Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Deletetion requests

File:Biret duc.gif and other gif versions of Biret files are on list for deletion. We only need one copy of each of these images. I have chosen to get rid of the gif versions and keep the png ones. Odznaka olimpiady i zdjęcie Jerzego Steifera

Prawa autorskie wygasają dla autorów, którzy zmarli do 1935 włącznie. Jeśli nastąpiło to później, są ciągle w mocy i wymagana jest zgoda spadkobierców (w przypadku zdjęć mogą być one dopuszczone na warunkach {{PD-Polish}}, warunkiem jest wcześniejsza publikacja bez zastrzeżeń, jeśli pochodzi ono z rodzinnego albumu... to też potrzebna jest zgoda).

Zbieżność nazwisk pozwala przypuszczać, że jesteś potomiem Jerzego Steifera. W takim przypadku musisz wyraźnie zaznaczyć, że udostępniasz jego projekt odznaki na licencji GFDL, bo zgodnie z prawem jego prawa autorskie tracą moc dopiero w 2010 roku.

Co do zdjęcia: trzeba by zrobić to samo, albo powiedzieć, gdzie zostało opublikowane wcześniej i czy tam autor sobie zastrzegł (dopiskiem fot. lub (c)) prawa do niego. A.J. 11:34, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Tamte odznaczenia które przesłałeś są odznaczeniami państwowymi, ich wzór jest dokumentem urzędowym, więc sam obiekt nie jest przedmiotem praw autorskich: jego zdjęcie zaś nie jest reproduckją, więc nosi prawa autorskie twórcy (w tym przypadku: twoje). Co do tych grafik które pszysłałeś, porawiłem ich opisy i licencje. Brakuje tylko informacji, gdzie było opublikowane zdjęcie twojego stryja, warto je dopisać bo jest wymóg że grafiki muszą mieć podane źródło, nawet jeśli licencja jest poprawna. Co do zdjęć robionych na zamówienie przez fotografa: ściśle rzecz biorąc, jeśli nie było spisanej umowy, zachowuje on prawa autorskie... Miałem przez to problem ze zdjęciem swojej babci, który próbwano usunąć na tej podstawie. Do swoich zdjęć ślubnych zaś dopisałem na wszelki wypadek wzmiankę o umowie (chociaż jest ona jedynie ustna... jakby studio chciało ją podważyć, to nie byłoby żadnych problemów, bo przekazanie praw majątkowych musi mieć formę pisemną pod rygorem nieważności)... Tu już jednak zbliżamy się do tego, co jest określane jako "Copyright paranoia". Moje uwagi miały na celu właśnie zabezpieczenie przed możliwą przyszłą reakcją użytkowników Commons. Archeologia wojskowa

Zgoda wydawcy w której nie przedstawia on licencji jest niewiele warta (zobacz np. [1]). Skanowanie nie jest twórczością, więc kto robił skan nie ma żadnego znaczenia. Musisz uzyskać wyraźną zgodę z podaniem warunków licencji. Możesz przesłać mi Twoją korespondencję z wydawcą, czy to były ustalenia ustne? A.J. 10:06, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Może być i ustna (jak się zgodzi, możesz nawet telefon do niego podać), ale powinieneś napisać kto wyraził zgodę i na jakich warunkach. Ten ktoś musiałby Ci powiedzieć: tak, zgadzam się na licencję {{GFDL}} albo {{Cc-by-sa-2.5}} albo {{Cc-by-2.5}} albo {{Attribution}}, {{CopyrightedFreeUse}} itp. A.J. 11:06, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

http://aster.iespana.es/library/lapa.htm Mała uwaga, pierwszy rysunek na tej stronie jest lustrzanym odbiciem. Dlatego widać okno wyrzutowe łusek, a nie widać skrzydełka przełącznika rodzaju ognia. Komora zamkowa, łoże etc. są wykonane z ciemnoszarego polimeru. Karabin jest praktycznie jednobarwny :) Nemo5576 14:43, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Pisze tu bo nie mogę znaleźć innego prywatnego kontaktu z Tobą. Chodzi o Młodzieżowy slang. Nawet jeżeli hasło padnie, będzie można je napisać od nowa zważywszy że jest zmieniona nazwa. Normalnie trzeba odczekać 3 m-c. Taki sposób jest powiedzmy na granicy dopuszczalności i nie mam 100% pewności. Ale podsuwam Ci to rozwiązanie. Może skontaktuj się z Gythią czy tak można zrobić. Nawet jakby ktoś sprzątnął zanim uda się uzyskać pisemną zgodę, to można odzyskać... "Spisek" przeciwko PD-PRL wygasł, ale nie oznacza to, że grafiki z PD-PRL są bezpieczne, dopóki się nie wskaże pozainternetowego (książka, gazeta) źródła, skąd pochodzą: ale to już wynika z zasad ogólnych. I have uploaded a portion of your Douglas coat of arms (Image:Douglas hamiltonCoA.png) as the above image. My hope is to use it to replace a similar image recently deleted as a copyright violation that was used on over 100 articles in the English language Wikipedia via en:Template:Infobox Scottish island. It is my assumption that this does not violate the copyright of the original image, and my hope that you will be agreeable to its use in this manner. Please let me know if this is not the case. Jan II Zygmund Zápolya

Hi Tomek. We, it-wiki users, need your help: we appreciated the coat of arms of Jan II, that you loaded into Commons and we put in it-wiki, but now we are in trouble. We read the "Historical coat of arms of Transylvania", (both English and Roumenian version). It turns out that the coat of arms of Transylvania didn't exist at John II' times. So the coat of arms of John must be a forgery. Could you please tell us where is the original that you copied and loaded into Commons? I suppose it was created afterwards, as nobody knew how was his coat of arms. WItaj. Wstawiłeś do Commons kilka reprodukcji malarstwa Mariana Mokwy. Podpisałeś w informacjach o grafice, że jest to Twoja własna praca. Minąłeś się tu z prawdą, gdyż wszystkie te prace są Marian Mokwy. To że samodzielnie zeskanowałeś/sfotografowałeś nie upoważnia Cię do przypisywania sobie autorstwa. Jednocześnie naruszasz w ten sposób prawa autorskie malarza, umieszczając te grafiki przed zakończeniem okresu ochronnego od śmierci artysty. Przypomnam, że musi upłynąć 70 lat od śmierci malarza aby grafiki można było wykorzystywać w ten sposób. Ten okres jeszcze nie minął. Dla dobra projektu Wikipedii powstrzymaj się od dalszych tego typu działań naruszających prawa autorskie. Obłuże 16:26, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

jak wyjaśniłem w dyskusji zgłaszającego, i w dyskusji zakwestionowanych grafik był to mój błąd w opisie - grafiki były zdjęciami obrazów olejnych mojego autorstwa, inspirowanych obrazami Mokwy, a nie ich kopiami, reprodukcjami mechanicznymi czy skanami. Jako takie nie naruszały praw autorskich zmarłego wielkiego marynisty. Moim błędem było niedokładne wyjaśnienie tego w opisach grafik Steifer 18:29, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Coronet of an English Baron

Hello again! I wrote to you once before about the English Viscount's coronet.

I have noticed that your picture the coronet of an English Baron has a decorated rim. It is a peculiarity, but the Baron's coronet, unlike the coronets of other peers, doesn't have any decoration on the rim. It is just a plain band of metal, with four silver balls.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

Witam Tomasz, unfortunately I do not speak Polish, so let me write the rest in English. On the German Wikipedia we are currently discussing the use of the image CZ-24.svg in the respective artice about that handgun. In particular, there is some concern about the sources you used to render the drawing, and about the veracity of some of the details, like the shading of the metal parts below the slide with vertical lines, and the pattern of the wooden grips. Robisz ekstra herby ale popraw dwa z nich arcybiskupów Henryka Muszyńskiego i Leszka Sławoja Głodzia, w których kapelusze z chwostami uciekają za bardzo w prawo w stosunku do osi krzyża z podwójną belką. Będzie super, jak zrobisz również sam krzyż z potrójną belką zastrzeżony wyłącznie dla arcybiskupa gnieźnieńskiego, prymasa Polski i legata urodzonego reprezentującego papieża, noszony tylko na czele orszaku prowadzącego każdorazowo metropolitę i prymasa do archikatedry gnieźnieńskiej i bazyliki prymasowskiej oraz w procesjach podczas wszelkich uroczystości poza jego świątynią i umieścisz go w artykule Prymas Polski. Możesz zobaczyć jak on wygląda na stronie głównej serwisu prymaspolski.pl w prawym górnym narożniku.

Popraw jeszcze herb abpa Leszka Sławoja Głodzia, w którym kapelusz z chwostami ucieka za bardzo w prawo w stosunku do osi krzyża z podwójną belką - pisałem już o tym - i pomyśl o trójbelkowym krzyżu, jedynym w Polsce noszonym wyłącznie w Gnieźnie przed rezydującym i urzędującym tu właśnie zgodnie z wielowiekową tradycją prymasem, najwyższym dostojnikiem kościoła w Polsce. Przypominam, iż można go zobaczyć na stronie głównej serwisu prymaspolski.pl w prawym górnym narożniku.

Ponieważ nie masz swojej strony dyskusji (szkoda!) odpowiadam nietypowo, tu. Ułożenie kapelusza JE Abpa Metr. Gdańskiego poprawiłem, sprawdzałem chyba jest co do milimetra. Krzyż prymasów zrobię, ale mam wątpliwości czy zastąpić nim podwójny krzyż w herbie obecnego Ks. Prymasa, skoro w herbie na oficjalnej stronie jest jednak w wersji podwójnej? G'day Tomasz, you uploaded the files File:Tafperkeifsmedaille.png and File:Tafperkeifsmedaille.svg and categorised them as Category:Ribbon bars. This is a parent category and should only contain files by exception. I couldn't work out which country the medal was from. Could you expand the file descriptions to add more context (a rough English translation of the medal name would be good) and categorise to the appropriate categories? By way of example, if they are the ribbons for a Polish order, they would be categorised as Category:Ribbon bars of Poland and Category:Orders of Poland. • Witam ! Co do pytania w dyskusji artykułu, to płk Szopiński został powtórnie aresztowany dopiero po 23 kwietnia, kiedy jego cały II SBO WW zdezerterował, mógł więc dowodzić w czasie zbrodni. Witaj! Czystym przypadkiem natrafiłem na hasło Topór na polskiej Wiki, a w nim na Twoją grafikę File:Axes1.svg. W tym pliku svg coś się wysypało z wypełnieniami. Oglądałem plik na różne sposoby, i za każdym razem wyświetla się inaczej, przy czym zawsze z błędami: część obiektów zgubiła wypełnienia gradientowe. Ponieważ obrazek jest pożyteczny i pewnie zajął Ci chwilę, myślę, że szkoda, żeby straszył takimi błędami. Czy możesz sprawdzić, co w nim jest nie tak i ewentualnie przywrócić wersję oryginalną, czy jak? Starsze wersje pliku w ogóle mi się nie wyświetlają, nie wiem, na czym polega błąd. Rozumiem, że praca sprzed paru lat, ale może masz w archiwum, albo umiesz poprawić na szybko? Z góry dziękuję i pozdrawiam, Mulat (talk) 12:39, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

• Jakbyś wrzucił PNG, to może mógłbym poprawić to svg według bitmapy. W sumie to nawet wystarczy png jako ilustracja do tego tematu. Albo nawet GIF. Lepsza dobra bitmapa, niż svg, który się sypie. Im więcej mam do czynienia z tym formatem, tym mniej go lubię. Co nie znaczy, że znam lepszy ;-) Standaryzacja grafiki wektorowej jest jeszcze raczej przed nami. Hej, dzięki za wiadomość. Zawsze dobrze się czegoś nowego dowiedzieć - choć akurat w tym konkretnym przypadku nie trzeba poprawiać, bo nie jest to crest prawdziwego szkockiego klanu, a całkiem wirtualnego, funkcjonującego w już nieistniejącym polskim państwie wirtualnym - w związku z czym realne, szkockie zasady niekoniecznie musiały mieć tam zastosowanie ;-) Zresztą - gdyby nie rzeczone zaprzestanie działalności, to bym poprawił - a tak, to nie ma po co się z tym bawić ;-) Nie jest skategoryzowany z crestami szkockich klanów, zresztą jest odpowiednio podpisany (w sensie - że to crest wirtualnego klanu) - więc ew. dalszych twórców/badaczy crestów nie powinien mylić ;-) --MichałRadecki (talk) 23:02, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Karpowicz

Ale mnie już nikt nie cofał, bo pytasz się cofnięcie mojego rewertu. A mi chodziło o to, że zgoda na wolną licencję jest do konkretnego zdjęcia. Zatem, jak pisałeś, nowe winno być traktowane niezależnie, a nie "bo artystka była niezadowolona z poprzedniego" (z tego co widzę 2x chyba była niezadowolna, bo łącznie bły 3 wersje).
