Hi, how do you know that the uploader is the author? What did the original image page tell about it? The picture does not really look like an "own work" to me. I have left a message to the uploader on en:WP. --Eusebius (talk) 21:38, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Educattion[edit]

Don't scream, this not accept here, all the images if a problem, is a problem from bot, look this: [1], see? 200? Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton (talk) 06:29, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You marked this as a copyvio... do you actually see an image there? Rocket000(talk) 12:49, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I'm not exactly sure what the procedure is for empty images. The image in the source link is All Rights Reserved so I though I should just mark it as copyvio. --Yarnalgo (talk) 21:54, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I was just wondering if the image went missing after upload or if it was never correctly uploaded in the first place. You should probably only use Copyvio for actual copyvios. For empty images, you can tag them with Empty file. Rocket000(talk) 22:15, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, sounds good. Thanks --Yarnalgo (talk) 22:16, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for now commons[edit]

Thanks for helping me with it,but we have a problem version there was update to add Spain what should we do with it upload here again?Yousaf465 (talk)

It seems like you already figured it out and you did it correctly. --Yarnalgo (talk) 20:12, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I did,but you deservers a smile for helping me with it.Does twinkle works here.Yousaf465 (talk)
Apparently its in "beta". Check it out here. And no problem, glad to help. --Yarnalgo (talk) 06:11, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have added it,but doesn't seems to work can you send me a screen shot how does it look like here?Yousaf465 (talk)
Following is for testing only.I can only see this feature of twinkle working here.Yousaf465 (talk)
I actually haven't used it on Commons so I don't know. Try asking Kanonkas for help since he is the main contributer to the script. I wish I could help you more but I don't really know anything about it. --Yarnalgo (talk) 06:24, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr backlog[edit]

Dear trusted Yarnalgo,

 • If you have some free time, please try to mark some of the images in the 'flickr review needed' backlog Flickrbot seems to be marking only a few images today....and already there are 100+ images in the backlog. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 06:40, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AWB[edit]

Hi Yarnalgo. Per your request at Commons talk:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage, I have added you to the list of users authorised to use AWB on Commons. Sorry it took so long for someone to approve your request. WJBscribe (talk) 20:03, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Thanks! --Yarnalgo (talk) 23:45, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

These are the archival, lossless versions of the equivalent JPGs. File:Hiroshige II - Kishu kumano iwatake tori - Shokoku meisho hyakkei uncropped.jpg and File:Hiroshige II - Kishu kumano iwatake tori - Shokoku meisho hyakkei.jpg They don't need to display, they simply need to be full-size in a lossless format so that they can be edited. Scaling them down ruins the entire point of having a lossless version in the first place. Adam Cuerden (talk) 18:02, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thats fine I guess (39 megapixels, really?). --Yarnalgo (talk) 18:37, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if someone wanted to make a poster of it, that's the size they'd want. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 19:46, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bollywoodblog[edit]

Hi Yarnalgo, i noticed your edit on one of the images, I would not create a custom tag for bollywoodblog, something is not ok with their images according to w:en:Template:Bollywoodblog. Seems like the OTRS is for the three images we have and no more. --Martin H. (talk) 14:43, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay then that's fine. But do use OTRS because then it gets sorted correctly. --Yarnalgo (talk) 21:47, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fotothek categorization[edit]

Hi Yarnalgo, i noticed you working on Fotothek categories and images. At Commons talk:Deutsche Fotothek#Getting the images categorized you'll find a tool to easily categorize lot's of images. I could use some help with User:Multichill/Fotothek mill categories. Multichill (talk) 07:45, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'll try and help. What exactly needs to be done on that page? Also, when you are categorizing the mills and/or making new building categories for the mills can you try and fit the pictures into en:List of windmills in Germany? Most (if not all) will fit into en:List of windmills in Brandenburg or en:List of windmills in Saxony. I've done a lot already but there is still a lot without pictures. Thanks --Yarnalgo (talk) 22:38, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Bot's are running at the moment, but most of the categories aren't created yet. You could help with creating the categories. Multichill (talk) 18:50, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, will do. --Yarnalgo (talk) 22:20, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Images are categorized, categories were created. Now the categories have to be place in the right place in our category tree (mill category & location category). Multichill (talk) 09:12, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for keeping me updated. I haven't had that much free time this week, but I'll be able to start helping again next week. --Yarnalgo (talk) 05:58, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Flick review needed backlog[edit]

Dear Yarnalgo,

Don't you mark some of these images in this category as a trusted user: [2] I can tell you that some of the images have been unmarked for 3-4 days now. It is indeed strange that no one marks some of them. Regards from Canada, --Leoboudv (talk) 01:25, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

screenshot vs. own work[edit]

Hello! You noted in this file that "taking the screenshot does not make it your own work". Let me kindly disagree here: it was not a screenshot, it does not show the program, its GUI or even illustrate it, doesn't even contain the screen per se.

The content was created by me, and I don't belive the scales of the graph could be considered "screenshot" since then any graph made with a spreadsheet would be a "screenshot" in your terminology. I let in the left sidebar only to show the scale and the resolution, but it is not required for the picture.

Moreover I yet to find a definition of "screenshot", since I believe this is not one; your help pointing to a definition would be appreciated.

All in all, I disagree with your categorisation, since I state that the image contains the display of my own work (similar to the case when someone draws a mathematical function in, say, gnuplot), but I do not want to start an edit war. Would you please reconsider your change? Thank you. --grin 09:13, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, reverted. --Yarnalgo (talk) 18:48, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, whether or not you created the content, the software is still what generated it (unless you drew the graph and added the scales around it) so the the image requires the software's license. --Yarnalgo (talk) 00:06, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Accepted. :-) Thank you for your time to make it perfect. --grin 09:29, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for your fix on my upload. Can you explain what exactly that you did to fix them. Cause I have a couple other graphics uploaded to commons having the same problem. Here they are : here and here.

Thanks! Bluearth (talk) 01:11, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia has problems with text in svgs so I had to convert the text to path. (I had already fixed those files before I saw this :-)). Sorry for the late response, I've been out of town. --Yarnalgo (talk) 18:32, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not what you meant...[edit]

...but your script: User:Yarnalgo/Flickrreview.js is showing up under Category:Copyright_violations. Regards. Lycaon (talk) 07:47, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Kwj2772 fixed it for me. --Yarnalgo (talk) 18:00, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted you to be aware that I added a second image to this DR after you voted. Thanks --Captain-tucker (talk) 19:14, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've uploaded source information and author name for this file. Can you please double-check if I've done everything correctly? Thanks -- Contributingfactor (talk) 06:38, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You have but the image on Flickr is licensed under cc-by-nc-sa which is incompatible with Commons so it will be deleted. --Yarnalgo (talk) 06:47, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Marco Polo's Journey svg urgently needed[edit]

Could u please help on this? Commons:Graphic_Lab_School/Images_to_improve#Marco_Polo.27s_Journey. Really really need your help.--Diaa abdelmoneim (talk) 20:23, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:StNicholasGrainsby.jpg[edit]

Thank you for catching my error on that image. Due to my own carelessness, I had picked the wrong license even though I had uploaded from geograph.org. When I realized my mistake, I uploaded a second time and created a second file, File:StNicholasGrainsby1.jpg. Regards, MarmadukePercy (talk) 00:15, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Quick request[edit]

Could you cut off the white border from File:Selma Reformed Presbyterian Church.jpg? I ask here because it's such a simple task, but I'd rather not wait until someone gets around to cleaning out the remove-border category days from now: the white area is so large that the image is essentially useless at the moment. Thanks for this, and thanks for the castles montage as well! Nyttend (talk) 13:19, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In case you wonder, I'm making requests rather than doing it myself because the only graphics editing program I have is Microsoft Paint. Nyttend (talk) 13:24, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done but why don't you check out Commons:Software for free (but powerful) image software. Also, for simple crops you can use User:Cropbot which doesn't even require you to download it to your computer. --Yarnalgo (talk) 16:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

move file[edit]

The file is File:Uchile_official.svg. I need it moved to File:Uchile.svg.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Presi (talk • contribs) 13:57, July 12, 2009 (UTC)

I'm renaming both the png and svg versions to "Coat of arms of the University of Chile" which I think is a much more descriptive name than "Uchile" which doesn't really tell you what the file is. Also remember to sign your posts on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). --Yarnalgo (talk) 02:15, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why not migrate template?[edit]

Why not migrate the template [3]? GFDL? + before November 1, 2008 should = migration? --MGA73 (talk) 17:15, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, that's fine. --Yarnalgo (talk) 04:41, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Yarnalgo!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

File:Badge of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
