Regarding File:Starlink_SpaceX_1584_satellites_72_Planes_22each.png[edit]

Hello,

thanks for the illustration. Could you change it so that it shows the 1584 satellites and not just the planes they are on? --Neuhaus (talk) 11:30, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Neuhaus, I am not the original author of the image (all I did was crop it). I have posted on the talk page of the original author, Lamid58, for you with your request. --Yarnalgo (talk) 03:29, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying this. You may delete this discussion. --Neuhaus (talk) 09:39, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding File:Abang Johari 2018.jpg[edit]

Hello. I would like to ask you about this file copyright. https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Abang_Johari_2018.jpg My questions is: 1. Is it true that this file is a copyright violation? Why? 2. Why it is a copyright violation although it is US government work from Flickr? Anne4321 (talk) 22:18, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anne, it looks like that image was posted to a US embassy Flickr account. Despite being marked as "all rights reserved", this likely falls under {{PD-USGov}} as the work of a United States federal government employee like you are suggesting, however I am not sure if that applies to US embassy employees or not. The safest way to handle this case would probably be to open a regular deletion request like it says in the message on the file page and your talk page. That way others can weigh in and help determine if this is actually a public domain image or not. --Yarnalgo (talk) 23:38, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pay attention to copyright
File:Yutu-2.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.

  • This file is a copyright violation for the following reason: While image may be hosted on the IAU website, doing so does not confer their own licensing. Image remains copyright CNSA.
Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
