Flickr[edit]

I found that you have approved multiple photos uploaded from Flickr when we don't allow BY-NC-SA licensing. These include File:Monster Ball uk Vanity BDR.jpg and others that have the file name starting with "Monster Ball uk". OhanaUnitedTalk page 06:18, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

At the time I reviewed the images they had BY-SA licensing, the author must have changed the licenses since then. You can see in this Google cached version of one of the images (another here). The point of the flickrreview system is to have a trusted user confirm it was released under a free license at some point/time of upload (Creative Commons licenses are non-revocable). If you start second-guessing the reviews of trusted users there is no point to the system. --Yarnalgo (talk) 06:33, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A question about Fusion BEV[edit]

Regarding this message, would you be so kind to be more specific. The picture is from Flickr (pending confirmation), and the url and the license are provided. So I appreciate if you tell me which piece of info is missing.-Mariordo (talk) 03:15, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The link originally on the page was not to the same image so I marked it as no source. MGA73 found the correct link and then I reviewed the image. You may remove that notice from your talk page if you want. --Yarnalgo (talk) 05:30, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Football venues for the 2016 Summer Olympics.svg[edit]

Hi Yarnalgo! Thank you for your help on File:Football venues for the 2016 Summer Olympics.svg. However, I found a grammar error: there is Mineairão while the correct form is Mineirão. Could you fix it? Best regards; Felipe Menegaz 18:19, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done Sorry I must have put that in there accidentally when I was fixing it. --Yarnalgo (talk) 19:16, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Deutsche Fotothek Logo.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Inactive Image-reviewers[edit]

Hello Yarnalgo, there is a discussion about a request regarding your image-reviewer user right, which have never been used or not used recently. You can participate discussion in Commons:Administrators' noticeboard#Inactive_Image-reviewers. This is just a notification of discussion you may be involved. Permissions for my photos.[edit]

No ticket For what it's worth, I'm a trusted user here and you can use reverse image searches to see that I didn't just take them from the Internet. If you want more verification, email n:user:Blood Red Sandman. —Justin (koavf)TCM 23:45, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Justin, I don't think that you took the images from somewhere else on the Internet, but if you are not the copyright holder of the photos then you need to provide evidence that the copyright holder has given permission to publish the images under the CC-0 license that you are claiming. Simply stating that the images come from an anonymous source is not sufficient. See Commons:OTRS, which states, "If the copyrighted file is uploaded by someone who is not the copyright holder, and the copyright status is not stated at the external file's source, then the copyright holder needs to provide permission for the distribution of the file under a free license. Permissions have to be sent by email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org."
Also, as a side note, make sure to always upload the highest resolution versions of photographs. If you have access to the original images, please upload those full resolution versions instead of the low resolution versions that you uploaded. Thanks! --Yarnalgo (talk) 00:28, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Resolutions These are the highest resolutions and I have the rights to the photos. —Justin (koavf)TCM 00:56, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't doubt that you have the rights to the photos. I'm just letting you know that the way you have it now, these images could be deleted. If you are not the author of the photos then you need to provide proof that the author gave you the rights to the photos. Otherwise, they could be deleted. --Yarnalgo (talk) 01:25, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Rights review They were reviewed by an accredited reporter at Wikinews, so I can post that info from there. —Justin (koavf)TCM 01:29, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Commons is not Wikinews. Permission has to be verified on Commons through the OTRS system. Whatever you sent to Blood Red Sandman that made him content with the copyright status, could you send it also to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org? --Yarnalgo (talk) 03:03, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ticketing I'm confused as to why my uploads aren't trusted here. Why would this be any different than if I claimed to have taken a photo myself and then don't have any proof outside of my word? —Justin (koavf)TCM 05:17, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you claim that you are the author then you are liable for any possible copyright violations that arise if you turn out to not be the author. But as soon as you say that someone else took the photo, then Commons is responsible for confirming that the photo really is released under the license you say it is. Again, I don't doubt that you secured the rights to these photos before uploading them, and I think they are very valuable to both the Wikinews article and the Wikipedia article on the fire. But the way it is on the image description pages right now, simply saying they came from an "anonymous source" with no proof of permission, is grounds for them to be deleted. I don't want these images deleted, which is why I hope you can forward along whatever you sent to Blood Red Sandman to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. --Yarnalgo (talk) 21:15, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies and thanks Looking over my messages, it seems like I was rude to you and impatient. You are being helpful and I was brusque. Please forgive me for being inappropriate. I have forwarded your concerns to the above-mentioned user and asked him to give confirmation. Thanks. —Justin (koavf)TCM 23:26, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
