Panorami[edit]

Hallo Simisa. Könnte ich bitte wissen warum die Kategorien Panorami von Amalfi und Panorami von Assisi die in der korrekten Category:Panoramics in Italy sich befanden, du sie in die falsche Category:Cities in Italy versetzt hast? Die Kategorie Cities in Italy betrifft NUR Gemeinden (Comuni) von Italien (also in unserem Fall: Amalfi und Assisi), und nicht unter-Kategorien der Gemeinden. Die Panorami von XY sind schon in den Gemeinden XY korrekt (unter)kategorisiert. Also ich habe deine Aenderungen rückgängig gemacht. Hallo Denghi! Panorama-Bilder sind Aufnahmen, welche normalerweise horizontal oder vertikal aus mehreren Bildern zusammengesetzt sind. Es gibt natürlich auch andere Techniken, um Panoramabilder zu erstellen. Grundsätzlich unterscheiden sie sich aber im Format von "gewöhnlichen" Aufnahmen. Alle diese Bilder sind in den Commons unter "Panoramics" zusammengefasst. In der Unterkategorie "Panoramics by country" sind für alle möglichen Länder weitere Unterkategorien "Panoramics in XY" angelegt. Sinn dieser Kategorien ist es, Panoramabilder, welche sich von den üblichen Formaten unterscheiden, aus jedem Land abzulegen. In den von Dir angeführten beiden Kategorien befinden sich vorwiegend oder ausschliesslich ganz normale Bilder, welche m.E. nicht in die Kategorie "Panoramics" oder eine der Unterkategorien gehören. Entweder sollten die "normalen" Bilder in eine andere Kategorie umgeteilt werden oder dann eben die ganze Kategorie aus den "Panoramics" genommen werden.

Ich habe auch den Inhalt der Kategorie "Panorams of Italy" nach "Panoramics in Italy" verschoben und einen Redirect-Vermerk auf der Seite angebracht. Leider wurde diese Änderung wieder von jemandem gelöscht und somit existieren jetzt wieder zwei Kategorien mit grundsätzlich dem gleichen Inhalt und Zweck. Das ist für die Systematik der Commons nicht sinnvoll und widerspricht auch der geläufigen Syntax für die Länderkategorien in den "Panoramics". Es wäre hilfreich für die Suche von Bildern, wenn hier eine gemeinsame Syntax zur Anwendung kommen könnte.

Ich verstehe was du meinst, aber es ging mir gar nicht um Panoramas und Panoramics, sondern um Cities in Italy, wo die Kategorie der Panoramas/Panoramics versetzt wurde, und wo sie absolut nicht hin gehört. Was dein Problem betrifft, ich glaube dass es an korrekte Information mangelt. Ich habe dasselbe Problem mit der Ornung (womit ich mich im Moment befasse) von Cities, Municipalities, Villages in Italy, in Province of, in Region of, und, und, und. etc. Ein totales Chaos! Weil nirgends geschrieben ist was man unter Cities, was unter Municipalities, was unter Villages zu verstehen muss. Nun mache ich ganz systematisch Ordnung, aber sehr bald werde ich in den betreffenden Haupt-Kategorien eine Einführung schreiben (auf en, it, fr, de) was da zu verstehen ist, was in die Kategorie hinein gehört und was nicht. Ich hab diese Einführungen schon geschrieben aber noch nicht eingesetzt weil die verschiedenen Texte auf den verschiedenen Sprachen noch nicht vollständig korrigiert sind. Ich glaube dass du auch sowas machen solltest: zuerst entscheiden was Panoramas oder Ansichten (oder wie du sie benennen willst), und was Panoramics sind; neue Kategorien machen wo sie fehlen oder mangelhaft sind; und dann im top der betreffenden Kategorien eine kurze Einführung in den verschiedenen Sprachen schreiben, in der du ganz genau erklärst um was es geht. Dams and reservoirs[edit]

Hi, just wondering what you thought of my category description at Category:Dams in Switzerland. As all reservoirs (which generally include a dam) are already listed in Category:Reservoirs in Switzerland, there isn't much use in including them in both categories. Some reservoirs have a lot of images, so it might be worth doing a category specifically for the dam.

As far as the dams are concerned, my thinking was that there is a main cat "Dams by country" with hardly any entry in "Dams in Switzerland". As most of the dams in Switzerland are used to produce electricity, I guess they better fit in this cat than into "Reservoirs" which has in my opinion the meaning of storing drinking water. Therefore I have started to shift many of the pics in the cat "Dams in Switzerland" into appropriate subcategories in order to avoid that all pics of dams in Switzerland will be stored in the main cat. As many images in sub-categories of Category:Reservoirs in Switzerland are show dams, we could give this a try and eventually do specific subcategories for dams. Grande Dixence already splits the two, even though the other way round that I would generally do it (an exception as "Dix" is less known than "Dixence").

BTW According to the category description of Category:Reservoirs (current version), the scope of "reservoir" is larger ("artificial lakes", but not "cisterns", "water supply buildings", or "containers"). To some of extent, this matches the definition of en:reservoir ("a place or hollow vessel where fluid is kept in reserve, for later use. Most often, a reservoir refers to an artificial lake, used to store water for various uses"), but that could include natural lakes used that way. GNIS uses it as a feature class definition for the US: "artificially impounded body of water (lake, tank)". At en:Category:Reservoirs, some attempt to apply it to anything with a dam. For Swiss lakes, this might lead to Lake Lucerne being categorized as a "reservoir", because of its needle dam. ;) -- User:Docu at 11:52, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Klar, dann ist das Foto vom Südufer aus aufgenommen. Denn vom Nordufer aus könnte man nicht links an der Insel vorbeisehen, ohne die kleinere Insel Roggenburg zu sehen. Aber noch eine Frage zum Foto der Insel Schwanau: Was ist das für ein Gebäude zwischen der Burgruine rechts und der St. Josefskapelle links (teils durch Gebüsch verdeckt). Kloster Sankt Katharinental[edit]

Hallo Simisa. Kannst du mir sagen, warum du die Aufnahmen vom Kloster Katharinenthal aus der *Category:Monasteries in the canton of Thurgau* entfernt hast? Wenn es heute auch kein Kloster mehr ist, so hat es doch die Geschichte eines Klosters und die typische Architektur, wie übrigens auch die meisten anderen "Klöster" in der Category. Ebenso verstehe ich nicht, warum man die Aufnahmen nicht in der Kategorie *Panoramics of the canton of Thurgau* lassen kann, zumal das Abgebildetet ja auf Thurgauer Boden steht (und das Format m.E. für die Einordungung so ziemlich wurst ist). Hallo Pingelig. Die Nennung des Bildes in der Kategorie "Monasteries in the canton of Thurgau" und in der Kategorie "Kloster Sankt Katharinental" entspricht einer Doppelnennung, da "Kloster Sankt Katharinental" bereits eine Unterkategorie von "Monasteries in the canton of Thurgau" ist. Solche Doppel- oder Mehrfachnennungen in der gleichen Struktur sind in den Commons nicht erwünscht. Gemäss den Richtlinien auf Commons soll zudem immer der Aufnahmeort und nicht der Ort des Subjekts angegeben werden. Und das ist in diesem Fall eben Gailingen in Deutschland. Du hast Recht, was den Aufnahmeort angeht und theoretisch natürlich auch mit der "Doppelnennung". Allerdings ist die Doppelnennung ja nur ein Problem in grossen und dadurch unübersichtlichen Kategorien. *Monasteries in ...Thurgau* ist eine kleine und sehr übersichtliche Kategorie und wird es wohl auch bleiben, da es so viele Klöster ja nun auch wieder nicht im Thurgau gibt. Ich finde es praktisch, in einer solch kleinen Kategorie eine Schnellübersicht mit Beispielbildern zu haben, um dann in der entsprechenden Unterkategorie ein passendes Bild zu suchen. Natürlich könnte man zu diesem Zweck auch eine Bildgalerie anlegen, aber in einer kleinen Kategorie scheint mir dieser Aufwand übertrieben, wenn man dem Zweck viel einfacher entsprechen kann. Durch die Mehrfachnennung eines Bildes in der gleichen Kategorien-Hierarchie geht eben auch die Übersichtlichkeit verloren. Stell Dir nur einmal vor, das gleiche Bild würde auch noch in "Buildings in the canton of Thurgau", "Canton of Thurgau" und zuletzt noch "Switzerland" eingereiht. Alle Kategorien wären grundsätzlich korrekt. Aber damit würde die Übersichtlichkeit der höher gestellten Hierarchieknoten vollkommen verloren gehen. Märstetten/Tägerwilen[edit]

So liest man sich wieder. O.k., das Photo ist also vom Luftgebiet über Tägerwilen her aufgenommen worden (gilt die Von-wo-aus-aufgenommen-Regel wirklich auch bei Luftaufnahmen?! Vom eigentlichen Tägerwilen aus würde man das Abgebildete auf keinen Fall sehen). Auf jeden Fall ist das Dorf, welches abgebildet ist, nicht Tägerwilen sondern Märstetten.(Praktisch) jeder, der das Bild in der Kategorie findet, wird denken, das abgebildete Dorf sei Tägerwilen, es sei denn, er kennt sich genügend gut aus, um zu merken, dass das nicht sein kann. Es sollte wenigstens in der Beschreibung vermerkt sein, dass das abgebildete Dorf Märstetten ist. Und meiner Ansicht nach sollte eine Luftaufnahme von einem Dorf (egal von wo aus aufgenommen, Zürich, Zeppelin, Orbit, Mond, etc.) in dessen Kategorie eingereiht sein. Ist doch Schade um dein Foto, wenn es in der Kategorie "Tägerwilen" rumdümpelt, wo niemand was damit anfangen kann. Beste Grüsse --Pingelig (talk) 13:02, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Hallo Pingelig! Ich weiss, Du schätzt diese Regel nicht. Der Aufnahmestandort (oder sollte man hier sagen Aufnahmeflugort?) liegt auf dem Gebiet der Gemeinde Tägerwilen. Aber man kann das Problemchen ganz einfach lösen, indem man den Infotext ändert, z.B. auf "Märstetten from overhead Tägerwilen". Dass man die Kategorie "Märstetten" ebenfalls noch dazufügt, ist m.E. kein Problem. Ich werde das Bild 'mal so anpassen. Im übrigen danke ich Dir für die aufmerksame Durchsicht meiner Bilder. Island-Bilder[edit]

Hallo Simisa,

Bilder, die urheberrechtlich geschützte Kunstwerke in Island zeigen, werden auf Commons nicht akzeptiert, auch nicht, wenn sie im Freien stehen, weil die Panoramafreiheit in Island eingeschränkt ist. Kategorisieren[edit]

Ich hab mal eben die Bilder von Someone35 kategorisiert. Das geht bei mir schneller, als bei ihr, weil sie sich offensichtlich noch nicht im Kategorienbaum auskennt. Die Aufnahme zeigt Laufskalavarda im Mýrdalssandur. Es gibt dafür noch keine Kategorie und ich schlage daher vor, das Bild vorläufig der Kategorie Mýrdalssandur zuzuordnen. Iranische Namen aus Geonames.org enthalten aber Schriftzeichen, welche nicht problemlos von allen Editierprogrammen erkannt werden. Beim Betrachten des Bildes ist mir der Mitteleinstiegwagen hinter dem ABe 8/12 aufgefallen, der eigentlich auf der Berninabahn nichts zu suchen hat. Ich habe dazu eine Note hinzugefügt. Kannst Du bestätigen, ob mein Note-Text OK ist, ich habe nämlich den Fahrplan durchgewühlt und nichts von einem regulären Einsatz – als "Velowagen"? – gesehen.

Ich habe aber trotzdem noch eine Anpassung vorgenommen. Mitteleinstiegswagen ist zwar sicher korrekt, aber ich denke, es ist ein SIG-Leichtstahlwagen für die Rhätische Bahn und nicht ein SWS-Leichtstahlwagen für die Rhätische Bahn.

Category:Panoramics in Baden-Württemberg[edit]

Es wäre schon noch gut, wenn du eine solche Kategorie erst dann einfügst, wenn du sicher bist, dass das entsprechende Bild aus Baden-Württemberg ist. Meines Wissens gehört der Aargau nach wie vor zur Schweiz ;-) (z.B. hier und hier) -- Badener 08:52, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Badener, es wäre auch gut, wenn Du Dich an die Regeln hältst und dass Bild dort kategorisierst, wo es gemacht worden ist. Deshalb heissen die Kategorien auch "Panoramics in ..." und nicht "Panoramics of ...". Es besteht immer noch die Möglichkeit, einzelne Komponenten des Bildes mit Beschriftungsfeldern zu versehen oder zu kategoriesieren, wie z.B. mit "Lägern". Die Küssaburg liegt m.W. in Baden-Württemberg und daher ist die Kategorie "Panoramics in Baden-Württemberg" korrekt. Zudem gibt es in der Kategorie "Panoramics in Switzerland" für jeden Kanton eine Unter-Kategorie. Hallo Simisa, richtig, gleichzeitig aber auch eine deutlich grössere Anzahl Uploads exakter kategorierisiert als 'nur' Category:Lucerne ;-)

In der "Hauptkategorie" waren viele der Bilder m.E. 'falsch' platziert respective (einige wenige auch von Dir) gleichzeitig bereits mit einer 'passenderen' Unter-Kategorie versehen.

Persönlich kenne ich mich in Luzern zwar es bizzeli aus, sprich habe gleichzeitig einige Dutzend Bilder 'passender' kategorisiert, aber viele 'Gebäude/Monumente' kann ich nicht exakt zuordnen.

So Du's mittels geotag kannst, dann Dankeschön für exaktere Kategorisierung, ansonsten wird das sicherlich jemand 'Ortskundiger' (irgendwann)vornehmen.

'Zwischenlösung': Mittels dem absolut genialen Tool HotCat mit einem Mausclick die Grosse Mehrheit nach "Buildings in ..." verschieben, was mE aber eine spätere Fein-Kategorisierung nicht vereinfacht.

Hallo Simisa, das Bild ist ja schon mal bei den Featured pictures durchgefallen, weil einige Juroren sich keinen enzyklopädischen Wert vorstellen konnten. Für mich illustriert es am ehesten eine bestimmte sommerliche Wolkenbildung. Um das enzyklopädisch zu verwerten, müsste man zunächst den Wolkentypus herausfinden und das Bild dort einordnen. Vielleicht irgendwo unter Category:Cumulus clouds (siehe auch Cumulus), vielleicht ist es auch eine Cumulonimbuswolke in der Entstehung. Bei der genauen Bestimmung kann ich allerdings nicht helfen. I've been in touch with many other Planespotters in regards to the Flight 370 story and I would love to feature yours. It's incredible that you were able to capture this aircraft back in 2011 given it's story in modern aviation history.

I wanted to get your feelings about the image you took of the Malaysia Airlines missing airliner. Was there any back story to the image and when you took it? Emotions felt when you heard the news?

I'd like to feature your story and image along with other assembled 9M-MRO photographer stories on my blog. This project is a non-profit storytelling tribute on behalf of this unfolding story. All images would be credited back to you and collections.

Bakoven[edit]

Hi there.

Not really sure how to go about this, so my apologies if this is the wrong forum for it. The page 'Bakoven', about an area in Cape Town, has an image purportedly of that area (that I understand to be your image), but the image is actually of Oranjezicht (you can see similar images on the page for Oranjezicht), which is a different part of Cape Town. I didn't want to just go and edit the page, in case you had simply mixed up photos and had a replacement.

Hi Okras! Please read the header of the category with the request to file the all files in an appropriate sub-category. Nobody will find a video file in the category "Videos" as there were hundreds of files and to find a particular one is more ore less impossible without going through all of them. Yes, it's harder to find videos at main category. But let's check File:Operações_de_venda_Venda_Avulsa.theora.ogv, for example. Before your "fix" someone could visit that category and clarify file's categories. Now it has no category at all, so the only to find it - by it's name. Please note that "VENICE" is a main category requiring frequent diffusion and maybe maintenance. As many pictures and media files as possible should be moved into the right subcategories. For this pcture, the right category might be indeed : "Venice Marco Polo Airport". Nutzung von Cat-a-lot ohne nachzudenken[edit]

Hallo Simisa. Durch gedankenlose Kategorie-Entfernungen wie Special:Diff/154327508, Special:Diff/154327131, Special:Diff/154327503 oder Special:Diff/154327511 hast du die Bilder komplett aus den ortsbezogenen Kategoriebäumen entfernt und teilweise gar komplett kategorienlos gemacht. IP-Benutzer oder Neubenutzer hätte man für sowas wohl gesperrt.
Ich bitte dich, deine Kategorie-Entfernungen durchzugehen, um deinen Schaden zu beheben, und künftig Cat-a-lot vorsichtiger einzusetzen. --Leyo 20:23, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Leyo. Ich habe beim löschen nicht nur nachgedacht, sondern auch nachgelesen. Das Thema, was alles in die Kategorie Panoramen hineingehört, hatten wir nämlich schon einmal und auch wenn keine abschliessende Regelung gefunden wurde bestand immerhin Einigkeit darüber, dass Standardformate nicht in diese Kategorien gehören. Ich denke, die fraglichen Bilder wären viel besser in der Kategorie Historical photographs of Switzerland, bzw. einer neu zu eröffnenden Kategorie über Bern, untergebracht. Es geht darum, dass du die Kategorien entfernt hast, ohne sie durch eine andere ortsbezogene Kategorie zu ersetzen (sofern diese nicht schon vorhanden ist). Umbenennung einiger Deiner Dateien[edit]

Hallo Simisa (oder Hansueli, was meinem eigenen Vornamen näher kommt). Zunächst mal ein Kompliment für Deine teilweise phantastisch schönen bzw. guten (nicht immer dasselbe!) Aufnahmen, auch außerhalb des von mir hauptsächlich bearbeiteten Luftfahrtbereichs!

In einem anderen Punkt möchte ich gerne Kontakt mit Dir aufnehmen, bevor es zu Verschiebungen kommt. Deine Flugzeugbilder sind meist als "2011-05-01 16-14-06 Switzerland Kanton Zürich Zürich International Airport", "... Kloten Kaserne", "... Hagenbuechen", "Grundbuck-Gässli" oder ähnlich benannt. Vermutlich sind das die Aufnahme-Positionen. Ich bin kein Paragraphenreiter, aber die WP-Richtlinie Commons:File renaming, hier insbesondere "Which files should be renamed?" finde ich doch sehr sinnvoll: Punkt 2.: "To change from a meaningless or ambiguous name to a name that describes what the image displays." Näher erläutert noch einmal in der Fußnote 2., Erläuterungen Punkt 7: "... that do not describe the subject of the file." Genau das ist der Punkt: Die jetzigen, im Text oft mehrfach identischen Titel sind zwar nicht "meaningless", beschreiben aber eben nicht das Motiv der Bilder (ich würde sie mal nicht als Dadaism einstufen).

Vorgesehener Inhalt des file name (aviation): Obwohl sehr oft nicht beachtet, gehören hier bei "Aircraft" nach dem uralten Konsens rein: Typ, Betreiber, evtl. noch Kennzeichen. Bereits der Aufnahmeort war damals strittig, und das Datum soll ebenso wenig rein wie der Autorenname. Dein "Swiss Airbus A340 HB-JMH approaching runway 14 at Zurich International Airport" kommt diesem Ideal schon sehr nahe, auch wenn man die Notwendigkeit von "approaching runway 14" und "International" im file name sicher diskutieren könnte.

Wenn man nun - statt einen Teil des jetzigen file name zu überschreiben - die kompletten Bezeichnungen für Typ, Betreiber und ggf. Kennzeichen einfach davor stellt, wird es ellenlang. Datum und Uhrzeit sind in der description dupliziert (also überschreibbar), aber vielleicht könnten Kategorien für die Aufnahme-Orte eingerichtet werden, damit es nicht ausufert? Hallo Uli! Ich habe Deinen Post erst heute gelesen, nachdem ich über das Wochenende wieder einmal ein paar Bilder hochgeladen habe. Wie Du vielleicht gesehen hast, habe ich mehr als 12'000 Bilder hochgeladen. Diese sind seit ca. 6 Jahren alle nach der gleichen Syntax benannt: Datum, Zeit, Land, Bundesland, Ortschaft, Ort. Die Umbenennung der Bilder erfolgt automatisch durch Geosetter, wobei die Ortsbezeichnungen wiederum von GeoNames übernommen werden. Nun kann man sich natürlich darüber streiten was sinnvoller ist: Den Bildinhalt im Bildnamen zu beschreiben oder den Ort der Bildaufnahme. Ich vertrete eher die Ansicht, dass der Zugriff auf den Bildinhalt durch eine korrekte Kategorisierung erfolgt und nicht über den Bildnamen. Sollte aber in der "Aviation group" eine andere Philosophie vorherrschen, so habe ich auch keine Mühe damit, wenn meine Bilder umbenannt werden. Ich selbst werde allerdings meiner Linie treu bleiben, vor allem auch daher, dass die Voranstellung des Datums und der Zeit eine eindeutige Sortierung erlaubt und doppelte Bezeichnungen unmöglich werden. Hi Peter, Please feel free to add categories to my pictures or to blame me for a wrong description on my discussion page. You can also change the descriptions of my pictures, if they are wrong. Bit it does not help anyone if you write texts like "This is not..., it is ....". The file name comes from geonames.org and is generated automatically. It is also an option to contribute to the accuracy of geonames.org by joining and contributing to more precise locations. On top of Table Mountains all pictures are for this reason assigned to Camps Bay, but this does not mean that Camps Bay can be seen on the picture. Simisa (talk) 15:30, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.

If you want to take part in WSC2021, please consult this page. There are different categories that can be used (you might therefore have something already interesting in your archive). Prizes can be allocated for the 1st and 2nd positions in every category.

Zürich airport[edit]

Hi, Simisa. You reverted my edit, because Zurich International Airport does not situate in Zürich. Looking from map, airport is really quite far from Zürich, probably you are right. But the problem is that category:2013 at Zurich International Airport belongs into category:2013 in Zürich, category:Zurich International Airport by year belongs into category:Zürich by year and category:Zurich International Airport belongs into category:Transport in Zürich. Hi Taivo. There are two political levels: Canton of Zurich and Zurich (city). As Zurich International Airport is not on the territory of the city of Zurich the category "2013 at Zurich International Airport" does not belong into the category "2013 in Zurich" but should rather be in the category "2013 in the canton of Zurich" and into category "Canton of Zurich by year", if these exist.
