Naming of the BSicon[edit]

Hi. Please, do you know why the BSicon   (STRrf),   (STRrg),   (STRlf) and   (STRlg) and they derivative icons (light rail, out of order tracks...) are named so ? Isn't it more logical to call them respectively   (STRr),   (STR+l),   (STRl) and   (STR+r) ?

Furthermore, I have seen that all the BSicons that only represent ex or future tracks (  (exSTRrf),   (exSTR) or   (exSTRl)) are called "exROOT". But the page about BS templates on englisk Wikipedia (en:WP:RDT/C) explains that the prefix e represents icons whith ex-element (station, bridge...) and that the x is for ex-tracks. Won't it be logical to rename   (exSTR) to   (xSTR) ?

Syncerely --Pic-Sou (talk) 17:44, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This topic is due to historic naming. The inventor of BSicons, User:Bernina, seemingly didn't expect that many derivatives of his icons. I realized that the system of "driving direction" (de: Fahrtrichtung) and "reverse direction" (de: Gegenrichtung) will come to it's limits soon, but unfortunaly the {STR|ABZ}{l|r}{f|g} icons were already heavily used. Furthermore I wanted to chop back the uncontrolled rank growth, that's why I never touched those icons. If there'll be time enough no other icons to substitute, I'll take care of those icons ...
"ex" has simply always been the prefix if the complete icon is out of business. That's why it was introduced that way. a×pdeHello! 17:53, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Could a renaming of these icons be envisaged ? --Pic-Sou (talk) 20:46, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, at the moment we're already overwhelmed with work correcting all other icons, guess it wouldn't be wise to start another crusade right now ;-) a×pdeHello! 20:49, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you sure, It's ok[edit]

If the only reason for the downgrading of my audience is to be attributed to the difficulty in understanding the proper use of "rename" or "bad name" templates, I think is possibly discuss with other admins. If you are interested you can see the work I'm doing accurately recategorisation of many images of churches, oratories and several other buildings in Italy so I think take away some technical advantage is reflected as an increased workload on the admin. Sorry for use of an on line translator. Regards PS:I hope you do not think you use the template only to expedite my request, would be a misunderstanding.--Threecharlie (talk) 08:48, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just had a look at your edit count and I was really impressed. On the other hand I don't understand why you still mix up the templates for speedy deletion and rename! Don't you check the result of your edit? a×pdeHello! 08:55, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My problem lies in not having yet made a cheat sheet on the template service to handle errors of incorrect appointment of a file. I myself sometimes, as you saw, I make stupid mistakes of assonance (the last was the likeness of Category:Castegnero in Category:Castagnaro) so I am forced to ask for your intervention. Thanks for your patience. :-)--Threecharlie (talk) 09:11, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So why don't you just list those frequently needed links on you user page? You already began (Little template collection for my empty memory), so you just need to add others ;-) a×pdeHello! 09:15, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Of course you're right, and if I still have not done it so I thought I understood, something that clearly is not. You have the patience to put them yourself on that list so that I remain at your fingertips? No matter if I'm with a description in English, I'll try to make a translation to understand ;-)--Threecharlie (talk) 09:21, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A question[edit]

I agree with you that Commons isn't really the place for all this POV. I'd like to know how you feel then about the following images regarding the Serbia-Kosovo conflict. Should the following files be deleted as well?

File:Kosovo is Serbia.png
File:Serbia logo.png
File:Serbia stub.svg
File:Serbia-map-with-flag.gif
File:Србија.JPG
File:Kosovo is Independent.PNG
They're all either being used or could be used by Serbians (and Serbia-supporters) who refuse to acknowledge the reality of Kosovo no longer being part of Serbia, except for the last one, which is for the other side. As well, if they should be deleted, then File:Serbia EU (with Kosovo).svg should be deleted as well, and File:Serbia EU (without Kosovo).svg should be renamed to "Serbia EU" (corresponding to all the other EU flag maps). It's your call, but per your decision on the Israel and Palestine maps, I think it's a discussion that should be raised. Fry1989 eh? 02:50, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I'm not familiar with Serbian or Kosovarian flags, but AFAIK Kosovo is an independent state, and no file should show something else. Btw. File:Kosovo AL Flag Map.svg is POV as well, while File:Kosovo US FlagMap.svg and File:Kosovo EU.svg are nonsense! Only File:KosovoFlagMap.svg is rather acceptable, although it looks funny because of the doubled boundary ... ;-)
I'd suggest you make a collection of all those flags/maps that implicate a politcal statement beyond reality and request the mass deletion. I'd be better than deleting each file seperately! a×pdeHello! 12:26, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
With respect to the Kosovo EU map, every European country has a flag map with the EU flag. They're being used to support EU enlargement and membership for all of Europe, so I think it should stay. As for the others, I'll work on a mass deletion soon. Fry1989 eh? 19:30, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please delete this file at Commons:Deletion requests/File:GLBT Serbia.png. The situation must end, and I'm sure you will agree why. Fry1989 eh? 20:08, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Logo ICE[edit]

Was meinst du dazu?
LG... --CellarDoor85 17.Sep.2011 - 14:10

Flags of Germany (during 1933-1945) situation[edit]

As an admin, I'm sure you will agree with the need for accuracy on here, and I also hope you can understand the sensitivity of this subject. There were 3 flags used during the Nazi period, whose use have been somewhat disputed here. Many users have been aware of the distinction between the swastika flag with the centered disk being the Party Flag of the NSDAP, while the offset disk was the national flag and merchant ensign. However, until now, we didn't have much proof, and there were users who disputed what was what. We are now fortunate enough to have several sources, including a copy of one of the official laws by the Nazi party regarding the flags of Germany during that period. The sources are on this page.I believe that since we now have sources, it is time to do a rename of the 3 flags in question, to reflect their true time of use and purpose. Therefore, I am asking you to rename the following files:

These names will reflect each flags actual status and time of use during this period in history. Fry1989 eh? 17:36, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Aside some minor adjustments mentioned above I proceeded your request. Regards a×pdeHello! 21:16, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

BSicon delete candidate[edit]

I have removed all in-use files from Category:Icons for railway descriptions/delete candidate. Could you please delete everything in the category as of right now, unless there is some rule I am not aware of? Train2104 (talk) 00:50, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Each file needs to have a valid speedy delete reason such as "duplicate of" (+duplicate file), "incompatible with other BSicon" (e.g. wrong path position), "incompatible with BS-templates" (e.g. wrong file format), etc. Regards a×pdeHello! 20:39, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Flags of Serbia[edit]

Can you please also do this rename for me, on File:Serbia stub.svg. I've got users who are obstructing this for their own political views regarding the Serbia and Kosovo situation. Their objections to us reflecting reality is noted, but not productive. I would also suggest protecting the file afterwards, because no doubt there will be several Pro-Serbia users trying to name it back, to continue the Serbian claim of Kosovo as theirs. Fry1989 eh? 18:47, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The file name File:Serbia stub.svg was non-descriptive, but the suggested file name is provocative as well! I second the idea of User:WhiteWriter and renamed all files in his manner. a×pdeHello! 20:14, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Kosovo is not an independent state until they become full UN member! And that is de facto reality. And it's wrong that some wikipedia users promote own political views on this way. Or if is that OK, then we need new country maps for Georgia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus etc. After Kosovo become full UN member than OK, but until than actions like this one are pure politicking.--Nikola-PMF83 (talk) 22:41, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

vuxSTRr-xKRZo vs exvuSTRr-KRZo[edit]

I changed   (exvuSTRr-KRZo) to   (vuxSTRr-xKRZo), however this was not such a good move. I can't change the name back however since Commons considers that a file with the old proper name is already existing. Any solutions? Wiebevl (talk) 11:30, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Parallel rail proposal[edit]

I've been working on a new, all-encompassing BSicon naming scheme, and I'd appreciate some thought on a preliminary version of the naming scheme for parallel lines. The goal here is to narrow as much as possible the use of "combo" names and eliminate the dash as a prefix/suffix. Circeus (talk) 16:20, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Parallel icons haven't been introduced to German wikipedia, thus I never thought about them. All I have to say is, they should always have a "v"-prefix in order to identify them easily. a×pdeHello! 19:36, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming a BSicon[edit]

Hello! I wanted to rename   (hRP2a) to   (hRP2oa) (one of several renamings, some done, some to do, after discussion here). So I marked   (hRP2a) with {{rename}} and created a new file page for   (hRP2oa), with a redirect to   (hRP2a). Then I replaced "hRP2a" with "hRP2oa" in 9 articles of 3 projects. Isn’t this the simplest way to do it? Now the new redirect was tagged for deletion: File:BSicon hRP2oa.svg, and I’m afraid those 9 articles will break. Can you have a look? --Tuvalkin (talk) 04:50, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seems as if the old file has been renamed meanwhile. I usually move the file first. If there are to many occurances, I keep the redirect, put it in Category:Icons for railway descriptions/obsolete redirect and start replacing. If there are only a few of them like your example about I suppress the redirect and fix all occurances after moving. During those minutes the file link is broken, but only some minutes ... Regards a×pdeHello! 19:05, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

* cross mediatype redirect[edit]

Hallo Axpde, you have added "* cross mediatype redirect" to MediaWiki:Deletereason-dropdown. Can you tell me what this should mean? A redir from File:Foobar.jpg to File:Foobar.png? That works and I see not why this needs to be a default reason. Can you tell me? :) Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 01:06, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I added this for redirects of svg to png and vice versa. If you expect to find a svg (which one can easily edit) but get a graphics file ... Those redirects may work, on the other hand they aren't really necessary and but to the highest degree deceptive. a×pdeHello! 13:26, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I agree that it is not nice to use them for a long time in articles - but I see no special reason why they should be deleted on a regular basis. And this suggests (at least a bit) the listing in the dropdown, doesn't it? I agree that that it is not useful to create such redirs without a need - but if a file is "moved" from jpg to png (to enable lossless editing, smaller file size, ...) there should be a redir from the old jpeg name to the new png. Can you give me an example where you need this deletion reson? Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 18:02, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Interwikilink[edit]

Hallo Axpde!
Hi Axpde. No issues, just want to know what's wrong with this? We already have more similar shortcuts further up, and these are some of the longest entries stretching the dropdown's width unnecessarily... Just curious. Rehman 06:07, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Help! I was trying to rename this file to File:BSicon uxmKRZqusw.svg, but somehow managed to totally botch it. Could you fix the move? (and I'll take care to the redirects). Thank you. Useddenim (talk) 04:28, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It parses as
u x m KRZ q u sw
light rail
(a/k/a canal)
secondary
out of use
mixed crossing rotated under swing bridge
Thanks for the help! Useddenim (talk) 11:31, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I did comment somewhere when I uploaded it that I wasn't sure if that was the correct name. You might also like to consider the names of two other uploads of mine which are also swing bridges carrying railway over canal: File:BSicon umKRZuxsw.svg; File:BSicon umKRZuswq.svg. --Redrose64 (talk) 09:40, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There's only two features, so the standard e/x prefixes work for this icon. And the q suffix generally seems to follow immediately after the KRZ root. Useddenim (talk) 11:31, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I see that somebody copied File:BSicon umKRZuswq.svg to File:BSicon umKRZqusw.svg and then somebody else slapped a {{duplicate|BSicon umKRZuswq.svg}} on the former. If   (umKRZuswq) is the incorrect name, and   (umKRZqusw) is correct, please could one of the admins watching this page rename it properly, not by a cut and paste hack, for reasons of attribution. I can't do it myself, because I don't have the filemover right. --Redrose64 (talk) 18:09, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

At first glance:

  • q should only be used with track running across
  • sw – we never had two-letter-suffixes and we shouldn't start introducing those!
  • The design is completely different to other icons so we should find a unique ID for those!

a×pdeHello! 11:10, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Then we're back to   (DBK) (En: swing bridge / De: Drehbrücke),   (mDBK) etc., which was originally proposed at Talk:BSicon/Renaming#Icon name query, dating from July–September 2011. We should also consider what to use for a lift bridge (De: Hubbrücke), as the canal icon   (uLIFT) isn't suitable. Useddenim (talk) 12:43, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
How about this:   (HBKq)? Useddenim (talk) 14:00, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Nice design ... but maybe a little bit to complicated to be presented at 20x20px ...? a×pdeHello! 11:45, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ÜABZlr+G2qu[edit]

Wanna explain what just hapened here? -- Tuválkin 16:25, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I exchanged this icon by overlayed standard icons, because their names have changed and "ÜABZlr+G2qu" isn't recognizable anymore. There was a consense to use overlay instead of creating specialized icons, esp. if there are too many variations possible ... Regards a×pdeHello! 17:08, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Look, you’re a Commons editor as there’s nothing I can do to go against your will. I’m having similar problems in pt:wp and really annoyed at this and willing to focus on personal (or personally managed) projects instead. Collaborative endeavours should be about people working together for some commonly agreed-on goal, and disagreeing over details, not this constant mess. I have had problems in the past with you (concerning   (eGRENZE),   (vSTR2-), and maybe a few others) and I don’t have the impression that you want to be fair or reasonable when challenged. So, do what you will, but don’t count on me any more — unless you want to collaborate (="work together") for real.
In this case I, as a simple editor, felt the need for a specific icon, based on assessment of the local situation; as a simple editor, building on the system of image and naming conventions created by Bernina and developed by you and a few others (me included, if I may say so), I created and named the needed icon. This is as it should be: The system allows and enables simple editors to add to the BS icon library for common use.
You coming over and arbitrarily changing one single icon with an ungainly stacking of three icons (that look the same only because wp:pt BS-templates happens to be updated to accept multiple overlays (thanks to me, by the way) and because this diagram uses the default background color   (MASKq)), without even discussing it in the talk page, comes across as discretionary and insensitive to the local situation. Do you want to look like that to other people? Do you want to discourage other people from adding to the BS-icon library? Is that the way of Wikipedia?
You say this icon (looking like  , but with gaps) is «specialized» (meaning it is unlikely to be needed for wider use), and that is cause — not only not to create it, but even to delete it after it was created and in use for months. And you do that the same week you upload the icon family of   (ebvWSL-BS2+l) — a group of highly experimental icons, obviously renderable with existing halves and some overlays, and hard to use because of their double with. Note that I have no problem with those icons, I like them, but you cannot say with a straight face they are worthy for the project while   (ÜABZlr+G2qu) was not.
Your argument that the name   (ÜABZlr+G2qu) «isn’t recognizable anymore» is disingenious and unfit even for unused icons, let alone for one in use. If the name is not good, rename the icon. I used that name because that was what was in use at the time. I fully agree that   (ABZ23) is a much better name that the one(s) used before, but then why didn’t you just tagged   (ÜABZlr+G2qu) to be renamed   (ABZ23+G2qu) (as per Circeus’ suggestion about a similar icon) or something like that?
-- Tuválkin 19:30, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Btw. is the RP2 correct? Both sides continue as RP1 ...? a×pdeHello! 17:09, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, as you can see in this aerial view: It is a wide bridge, with two lanes (or at least as wide as two lanes) bridging what seems to be a really wide dirt track. (So, sides do continue as RD1, actually, although RD2, if it existed, would be a better choice.) Maybe this satellite pass catched a road under construction and a more recent one will show   (RP2q) on both sides, in wich case it will be dully changed in the diagram as labelled with its Spanish road number. Thanks for your care. -- Tuválkin 19:30, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rights[edit]

Not meaning to be pestering, but I'm still a little confused about that - how is editcount a meaningful figure of experience, especially here? Nevermind that I could probably categorise a few hundred cat images without learning diddly squat about the rest of Commons, from what I understand folks usually come here from other projects, often their native-tongue wikipedias, so even if they are experienced in general that doesn't mean they'll have many edits here if and when they have develope an interest in this specific project. Or is this why some people explicitly state 'I have X rights on meta and X rights on enwsource etc', to make that clear? That always struck me as a little silly, since usually the user info templates link directly to things that list that information anyway, but if people don't always check the global information, it would explain a bit. Isarra (talk) 22:48, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's why there's no exact limit. I usually check the user contributions, too ...
And policies are different, we need to make sure, that the user knows about that fact. a×pdeHello! 09:16, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

KRZSTRlg[edit]

Hello again. Can you please make sure   (KRZSTRlg) is deleted, this time? Already two of your esteemed collegues caught with my deletion proposals, couldn’t make heads or tails of what it is all about, and decided to keep it. (Yeah, BSicons are not as straighforward as CosplayCon Backstage CopyVios and other simple stuff deletion requests usually deal with.) -- Tuválkin 16:42, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it's quite a mess to explain to others ... if you put those icons in Category:Icons for railway descriptions/delete candidate I'll take care of those ;-) a×pdeHello! 22:34, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I’ll do that in future occasions. Thanks for the tip. -- Tuválkin 10:16, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Action request[edit]

Recently I was concerning about a protected file:China administrative.svg‎. The revert war sparked when an Indian user:Kondicherry started uploading his version that indicates the Chinese terrirtories that claimed by the Indian Government. When this is not agreed by the Chinese users and reverted, he uploaded another version that completely removed all the disputed areas from the map. Needless to say this just prolonged the revert war. When this caught the admin user:Denniss' attention, he protected the file and revert it to Kondicherry's version that omits all disputed areas.

Now I'm not content with Denniss' decision because the map is meant to be used in the Wikipedia article that describes Chinese internal administrative division, not international territorial dispute, thus it's meant to not include the areas claimed by India. Denniss suggested to fork another file, which I've complied (File:China administrative claimed included.svg) but still not happy with the current status. The original file is not incorrectly named, it's more appropriate to fork Kondicherry's versions under different file names.

I ask you now because Denniss is apparently evading my inquiry in his talk page while still actively editing Commons. If you agree with me, please revert the map to the version with grey areas. Denniss is also a German that you may speak with him in German, but I doubt he would reply you either. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 14:54, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

#sigh# ... whenever I tried to negotiate between political parties (Israel vs. Syria, Montenegro vs. Serbia) I got into trouble ...
Well, objectively speaking, if we want a map of the current and internationlly accepted borders, File:China administrative.svg is ok. If we want a map showing disputed territories, File:China administrative claimed included.svg is not ok, because the Indian claimed territory in the far west is omitted!
I think we should clearify what kind of map we want in first instance before unprotecting the file. And we need to find a central talk page for this, not my user talk ;-) ... a×pdeHello! 09:59, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You know it's pointless to discuss if a map with border dispute neutral or not because of this Commons:Project scope/Neutral point of view. I just think Denniss' action has encouraged endless overwriting of another user's file and forced the original version to fork when it doesn't violate any policy or guideline of Commons. If you really demand a Chinese (PRC) map with border dispute absolutely neutral, the whole area of the China Mainland will be covered by ROC (Taiwan)'s claim. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 01:02, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, I thought there were movements to end the RC-claims of PRC-territory ... anyways.
I have to admit that I'm a supporter of independence efforts, especially when detaching off a totalitarian regime, but that's my personal opinion.
We should find a central place to come to a solution both sides can live with! a×pdeHello! 13:12, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you wanna support independence from invader regime, en:Taiwanese aborigines would be a more appropriate target than RoC, imho. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 03:45, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh thanks, important point! I don't like suppressing the indigenous people of a country either. That's why I don't like the way the PRC treating the Tibetians or the USA dealing with the Native Americans. Kanada and Australia are on a good way I think. Can't judge about Russia or Brasilia ...
Let's put in a nutshell: Every human beeing shall be entitled to do whatever he wants to do, as long as he doesn't curtail oneone's rights!
I guess both RC and PRC have to learn that ... Regards a×pdeHello! 11:39, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Flag of the Republic of Croatia in 1990.svg[edit]

I see that you deleted File:Flag of the Republic of Croatia in 1990.svg. By doing that, you have damaged several articles on Croatian Wikipedia. I know that you think the deleted file was a duplicate of File:Flag of Croatia (1990).svg but it wasn't. The file you deleted had the first white square on the Coat of arms while the remaining file has the first red square. Therefore, to repair the damage you made, I must ask you to restore the deleted file.--Starčevićanac (talk) 11:36, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, it is no exact duplicate, but maybe you can tell me, which flag is the correct flag? a×pdeHello! 12:17, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The first Constitution of Croatia (before the current flag was designed) never specified which coat of arms is the correct one. However, the version with the first white square was used when the Croatian Parliament rejected the communist single-party system and adopted a liberal-democratic Constitution.--Starčevićanac (talk) 13:12, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok, thanks for your explanation! a×pdeHello! 09:16, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Still being a vandal and a troll, I see, Axpde. You could not be arsed to ask in the file’s talk page or in the uploaders’ why is there two different flags, and you surely could not be arsed to check the respective file uses. You have fast buttons, and you gonna use them. But fast buttons cannot compensate for a lazy mind, you know? -- Tuválkin 11:41, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm neither a vandal nor a troll, I'm doing my job as admin. And you should immediately stop to affront me with your vulgar tongue! Maybe you need a break to think about your vocabulary? a×pdeHello! 12:19, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You job as admin would be to carefully analize the situation instead of deleting a file on a whim. Your thinly veiled threat that I «should take a break» implies that, on top of being a vandal and a troll, you are also a bully. -- Tuválkin 18:30, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No threat, just a hint. You will never encounter me blocking you cause in this case I'm personally involved. But you're so blindfolded by your flight of fancy that you can't judge who's the bully.
By the way, why are you so keen on renaming my icons ... furthermore to a wrong name, you always omit the "g"! a×pdeHello! 09:26, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Offenbar sollte man diesen Bug mal melden. -- Rillke(q?) 08:36, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, was meinst Du mit "ohne Ersetzen"?
Thanks for uploading File:St. Michael - innen - Platte im Altar.JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:St. Michael - innen - Platte im Altar.JPG]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

File:St. Michael - innen - Altarraum.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Adminship removal[edit]

I'm sure you have received a few notifications already, but just to make it formal, I'm just letting you know that you've just had your administrator privileges here on Commons removed by a Wikimedia steward on Meta. As you are an experienced contributor, I have restored your patroller and rollbacker user rights that you held here before becoming an admin. I realise this must be a hard time for you, however I do hope you will keep on contributing to Commons in the future. Thanks a lot for everything you have done for this project over so many years. Best regards, odder (talk) 15:42, 3 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am so sorry. Useddenim (talk) 20:31, 3 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's not your fault. It's 1% my fault and 99% A.Savin – a well known name in the local wiki community in de:Bonn ... but not for good! a×pdeHello! 20:42, 3 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gruß --Furfur Diskussion 09:03, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

09:16, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:35, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
