French translation of Commons:Rename a category

Hi, thank you for adding Commons:Rename a category for translation. I just did the translation in french : Commons:Rename_a_category/fr. But there are 2 parts than I cannot translate because they do not appear in the translation interface. First the image File:2013-06-30_Nominage_category_for_discussion_link_en.png should point to a french version like File:2013-06-30_Nominage_category_for_discussion_link_fr.png. As for the file: As soon as you upload File:2013-06-30_Nominage_category_for_discussion_link_fr.png and purge the cache of the french version, it will be used. We use Template:Localized media for that purpose. I will look how to solve the second issue. Best -- Rillke^(q?) 16:02, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

COM:AN#Category:Avion isn't for airplanes

The files will be reviewed by User:Rustavia once upload is completed. I am merely uploading files for him. I will mass remove irrelevant categories such as that once the upload is complete. Its tens of thousands of files the bot is going through so I am working on this in steps. I closed the discussion as delete per Tavio's reasoning (which basically echos the concerns of the editors who !voted delete in the first discussion), that there were numerous inaccuracies and/or false information on this page, making the page more or less out of scope. Frage und vielleicht Anregung

Hallo Rillke, ist folgende Überlegung schon mal diskutiert worden?: Innerhalb der Kategorien die Bilder nicht nach Namen, sondern nach Datum zu sortieren, so dass die aktuellsten Neubilder immer am Anfang der Kategorie plaziert sind. Das hätte den Vorteil, schnell gute neue Bilder zu erkennen. Außerdem würden die Bilder, die mit Zahlen oder Leerzeichen am Anfang des File-namens versehen und hochgeladen werden, nicht dauerhaft die ersten Plätze in den Kategorien einnehmen. Gibt es vielleicht soetwas schon, oder könnte man es als Alternative in den persönlichen Einstellungen zur Wahl stellen? Grüße. Orchi (talk) 18:57, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Hallo Orchi, ich bin momentan sehr beschäftigt. Deshalb fällt die Antwort kurz und knapp aus:

1. COM:FORUM#Upload-Benachrichtigungen für neue Dateien in Kategorien
2. VisualFileChange bietet auch Sortierfunktion nach Kategorie-Hinzugefügt-Datum.
3. CatScan kann das glaube ich auch.
4. Wenn MediaWiki das selbst können soll, muss es auf bugzilla: gefordert/gemeldet werden. Meiner Meinung nach gehört so etwas zu den Basics aber für die Basics interessiert sich das Board of Trustees und die CEO nicht. Stattdessen werden Wikilove, MoodBar (siehe dazu en:User:Rillke), VisualEditor, Flow, LogIn-Redesign unter kryptischen Gruppen namens E3 usw. … entwickelt.

1. wenn Du komplexere Vorlagen in Zukunft mit Einrückungen formatieren könntest, wäre das super.

Visual Change

Moin! Bei einem User mit ueber 20.000 uploads muessen einge Texte geaendert werden. Funktioniert auch alles (glaube ich) mit RegExp. Problem: Bei 20k Files geht Dein Tool in die Knie (eher mein Arbeitsspeicher) und ich kann keine Dateiaenderung mit Filenummern ueber 9999 ansehen. Kann man das umgehen und wie kann ich das Tool beschleunigen? Danke, aber Du hast genug um die Oehrchen. Ich habe mir AWB geschnappt und die Liste im preparse mode ueber Nacht durchsucht. Da blieben nur etwa 90 files von ueber 20k uebrig. Mit VFC ist das so ein Problem, ich kann ja nicht einfach die Liste selbst verkleinern. Es bleiben ja immer 20k files, egal wie ich die durchsuche. Ist wahrscheinlich auch nur ein besonderes Problem, wer bearbeitet schon 20.000 Bilder in einem rutsch. :-) VFC ist uebrigens das allerbeste Tool der ganzen WP/Commons. Suggestion for gadgets

Hi, Rillke. I have two suggestions for gadgets:

1. VisualFileChange doesn't support special pages and gallaries and things like that. It would be great if it does.
2. Is it possible to make a gadget to select a bunch of contribs from the contribs page and do mass-undo in case someone does something not right with gadgets?

1. It doesn't support listing files in sub-categories but listing images in one category should work (if not, please let me know). If you enter a space before Category:... [this prevents switching into category-mode], you can even list all files that are on the category-page without category members. Or are you talking about categorizing? Yes, that would be cool. But as long as I have to fix Upload Wizard issues (including having explain [to paid professionals] why "17" < "7" in JavaScript or juggling with these stupid MediaWiki whitespace conventions), I fear I have no time. As for special pages, an option "file links" and "thumbnails" would be nice as well as extended support for Special:NewFiles.
2. Mass-revert should be easy; mass undo sounds more complicated. Aren't there scripts in English, French or German Wikipedia that support this already?

Hi Hedwig, das geht auch per Watchlist messages aber ich dachte da an inappropriate canvassing (und außerdem hoffe ich immer noch auf eine Antwort von Niklas; nicht, dass ich alle belästige und im Nachhinein stellt sich heraus, dass das gravierende technische Probleme damit gibt -- Wer weiß, was mit der Extension noch alles faul ist?).

Ein Script, das Mails an alle admins versendet, klingt auch verlockend. Wenn Du mal eins brauchen solltest, sag' Bescheid. Das ist gar nicht so schwer zu realisieren und als Admin darf man so viele Mails versenden, wie man möchte [keine Ratelimits] :P -- Rillke^(q?) 07:52, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

File move gadget bug

Hello,

the file move gadget does not allow to enter new name which differs only in case, particularly now I need to (request) rename of bunch of *.OGG files to *.ogg and I have to insert the template manually.

Ja, ich glaube Herby hat mich schon mal gefragt. Damals sagte ich, dass es möglich ist, ich aber momentan zu viel Arbeit habe. Daran hat sich leider nichts geändert. Bevor ich ein Tool für die Wiederherstellungswünsche entwickle, wollte ich eigentlich erst eine neue Version des delReqHandlers schreiben und evtl. Bryans Bot klonen, so dass wir die Wiederherstellungswünsche genauso behandeln können, wie die DRs (mit Unterseiten). New DRH error

Hi Rillke. I had a tough time deleting some files with DelReqHandler today. I kept getting this error message:

API request failed (internal_api_error_FileBackendError): Exception Caught: Got InvalidResponseException exception.

Seeing the reports at MediaWiki talk:Gadget-AjaxQuickDelete.js/auto-errors‎ and other places, it seems that the file backend and the database seem to have issues.

Another new error

I've been getting alot of these different API errors over the past week or so. Not as bad as it was a few months ago, but noticable. With this one, I just have to reload the page and click delete again, as with most of the errors I've been getting. INeverCry 20:13, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Jupp. Ist mir bekannt. Dass sich Erik wundert, wundert mich allerdings.

Denn das liegt a) daran, dass Commons nicht Wikipedia ist und daher viele andere Funktionen benötigt, die einfach nicht per PHP implementiert werden, wie beispielsweise der My Uploads-Link und b) zusätzlich alles in allen möglichen Sprachen ausliefern muss (+ die Logik zu entscheiden, was dem Benutzer gezeigt wird) während Gadgets 2.0, was eine Reduktion auf die Benutzersprache ermöglichen würde, immer noch nicht zur Verfügung stehen c) HotCat neuerdings standardmäßig aktiviert ist d) AjaxQuickDelete alle möglichen Module lädt e) die Mediendatei des Tages das Laden des TMH auslöst.

Ich habe wirklich hart daran gearbeitet, dass nun fast alle Skripte über den Resource-Loader geladen werden, mehr geht einfach kaum, ohne Support durch die WMF in den angesprochenen Bugs. Ich werde kurzerhand neben dem Dorfbrunnen antworten. -- Rillke^(q?) 17:41, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Die Datei war in der Kategorie Files in Category:Out of scope uploads related to WLM 2013 (India). Ich habe keep ausgewaehlt und das Script hat auch gut funktionert. Nur das der Link auf der Datei Disku auf die falsche Diskussion verweist. Das Problem betrifft mehrere Dateien. Siehe Loeschlog File:Bharat.brt1.JPG z.B. Weiß nicht, woran das lag. DelReqHandler splittet die gesamte Seite an den <h3>-Überschriften und geht davon aus, dass alle unter einer Überschrift gelisteten Dateien zu einem Löschantrag gehören, der durch den edit-Link an der h3-Überschrift identifiziert wird. DelReqHandler muss irgendwo durcheinander gekommen sein. Thanks for the friendly welcome message. I have to admit that I find my post not that thorough, evens somehow unpleasant compared to that one. A lot has not been analysed like scripts loaded from MediaWiki:Common.js and their impact on being loaded by separate requests each. The most important "message" I wanted to send back to the WMF was that well-documented, working and up-to-date core functionality helps avoiding a similar situation compared to the current one in future. In this regard, I think you for your reply which I am 100% d'accord with.

Do we see 2 different files. In the first photo, I see a ship, correctly orientated, hull downwards. Why should it be rotated? And about which angle? Fine rotation is not possible at Commons directly, so you have to download the file, open it in, for example IrfanView, fine-rotate it and re-upload it. Only 90, 180 and 270° rotations are supported by Rotatebot. If you just want to request rotation by another community-member press the link (request rotation) below the image, enter the degree-number and confirm or insert {{rotate|angle}} directly into the file description page. -- Rillke^(q?) 09:52, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi ‎Kjersti. Just your experience: They (the developers and the bugmaster) tend not to believe me, or let's say they are always very skeptical - probably because their very limited time. It would be particularly useful if you could confirm that

1. there were licensing options at Commons:Upload before they disappeared a few months ago (using option "It is from somewhere else") which links directly to Special:Upload
2. that these options were in language x (please specify in which language the options were offered: English or Norwegian)
3. you did not change your language preferences

That's all we need for assessing what's wrong.

And yes, you indeed have to create an account on Bugzilla if you want to comment there. The e-Mail address that you use for account creation will be visible on the web (not just for Bugzilla users). However, I never got any spam e-Mail for the address I am using for Bugzilla. It is always preferable if more community members comment at the Wikimedia Issue-Tracker directly. BTW, did you know that you can also file feature-requests for the MediaWiki-software there? It is a great way to communicate to the developers directly besides #mediawiki ^webchat. Ich muss vorweg schicken, dass ich mich selten mit der Neuanlage von Kategorien befasse und daher vergleichsweise wenig Erfahrung in diesem Gebiet habe; außerdem haben unterschiedliche Benutzer sehr unterschiedliche Meinungen darüber.

1. Zuerst legst Du die gewünsche Seite an, indem Du die Überkategorien (parent categories) in deren Quelltext schreibst. So geschehen auf Category:Manhole covers in the Republic of Macedonia (dort mal auf "Bearbeiten" klicken, um zu sehen, was ich dort reinschrieb. Was Commons macht, wenn sich politische Grenzen verschieben, weiß ich nicht.
2. Dann kannst Du Deine Datei schon in die neue Kategorie werfen.

Insgesammt war dann noch ein bisschen mehr zu tun; siehe meine diesbezüglichen Benutzerbeiträge.

Übrigens war die Datei nicht völlig falsch platziert. Irgendjemand hätte dann schon die Unterkategorie angelegt. -- Rillke^(q?) 14:03, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

It's super fun to see guided tours getting used like this, and I appreciate the feature request/suggestion you dropped on the extension talk page. I have one suggestion for improving the tour: right now it looks like you've coded "Okay" to launch the nomination modal, as if the user clicked the nominate link. I would recommend against this for usability reasons. We try to avoid doing this in tours we've built, because if you make the user click "nominate for deletion" to proceed, it gets them in the habit of doing the correct thing. They won't have the tour every time, so it's an advantage to get them to start developing a little muscle memory around where the click target is. Make sense? If you are not in edit mode mw.toolbar is undefined. Therefore you personal JavaScript file, which is also a resource loader module, failed setting the module state to "error" or similar. HotCat possibly depends on that module (your user js because it could contain preferences) and consequently did not startup. Hallo Rillke, könntest Du bitte etwas behilflich sein? Ich steige bei der Kennzeichnung eines Bildes nicht ganz durch, um es auf die Löschdiskussion zu stellen. Das besagte Bild hatten wir schon mal hier. Es wurde bereits gelöscht, siehe alte Löschdiskussion. Nun ist die Quelle eine andere von der ich weiß das die das Bild auch nur "geklaut" hat. Es ist ein Bild aus dem Buch "Die Materie" Time-Life-Verlag, das ich vorliegen habe. Du kannst das Bild gleich löschen und/oder die alte Diskussion heruassuchen. mass rename per VisualFileChange.js

Hallo Rillke, habe vor kurzen dein VisualFileChange.js entdeckt, eine gewaltige Arbeitserleichterung, v.a. bei Wartungstätigkeiten bei fleißigen Uploadern. CDL problematic

I see at TS JIRA that you commented on a CDL replacement that was ultimately a CDL removal. It has been reported to me that a replacement that I did yesterday basically fouled itself. There were a large number of file links, so it has pushed it to CDL to do the replacements rather than as a user[I am presuming that there is a cutoff for the usual duplicate script where it swaps over from user replacement to solely CDL replacement], and from my investigation it would seem that some have been replaced, and some were deleted. To me that would indicate that there is an issue with the timing of the jobs to check for deletion versus start and finish a replacement.

I have had a look at replacement log however the whole TS issue and its disrepair,, slowness, etc. is itself problematic to determine what is going right and wrong. However, the next two urls shows that both removals and replacements are active in the reports

Not sure what you can do, or see, however, for the tasks that I regularly undertake on behalf of the community, there are definitely issues, and getting them resolved would be good, especially around TS closure.  — billinghurst sDrewth 05:50, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

ext.gadget.* sind Gadgets. In diesem Fall MediaWiki:Gadget-libAPI.js, was nur eine unvollständige inline-Dokumentation hat. Am besten mit Ctrl+F nach mw.libs.commons.api.config durchsuchen. Bei neueren Gadgets erstelle ich solche Dokumentationen mit Hilfe von jsDuck. Wenn Du mir sagst, was Du brauchst, kannst Du es haben. LibAPI wurde speziell für den Zugriff auf die MediaWiki-API geschrieben und stellt sicher, dass bei z.B. kurzzeitigem Verbindungsabbruch zu keinem Fehler kommt. Timeouts, CAPTCHA und Ratelimits werden auch entsprechend behandelt. Außerdem führt es eine einfache Validierung der Parameter durch. Upload unterstützt es noch nicht, plane ich aber, weil UploadWizard einfach overkill ist und sich nicht so recht wie eine Bibliothek verhalten möchte.

$autoQuery ist nicht dokumentiert aber eine sehr angenehme Funktion, wenn man mit langen Listen arbeitet; allerdings sollte man nicht das Endergebnis, sondern die Zwischenergebnisse verwenden, falls das Ergebnis ein Array sein könnte:

In other words, when sending a request to Wikimedia's Servers, they set a special response header that tells your browser that it is allowed to communicate to several other domains (e.g. *.wikipedia.org, *.wikimedia.org, *.wiktionary.org, …) which is otherwise not allowed. Nee, habe ich noch nicht. Du hast schon mein +1! Damit könnten viele Probleme vermieden werden. Am besten wir stimmen vorher ab, was wir in den Bug-Report schreiben, denn Bawolff hat gesagt (weiß gerade nicht wo), dass Änderung am Datenbank-Layout sehr gut begründet werden müssen, damit sie nicht gleich WONTFIXed werden. Hey VisualFileChange.js is great, it would help to improve the viewing existing categories and adding new ones. Could it be made to show the existing categories without having to mouse-over the pictures? Perhaps I could contribute a little bit too, maybe, if there are others who also work on that. Problems with Commonist uploading to the wrong site

Autostadt Wolfsburg

Bitte verstehe meine Bemerkungen nicht falsch, das ist nicht gegen dich gemünzt! Ich arbeite bei VW in Wolfsburg und der Konzern unterstützt ausdrücklich, daß Bilder aus der Autostadt verbreitet werden. Jeder darf überall alles fotografieren, man darf Stativ benutzen, Lampen oder Blitzanlagen mitbringen und wird dabei sogar unterstützt. Ist ja auch klar, das ist Werbung für die Firma. Und da kommt dieser Account, der seit Monaten, seit er dabei ist, nichts anderes macht als Löschanträge, das ist mir einfach zu blöd. Ich schließe nur eindeutige Urheberrechtsverstöße, Anträge, die verunglimpfende Bilder als mögliche Racheakte zeigen und eindeutige Nonsens-Anträge. Wie Jim dazu steht, hat er bereits im Löschantrag zur Commerzbank-Arena gezeigt. INC wird sicher genauso entscheiden. Neugierig auf deine Literaturstellen bin ich trotzdem, denn die kann ich dann als Argument zum Kommentieren in neuen LAs benutzen; eventuell müssen wir COM:FOP differenzierter gestalten. Hi Rainer,

du hast gerade in der Vorlage "Translate" die Erweiterung "Translate" verwendet um die Vorlage zu übersetzen. Da das ganze System im Vergleich zu den bisherigen Methoden zur Übersetzung noch sehr unbekannt zu sein scheint und die Dokumentation (zumindest hier auf Commons) dürftig bis nicht vorhanden zu sein scheint, habe ich mal ein paar Fragen abseits von mw:Help:Extension:Translate (kann auch sein das die Antworten dort stehen und ich sie überlesen habe, dann gerne drauf verweisen):

1. Sehe ich es richtig, dass alle bisherigen Übersetzungen unwiederbringlich verloren sind? Warum werden diese nicht übernommen? Im konkreten Fall hätte nur der Inhalt des Parameters "text_switch" übersetzt werden müssen, der Parameter "text" war ja bereits in unzählige Sprachen übersetzt.
2. Da ich die ganzen auf einfach getrimmten und auf DAU-Verstänedlichkeit ausgelegten UIs nicht leiden kann und immer noch am liebsten direkt reinen Wikitext auf regulären Wiki-Seiten bearbeite: Kann ich einfach direkt die Unterseiten (z.B. Translations:Template:Translate/i18n/2/de) bearbeiten? Oder bringt das die Erweiterung durcheinander? Falls ja: Könnte ich so auch neue Übersetzungen erstellen (indem ich z.B. die Seite Translations:Template:Translate/i18n/2/ar neu anlege?
3. Sehr interessant finde ich die Geschichte mit den Variablen (<tvar|...>) (z.B. stand auf meiner ToDo-Liste den Link zu SVGTranslate in eine Vorlage auszulagern – das ist hiermit überflüssig geworden). Ist das irgendwo genauer erklärt und vor allem: Kann ich das als Nicht-Admin überhaupt benutzen?
4. In der Anleitung steht man soll nicht manuell mit den Übersetzungs-Markern spielen, sie würden automatisch erstellt. Gibt es hier ein grundsätzliches Problem, oder ist das nur als Vorsichtsmaßnahme gedacht damit niemand aus versehen eine Übersetzung beschädigt? Ich habe hier Fälle im Sinn, in denen nur Kleinigkeiten verändert werden (z.B. ein Absatz hinzugefügt oder entfernt wird). Es wäre ein Einfaches so eine Änderung per Bot an allen Sprachvarianten vorzunehmen. Der Automatismus der Erweiterung würde hingegen auf einen Schlag alle Übersetzungen invalidieren (wenn ich das richtig verstehe), womit die Nutzer wieder Englisch sehen, und erstmal unzählige Übersetzer unnötig Arbeitszeit investieren müssten um diese minimale Änderung einzupflegen.

Ganz schnell erst einmal Help:Preparing_a_page_for_translation. Am besten du fragst gleich nach dem Translate-admin-Recht auf dem COM:BN, dann wird dir auch einiges klarer. Ich füge jetzt die Übersetzungen ein, in ca. 30 min bin ich damit hoffentlich durch und beantworte alle übrigen Fragen. -- Rillke^(q?) 17:27, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

1. Wenn ich sie nicht übertragen hätte, wären sie verloren. Warum? Weil es eben eine DUI-Extension ist und noch keiner ein Skript für zur automatischen Übernahme von Vorlagen geschrieben hat (geht bestimmt irgendwie mit JS).
2. Kannst Du direkt bearbeiten. Die Übersetung unter Template:Translate/de würde dann automatisch aktualisiert (v.a. zeigt sie es so an, als ob du sie direkt bearbeitet hättest). Neue Übersetzung: Weiß ich nicht. Einfach ausprobieren. Auf COM:BN bitten, dich zur Gruppe der Translation administratoren hinzuzufügen und testen.
3. Jeder Benutzer kann es einfügen. Als Translation-Admin kannst Du die Übersetzung freigeben. Gibt auch nicht viel zu erklären, ist denke ich ganz intuitiv. Falls nicht: Ausprobieren! Auf mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation administration steht ein bisschen was dazu.
4. Invalidiert wird nur, wenn eine translation unit verändert wird. Wenn Du etwas hinzufügen oder entfernen möchtest, solltest Du Dir vorher eine Struktur überlegen, bei der Du translation units hinzufügen, verschieben oder entfernen kannst ohne deren Inhalt zu verändern. Eine translation unit macht die Erweiterung automatisch, sobald sie eine Leerzeile sieht; man kann sie aber auch manuell mit <translate>-tags erzeugen (meistens muss man es sogar, damit es die Übersetzer so leicht wie möglich haben und wenn man vermeiden möchte, dass das HTML-output semantisch zerstört wird und damit man es in Zukunft leichter warten kann). Die Anleitung möchte damit nur sagen, dass man nicht selbst durchnummerieren soll. Löschungen und Verschiebungen sind zulässig. Super, danke für die Antworten! Ich werd mich die Tage auf jeden Fall nochmal genauer einlesen und gegebenenfalls auch die TA-Rechte anfragen. Zwei Fragen habe ich spontan noch:

• Gibt es eine Möglichkeit translation units der Ausgangssprache zu ändern ohne die Übersetzungen zu invalidieren (etwa um einen Rechtschreibfehler zu entfernen oder eine kleinere grammatikalische Ungenauigkeit auszubügeln)? Ich befürchte schon, dass die Antwort "nein" ist, denn das ist ja eigentlich der Sinn der Sache. Praktisch wäre es aber schon (gerade auch bei Übersetzungen wie du sie heute übertragen hast, von denen man schon weiß, dass sie ohnehin nur so ungefähr stimmen).
• Wenn man eine Variable in der Ausgangssprache austauscht (z.B. den Link zu SVGTranslate), den übrigen Text jedoch unverändert lässt, bleiben die Übersetzungen dann gültig? --Patrick87 (talk) 21:32, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

• Für beide Fälle gibt es eine Checkbox "Do not invalidate translations" für jede einzelne geänderte Einheit. Zum zweiten: bugzilla:50103. Hi Rainer, ich mal wieder... Habe mich mittlerweile etwas mit der Erweiterung auseinandergesetzt und bin mittlerweile auch Translation Administrator wie du vielleicht bemerkt hast.
Was ich mich gerade frage: Was bringt die Übersetzung des Seitentitels ("Page display title")? Ich kann mir dafür keine einzige sinnvolle Anwendung vorstellen. Im Gegenteil, denn es zerstört doch das grundlegende Wikiprinzip, dass ich den Seitentitel in Wikilinks (und auch in URLs) verwenden kann? In bugzilla:34098 scheinen das außer dir alle recht locker zu sehen. Überseh' ich hier irgendwas oder ist dieser Blödsinn tatsächlich die Art und Weise wie die Erweiterung in den Augen des WMF "Language Engineering"-Teams in Zukunft funktionieren soll? --Patrick87 (talk) 18:37, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi Patrick, es sind eigentlich nur die Wikimedia-Wikis, bei denen der {{DISPLAYTITLE: nicht von der Seiten-URL abweichen darf (oder, besser gesagt, durfte); dieses Verhalten wird sonst über $wgRestrictDisplayTitle gesteuert. Aus Sicht der Langue-Engineers ist es natürlich wünschenswert, dass der Titel auch von Arabern, die kein bisschen Latein können, verstanden werden kann. Dass es dann mit Copy&Paste (Für die URL, den Wikitext oder die Suche) ein bisschen schwieriger wird und es zu Verwirrungen kommen kann, ist ein Nachteil. Vielleicht könnte generell ein Code für C&P angeboten werden (inkl. kurzer Permalink, curid, ...) — in dieser Hinsicht ist MediaWiki noch ein Fossil.

Am besten man weist die Übersetzer darauf hin, dass sie eine Weiterleitung anlegen mögen, sollten sie sich für einen abweichenden Titel entscheiden. -- Rillke^(q?) 21:14, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Das Argument mit den Arabern macht einigermaßen Sinn, auch wenn die dadurch verursachten Probleme in meinen Augen in keinem Verhältnis zum Nutzen stehen. Weiterleitungen scheinen die einzige einigermaßen sinnvolle Lösung zu sein, allerdings macht man sich dadurch schon wieder Special:WhatLinksHere kaputt. Kollisionen bei Artikelnamen scheinen nicht unwahrscheinlich, wenn jede Seite plötzlich zusätzlich unter unzähligen Weiterleitungen erreichbar ist. Dass der Namensraum teil des zu übersetzenden Seitentitels ist, ist hochgradig fahrlässig.
Ich hoffe das Ganze entwickelt sich in eine sinnvolle Richtung, wenn hier in Zukunft immer mehr Seiten übersetzt werden... --Patrick87 (talk) 22:42, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Question about a gadget

I think you can probably help with this question a user asked on the French-language Bistro about the gadget that adds an "Uploads" link to the pages. The user is asking how he can make "Uploads" link to the list page without having showall as the default option. In other words, how to have the link for him behave by default as it did before this modification. Can he do that by writing something in his common.js user page that could overrule the mediawiki page? If you want, please answer directly on the Bistro page. Beim dritten (mit der Bezeichnung "{{Own}} (part 2)") fehlt meines Erachtens eine "runde Klammer zu". Weißt du vielleicht wo? This is a library and comes without a user interface. It is used by some tools, including AjaxQuickDelete. If you need a user interface, use User:Sreejithk2000/JustReplace.js. Restoring files

Hi Rillke. DelReqHandler is a wonderful tool, but I'm wondering if you've ever considered an UndelReqHandler tool? A tool that could add a [restore] link to deleted files in DRs/UDRs/ and on pages would be lovely. I had to hand restore 100 or so files today per an undeletion request, and it was murder. The tool could be good for OTRS restorations of multiple files as well. Twinkle on en.wiki has a mass restore function, but it's a bit strange: it only works by copy and pasting a list of deleted files into userspace or transcluding into userspace. Any mass restore tool would be a good thing for Commons. If there already is one, then smack me in the head and link me to it. ;) INeverCry 22:30, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

VisualFileChange.js - Insert a personal template if conditions are fulfilled

Hallo Rillke,

ich habe heute das o.g. Tool genutzt, um einen persönlich von mir gestalteten Verwendungshinweis einzupflegen. Das hat zunächst einmal wunderbar und ohne großes Studium sehr gut geklappt.

Nun existieren auf Commons noch einige Bilder, die ich selbst nicht hochgeladen habe, und die ich ebenfalls über das Programm um die Vorlage ergänzen würde. Dazu wäre es hilfreich wenn Du mir sagen könntest, ob es eine Möglichkeit gibt eine bedingte Ersetzung vornehmen zu lassen. Also nach dem Motto "prüfe ob die Datei den Text sowieso hat dann mache diese Aktion". Habe auch die "intelligente Dateiauswahl" gefunden, dort aber nicht wirklich so eine Möglichkeit auf Anhieb finden können.

prüfe ob die Datei den Text sowieso hat dann mache diese Aktion - verstehe ich zwar nicht im Detail, weil ich davon ausgehe, dass du irgendeinen Bauklotz auf der Seite platzieren willst, aber nach Text kannst Du suchen lassen. Das Problem dabei ist eben, dass Du vorher die Dateien in den Dialog laden lassen musst und anschließend kannst Du mit der "intelligente[n] Dateiauswahl" Dateien auswählen (oder die Auswahl aufheben). Manche Sachen kann man auch durch Hin-und-herersetzen lösen. Wenn man z.B. nur Dateien mit 'XXXX' im Text verarbeiten möchte, wählt man die Ersetzen-Aktion und kann dann über Reguläre Ausdrück zum Ziel kommen. Würde ich hier z.B. /^((?:\n|.)*)XXXX\n/ mit {{Mein Baustein}}$1 ersetzen lassen, würde aus

das werden:

aber nur, wenn XXXX auf der Seite bereits vorhanden ist. Ansonsten wird nix gemacht. Wenn Du noch eine Enter-Taste vor dem $1 eingiebst, sieht es sogar ganz ordentlich aus. Danke, das werde ich mal probieren. In der Tat sind noch etliche Bilder, die ich nicht selbst hochgeladen haben in einer Kategorie enthalten. Und zum Sinn der Aktion: da in der Kategorie ja auch Bilder enthalten sind, die ich selbst hochgeladen habe und nach der Aktion gestern bereits den Baustein drin haben, sollen genau diese von der nächsten Ersetzungsaktion ausgeschlossen werden, damit der Baustein nicht zweifach enthalten ist. Den Baustein zweifach drin habe ich leider dennoch in den Fällen, wo es eine Lizenzdualität gibt. Diese muss ich dann mal gesondert irgendwie herausfiltern. Hi, I have a quick question: is it possible to trigger the POTY script and the 'My POTY' popup on Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Control_Panela certain page? (I'm fairly sure it is, but I'm not quite sure what the best implementation is for doing something like that.) Yes, I could add that functionality. You may use, for example {{Clickable button|Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Control_Panela certain page#com-my-poty-button|Information about MyPOTY|id=com-my-poty-button}}. The only important thing is that there is an ID or class (IDs must be unique) and I know which one should be used by the script when setting this up. I just read it and the related discussions. Hope promising, if can handle all types of works including {{Book}}, {{Specimen}}, {{Art Photo}}, etc. and institutional uploads like {{BArch-image}}. Bit of advice

Hello Rillke,
I am a contributor in biology and templates/lua modules for biology.
I have been working a lot with User:Rocket000 on the templates but now that he left I feel lonely.
Could you help me find another contributor with which I could brainstorm on templates/lua modules?
Let me give you an example of the questions I would like to ask to this contributor:
I modified {{MSW}}, which takes a parameter, to verify if this parameter matches with Property:P959 stored in wikidata.
But sometimes I need to modify the {{MSW}} call to disable this check.
So I would like to add a parameter, but I don't know how to name it: disabletest=yes, disablecheck=yes, checks=no...
