Der einfachste Weg herauszufinden, was gerade passiert, ist Firebug zu installieren, die Konsole von Firebug zu öffnen, auf Dauerhaft zu stellen und dann die Verschiebung vorzunehmen. Die Zeile vor Using CommonsDelinker gibt jeweils an, was der Ausschlag war. Falls sofort Instructing CommonsDelinker to replace this file kommt, bist du möglicherweise nicht auf www.mediawiki.org angemeldet oder es sind zu viele Nutzungen der Datei. -- Rillke^(q?) 00:16, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Bei www.mediawiki.org war ich tatsächlich nicht angemeldet, daran scheint es aber nicht zu liegen: Die zuletzt von mir verschobene Datei wurde nur auf einer einzigen Seite verwendet und trotzdem ging es an den CommonsDelinker. Wirst du nicht mehr global angemeldet? Das letzte, was du gepostet hast ist der Edit auf User:CommonsDelinker/commands/filemovers, der hat funktioniert (success). Vermutlich kann das Skript nicht feststellen, dass du tatsächlich auf www.mediawiki.org angemeldet bist. Warum? Das steht vermutlich in einem der Zeilen darüber. Es müsste eine Zeile POST https://www.mediawiki.org geben. Als Antwort kommt dann entweder "query":{"userinfo":{"id":XXXX,"name":"Brackenheim"}}} oder eben etwas, dich als anonymer Nutzer identifiziert. -- Rillke^(q?) 14:54, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Nein, das Problem habe ich leider schon etwas länger. Hat bis jetzt nur Wikidata betroffen, von daher war es für mich nicht sonderlich schlimm. Bei mediawiki ist es schon unpraktisch... Danke, da ist das Problem {"batchcomplete":"","query":{"userinfo":{"id":0,"name":"XX.XX.XX.XXX","anon":""}}}. Mediawiki.org sagt, du seist dort nicht angemeldet. Das Skript prüft am Anfang, ob man global angemeldet ist, ganz einfach damit es für den Benutzer am schnellsten geht. Und das tut es, indem es die Anmeldung auf einem eher exotischen Wiki prüft. Eventuell könnte man GlobalReplace so umschreiben, dass es ein centralauthtoken verwendet. Das muss aber für jede Anfrage auf Commons neu generiert werden und ist nur 10s lang gültig. Da sehe ich viele potentielle Probleme. Akzeptiert dein Browser Cookies von Dritten? Vielleicht gibt es ja eine passende Einstellung. Man kann auch Ausnahmen für bestimmte Seiten festlegen.

NS_ERROR_DOM_QUOTA_REACHED ist etwas anderes und dem Missbrauch von LocalStorage durch die MediaWiki-Entwickler zuzuschreiben. MediaWiki speichert Skript-Code im LocalStorage, eigentlich ist es für Benutzer-Einstellungen u.ä. gedacht. -- Rillke^(q?) 16:49, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Das heißt die polnischsprachige Wikipedia hat dir entweder kein "edit token" oder das für anonyme Benutzer ("token":"+\\") geschickt. Ersteres wäre eine Fehlfunktion der Wikipedia, Zweiteres hieße, dass du entweder nicht auf pl.wikipedia.org angemeldet warst oder die Anmeldung nicht richtig erkannt wurde. -- Rillke^(q?) 16:46, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

Mit Deinem Eintrag dort hast Du mich voll hereingelegt: Ich dachte erst, der Abschnitt ist gut, warum habe ich den noch nicht gefunden. Ich denke, wenn alles bis hier nicht geholfen hat, dann hat es wenig Zweck noch weiter zu suchen. Sicher, man könnte noch beim Anmelden zusehen, ob die Requests zu den aufgelisteten Wikis erfolgreich sind (Netzwerk Tab, dauerhaft) und ob die Login-Cookies für die Wikis danach da sind... und ob es einen Unterschied macht, die Englische oder eine andere Sprachversion mit dem obigen Code zu testen. Ok, das wird dann langsam wirklich umständlich. Das möchte ich Dir nicht zumuten. Inzwischen habe ich möglicherweise aber eine Lösung gefunden: Auf Special:CentralAuth/Brackenheim habe ich mir die linke Spalte kopiert und die ganze Liste mit einem Add-on in die Cookieliste mit den Ausnahmen hinzugefügt. In weiteren, nicht gelisteten Wikis wird dann zwar immer noch mit dem CommonsDelinker korrigiert, dafür klappt alles in der häufigsten Wikis so, wie es sein sollte. Tunning SVG convert

Hallo Rillke,

jetzt habe ich einen großen Test mit meinem SVG Checker und deinem Konverter durchgeführt. Dabei viel mir auf das viele SVG-Karten recht detailiert ausfallen, das sich z. B. in File:California_State_Route_193_Map.svg zeigt.

Daher fände ich es gut wenn du in Zeile 17 von https://github.com/Toollabs/convert/blob/master/pdf2svg.php den Wert mindestens auf 3000000 (3MB) erhöhst. Das Wikimedia limit liegt bei 10MB. Wenn nichts dagegen spricht könnte dein Limit auch den Wert annehmen.

Zur Zeit nicht. Der SVG Checker tut erstmal alles was er unbedingt braucht. Langfristig halte ich die ein oder andere Veränderung für möglich. Zur Zeit bin ich mit librsvg testen ausgelastet. Da hat sich im letzten Jahr einiges getan und jetzt muss das Richtung Test konsolidiert werden. Ich hab da schön einen bösen Bug gefunden und ein zweiter schränkt mich beim Testen ein.

Die Großerprobung meines Checkers verlief ganz gut: User:Menner/SVG uploads checking. Dabei konnte ich feststellen das die größten SVG Probleme bei den Schriftarten liegen. Zu dem Thema sollten entsprechend unsere Hilfeseiten optimiert werden. Eine abschließende Statistik gibt es aber noch nicht. Das kommt nach librsvg.

Hey Tohaomg, as a translator, you don't have really care for the warning, except that you shouldn't put any markup into your translation that may confuse the gadget or make its use impossible (e.g. tables with fixed width or colours that make it impossible to read the text) but if you just translate, using standard and the provided markup from the source language (en), there is no point to worry about this warning.

For the form not being shown in Ukrainian: First of all, it is important that you set your user interface language to Ukrainian. But I guess you've already done so. Then, it might be still in English because your browser has cached a copy of the page. I suggest to go to a file description page, launch the gadget (request form) and then

I deleted the cache, but it didn't work. I looked from another computer, but it didn't work neither. SVG edit tool

Hello! Recently, I have learned about your SVG edit script... which by the way is a life saver! I was wondering if you would be willing to create the same script on the English Wikipedia? I spend most of my time there and I do a lot of editing with university articles/sports, many of which have a SVG file. I don't have the program or the skills to create an SVG, but your tool has helped tremendously with the files on Commons. It would help tremendously if it were on the English Wikipedia, as well! GlobalReplace 0.6.4 funktioniert nicht

Hallo Rillke,

wie unter User:Kopiersperre/GlobalReplaceLog/2016/2 zu sehen, habe ich versucht File:Robert Beatrix.jpg durch File:Fils du roi Robert de Clermont et Beatrice FR 22297 P8.jpg zu ersetzen. GlobalReplace hat aber nicht so gearbeitet, wie es sollte.

Hi Rillke! Would it be easy to add a megapixel check to bigChunkedUpload.js to avoid adding {{LargeImage}} to small files? Apparently, your javascript is used by some to perform all their uploads regardless of size, and the bot referred to on Template:LargeImage/doc seems to not run regularly. Yes, though I don't think it would worth the work to check the size if the image and see if it is too large, due to technical restrictions (image size are not saved anywhere, and to know the size one would need to re-check the actual file, which may overload NFS & lots of code required). I've always assumed gallica images are quite large, and users are expected to check all the prefilled text. As for bigChunkedUpload.js, I don't think it can do anything about it, as the first revision does not seems to be uploaded by bigChunkedUpload.js. --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 13:25, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

When I reported the above, I was unaware that any tool other than bigChunkedUpload was being used. Turns out I was incorrect, I can see how this would be difficult/impossible for the tools to solve, and perhaps the best would be to see if Dschwen would add the task of removing the template from small files back to his bot's duties. API error: badparams: Cannot supply a filekey when offset is 0

Probably that you shouldn't set the filekey parameter when you upload the first chunk because you shouldn't know the file key because it's the first interaction about this file with the server? In case the server told you to send at offset 0 again, it's probably better to restart the whole upload instead of trying to match that and continue a mangled upload. -- Rillke^(q?) 09:37, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

I think it is. Just get used with it and its flaws (or the flaws Commons produces when rendering Inkscape SVGs). If you are brave, you may also look at the SVG/XML source code and tweak your SVGs that way. There are of course proprietary products that have some comfortable features but you have to be a graphics designer to really profit from using them. Hey, I'm just noting that uploading files with API action=upload&async=1 is currently broken, and it looks like User talk:Rillke/bigChunkedUpload.js uses that. Re: Polish translations of the new POTY 2015 category names.

Thanks for helping but I just have noticed an issue. The category names mentioned on the page begin with small letters so I provided translations which also begin with small letters. But actually they should begin with capital letters, just like original English names, eg. MediaWiki:Com-poty-cat-sculptures and reliefs. Different font sizes of adjacent messages in Template:POTY2015/header

Yesterday you added a new message in Template:POTY2015/header. Unfortunately, it is displayed with a bigger font size than its adjacent message – go to Commons:Picture of the Year/2015/R1/Gallery and you will see that the text "Round 1 is open!" has smaller height than "Select a category you'd like to vote in". Du könntest VisualFileChange.js benutzen. Das hat auch eine Löschaktion für Administratoren und akzeptiert Kategorien (leider noch keine Rekursion über Unkterkategorien). Wichtig ist: Vorher alle Dateien der Kategorie anzeigen/ laden lassen und dann alle auswählen (oben gibt es eine Checkbox: Dort nach dem Laden aller Dateien das Häkchen setzen). Das geht am einfachsten, wenn man in den erweiterten Einstellungen (Seitenleiste) angibt, dass er sehr viele Daten beim Herunterscrollen laden soll (Amount of files to be loaded when clicking on more or when scrolling down). -- Rillke^(q?) 09:28, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

When I try to use custom replace, I get:

bigChunkedUpload.js upload twice

Ease file describing

Hi,

I realy appreciate your VisualFileChange.js and I was wondering if you can create something to ease file description process, which is a time consuming activity. I personally think it can be semiautomated, because you add there one information 5 times. Let me explain it on the example. You make a picture of barn in a village. Than:

1. file name: Village, barn.jpg (this is sometimes done in users mother language so in mine it would be Vesnice, stodola.jpg)
2. file description in English: Barn in Village, XY District, Czech Republic.
3. description in Czech: Stodola ve Vesnici, Okres XY, Česká Republika. (problem might be, that some languages are highly flexive)
4. Category 1: Village
5. Category 2: Barns in XY District
6. Geo: ... (geocoord is yet another, but same description and in some cases you can even get the type of object e.g. for churches from OSM)

So I was wondering, whether we can have any semiautomatic tool, which will help us to create file descriptions faster. I understand it is not for all types of files, but to many contributers, kind of solution would help.--Juandev (talk) 08:07, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Usage of FileContentsByBot

Hey there,

I am doing a GSoC 2016 project to bring back the catimages script made by DrTrigon a few years ago. You can check out the Phabricator task at [T129611]. I was looking at the current status of the JS Templates and was wondering whether Template:FileContentsByBot was still being actively developed/maintained/used in commons. I found that the gadget Help:Gadget-ImageAnnotator has been added to commons which is loaded by default, which would be similar to Template:FileContentsByBot/Faces. Both Gadgets/ Template systems are currently unmaintained. I know that ImageAnnotator is doing similar things but I preferred not to mess with its code base when I started {{FileContentsByBot}} and the accompanying JS, MediaWiki:FileContentsByBot.js. VisualFileChange.js large amounts

Suggestion for a new idea for VisualFileChange.js: A way to load all images in a category, not matter the size, by hitting one button. I'd really like this, as I am working on images in categories that have a large amount of files (>10,000 files). It can load them in small amounts, but to have a way so that the file changer loads all of the images, instead of having to scroll down and hit "more" every time. Picture requests workflow

Hi Rillke! I see you haven't been very active lately. I hope you're okay and just enjoying well deserved summer break. I have an idea that I wanted to float with you. I have Commons:Picture requests/Requests on my watchlist, and I've been getting increasingly frustrated with how broken it is. To name a few problems:

• Not all requests fit neatly under a single heading (if I'm interested in an endemic species; does that go in the biology section or the relevant country section)
• Because of the above, finding requests that one might fulfill is harder than it should be
• There's no established procedure for dealing with obviously invalid requests ("please upload this blatantly non-free file")
• The instructions at Commons:Picture requests are not followed, and there's lots of page history to trawl through to figure out who to respond to
• There's no record of fulfilled requests

But there's no need to reinvent the wheel. We already have a working set of gadgets, mechanisms and procedures for dealing with requests and request backlogs. What do you think about reusing some of the infrastructure used for deletion requests to deal with picture media requests? I'm thinking something like MediaWiki:Gadget-QuickDelete.js for filing new requests, with requests on individual pages, which can be added to a chronological backlog, placed into multiple appropriate categories, and then closed and archived when they're fulfilled or dismissed.

Bot edits to MediaWiki namespace

I'm writing you because you operate a bot that has made edits to the MediaWiki namespace in the last 30 days. I've started a proposal to make the bot flag not apply to the MediaWiki namespace. If this proposal goes through, edits by users with the bot flag to the MediaWiki namespace would show up in the RecentChanges feed like normal non-bot flagged edits do. The reason I'm proposing this is that the MediaWiki namespace contains many sensitive things in it, and if someone compromised an adminbot account they could do much damage by discretely editing the MediaWiki namespace. Additionally, there are on the whole very few bot edits to MediaWiki namespace pages, so its my hope that such a measure would not cause undue hardship on anyone. Laut [2] soll das mit dem Commander möglich sein. Nun verstehe ich Help:Commons_Commander/de nicht. Da Du die Hilfeseite geschrieben hast, vermute ich, dass Du dich gut damit auskennst? und dort das HowTo für Neulinge wie mich noch etwas ergänzen kannst? Gallery tool

Hello Rillke, thank you very much for the gallery tool (Commons:MyGallery)! I used it often and it was great for many purposes. It always had one or two mistakes in the shown global usage, but worked fine in most cases. Since a few weeks I can't see the global usage of older files any more - have you any idea whether the tool has changed or my browser (newest Firefox on Linux system all the time)? There is a red box shown in the lower right corner of each image with usages on other wikis, an on holding the mouse upon it, it shows where the image is used on wikimedia projects. Formerly this worked for all the images, now it only works in the first page. From the second page onwards the red box is also shown, but on mouse hover it only shows "Global usage - usage of this file in other wikis", which doesn't help much. Do you know whether this problem occures on several/all computers and browsers or only on mine? --Dehio (talk) 11:54, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

CommonsMaintenanceBot

I didn’t noticed this bot now, but after I made a request for speedy deletion to my common.js this bot left a message on my talk page, so I read this message and noticed a few issues:

• To opt-out I have to add {{ValidationOptOut|type=all}} on my user page, whereas I like to use my global user page. It would me much easier for me to have a list I can add my name on to opt-out
• Why does this bot leave two messages on my talk page? That’s really annoying
• “Expected a string and instead saw {.” why is there no '{' as it is on all the other errors?
• “Though, that change appears to introduce 5 new jshint issues -- the page's status is now having ERRORS.” the “--” should be a “—” (em dash) (not really a big issue, but well, I don’t really like those --)
• The bot should notice that an edit is a request for (speedy) deletion

Also I don’t see the point of suggesting a user who made lots of errors in his user scripts and needs this message to notice it becoming a MediaWiki hacker. This whole message seems to be made for people having no clue of javascript and css (it even suggests to blank the page to get rid of all the errors …) – K​P​F​C​ 💬 19:56, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Indafotó review needed

Hi there, can you help me? Kannst du mir helfen SVGEdit auf en:User:JoKalliauer/common.js einzubauen, ich hab den code von User_talk:Rillke/SVGedit.js#Global_or_foreign_wiki_installation auf en-wiki hineinkopiert, jedoch wenn ich eine SVG öffne, dann sehe ich nicht das Menü (edit SVG), das ich auf Commons sehe.

commons.js wird doch sofort wirksam?
Oder vl. gibt es Einstellungen die sich nicht mit dem Skript vertragen?

Auf en-wiki funktioniert es noch immer nicht. Da dort "fair-use"/"non free content(NFC)" ist, gibt es dort einige SVGs die ich bearbeite. (Es gibt einen Bot der nur die viewbox und width="" und height="" einfügt, sodass die dargestellte Auflösung in der Beschreibung NFC entspricht, mMn begrenzt sinnvoll)

@JoKalliauer: There is some strange with your common.js, you should ask an admin to convert this page again to JavaScript (see Site information, it is Wikitext!). Chunked upload: error on upload and "dublicate" on reupload

Was uploaded the file, size ~840Mb (on a hosting). The upload have errors: some pages not opens (e.g. scan's page 165), disappeared all OCR. (Perhaps because on upload was enabled "async upload".) After, I tried reupload about ten times, but every time after "100%" upload I get error "server disconnected" and this broken page of file did not open from Special:UploadStash. Now, other user tried reupload the file, but get error "FAILED: stashfailed: The upload is an exact duplicate of the current version of File:Реальный словарь классических древностей (1885).pdf". --Vladis13 (talk) 04:50, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

SVGedit script

I have a link to your script in my commons "common.js" and it works fine. I also have a more complicated link in my en-wiki file en:User:Ronhjones/common.js as

mw.loader.load('//commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Rillke/SVGedit.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');

It used to work fine, suddenly it's vanished (does not appear when viewing an SVG). Do think think this is due to the changes the Foundation have made to Javascripts? Ronhjones  ^(Talk) 02:34, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

A lot of the scripts I provided a couple of years ago now suffer from deprecations and changes to the libraries provided by the MediaWiki development team. It's a normal thing that code changes over time, however with the MediaWiki developers first opting for jQuery (+UI +plug ins) and later changing their mind towards creating own libraries (OOJS/UI) and deprecating jQuery use and the fast-changing browser world, consider all the script I have written that did not get updates broken or almost broken. Since the code written by me isn't as clean as it should be and has considerable amounts of code powering GUI, updating is almost impossible. As for the SVG-Edit, it might be possible though because it doesn't heavily depend on MediaWiki-provided jQuery libraries. PDF2SVG

Moin, moin, Rilke, ich benutze <https://tools.wmflabs.org/convert/> um PDF-Dateien in SVG-Dateien mit transparentem Hintergrund umzuwandeln. Gibt es da eine neuere Version? Mir ist aufgefallen, dass bei der Umwandlung einer Datei "###Dateiname###.pdf" eine Datei mit der Bezeichnung "###Dateiname###.pdf.svg" erhalten wird. Kann man das so modifizieren, dass direkt eine Datei mit der Bezeichnung "###Dateiname###.svg" erhalten wird? Die nebenstehende Datei ist eine Rastergrafik und als SVG gespeichert unerwünscht.

Damit dass es eine w:de:Rastergrafik und keine w:de:Vektorgrafik, finde ich Qualität einen unpassenden Ausdruck. (oder wenn dann ist es eine schlechte Qualität) Lade es die gleiche Datei als PNG und nicht als SVG hoch.

Rillke, I believe there is IP restrictions on the bot's BotPassword. The new grid in build on the eqiad1 region and have a different IP range than eqiad. The bot is currently unable to login --Zhuyifei1999 (talk) 21:50, 8 February 2019 (UTC)

Loading errors

Hi. If I try to load User:Rillke/bigChunkedUpload.js at the same time as User:Rillke/SVGedit.js then I get "registration" errors and one of them doesn't work. The specific errors are: "source already registered: commonswiki", "Error: module already registered: ext.gadget.editDropdown", "Error: module already registered: ext.gadget.libAPI". I was trying to load both from my global.js, but the problem seems to persist even if I load one or both together locally. You can see the history of what I needed to do to make them play together nicely at : [5]. That works, but I don't really like to "fork" because I'll probably miss any updates etc... I don't know if it's easy, possible or sensible to make these resources skip loading if already loaded, but I thought I'd give you a "heads up" anyway. -- Begoon 01:30, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi Begoon, loading these two scripts together should now be possible without any issues. However it may break again. Then I have to remember: addSource(id, url) is deprecated. Also this is a private method as of now, which means future updates will not be supported/migrated. Consider using getState() and load() directly with a url. -- Rillke^(q?) 15:32, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks. I added them both to my global.js at meta and removed them everywhere else. Quick testing indicates that they work fine now, with no errors, here, en.wiki and fr.wiki - (so I assume everywhere). Thank you very much for the quick response and fix - I work with svg files a lot, and also upload a few big bitmaps/pdfs from time to time - so both scripts are very useful and much appreciated.
