Do you really think it is a good idea to transform the first block of a user into an indefinite block? Blocks should be gradual, so unless you have other reasons that I don't see, I suggest you revise the duration... --Eusebius (talk) 17:23, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All of the user's contributions are copyright violations, some of them includes the copyright tag. It seems a lot crucial than uploading files with incomplete information, and it feels that if the user was free by tomorrow, the next uploads would be copyvios as well. I'm sorry but you cannot just suppose that this user will never change and that he must be kept at large from Commons forever. You can't just ban a user for his first block, it's just wrong! We, as admins, have failed to spot the copyvios, and they have remained for months, but he received his first warning only two weeks ago (and we may have failed again by not blocking him for a small duration in the last days). If you're sure you want everyone to use your company logo everywhere, then you'd better fill the release form. Since I'm almost sure you only want to use it on the article in Wikipedia, the best way is to upload the image directly to the Wikipedia - using one of the logo sections. 3 images by Crucifixion[edit]

I was wondering about these 3 images by Crucifixion.

All 3 images have no date given at all...unlike other more legitimate images by this suspicious user. I checked TinEye and I see the first image may have come from here: [1]

  • You have to scroll down the web page a little and look to your left. (the question is whether the image existed before Crucifixion first uploaded it onto Commons?) Regarding the second and third images, as I note there is no date offered by Crucifixion and the resolution is very small and there is zero metadata to show if they were scanned from an existing photo. They look like possible copy vios. Have you examined the third and final image of Khufu. There is a black and white background around this statue as if it was cropped or scanned from an existing image and the resolution is SUPER small. (these appear to be like the highlights of a copy vio again)

What do you think? I have to go now as its 2:35 AM here in Canada. But please examine the images and consider if you think the uploader is the actual copyright holder or not. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 09:35, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've checked the user's contributions and talk page... According to Commons:Deletion_requests/Contributions_of_User:Crucifixion and Commons:Deletion_requests/Image:Amenhet.jpg I do suspect of a massive copyright violation. Especially when the user's reply for all the warnings in its talk page, was to remove them. I guess we could block the user, but the question is what to do with all the images...   • Some of this user's images have legit (camera) metadata...but these three above have nothing. I think they should be deleted. Given the super low resolution for image 2 and 3, its likely a copy vio. As for number 1, you can slap a copy vio or 'no permissions since' tag on it.

  • That's a good idea. Crucifixion left Commons long ago and won't reply to any messages. It looks like only a professional can decide which is legitimate and which are copy vios by him now sadly. My duty as an administator is to protect the copyrights. I know sometimes it feels as we're pour the water with the baby, but with all the copyright violations, there are some ways to make sure that the copyright holders would not be hurt.
