit given to me" part, I believe, refers to the -BY (attribution) aspect of the license, however the -NC aspect precludes any commercial use, therefore making it incompatible with our requirements here on Commons. odder (talk) 13:18, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking, I'll let the user know that it can't be -NC or -ND. Ytoyoda (talk) 13:22, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A file you uploaded is on the main page!

File:President Obama speaks on explosions in Boston (2013-04-15).ogv, that you uploaded, is on the main page today. Thank you for your contributions to this project.

Ladin[edit]

Hi,

Can you please make a logo for the Ladin Wikipedia? It's in the incubator: incubator:wp/lld. The text is "Wikipedia, l’enziclopedia lëdia". I confirmed it with a dictionary.

Thanks! Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 07:24, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Amir, long time no see! The logo is now available at File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-lld.svg—I hope you like it! As always, should the Ladin Wikipedia progress out of the Incubator, let me know and I'll create raster (PNG) logos for use in the top-left corner of the page. Thanks, odder (talk) 12:55, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! There has been a bit of discussion about going out of Incubator in the Language committee mailing list, so this may happen in the foreseeable future (although it's not 100% certain yet). Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 13:07, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Now that I look at it more closely, it should use the elegant quote: L’enziclopedia and not L'enziclopedia. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 13:13, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir: Now fixed, thanks for noticing. odder (talk) 13:45, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File:Standard time zones of the world.png needs to be updated and corrected.[edit]

Hello.

File:Standard time zones of the world.png needs to be updated and corrected.

Yukon switched from UTC -8 to UTC -7 when it abolished daylight saving in 2019, and needs to be colored in dark green.

Cyprus (including the breakaway Northern Cyprus which reverted from UTC +3 ("Turkey Time") to UTC +2, after ditching the one year long daylight saving experiment) is in UTC +2 and needs to be colored in brown.

Crimea which was annexed by Russia and the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in Georgia are in UTC +4 ("Moscow Time"), need to be colored in light green. There should be no black country borders for these places, only the thin red time zone borders.

These are the only changes in time zones which occurred since 2016 (except for Crimea where the time zone change already occurred in 2014 and in the breakaway regions in Georgia before that).

Yours sincerely, 31.200.15.158 07:21, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @31.200.12.33, unfortunately I haven't got enough skills (or time) to update the map, however I have copied your request across to the map workshop so hopefully someone can attend to it sooner and better than I ever could. Thanks, odder (talk) 11:21, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request[edit]

Hi, Could you please Restrict public visibility (Revision deletion) of User:Razaviraz edits in here. kind regardsDéjà vu 00:29, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DejaVu: I've now had a look—apologies for the delay—and to me, those two edits don't qualify for revision deletion, I'd simply consider them regular vandalism and I can see @Taivo already blocked the account on 1 July. Thanks for letting me know about this, however, and happy editing! odder (talk) 08:29, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. May you restore the account creator right? I don't want to get hit with a ratelimit while moving files simultaneously. 1989 (talk) 02:25, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Infinite IP blocks?[edit]

Hi. Noticed that you have some infinite IP blocks. Was this purposeful or just artefact of actions?  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:00, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@billinghurst: I can't recall this block at all at the moment, so it was most likely result of something else. I've unblocked the IP address now, thanks for keeping track of this. odder (talk) 21:00, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. You only had one, I had close to half a dozen. :-/  — billinghurst sDrewth 22:25, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Logo of Helvetic Airways[edit]

Dear Odder

Please consider that Helvetic Airways has a new logo: https://brand.helvetic.com/d/a5P6MRc5cyDo/guidelines Please use red colour in .eps or .png Format.

Thanks a lot and best regards

Helvetic Airways Media Relations

The new logos has since been uploaded at File:Helvetic Logo 2019 red.svg and is currently used in the English Wikipedia article on Helvetic Airways, among others. odder (talk) 09:18, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Undelete[edit]

Hi Odder I was wondering if you would consider undeleting the Category:Wandering Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 14:32, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Lotje, this category used to be a redirect to the category Category:Wanderers. Would that one be better for your use? I don't mind undeleting the category, but if you're planning to use it for something else, then please do feel free and re-create it. Thank you, odder (talk) 18:16, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for looking into this, no need to undelete that category now. Lotje (talk) 05:21, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Update MediaWiki:Cirrussearch-boost-templates[edit]

Hi Odder,

While working on improving search results, I noticed that the existing templates-based boost scores seem a little odd nowadays. AIUI, the current scores don't seem to match usage patterns across Commons:

Template # files
Template:Assessments/commons/featured 14k
Template:Picture_of_the_day 7k
Template:Valued_image 35k
Template:Assessments 27k
Template:Quality_image 250k

E.g. files with Template:Assessments/commons/featured are currently configured to boost 250%, while Template:Picture_of_the_day is at 150%, In total, there are around 7k POTD and 14K featured files (and I believe being a featured images is even a prerequisite to being POTD.)

Based on how commonly used these templates are, I would like to propose to change the current configuration for MediaWiki:Cirrussearch-boost-templates to:

Template:Quality_image|125%
Template:Valued_image|150%
Template:Assessments|150%
Template:Assessments/commons/featured|175%
Template:Picture_of_the_day|200%

You last updated them back in 2014 and noone who currently works on this was around back then, so you might know more about their history and policy (if there even is one?) around changing them.

How should we go about making this happen? Based on the revision history, I suspect these numbers were selected by staff based on whatever data or gut feeling made sense at that time (which no longer matches current findings.) Am I right, or did the numbers come about via another process?

Can you make those changes? Should staff update the page? Can staff update the page going forward if we want to iterate on these numbers later on, as we monitor the impact of the changes?

Thanks! Mmullie (WMF) (talk) 08:49, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mmullie (WMF): I don't believe there ever was a policy on changing boost scores for CirrusSearch. 2014 was in a completely different era, so I think it more likely the numbers were based on a gut feeling from whoever suggested them. I can make the changes you proposed, but I also feel it should be fine for Foundation staff to update the page, in consultation with the community, particularly as you are the ones monitoring their impact. Let me know if you want to make the edits or if you prefer I did them for the time being. Thanks, odder (talk) 12:39, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Odder: Ok cool - I'm happy to make the changes myself and continue to monitor them over the next couple of weeks. I just wanted to make sure there is no history or process behind the existing configuration that I didn't know about :) Mmullie (WMF) (talk) 07:05, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File:Wiktionary-logo-diq.png[edit]

Hi my friend, this logo can be, but text is wrong. Can you change "wikiqısebend" and "friddja sàtnegirji change to qısebendo xoser"? thanks, my best regards Xorasan (talk) 15:33, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Saraiki Wikipedia[edit]

Hi,

I haven't asked you about logos for a while :)

The Saraiki Wikipedia was approved by the language committee. The current logo at File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-skr.svg is broken: it just says "encyclopedia" and not "Free encyclopedia". The full string is supposed to be آزاد بھوم ڳوجھی

. In addition, the rendering is incorrect: The first letter in the second word, ڳ (Gueh), is not connected to the next letter. The font that was used in the logo probably doesn't support it. It's a relatively rare letter, used only in a few languages, so it's no very surprising (although still quite sad).

At this link you can see several freely-licensed fonts that appear to support it well. The one that looks best to me is Lateef, which was specifically made for Sindhi and other languages of South Asia. Saraiki is geographically and culturally close to Sindhi, so it makes sense to me to use it.

Can you do it? :) --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:25, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Amir E. Aharoni: I can certainly try :-) I've uploaded a new version of File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-skr.svg using the Lateef font, but as far as I can see, the Gueh still isn't connected to the next letter (looking right-to-left)? Should I fix this manually? Also the subline font size is smaller than in the previous version, but this can be easily changed. I hope you're doing well, odder (talk) 15:56, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ouch, looks like none of them are connected. That's weird. Are you sure that Arabic support is enabled in your graphics software? I know that some graphics tools still don't support it perfectly well, even in 2020 (it's definitely true about some Adobe products, and maybe about some others). --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 20:06, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni, @odder. Kindly use noto nastaliq urdu font, see:

Oh, okay. Nastaliq Urdu is fine with me, especially if that's what the writers want. It may be a bit challenging because of the shape, bit let's hope Odder can handle it :) --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 06:25, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Amir E. Aharoni, @Sraiki: Let's see, shall we? ;) I've uploaded a version of the logo using Noto Nastaliq Urdu to my personal website as Wikipedia-logo-v2-skr-v3.svg, could you have a look? It's wildly different from the current version so I didn't want to keep uploading and re-uploading it here on Commons, but if it's a-okay than I'll of course upload it here. Thanks, odder (talk) 10:16, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! The letters are rendered correctly. They look a bit small, but if Sraiki thinks it's OK, then I'm OK, too. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 11:12, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@odder, @Amir E. Aharoni, OK THanks, Yes They look bit small, Font size be increased. The word وکیـپـیـڈیا

may be written in any other font. So that the length of both line be balanced.Sraiki (talk) 18:58, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Madurese Wikipedia[edit]

Madurese Wikipedia logo

Hi :)

This one should be relatively simple!

The Madurese Wikipedia is about to be created. The logo is on Commons, and I checked that the text is correct, but it's possible that the font, the size, and the resolution are not the best. Also, I'm not sure that it's properly mentioned in the server configuration files.

Can you please check?

(Mentioning User:Martin Urbanec, who's running the creation process.)

Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 17:20, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Amir E. Aharoni: I've just had a look at this and the logo is pretty much spot on. The subline text is slightly longer than technically permissible, but it's a long phrase so I think this should be fine. odder (talk) 09:30, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks!
A couple of questions though:
  • Are you totally sure it's the right font? To me, it looks a bit different from the usual, but maybe it's because of the size.
  • The actual Wikipedia shows a fuzzy logo in English to me. Is a configuration change needed? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:59, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni: I re-created the logo from scratch and it looked almost exactly the same as the one created by Gunarta (WMID); I think they might have simply reduced the space between letters and words to fit the subline text within the prescribed space. As for your second question, this is because the wiki hasn't got a local logo in the Git repository and is using the English Wikipedia logo for standard and higher densities. As you might have seen, I created a Phabricator task for this and uploaded patches #651462 and #651465 which will fix that. Sadly, there are no deployments scheduled until next year as staff are on holiday, so it'll have to wait a little. odder (talk) 11:24, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:30, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi,

Another logo :)

For the Tyap language, code kcg. They've been unusually fast in translatewiki.

Text:

Wikipedia
Wikipidya
The Free Encyclopedia
A̠sa̠t A̠gban Lyen Wu

The diacritic under A is "macron below". It's supposed to look like a horizontal line underneath the letter.

Take your time, no rush :)

Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 22:33, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Amir E. Aharoni: So... How does File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-kcg.svg look like to you? ;) odder (talk) 11:31, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Looks mostly good to me, but User:Kambai Akau should also take a look :)
I say "mostly" because I noticed that the "W" in the second line doesn't look the same as in the first. Perhaps both lines should use the stylized Wikipedia W with four spikes? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:30, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni: Ha! I noticed this, too! However there are other Wikipedia logos with the upper-case letter "W" (most notably the Polish Wikipedia logo that don't use the stylized version of this letter, so I think maybe not? odder (talk) 14:41, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well... let's consider it a known... feature ;)
Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 16:11, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It looks "Wow!" Thanks odder. We indeed appreciate. Kambai Akau (talk) 16:21, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Logo of Thai Wikipedia[edit]

Hi,

The vowel on logo of Thai Wikipedia is in wrong position ("-ุ"), it must be on the bottom right of "น" instead of centre, i just upload a new version of SVG file at File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-th.svg but it doesn't change on the menu bar. Can you please fix a logo for the Thai Wikipedia on PNG version?

Thanks! --JMKTIN (talk) 04:38, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@JMKTIN: Thanks for the help. Has this been discussed anywhere? I'd just like to make sure we're not updating this logo without the agreement of the local community. odder (talk) 11:06, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nias[edit]

Nias Wikipedia logo

Hi,

The logo for the upcoming Nias Wikipedia is already done. Can you please check that it's graphically valid and correctly configured? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:49, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Amir E. Aharoni: The logo looks perfect; well done to @Banio ba Hinako who drew it. I notice that it hasn't been uploaded to Gerrit yet (as part of the Phabricator creation task). Would you like me to do it? (CC @Martin Urbanec who I see is subscribed to that task). odder (talk) 11:22, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your appreciation. Banio ba Hinako (talk) 01:49, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it would be nice, but can you, along the way, update the wikitech:Wikimedia site requests page to make it more detailed and usable by more people?
I wanted to try to do it myself, but I wasn't even sure how to start. It says "After converting the source SVG to PNG images", but what's the Right Way to do that? Can I just download the PNG that Commons auto-creates, or should I use some utility to create the PNG file? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:24, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni I also uploaded PNG version here. Banio ba Hinako (talk) 01:49, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amire80: I just use the PNG auto-generated by Commons (rightly sized by manually editing the PNG's URL) and then run it through the optimalizations outlined at the wikitech page linked above. Never had problems, but there might be a better way perhaps? Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 11:01, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And what is supposed to be the size of the PNG? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:39, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Logo configuration instructions[edit]

Hi,

Generalizing on the previous topics of Nias and Madurese: Can you please check whether the page wikitech:Add a wiki has correct and complete instructions for wiki creators to configure the logos for all the resolutions? I suspect that it doesn't.

Tagging User:Martin Urbanec, who is often involved in this. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:51, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Amire80: To my knowledge, wikitech:Wikimedia site requests#Change the logo of a Wikimedia wiki is the go-to page on that subject; I believe it has indeed got complete instructions. As you rightly point out, it's @Martin Urbanec who is mostly involved on the Gerrit side of things these days so he can confirm this is correct. @Gilles is also the person who added those instructions in the first place. odder (talk) 11:14, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I added a link to it to wikitech:Add a wiki. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:19, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And yeah, wikitech:Wikimedia site requests is the page that should eventually document all of site requests (be it adding a namespace or changing a logo). As always, ping me if you need any help :). Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 11:02, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi,

The last thing for today (probably): The Altay Wikipedia is going to be approved soon. Can you please make a logo?

It's similar to Russian, so notice the italic font in the second line.

The text is

  • Википедия
  • Јайым энциклопедия

All the letters are Cyrillic. The first letter in the second line is the same one that is used in Serbian and Macedonian Cyrillic.

Thanks! :) --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:55, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot to mention the source for the Altay text: discussion with Batyr Komdoshev on translatewiki. I also verified with a dictionary. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:58, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni: How does File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-alt.svg look like? :-) odder (talk) 12:00, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! The text is correct, but the look of the Cyrillic letters is different from the Russian logo. It's most obvious with the letters ц and д (the third letter from the beginning and the third letter from the end in the word энциклопедия).
Perhaps you've used slanting instead of using the true italic version of the font? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:09, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni: Ah, yes, I thought this needed to be upper case italic and so edited it by hand. I've now updated the file to match the Russian Wikipedia logo; does that look better? odder (talk) 10:46, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect, thank you! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:34, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi!
The alt.wikipedia.org domain has been created, but I see the generic English logo there. Does the configuration have to be updated?
The mni.wikipedia.org domain has also been created more or less at the same time, and the logo there appears to be correctly configured, but it would be nice if you could check.
Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 16:39, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni: It looks like this was missed during the wiki creation stage; logos now need to be added to wmf-config/logos.php. mniwiki logo has been added there but altwiki is missing. I can add it if you like? odder (talk) 09:41, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, please :)
Does the documentation about logo configuration have to be updated? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 10:51, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni: It looks like there's been another change of the process (as described here). I'm not familiar with this new way, so I'll need a few days to read up on it or someone else can configure the new logo in the mean time. Sorry about that. odder (talk) 22:06, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Meetei[edit]

Hi,

Another logo request, this time in a unique writing system!

This one is for the Meetei language, also known as Manipuri. The iso code is mni.

The text is:

  • ꯋꯤꯀꯤꯄꯦꯗꯤꯌꯥ
  • ꯃꯅꯤꯡꯇꯝꯕ ꯂꯧꯁꯤꯡꯒꯤ ꯄꯨꯀꯩ

It appears on the main page at incubator:Wp/mni/Main Page, and I also verified that it's correct with another speaker.

If you don't have a font, you can find one at https://www.google.com/get/noto/#sans-mtei

Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:44, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry @Amir E. Aharoni, I don’t seem to have received a notification for this message! I’ll try to draw the logo as soon as possibly, but possibly only on Thursday. Stay tuned and apologies for the delay :-( odder (talk) 20:11, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Logo for mni by User:Luwanglinux
No problem, you're always very helpful :)
Apparently, another user already made a logo. Can you please verify that it's technically correct in terms of size, resolution, etc.? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 08:19, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni: Sadly, this is not a correct or valid SVG file but merely a raster file pasted into a vector format. I've re-drawn this from scratch using the Noto Sans Meetei Mayek font and uploaded under File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-mni-v2.svg — could you have a look and verify that it's fine? Thank you, odder (talk) 20:28, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, it looks good to me, and a Meetei speaker verified it, too! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 13:08, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please participate in the Universal Code of Conduct consultation on Wikimedia Commons![edit]

Dear Odder

Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.

After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a policy (available in many languages) that has been ratified by the Board of Trustees. We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. As a member of the functionary team of Wikimedia Commons, your opinion on enforcement is of great value. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so. There are a few enforcement questions so you can easily outline your answers based on them. Please do not hesitate to bring any more questions/challenges you think are not yet discussed.

The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.

As a valued member of the Commons community, please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences that relate to UCoC. Let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.

Wikimedia projects are governed by you. So, it is you who needs to step up to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you! Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 10:18, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a short survey regarding UCoC[edit]

Hello Odder,

I would like to inform you that we now have a survey in place to take part in the UCoC consultation. It is not a long one and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. You can take the survey even if you have already participated in the on-wiki consultation. It has a different set of questions and allows you to participate anonymously and privately.

As a member of the Commons functionaries, your opinion is especially essential. Please click here to participate in the survey.

You are still welcome to participate in the on-wiki discussions. If you prefer you can have your say by sending me an email. You can also drop me an email if you want to have a one-to-one chat.

Thank you for your participation! Wikitanvir (WMF) 13:54, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Logo of Atayal Wikipedia and Seediq Wikipedia[edit]

Good day there,

It seems that the request for Atayal Wikipedia and Seediq Wikipedia will soon be put into the final decision. Now we have to create Wikipedia logo for both. We would like to know where or how can we deal with it. Thank you.

The translation of the text on the logo in Atayal:

WIKIPEDIA: Wikibitia

The Free Encyclopedia: zizyuw na birubitia

The translation of the text on the logo in Seediq:

WIKIPEDIA: Wikipitiya

Iyumu (talk) 02:50, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Iyumu: I wanted to have a go at this, but I notice that the name used for Wikipedia in incubator:Wp/tay/Main Page is "Wikipidia", not "Wikibitia". Likewise, for Seediq the main page uses "Wikipidiya", not "Wikipitiya". Can you please double-check? Jon Harald Søby (talk) 10:46, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear @Jon Harald Søby: ,

Good day there. Thanks for your messages. For Atayal, we've changed the text on the main page that we would like to follow our final decision: Wikibitia.

For Seediq, sorry for my misplacing of the text before. Here is the correction:

WIKIPEDIA: Wikipidiya

The Free Encyclopedia: rrawah pataspidiya

File:Civil Air Patrol US.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi Odder. There is a bug in the lib rsvg that prevents it showing the stars on previous version of File:Flag of Brazil.svg (rsvg can't handle use elements referencing another use element). I took your last flag version and applied this workaround:

Could you upload it, please? (It's not optimal, but it's far better than the current version). The file is protected from overwriting, so I can't do it by myself. Best regards. Giro720 (talk) 16:38, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Giro720: There is no way for us to fix the previous versions of a file. The current version displays correctly in the "File history" section so I think it would be best to just leave it as is. As for the protection status, the file was subject to an upload/edit war not so long ago and I'd rather not unprotect it for the time being. Thank you, odder (talk) 10:59, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I understood your position and It was fine for me. But recently another user noticed that the "G" letter in the flag has issues (it's an "O" with 2 dashes). So, I would ask you to reconsider uploading a new version of the flag (the one I sent you or another one) fixing it, please. Giro720 (talk) 15:05, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Giro720: Ah yes, I've never noticed that myself, it did look quite strange indeed. I've now uploaded a version of the flag (using your code from just above) and it should be fixed now. Many thanks, odder (talk) 12:37, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

FA Wikipedia logo SVG[edit]

Hey, per Amir's feedback here https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T261033 I've updated the SVG so that the wordmark ("Wikipedia") and the tagline ("The free encyclopedia") are more similarly sized. I've updated the PNG but the SVG seems to be protected. If you are able to update it you can find the SVG here: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T261033#6878536

Autopatrolled...[edit]

Hi. No need to patrol the edits of User:Eunostos? Just one recent example. Find the others yourself please. Cheers. --E4024 (talk) 15:14, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. E4024 cancelled several of my modifications and did not answer when I tried to open discussion on the discussion page of the Category talk:Thalatta! Thalatta!. And now I find him denouncing me to another user ? How is this constructive or respectful ? I never claimed any of my contributions were perfect, but cancelling them with little or no explanation, and without trying to understand what I try to do, will just discourage me and not help me to contribute better. --Eunostos (talk) 15:21, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@E4024: Patrolled edits are edits that are not vandalism. @Eunostos has been a good-faith contributor to Wikimedia Commons for over a decade now and I have no doubt that their edits are made to improve Commons. If you disagree over issues of categorisation, then there are well-established community processes unrelated to whether Eunostos's edits are automatically patrolled or not. I encourage you to follow them to reach an agreement where it currently might be missing. odder (talk) 17:22, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dagbani logo resolution[edit]

Hi!

This is not a request for a new logo :)

It's a technical question about an existing one.

When I look at incubator:Template:Wp/dag/Top Banner on the desktop screen on a Mac, I see a good-looking high-resolution Dagbani Wikipedia logo in the page content. But when I look at the same page using the mobile screen, I see a fuzzy logo. This happens on the same Mac using the .m. URL, and also on my Samsung Galaxy S20 FE phone. As far as I know, both devices are able to show the high-resolution image, so there's either a bug in how the image is inserted into the template, or a bug in how Mobile Frontend works.

Can you think of a solution?

Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 06:36, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Amir E. Aharoni, apologies for the late reply. MobileFrontend has the ability to serve high-density versions of files for mobile users, but I believe the setting was disabled all the way back in 2016 for performance reasons. I don't know that it can be enabled again, but it might be worth to at least start the conversation. odder (talk) 11:30, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'll try to talk to the relevant people. Sounds too limiting for 2021. But maybe I'm too accustomed to affordable broadband?.. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 03:41, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I realized there's an easy solution to this problem, and it should be done anyway: It's a PNG file, and there's no SVG version. The font also seems to be wrong.
"Wikipedia" is written as in English and "Free encyclopedia" is "Baŋsim bayana kundi". Can you make it? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 16:37, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni: Sure—how does File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-dag.svg look like? odder (talk) 12:45, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming files unscrupulously[edit]

A person is renaming the pdf files without any discussion. Abkhazian logo update[edit]

Hi,

The current Abkhazian Wikipedia logo says "Аенциклопедиа хту", which is "The open encyclopedia".

Its administrator Surprizi asked me to change it to "Зхы иақәиҭу аенциклопедиа". You can see it at this page in the end, and also here.

I checked a dictionary, and indeed, "Зхы иақәиҭу аенциклопедиа" is the precise translation for "The free encyclopedia".

Can you please create an updated version of File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-ab.svg and deploy it? Surprizi tried it, but the font is wrong, and he doesn't know how to deploy.

Technical notes:

  • Since it's Cyrillic, it must be italic.
  • The letters қ and ҭ are special. I hope the font supports them well. қ is common in some other languages, but ҭ is used only in Abkhazian. If it looks a bit like Latin m in cursive, it's probably OK—that's how small Cyrillic т usually looks in cursive. I'll know how to verify that it looks correctly.

Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 08:59, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Amir E. Aharoni: Apologies for the delay in getting back to you (a whole month!). I was on my annual leave when you wrote to me, and then I kept postponing the creation of this new logo as I thought it'd take a while. In any case, I've uploaded a new version under File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-ab-new.svg — how does it look? odder (talk) 09:21, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I suspect that the ҭ is not correct, but it's probably the font's fault. I'll try to check with the font's maintainers. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 10:34, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think I can get a proper italic font here any time soon :/
Can you perhaps make it with a regular, not italic font? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 10:15, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Logo of the two new Wikipedias[edit]

Good day. Thank you for creating the logos of Atayal Wikipedia and Seediq Wikipedia early this year. Now we have two new versions of Wikipedia, Paiwan Wikipedia and Amis Wikipedia, which are approved and creating the site now (phabricator:T292414 (ami), phabricator:T292415 (pwn)). Please help us create the logo based on the script below.

For Paiwan Wikipedia:

1. Wikipedia = wikipidiya

2. The free encyclopedia = silailaing ta vinarungan a sapitj a pidiya

For Amis Wikipedia:

1. Wikipedia = Wikipitiya

2. The free encyclopedia = paifaloco’an pitiya a tilid

Thank you! Iyumu (talk) 08:07, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Iyumu, a few questions:
  1. Is the name "Wikipedia" supposed to be written with small or capital letters? Actually, in the Latin alphabet it's usually written "WikipediA", with first and last capital letter. But I know that some Taiwanese languages have special rules about uppercase letters...
  2. The Paiwan "The Free Encyclopedia" string is a bit long. Can it perhaps be shorter?
  3. In Amis, is it supposed to be "paifaloco’an" or "Paifaloco’an", with a capital letter?
  4. Does "paifaloco’an" mean "free" as in "freedom" or in "zero dollars"? I could find the answer to this for "vinarungan" myself, but I couldn't find it for "paifaloco’an". Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 10:14, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni,
  1. Yes. In Sakizaya and Paiwan language, we mostly don't use only capital letters.
  2. For this one, it is the final version after a long discussion for now. Maybe we can do with two lines?
  3. In Amis language, they use capital letters in the beginning of sentences. For this one, I think when they were doing translating, they took it as a phrase instead of a sentence. So they got a small p here.
  4. As I know, faloco means heart. So I guess this word "paifaloco’an" means "to go with your heart." Iyumu (talk) 00:58, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 06:55, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni Hi, I have asked the community of Amis that Paifaloco’an pitiya a tilid, with the capital P, is better for this one. And for Paiwan language, please hold a while for us to see if we can have a shorter version for The free encyclopedia. Thank you. Iyumu (talk) 12:43, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni, @Iyumu: Just by the way, I created a logo for the Amis Wikipedia under File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-ami.svg, I hope it looks okay? As for the Paiwan Wikipedia, I tried adding the subline text, but it was very long and therefore the font was quite small — it looked really bad/practically unreadable. I hope the local community can agree on a shorter text. odder (talk) 08:46, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni, @odder: Good day. For the Paiwan version of "The free encyclopedia," we have a shorter version as " sivaruvarung a sapitj a pidiya." Thank you. Iyumu (talk) 09:13, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@odder: Big thanks from both Amis and Paiwan communities. Thank you for helping the creation of the logos! Iyumu (talk) 09:16, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Iyumu: Should this new phrase for the Paiwan Wikipedia be lower case only? Or should it spell "sivaruvarung" with a capital S? I'm just glad to be able to help :-) odder (talk) 17:59, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@odder:Hello! Basically, we use lower case letters in Paiwan language. So it's good to have "sivaruvarung a sapitj a pidiya" with all in lower case letters. Thank you! Iyumu (talk) 04:08, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Iyumu, @Amir E. Aharoni: Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I've now uploaded File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-pwn.svg — how does it look? odder (talk) 16:26, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@odder, perfect! Thank you!Iyumu (talk) 16:50, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Good day odder, can you help put the logos on the both sites of Wikipedia Paiwan and Wikipedia Amis? Thank you. Iyumu (talk) 05:18, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Iyumu: This will require new Phabricator requests. Please open a request for each logo, linking to SVG files here on Commons (ami, pwn). One of the Phabricator volunteers will then add the logo to each wiki's configuration when they can, from Monday onwards. odder (talk) 19:52, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thank you! I've opened the tasks on Phabricator. Iyumu (talk) 13:50, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Prośba w sprawie wandala / trolla[edit]

Rzecz dotyczy usera "82.25.126.28, PolishBoyInUK, Gejzir.owski".

How we will see unregistered users[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Update for Tyap[edit]

Hi,

Some time ago, you've created the logo for the Tyap Wikipedia. The domain is probably going to be created soon, and the logo needs an update. @Kambai Akau convinced me that the correct spelling for the site name is "Wukipedia", owing to the phonetic rules of the language.

Can you please update it?

Thanks a lot! Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 06:55, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Amir E. Aharoni, this should now be done :-) odder (talk) 12:58, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Revert Request for the Flag of Slovenia[edit]

Hi, I made a request on the flag of Slovenia's talk page. The current colors of the flag are based on CMYK values given in here but it is much brighter than the provided picture and the PDF provided in the same source(here). Just converting CMYK to RGB is not very accurate. For the flag of Montenegro(for which only CMYK values are given), we used the colors from the provided document rather than the given CMYK values because it was too bright. I have actually uploaded that flag with CMYK so we can see the difference. For Slovenia, the PDF is quite clear and I think we should follow that. There already is a version that uses the PDF colors in the file history and it just needs to be reverted. I think the flag of Montenegro is a good precedent to do just that.

These are the colors shown in the document. So can you please revert the file? Thanks. Kamran.nef (talk) 21:50, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Kamran.nef: I can see that you've posted the same message at File talk:Flag of Slovenia.svg. Let's give the people who were involved in the revert wars over this file time to respond. odder (talk) 13:14, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but it was months ago and no one answered. I asked user:Jdx who has the last revert to make the change. They told me that they are no longer an admin. I have checked the Admins list and user:Zscout370 who was involved, is not an admin anymore. The current colors are based one CMYK(which are for print) but the PDF clearly shows the intended color. We did the exact same thing for Montenegro. If you look at any picture of the Slovene flag in real life you will see it's much darker an more closely resembles the previous version. It is darker everywhere but Wikipedia. I was Invovled in the correction of other flag colors like Azerbaijan and Andorra. I'm sure about the Slovene flag. Kamran.nef (talk) 14:02, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Odder: I am quite sure that following the given official picture is more accurate than just using CMYK values. this has the exact colors of the document's picture. Kamran.nef (talk) 17:51, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Minor Tweak in the Flag of Austria[edit]

Hello, in here every source states that the color of the Austrian flag should be Pantone 032 C and based on the official Pantone website it should be #ef3340 (currently it is #ed2939 which is incorrect). As I said above, user:Zscout370 is not an admin anymore. So can you please change the color to fit the Wiki page and Pantone.com and this official source. Thanks. Kamran.nef (talk) 12:09, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Kamran.nef: I'm confused. This article on the German language Wikipedia says the Austrian flag has the Pantone colour of 186 C and that the hexadecimal value is #C8102E. Isn't that correct? odder (talk) 17:58, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is based on this and it confuses me too because in here it says Pantone 032 C. In this website of bundesheer at the end of the page in the additional information, both documents can be found. I don't know which one is more recent and what we should consider for the flag. So if we are going to keep Pantone 032 C, the correct shade of red should be #ef3340. But I think choosing 186 C is also valid.
But it seems everywhere they are using the lighter version 1 , 2.In this article says(google translate):"Only the shade of red for the sovereign symbols used in the Federal Ministry of Defense is regulated . Fixed here : The red in the Austrian national colors has the characteristic Pantone 032 C". But it is an old article and this manufacturer uses the darker colors. I think it should be Panton 186 C. What do you think? Kamran.nef (talk) 10:31, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Kamran.nef: I agree. I've uploaded a new version of the flag using Pantone 186 C & hexadecimal #C8102E as described on the German-language Wikipedia article. odder (talk) 17:01, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I see, thank you. I've been researching and it seems 186 C is correct. Kamran.nef (talk) 17:46, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Color Tweak in the Danish flag[edit]

Hi, sorry for another request but some files cannot be overwritten by non-admins. The color of the Danish flag supposes to be also 186 C as stated in the Danish Wikipedia page. There it gives different RGB and Hex values for 186 C(they don't even match each other) but I think it is because the Official Pantone color picker is relatively new. It seems the is no official shade of red for the Danish flag but the Wikipedia seemingly uses Pantone 186 C (but with #C60C30 instead of #C8102E). So please correct the shade of red. Best regards. Kamran.nef (talk) 01:09, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Kamran.nef: Good spot. I haven't seen the Pantone picker before, but they also use #cb102e for Pantone 186 C, so I think it'll be fine. I've uploaded a new version of the Danish flag using that colour. odder (talk) 09:19, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much. Kamran.nef (talk) 11:29, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I want to re-do this discussion with a proposal to restore consistency, because common practice of the last 8 years has been to ignore the precautionary principle and it should therefore be changed. Last discussions here and here. Anything I need to be aware of or can I make "Commons:Review of precautionary principle 2"? Hekerui (talk) 10:55, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Hekerui: Apologies for the late reply. I think it should be fine to start such a review; as you say, if the common practice over the past eight years has been to ignore the precautionary principle despite the outcome of that original review, then it's something we should definitely look at again. odder (talk) 10:50, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I am messaging you because a contest for a sound logo for Wikimedia is being developed and your opinion as a Wikimedia Commons admin is appreciated. My team would like to know if it is possible for the top finalist sound logos in the contest to have attribution temporarily hidden from public view until all the votes are final? The idea is to let the public judge the sound logo contestants based on the merit of the logo, not the person or people who made it. Again, any feedback is appreciated.

Thank you,

New Logo for Tyap Wikimedians User Group[edit]

Hi Odder, Greetings! I am here to ask for your help in designing a logo for the Tyap Wikimedians User Group asap. The one I initially made (File:Tyap Wikimedians User Group logo.jpg) didn't pass the trademark requirements for a user group logo. Much appreciation in anticipation. Regards. Kambai Akau (talk) 13:59, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Kambai Akau! I've created File:Tyap Wikimedians User Group.svg based on the logo used by the Basque Wikimedians user group, how does it look? odder (talk) 18:28, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my... It's lovely. Thanks a bunch! Kambai Akau (talk) 18:41, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry Odder. I just got a new mail from Trademark asking for a revisal of the logo design, stating that user groups ought use variants of the "Community logo" ( File:Wikimedia Community Logo 2.svg) rather than the "Foundation logo" currently being used. Please help me out again to revise it using the "globe" logo rather than the "hand" logo. Thanks, immeasurably! Kambai Akau (talk) 20:52, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@[User:Kambai Akau|Kambai Akau]]: This is incorrect. Wikimedia movement affiliate logos: best practice page clearly mentions that user group logos may be based on the Wikimedia Foundation logo, which this one is. I would like them to reconsider. odder (talk) 10:53, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! Okay. Great, then! I would ask them to have a reconsideration in that case. Thanks indeed. Kambai Akau (talk) 19:43, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Logo for Fante and Twi[edit]

Hi!

I received requests for Wikipedia logos in Twi (tw) and Fante (fat). They are related languages. Twi has its own Wikipedia, and there's also Akan (ak), which is in the same language. The Akan one uses the same logo as Twi File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-ak.svg, but several people told me that the translation "Nimdeebuukuu kwa" is not great. @Robertjamal12, who is an administrator in tw.wikipedia and an organizer of the fat Incubator, suggested these translations:

  • tw: Nimdeɛhoma ma obiara
  • fat: Nwomapɔn ma obiara

Can you please make these? tw will also need deployment later. The ak one can be ignored because the Wikipedia will likely be closed soon.

Thanks! Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 16:18, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Amir E. Aharoni, do File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-tw.svg and File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-fat.svg look okay? :) odder (talk) 20:24, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello odder, Thank you so much for your assistance, this looks beautiful. Please can you help make a version that says Wikipedia instead of Wikipidia. Thank you once again. Robertjamal12 (talk) 08:51, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify what Robert said: just change "Wikipidia" to "Wikipedia". No alternative version is needed, just "Wikipedia", like in English. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:42, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Amir E. Aharoni, @Robertjamal12: Ah, I must have misunderstood the request. I've now updated both logos to say "Wikipedia" instead. I've also made the subline text a little bigger. odder (talk) 18:55, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
odder, Thank you -- Robertjamal12 (talk) 19:29, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I am contacting you for a matter related to the Extremaduran Wikipedia logo. Extremaduran is a language in the process of regulation, and some rules have changed since his Wikipedia was born, and that affects the text of the logo.

- First of all, the name of that Wikipedia would be different. Instead of Güiquipeya it would be Güiquipedia.

- The lower text, instead of La enciclopeya libri should be La ciclopedia libri.

The problem is that Wikipedia is currently without administrators (The previous ones left the project). Right now I'm the main editor and I'm in charge of continuing the translation, according to the new rules, but I don't have special permissions and I don't know how to change the logo and upload it to the web header. Could you help us in any way?

Thank you very much, sincerely

@Sa~eswiki: I've created a new logo for you under File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-ext-new.svg. I hope it looks okay. (The ü looks a little weird to me.) To have it changed on your wiki, open a request on Phabricator and use Wikimedia-Site-requests and Logos as your tags. A volunteer will then change your wiki's configuration for you by submitting a patch to Gerritt. odder (talk) 18:26, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

File:Valenzuela Seal.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not.

Thank you!

Help desk[edit]

Chodziłoby o dodanie go do biogramu zamieszczonego na polskiej WP. Eteru (talk) 17:42, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Eteru: Moim zdaniem logo instytucji znajdujące się na dokumencie nie stanowiłoby powodu, dla którego nie można byłoby załadować go do Commons, o ile logo stanowiłby niewielką część dokumentu (zob. Commons:De minimis). Większą komplikację stanowiłby sam wygląd dokumentu — zwłaszcza biorąc pod uwagę fakt, iż Academia Europaea jest organizacją zarejestrowaną w Wielkiej Brytanii, gdzie próg oryginalności jest bardzo niski, tzn. nawet najprostsze prace mogą stanowić przedmiot prawa autorskiego (zob. Commons:Threshold of originality#United Kingdom). odder (talk) 23:41, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Logo request for Tyap Wiktionary[edit]

Greetings, Odder! I am here to request for the creation of a logo for the Tyap Wiktionary. "Wukiswánga̱lyiat" is the translation for "Wiktionary" in Tyap, currently. Meanwhile, "A̱gban swang a̱lyiat ma̱sa̱t wu" is the translation for "The free dictionary". Thanks for your help in advance. Warm regards, Kambai Akau (talk) 10:11, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Kambai Akau: Sure. Can you confirm that you would like a tile design logo? That's the logo that most Wiktionaries use. odder (talk) 19:39, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @odder: Yeah, confirmed. Thanks! And sorry, there has been an adjustment in the syntax of the term for "Wiktionary" in Tyap. The preferred translation is now "Swánga̱lyiatwuki" (no more "Wukiswánga̱lyiat"). I appreciate. Kambai Akau (talk) 20:34, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kambai Akau: The translation for "The free dictionary" is rather long, so the best I could come up with is File:Wiktionary-logo-kcg.svg. I hope this will work for you. odder (talk) 17:27, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, yeah @odder. Thanks a million. I indeed appreciate. But I made an omission of the rising tone in the "a" in "swáng" here: "A̱gban swáng a̱lyiat ma̱sa̱t wu". Please help me fix this. Apart from this, the logo is perfectly okay. Kambai Akau (talk) 07:11, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kambai Akau: Sure thing, I've now uploaded a new version of the logo with the missing accent. odder (talk) 00:19, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, wow! Thanks again and again. Warm regards. Kambai Akau (talk) 08:37, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

-- Jakubhal 14:29, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jakubhal: Sprawdziłem właśnie listę plików znajdujących się w Category:Featured pictures on Wikipedia, Polish i Category:Images by Jacek Halicki, ale nie w Category:Corrected by Jacek Halicki i widzę, że kategoria Category:Featured picture on the Polish Wikipedia by Jacek Halicki została już dodana do wszystkich plików. Niestety dodałem tę kategorię nieprawidłowo do 32 plików (wszystkie edycje już wycofane). Jeszcze raz dzięki za zwrócenie uwagi na ten błąd. odder (talk) 15:51, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello Odder.

A few months ago I asked you for help to change the Extremaduran Wikipedia logo. Fortunately, it has already been changed and we already have the logo with the text written correctly, but both in the new Vector version and in the mobile version the previous text appears. I have seen that in these versions the logo and the legend appear in 3 superimposed images. Those that correspond to the text that should be changed are these:

[8]

[9]

In the first case, the correct name would be Güiquipedia, instead of Güiquipeya. In the second, the correct thing would be La ciclopedia libri , not enciclopeya.

I don't know how to request the change, with a Phabricator request similar to the one I did to change the logo?

Thank you very much for your help. Best regards Sa~eswiki (talk) Sa~eswiki (talk) 00:03, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Sa~eswiki: That's correct. It appears that the two files were created from the old Extremaduran Wikipedia logo rather than the new one (File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-ext.svg rather than File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-ext-new.svg). It's just that these files need changing, so if you open a new Phabricator request, someone will update these files for you. odder (talk) 11:25, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
