Can you update File:Decriminalization of Homosexuality by country or territory.svg now that Botswana has decriminalized? (June 2019)[edit]

Hello Ratherous,

Since you were someone who helped update the file File:Decriminalization of Homosexuality by country or territory.svg in the past, I was wondering if you could help update it since Botswana has now decriminalized it as of June 2019. Botswana would need to be pink like Angola (instead of black for illegal). w:en:LGBT rights by country or territory uses this image, but it's not been updated yet. Thanks! Hi, I like this map, but I have a suggestion for a moderate change. My suggestion is to introduce a new category for countries which have had infections, but are presently without any infected individuals. These are countries where 'confirmed cases'='deaths'+'recoveries' in the table "2019–20 nCoV outbreak by country and territory". As of right now (2020-02-12 21:45 UTC) the following countries would belong to this category:

Philippines, Russia, Nepal, Cambodia, Finland, Sri Lanka.

A continuing expansion of this category would signal the retreat of the epidemic, and I believe such information would be useful. Melsom62 (talk) 21:45, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ratherous, I came here to say thanks for making the map more detailed! Melsom62, it might be difficult to find sources for such addition, but it might be something worth discussing at the talk page of that image. Mikael Häggström (talk) 19:45, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. It was definitely something worth changing so thank you for bringing up the idea with your bold move. --Ratherous (talk) 19:47, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

French Guiana[edit]

FYI: Someone started a discussion about French Guiana on File talk:COVID-19 Outbreak World Map.svg, seemingly related to a revert of yours. I have no opinion on what red/pink colour French Guiana should be (light pink for its own 5 cases; or medium pink if treated together with mainland France since French Guiana has the same department status as the departments of mainland France) , but it shouldn't be grey because it has cases. No reason to reply here and you can remove this message once you read it. Anyway, nice work on the maps. 62.107.211.90 12:58, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Covid-19 map[edit]

No COVID-19 case has ever been reported in Mayotte or Réunion Island, the dark red dots representing both islands gives a misleading impression of the virus propagation. Same applies to the dark red of French Guiana, Guadeloupe and Martinique. Statistically speaking, cases are included in France's case toll but geographically speaking like on such a map, it really should be treated separately. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Philippe-Pierre (talk • contribs) 10:36, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cases were reported in French Guiana, so it was decided to colour in the non-autonomous territories all together. --Ratherous (talk) 11:21, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

UPTADE! Pandemic map of COVID-19 in Mexico[edit]

Hello, my name is Miguel Angel and I currently live in Mexico. I would like you to update the Pandemic map of COVID-19 in Mexico because several new cases have been added. In this case, it is necessary to add Queretaro and "[[State of Mexico]]" on the map. Thank you for reading this message. I wish you good night.

Extra color for 50,000?[edit]

Can you add a new color?

50000+ Confirmed cases

10000-49999 Confirmed cases

1000-9999 Confirmed cases

100-999 Confirmed cases

10-99 Confirmed cases

1-9 Confirmed cases

Now that 4 countries (China, Italy, USA, and Spain) have above 50,000 it makes sense to add a new color. And Germany almost has 50,000 cases. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Humiebees (talk • contribs) 16:38, 27 March 2020 (UTC) Humiebees (talk) 16:36, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, now that the US passed 100,000 and Italy seems quite close. I think it's a better idea to make a 100,000 option and just keep the numbers moving in the same exponential pattern. --Ratherous (talk) 00:13, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File:NATO relations in Europe (disputed territories).svg[edit]

Hello! De facto, NATO suspended all types of civil and military cooperation with the Russian Federation in March 2014. Currently, there is not even a permanent representative in the Russian mission to NATO — after the departure of Alexander Grushko to Moscow on January 22 2018 no one has been appointed to this position. The program «Partnership for Peace» does not work. Until the resumption of cooperation and the appointment of an Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to NATO is appointed, Russia should not be listed as a participant in the program «Partnership for Peace». Therefore, if you specify Russia as a participant in the program, you can mislead readers. Sincerely, And S Yu (talk) 16:15, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless, Russia never formally withdrew from the partnership, so removing them from the map would also be very misleading. I'm sure the Wikipedia article talks about the political tensions, so it wouldn't be an issue. --Ratherous (talk) 17:17, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

2020 Belarus protests reactions map[edit]

North Korea should be green. Eritrea also was in the only country to vote in favor of the Lukashenko government at the UN Human rights council (besides Venezuela). Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Iran, Mongolia and Egypt had military cooperation with the Lukashenko government after the election.

Afghanistan, South Korea, Marshall Islands, Fiji, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay all voted to condemn the Lukashenko government Fenetrejones (talk) 18:51, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that on the article but I could not verify that through the sources provided. Do you have sources where this is evident? --Ratherous (talk) 00:31, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Here they are: Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Iran, Mongolia and Egypt: [15]

Afghanistan, South Korea, Marshall Islands, Fiji, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay and Eritrea (Only Pro Lukashenko country here)[16]

North Korea[17] Fenetrejones (talk) 01:00, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I will definitely add North Korea, however I do not think the failure of ending military ties automatically means support for Lukashenko's government. Also I am still unable to open the second source.--Ratherous (talk) 03:16, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Try opening this one for Eritrea and the condemning countries. [18] Also those countries had military cooperation after the protests that is why I brought them up

Fenetrejones (talk) 14:18, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell from that source that is only a vote to obtain a report rather than a condemnation. --Ratherous (talk) 14:35, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It is a condemnation[19] and now can you please add those countries on the map? Also the countries with military cooperation started it after the protests. Fenetrejones (talk) 14:51, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That source doesn't say anything about those countries, it talks about specific UN chairmen. Also the other countries did not just start military cooperation after the protests, they simply retained it, which really isn't a statement of support. Honestly even if they did start military cooperation after the protests, that still wouldn't be enough to conclude they support Lukashenko presidency. --Ratherous (talk) 07:13, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It is a condemnation.[20] Fenetrejones (talk) 13:42, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think that is enough justification to add the countries in a separate lighter red category, and Eritrea in a separate lighter green. I will do that. --Ratherous (talk) 13:58, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds good. Thank you for putting them on the map. Fenetrejones (talk) 18:26, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh and a few other countries expressed their positions at the UNHRC. San Marino was a sponsor of the resolution.[21] Burundi called the recent elections: "transparent and fair." Myanmar welcomed the election of Lukashenko, condemned other countries for alleged interference, and asked "the international community to support the government of Belarus." New Zealand said they are "deeply concerned about the deterioration and the human rights situation in Belarus since the presidential election in August."[22] So Burundi and Myanmar should probably be the same color as Eritrea while San Marino and New Zealand have similar color to countries like Peru and Mexico. Fenetrejones (talk) 19:19, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Statements like that makes me feel that I should just leave the colour the same regardless as each country is clearly making their statements on the issue. I think I'll just add them with the same two colours that are already on the map. --Ratherous (talk) 19:42, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Found a few more countries, all should be red btw: Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ghana, Israel, Micronesia, and Monaco.[23] Fenetrejones (talk) 02:21, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I added those as well. --Ratherous (talk) 03:58, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Update World Laws for the status of Homosexuality[edit]

Lebanon unenforced as stated before , Iraq still de Facto illegal as ILGA confirms so we will still marked it as it says in the summary . Delete the orange dot in the city of Palembang as the regional laws there banning homosexual contacts has been revoked . No Laws changed other than this ( Including in Europe , Americas , Africa etc. ) .

Also Israel does recognize SSM performed abroad.

I have updated the file with your current map , didn't messed up any of them okayy ( None changed except for Indonesia ) . Just updated for Indonesia bcs the Anti homosexual law in the city of Palembang (South Sumatra ) have been revoked recently. Please update for Israel and Lebanon, Israel recognizes Same sex marriage performed abroad and Lebanon became unenforced since 2017 ( Which means it turned at least to yellow ) .

Please provide refs. Israel does not rec SSM as marriage, so dark purple would be inaccurate. Kwamikagami (talk) 08:18, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File:World laws pertaining to homosexual relationships and expression.svg[edit]

I have some comments regarding the representation of Afghanistan in this file (seeing that you've been a regular contributor recently). The current color states 'up to death', but I think this is dubious. First of all, there is no official law yet from the current Taliban regime regarding LGBT. The person who made the edit to the current color of death (Kaleetan on September 1) cited an article in which a gay Afghan reported that his boyfriend was killed by the Taliban. However, this is not an official law, it is a case. Secondly, there is the other issue in that the Taliban regime ('Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan') is currently not recognized by any country in the world, and their rule is a de facto case.

Taking these into consideration, wouldn't it be wise to change Afghanistan to

striped 2

representing 'Death under areas of militant control, or extrajudicial killings by state authorities'? It would be both accurate and neutral. --WR 11:46, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. To be honest with you I haven't been as frequent of a contributor as some other users, but I do know that the map actually does generally represent the de facto situation rather than the legally recognized worldview. That is why Crimea is coloured the same colour as Russia. Previously ISIS was also coloured red as is Afghanistan now, so I think that is where that user was coming from when changing Afghanistan's colour. --Ratherous (talk) 17:23, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If country recognition isn't the case here then yeah it's OK. But the color would still be dubious due to no official law. The red on white stripe would be most neutral. To be honest I would choose to be bold and make the change myself, except that I don't know how to input those stripes with the software I have. --WR 17:09, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Good Evening Ratherous, Would you possibly be able to change the color of the "Constitution recognizes same-sex marriage" on the Constitutional bans on same-sex unions types US.svg map to a lighter blue?
