Translate to Spanish[edit]

Hi! Here are a list of some things I've noticed that need translations from English to Spanish. This is from a private list I made and it has been awhile since I actually looked at the links, so they might have had translations. If I recall correctly, these were some of the easiest things that needed to be translate. If you don't get to do them all, that's okay. Thanks for all your work!

Blocked[edit]

You were blocked becuase

 • You were sockpuppeting (this account and User:LoveModernTallking) to evade block as Diegogrez.
 • You also were uploading images with false claims, with bogus credits and using false justifications (chilean law 17336 nowhere states gov works fall into PD) and webpage you give as source gives a clear (C) notice . -- Drini 23:27, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason: "Please look at my rationale at en:User talk:Diego Grez. Also, I've sent the permission to Drini to use Pichilemu.cl images. My apologies about uploading copyrighted content earlier with User:Diegogrez. Thank you."
Decline reason: "With this kind of history I'm not convinced about anything you claim. I'd suggest you slow down and think about what you're doing and how it affects others, rather than trying to rush. --O (висчвын) 03:19, 07 January 2010 (GMT)"

As I posted yesterday on meta:

For the record.
He uploaded images from pichilemu.cl, which clearly states © Ilustre Municipalidad de Pichilemu 2008.
I asked him to justify the PD tag and he said that under Chilean law , Goverment works fall into PD.
I asked him which article on the law mentioned it and he replied "I don't even remember, you go read it"
I went to check the law and there was no trace of such statement.
When I confronted him he said "ok, but on such website, only text is copyrighted, not images".
Again, I asked him for proof and he answered "I will ask tomorrow for a confirmation".
Therefore, he's been uploading files under false license claims. Given he's sockpuppeting and evading a block given for uploading copyvios, I proceeded to delete the image.
He may get a permission if he asks tomorrow, but the 'fact is that he uploaded without permission, lied about the justification, lied again when confronted and besides evading a block for copyvios. es:Drini 02:00, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reasons for this block are not the same as enwiki ones, so the rationale arguing unblock there won't apply here. -- Drini 16:23, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See also

Again, he was blocked more than a year ago due to issues like this. He's using sockpuppets to avoid block [checkuser proved] and yet he continues uploading with false claims and copyvios (and when confronted his answer after getting cornered is "I will get permission").

-- Drini 16:45, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Today he sent me an email claiming http://pastebin.com/pastebin.php?dl=f462413e5 is a proof that he got a PD release that allowed him to upload. Given the trail of false claims, I wouldn't put much weigh on a pastebin for enough proof. -- Drini 17:39, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, even if you get the permission /now/ you were still using a sockpuppet to upload files with false license claims. -- Drini 19:01, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just want to go in the right way. This sockpuppet was used to upload fair images of my own. I know I uploaded images from a fan website, and they got deleted, but the most (or all) of the images I uploaded are completely mine, and their copyright belongs to me. I published them here in a way to be useful. I know I previously uploaded copyvios in my old account, but I was too young and my actions were sometimes stupid, and I deserve a second opportunity. --MisterWiki (talk) 19:21, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

all the images I deleted and linked ABOVE the gallery were copyvios. I asked you to explain yesterday and you instead talked rudely and lied.
The others (your personals) I know you own the copyright, but I believe many of them are out of Project Scope.
And there's still the issue of avoiding your block with a sockpuppet. -- Drini 19:33, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't uploaded this image http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Roberto_Matta.jpg&action=edit&redlink=1 , and http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:MisterWiki%27s_studios.JPG&action=edit&redlink=1 is a derivative work, not a copyvio. --MisterWiki (talk) 19:36, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I don't want my old accounts back. I just want to continue with this one. I don't want to cause problems anymore. You can do it, and I know you can watch the things I do meanwhile. Thanks. --MisterWiki (talk) 19:37, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I fxed the log. You didn't upload the Matta one therefore it's not listed on the urls above. But it's still a copyvio so I deleted it.
I deleted the Studios one since you didn't credit autorship but if you can help me finding it, I will restore it. -- Drini 19:53, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Test edit[edit]

Testing for IRC. --MisterWiki (talk) 19:09, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocking[edit]

I have talked with Drini, and I think the following agreement amply deals with the issues:

 1. . You need to upload only things that clearly have good licences: Either you took them yourself, or the website releases them in no uncertain terms (or you've run them by Commons talk:Licensing and got the go ahead). This restriction lasts 3 months, though I'd suggest to any other admins that, barring egregious behaviour related to this, a reasonable number of warnings should be given before any blocks.

There are also two bits of advice:

 1. . Try to keep to encyclopedic or newsworthy images. This is subjective, of course, but be reasonable.
 2. . While the whole point of Commons is to allow usage in many wikis, make sure that your image is really useful before spreading it widely. Using COM:VIC would be an excellent way to judge how useful images you want to spread about are, before getting carried away.

If you agree to this, or wish to discuss modifications, reply here =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 23:30, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I accept them completely. --Diego Grez (talk) 23:33, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Then you are unblocked. So far as I'm aware, you aren't involved at all with historic media - and that's a copyright minefield, so a little caution is best there until you're fairly experienced - so I haven't added an exception there. If you do go there, I'll happily help out with copyright advice. In any case, remember: When in doubt, ask first =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 23:35, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, just to be clear, I'm happy for the restrictions to be loosened or even removed early in light of good upload behaviour and suggestions at Commons talk:Licensing by you. This sort of thing is meant to help you get back in without any further problems; if you want it re-reviewed in the light of your work here, I'm happy for me or another admin to do so. =) Give it a month first, though; need a decent sample to review =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 23:52, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The site http://www.maps-for-free.com/ offers Maps view (not free), Satellite view (not free), Terrain view (not free), Relief view (free, GFDL), OSM (free, Open Street map). You can use the Relief view with all layers except the labeling and the contour layer. You can not use the map, satellite or terrain view. Feel free to remove this note once you read it. Welcome, Dear Patroller ![edit]

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi Diego Grez !

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller ! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As might know already, the patrolling functionality has been enabled for all edits, no longer just for page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edit made by anonymous users on Commons.

We could use you help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by checking an Anonymous edits checklist and patrol a day-part. There is a short video tutorial which addresses some things you may not know.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage, my talkpage or on IRC. –Krinkletalk 02:04, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

I've regranted Patroller rights for now. It does seem as though you are working towards resolving the issues with your accounts and the work you have done here seems ok. I would urge you to get the issue of previous accounts dealt with though. If you do not resolve the situation on Meta maybe you could cross link/redirect previous accounts where you can. This would prevent misunderstandings in the future. To me the travelling account is fine however you should cross link it so that it is obvious it is you. Hello,

I just revoked your rollback because you used it more than once in cases where it isn't allowed:

 1. http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Flag_of_Miercurea-Ciuc.gif&diff=prev&oldid=39692204 you use rollback, and after that you do a edit to make a comment. Undo with Comment should be done.
 1. http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Twinkling_Eiffel_Tower_at_Midnight_May_2008.jpg&diff=next&oldid=39400784 you rollback a deletion request without any comment.

 1. http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Pedelec.jpg&diff=prev&oldid=39678279 you rollback without checking talkpage

And I could continue.

I don't think it wise to keep your rollback, so I revoked it. Huib talk 18:40, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

@IP that's not rollback.
I rollbacked the deletion request because it was already kept before. I thought it was unnecessary, and looked like vandalism. I didn't rollbacked anything on [2], and is undo!, not rollback. ok, no problem. Next time I will post a message on the village pump asking for people to vote. That probably means I will again request a name change for this category some time in the future. Is that ok? Regards, Vincent Steenberg (talk) 19:33, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your opposition[edit]

Greetings. You didn't really provide much details in your opposition to that indef. I'm curious if you really believe that Ottava will not simply to continue to behave badly, cause disruption, and be blocked over and over again... and if so, why you believe that? I'm not trying to put the screws to you— if I come to believe my lengthening to to indefinite was not _necessary_ to prevent further bad behaviour I will gladly undo it myself. Thanks for your thoughts. --Gmaxwell (talk) 23:44, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gmaxwell, sorry for not being clear. I think Ottava gets overheated from time to time and the block should be short, in my opinion, to let him clean up his mind. Diego Grez return fire 23:53, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Have you seen any evidence of his mind clearing? I have never seen an example of him apologizing for, or saying he regretted an action which resulted in him being blocked. I don't believe that he has ever actually taken a break during a temporary block, instead temporary blocks have simply caused him to spend all his time complaining about the people who blocked him. I don't think blocks are working. --Gmaxwell (talk) 23:58, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Hi[edit]

See: http://www.macaubus.org/special.htm

File:IEs4Linux_logo.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hello, Vanished user 24kwjf10h32h!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

iTunes logos[edit]

Thanks for the heads-up about the copyright involving the iTunes logo, but being that the image in question is using for nonprofit educational purposes (I wasn't the original creator of it, by the way, I just changed the wrong "iTunes X" to the correct "iTunes 10") to show how the icons evolved over time, and so I don't feel it needs to be deleted. Besides, the current icon is already being used on the iTunes article on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ITunes_Logo.png Ramblagir (talk) 11:05, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the icon on Wikipedia, as you can see below the description is copyrighted. That means, you can't use a free license on them, and subsequently upload them to Commons. Next time, upload these icons as Fair Use on Wikipedia, not here. Diego Grez return fire 13:49, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tsunami images[edit]

Hi Diego- I am one of the editors who has repeatedly removed some of your images from the 2011 Tohoku tsunami page over the last few weeks. However today I had the pleasure of looking through your related commons gallery and I found a great image which I added to the tsunami page.

I want to explain to you a little bit of why certain of your uploaded images had such problems, and why others are very valuable additions to wp. First of all I want to to thank you because real people out in the world taking pictures with the express intent of uploading them, is exactly what wp needs more of. For whatever reason there is a certain bias against images on wp and its very important for the image editors to assert themselves when necessary. I got started with pics on WP the same way, by trying to find images that no one else was uploading or seemed to care about.

This is why I want you to keep editing and uploading, but to have a better understanding of what images meet the manual of style guidelines for use in the encyclopedia. The number one issue the first few pics you tried to add, was they were NOT UNIQUE enough- a grainy images of waves in a dark ocean, is not a good portrayal of a tsunami let alone a specific tsunami. Similarly, while the image of police on the beach was more unique, its still something that happens on a regular basis (like baywatch lol).

The GOAL of images in WP, is to add value to the text, without needing to read the caption. Again this is a goal and not what actually happens, but the motivation is the same. If you have to use a lot of words to explain how the picture is related to the page, then its probably not a good choice. The objective is to see the image and get added meaning from the VISUAL effect separate from the text. Neither of those first two images really met such a standard, and believe me your images are not the only ones that have been removed form the 2011 tsunami pages for such reasons.

However your image of boats moved into the streets to avoid the tsunami, is the pic I added back to the page, because its VERY unique and has a high degree of visual effect. You do not see a large group of boats lined up in a city street, very often if at all. You don't need much text to explain the image either. So its a much better choice in comparison to the MOS.

So please keep doing what you do, but try to find those pictures which "are worth 1000 words" to use the old cliche- find unique and striking images which add new value to the wp project. Thanks again. 66.220.113.98 18:32, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pay attention to copyright
Wikimedia Commons does not accept fair use content.

We do this because Commons is a shared media repository. Downstream wikis have different policies based on local laws. Uses that are acceptable under US law, for example, may not be acceptable in many other countries with more restrictive rules.

In addition, fair use is not compatible with our aim as a collection of freely distributable media files.

Therefore, Commons cannot legally rely on fair use provisions.

Non-free content that may be used with reference to fair use may be uploaded locally if your project allows this.

Actually you're wrong deleting this file. Everything you find in low resolution is considered "fair use". This picture is found on English Wiki. There is a question, why don't all files from all wikis transfer to commons? That way we would not need copy-paste everything. --Munjanes (talk) 20:03, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Because on Commons we don't accept fair use media. Read some policies, like Commons:Fair use. That screenshot is not allowed here. English Wikipedia has its own policies which permit that content. --Diego Grez return fire 20:05, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pay attention to copyright
File:Letelier Removido (3047396635).jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. Be polite[edit]

Please, don't be rude, saying "let's not get stupid" [4] it is against the Etiquette in Wikimedia projects. I'm not going to do anything this time, I only expect an apology from you. Best. --Warko (talk) 17:00, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Warko, you are a smart guy. You know that "let's not get stupid" does not equal "Warko is stupid". Diego Grez return fire 01:52, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Padena[edit]

Hey, I ask you a very reasonable explanation about the speedy deletion of that emblem. I didn't had time to defend the file from deletion, and you simply marked it as copyvio withouth any reliable source. I warn you that it's a very disruptive behavior by your part. You should have to nominate the file for deletion, not simply mark it as copyvio. I repeat: I wait a very reasonable explanation for your behaviour. --Sfs90 (talk) 22:09, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, cropping an image does not make you the copyright holder. I am still the copyright holder to Cretton's photo, and I decide how people should credit me. You are advised not to revert. Diego Grez return fire 23:53, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict with below) Diego, gravitas.
If you are going to warn someone, don't do it on your own talk page. I see some stuff going on here. In particular, you tagged a file for suspected copyvio. The deletion was not your decision, it was an admins. Unless there is some pattern, even if you were wrong, that's normal and not a problem. The person to request undeletion from would not be you, and your reason for your tagging "copyvio suspicion" is obvious. That doesn't mean it's right, that is a much more complicated judgment. If the user wants to know, asking politely would be in order, I'd think. However, more to the point would be asking the admin who deleted. Instead Sfs90 tells you what you should do. And instead of asking for undeletion from the admin or formally at the page for that, he re-uploaded the file.
Not good, because, for one thing, it hides the history.
He might have some grounds for thinking you are harassing him, because you have nominated about seven of his files for deletion. This is not an accusation of harassment, but that some users might take it that way.
I highly recommend you not mix issues. Responding here with regard to the revert warring on File:Jean_Philippe_Cretton_crop.jpg is a Very Bad Idea. You have been revert warring there.
So has he. Neither one of you is using the Talk page, nor specifically discussing the issue, seeking consensus, nor seeking help. And the basic issue I would put in Category:Really stupid stuff to fight over. (On both sides). Ah, I see that's a red link. No wonder so many people don't realize it, the behavior has not been categorized! It's amazing how many people risk being blocked, or actually get blocked, over these things.
So why am I warning you and not him? Because I've known you, for years, and don't want to see you blow it. It doesn't matter if you are right or not. I thought at first that this might be a naive user, re-uploading instead of requesting undeletion, not following deletion policy. He is not. He has almost 3200 edits on Commons and 36,000 edits on es.wiki; he was just blocked there for two days. He has been warned here for copyright violation here and more, including a "final warning." It looks to me like he just cast a retaliatory vote in a DR for your files. I assume he will also see this comment.
Diego, would you like me to intervene here? My goal would be to end the bickering so that both of you can be successful in whatever is legitimate. I'd rather see, if possible, you supporting each other, as you could. Otherwise, one or both of you may end up damaged. --Abd (talk) 02:40, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Why are you mixing the topics? I'm still waiting a response about your rude attitude deleting a file that isn't a copyvio. You owe me a very reasonable explanation about that. Making false accusations it's something I would not accept. And about your supposed surnames, I said all about that in the edit summary (independent of how many surnames do you have, your username is Diego Grez and that it's all I have to say; the file was uploaded by me [independent that you uploaded the original file], and I recognize that you have the rights about that, but I decide how to credit you, and I decided to credit you under your username; it's not an obligation to credit you under your two surnames [or what? do you also want to state your second name, address, your on-line "newspaper" that doesn't have 98 years, and/or anything else?]). Kind regards :) --Sfs90 (talk) 02:27, 28 March 2015 (UTC) PS: I'm waiting an apologize for your attitude towards the file of Padena emblem. Yu have to recognize that you made a mistake requesting a speedy deletion without any argument.[reply]
I'm not giving an answer to an impolite user who deliberately ignores warnings. --Diego Grez return fire 02:38, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, Diego, he did at least start to address the issues. I'm not (yet) going to, myself, address the actual issues in dispute. I could, I have opinions, but, at this point, my opinions don't matter. What would matter to me is the possibility that the two of you can find a way to cooperate, because if you don't, we all lose. I don't know anything about Sfs90, I do about you. Learning to handle and turn conflict into cooperation is a major wiki skill. Are you interested? --Abd (talk) 02:41, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If Diego Grez ignore my requests, well, that says a lot about his attitude... To Abd, I recognize that I made a mistake re-uploading the file instead of asking an undeletion request (I still don't know how to do it exactly because I never had to request an undeletion in the past). Ignoring warnings? Diego, you only undo edits and doesn't contribute to the discussion about that; I state my point right on this talk page and in the edit summaries of the cropped file. I repeat: your rude attitude doesn't contribute at all. Regards. --Sfs90 (talk) 02:51, 28 March 2015 (UTC) PS: Diego, writing edit summaries like "jaaaaaaaaaaaa" (sic), with a clear sarcastic tone, doesn't contribute to the good relations here. Think about that.[reply]
Sfs90, if you keep this up, you will be blocked. That is not a warning, because if I were ready to warn you, I would do so on your talk page. You have already done enough, such that if attention is brought to your history, it is likely to happen. I am not saying you are "wrong," and I'm sure you can be a productive contributor, and that you have been already. Diego's attitude cannot get you into trouble, only your attitude can do that. I'd like to help you. If you want help, you will need to start listening more than telling.
You were already warned about re-uploading, so this is what Diego was talking about, and he was offended by how you approached him. You have been offended, as well, perhaps. I have not concluded you are bad or wrong, though you obviously made a mistake. Now, you can sit around being offended, respond as offended, and get yourself blocked. Or you can ask for help, learn to handle conflict, learn about, for example, what to do if your file is deleted, and what I'd really like to see is for Diego to help you, since I believe he knows how. But you will have to change your attitude! Will you consider that?
Would you be more explicit about that? Please say explicitly what's the (supposed) problem with my attitude. I ask this with a very good faith. Diego made several mistakes in the past (you can see them in their history) and I see little recognition about their mistakes. That's why I see little intentions from him to have a change on his attitude. I have all the good disposition to discuss that. He offended me in several occasions in the past and I don't see any remorse by his part. I couldn't trust in Diego Grez intentions if when I said that he's making a mistake, he begins with the sarcastic and offensive comments. It's sad that he doesn't changed his attitude towards the months/years. As you said that you know him more, you should know that. Regards. --Sfs90 (talk) 04:11, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It would take me time to cover and explain your "attitude," and it's late, and this is Diego's talk page, he has not consented to further discussion here. I will start with one thing. I told you you could be blocked and you tell me about Diego's attitude. Can you see that there is a problem there? What does his attitude have to do with your behavior? So if you are blocked you can blame him? "He made me do it!" What? Believe me, I've seen this, it's not uncommon. "How could I let him insult me without responding the same way?" You have asked me to explain, so I will, on your talk page. I've also presented an opportunity to Diego here, I hope he takes it. Later. --Abd (talk) 04:21, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not going to discuss anymore. This is going to nowhere. And don't put words in my mouth; I didn't said or thought any of the things you said, especially the things you put between quotation marks. It's a pity that you are making incorrect assumptions, because my attitude was with the most of the good faiths; if that was misunderstood, my apologies. Regards. --Sfs90 (talk) 04:41, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sfs90, I put no words in your mouth. Those quotations were not of you but of a hypothetical reason for your behavior. A civil answer would be "No, that's not what I'm thinking." You have now been warned by another for edit warring (as was Diego). Above, you asked me to explain. Do you still want that? If so, ask me on my talk page. In any case, good luck. Diego, if you would like some observations from me, you may ask me on my Talk page, or email me. Good luck to you as well, but I'll tell you one secret of life: we create our good luck. --Abd (talk) 15:16, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be participating in an edit war (at File:Jean_Philippe_Cretton_crop.jpg). Users are expected to collaborate with others, and once it is known that there is a disagreement should discuss the issues on the relevant talk page rather than repeatedly undoing other users’ contributions. If necessary you can ask for more input at Commons:Dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to ask for temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing – even if you are right about the content issue.

Thanks for uploading File:Niza Catalán, presidenta del CCAA LARE 2012.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. Hi! Thanks for uploading the various Charly's School files. However, I can't find this specific image, File:Javiera Peys González.jpg, anywhere on their site. They are part of the newspaper archives, they have not been actually uploaded to the website. But if you want, I can provide the original picture via OTRS... --Diego Grez return fire 16:16, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, please do that if you could. See, I'm a license reviewer, as in Commons:License review. Apparently, from the comment above, User:LX tagged these images for license review, which means someone like me, who knows a few things about images licensed on websites, would look at them. But if they're not actually on the website, then I can't really review them. If you could mail them to OTRS, that would probably be best. Thank you for your work and contributions, and sorry for the confusion. --GRuban (talk) 20:00, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

 • As you probably know, the nomination was withdrawn, and this could have been avoided with a simple "own work" claim in the upload. I suspect that, burned in the past by prior publication, you tried to avoid that by citing a web site where your work had been used, but that's a good example of over-reaction. If it's own work, claim it as such. Simple. If it's been published before, then, and someone finds it on the web, OTRS might be necessary to verify your claim , that's all. That photo does not appear to be on the web, anywhere but here. So it would have been done, finished, with an "own work" claim, no fuss at all necessary.
 • She's beautiful, don't you think? There are other photos of her on the web, but this is, by far, the best. Congratulations on all your photos! Be proud! --Abd (talk) 14:11, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletions[edit]

Please provide reasons for suggested speedy deletions. You were in luck this time because I recognized the game, but please do not in future put "naked" speedies... you need to provide a reason and a LINK to the website where the image can be found. In this case a link to Agar.io or their website would have worked. Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 15:33, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ellin! Thought it was not necessary, since most (if not all) of the images mentioned they were taken from Agar.io in their descriptions. I'll try to mention the sources more explicitly when asking for files' deletions. Regards, --Diego Grez return fire 17:14, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The idea with a speedy "reason" is to put in the template the whole proof leaving as little as possible to the imagination of the admin and also leaving the best possible trail of evidence for the future. Should someone object to the process, it is of greatest benefit to have the most possible information. If that happens, the closing admin goes back and reads a template... the template might say something like Speedy, reason = "taken from ____.com website, page marked (c) at source". That is very clear even to someone else what the cause was without having to "restore" the file (which is a different process) to actually see/read everything that was possible to be seen when the image/file was fully visible. So you will sometimes see people say things like "Left hand side of image copied from ____ website, derivative work" or "Notice overprinting (c) _____ name lower right corner shows true source" or "Metadata says (c) by _____ photographer 2015". Yes all those are visible to anyone at the time the file/template is also visible, but once the file is removed, only the outlines remain and at that point, it is really helpful to have a slightly verbose speedy reason. Plus it helps to jog the memory of closing admins who can sometimes zap dozens or hundreds of files in short periods of time. I hope this helps!! I really appreciate your help with speedies and deletions and want you to understand the process better so it's not so totally mysterious! Thanks again.

--Amitie 10g (int:Talkpagelinktext) 17:02, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Why did you choose to move my picture to such indistinct name? Do you expect there ever will be only one picture of this building on commons? BR, -- Jakubhal 05:43, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Of course there won't, but it's better that it does away with that numbering. Also, "Pałacyk Rydla w Ostrowcu Świętokrzyskim" is far better than "Ostrowiec palacykRydla". küñall (nütramyen) 05:48, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I appreciate your thought, but don't agree that name looking better should be a reason for moving files. The rules says, Files should NOT be renamed only because the new name looks a bit better.
The dates in my files names are for the reason, to distinguish them from other pictures depicting the same object. -- Jakubhal 05:58, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It did not look just a bit better, it did change a lot from its first name. I understand your concern, however, and have changed again the name to point out the picture's date. Regards, küñall (nütramyen) 06:02, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessarily File Rename[edit]

The style of my file naming very well acccepted [example] format that contains place, date and the camera generated serial number with a neutral, informative and good looking. Very recent (File:South City Mall - Anwar Shah Road - Kolkata 2013-02-08 4473.JPG) was renamed by you! Renaming in this case is very much unjustified. I do not like to change unnecessarily file name as you did. I request to revert the file name. Thanks. -- Biswarup Ganguly (talk) 06:27, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gangulybiswarup. Perhaps the new name could do better with the date it was taken, but the serial number was unnecessary. That's why it was moved. Regards, küñall (nütramyen) 20:03, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The camera generated serial number is extremely necessary to a large photograph handler, as thousands of photographs have to manage every day for different purpose by me, it keeps my track, otherwise the effort will be messed up. Thanks. -- Biswarup Ganguly (talk) 01:34, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fotos antiguas de Valparaíso (Old Valparaíso Pictures)[edit]

Saludos.--Alexxxos (int:Talkpagelinktext) 14:49, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No lo tomes a mal. küñall (nütramyen) 15:48, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations, Dear license reviewer[edit]

Template:ImageNoteControl Hi Küñall, thanks for your request for license reviewer status. The request has been closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can now start reviewing files – please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Potential backlogs include Flickr review, Picasa review, Panoramio review, and files from other sources. You can use one of the following scripts by adding one of the lines to your common.js:

importScript('User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js'); // stable script for reviewing images from any kind of source OR
importScript('User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js'); // contains also user notification when review fails, auto blacklist-check and auto-thank you message for Flickr-reviews.

Overwriting files[edit]

"major changes need to be uploaded under a different name (but anyway,it seems the photo will be deleted)"

They don't have to. From COM:OVERWRITE:

"If another editor thinks that a change is not an improvement (even if the editor making the change thinks it minor), the change can be reverted. Once a change has been reverted, the new image should be uploaded under a new filename (unless the reverting editor explicitly or implicitly agrees to the contested change). This is true even if the change is necessary, in one editor's view, to avoid a copyright infringement: in this case, if agreement cannot be reached through discussion, the old file should be nominated for deletion."

I overwrite with major changes all the time to avoid copyright infringements. (or in this case: infringement of personal rights) I find this very much preferable to uploading a new file because it preserves the file history. If I upload a new file when it is (nearly) certain the original will be deleted, we will just be left with a new file that links to a file that no longer exists for its source. The only reason for you to revert me would be if you disagree with me that the obscured version is better than the not-obscured version. If that is not the case, you don't have to revert me.

More importantly, any services that index the picture will generally only index the current version. People (possibly off-wiki, like blogs, tabloids, etc) will likely use the current version. Uploading as a new file will be of no help, but if her face is obscured in the current version the damage could be considerably reduced. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 00:07, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your administrator status on the sco.wikipedia[edit]

Hello. A policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by community consensus in 2013. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.

You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on the wiki listed above. Since that wiki does not have its own rights review process, the global one applies.

If you want to keep your rights, you should inform the community of the wiki about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your rights, please contact the stewards at m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights.

If you wish to resign your rights, you can reply here or request removal of your rights on Meta.

If there is no response at all after approximately one month, stewards will proceed to remove your administrator and/or bureaucrat rights. In ambiguous cases, stewards will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact the stewards. Rschen7754 06:07, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message, I have left a message on the Scots Wikipedia for them to decide if they wish me to remain an administrator or not. I'm fine with whatever they decide.

Saludos --Luccnoir (int:Talkpagelinktext) 02:21, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

--Cuatro Remos (nütramyen) 02:31, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Ping Thanks for noticing. Have requested its speedy deletion. When I first uploaded these Roxana Miranda files, I saw no issues, but for sure passed on this one.

"annoying"[edit]

Hi. Was comment about me?   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 13:35, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jeff. I was not referring to you particularly, but I think some people might perceive you as annoying. I dont think you are (thats why I supported your candidacy anyway) but as I said, I did not refer to you specifically. Kind regards. --Cuatro Remos (nütramyen) 15:15, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Username[edit]

Hi, I'd rather we didn't get into a dispute over this but in short the user has privacy concerns hence their username change, I appreciate what happens on the internet stays the internet forever I completely get that ... however for the sake of their privacy we should help here,
Ofcourse the user using their real name is entirely their fault but we've all made stupid mistakes in our lives,
As I said in the edit summary if you disagree with my actions you're more than welcome to go to ANU and seek consensus,
Thanks, Regards, –Davey2010Talk 17:24, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Ping hi there. I dont really mind, but I think they should not blank their talk page, which is inappropriate. --Cuatro Remos (nütramyen) 17:42, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, As per COM:TPO (if that doesn't exist then en:WP:TPO) users are allowed to blank their talkpage - It's seen as them understanding warnings etc, That being said I do agree the discussion should be archived not deleted given it's importance. Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 17:48, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Template:Ping I too agree past threads should be archived. You can see my own archive, I am pretty embarrassed at the oldest ones... yet they are there, and they also include my real name. I'm not saying, though, their real name should be preserved, but this guy seems to be particularly embarrassed because they uploaded personal, promotional files, got caught, and then try to remove all evidence. Not fair, I think. --Cuatro Remos (nütramyen) 18:03, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Same here, I have plenty of embarrassing stuff on like 3-4 different wikimedia sites lol :), He reckons people have been trying to hack his social medias but whether that's bs is neither here or there, You could be completely right but that's not really for us to judge - If they were a troll or repeatedly blocked then I'd tell them to "jog on" to put it nicely,
Anyway before seeing your reply here I did infact archive their talkpage as did agree stuff like that should be archived not deleted, Thanks for replying and being cooperative it's very much appreciated :),
Stay safe, Take care, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:33, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
