Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Eine Verlinkung auf die Bildbeschreibungsseite oder auf eine der auf der Bildbeschreibungsseite angegebenen Lizenz-Beschreibungsseiten (ich empfehle von den vorhandenen die FAL, die ist meiner Meinung nach am unkompliziertesten) wäre noch notwendig, damit eure Leser ggf. den Lizenztext erreichen können. Hallo, wir verwenden das Foto eines Bettlers (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bettler_IMGP4637_wp.jpg) im Februar 2010 auf der Website unserer Kirchengemeinde unter www.norf-nievenheim.de zur Illustration der Monatslosung "Die Armen werden niemals ganz aus deinem Land verschwinden. Darum mache ich dir zur Pflicht: Du sollst deinem Not leidenden und armen Bruder, der in deinem Land lebt, deine Hand öffnen. (5. Kirschheide Category:Haus Kirschheide

Guten Tag, das Haus hatte doch noch den Namen von zwei Farben und war um 1840 und später von der sehr vermögenden Familie Platte aus Große Ledder bewohnt. Das sollte doch erwähnt werden. MfGKlaus J. Breidenbach (talk) 07:26, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

For CA please view Chromatic aberration. Nachträgliche Genehmigung

I do not upload anything from external sources, only own photos, scans or graphic work, and reworks/adaptions of images, that were already available at commons or de.wikipedia. A few uploads were made by request of inexperienced users. The intimate males V2 were afair made per request at de:Wikipedia:Fotowerkstatt. And be shure: I do not like at all those copies from flickr, "reviewed" by robots without critical examination. And many of them are today no more checkable, if the source is no more available. Thanks for the Personality Rights reminder

Thanks for alerting me to the fact that personality rights may be an issue with Image:Taiwan 2009 Taipei Fire Drill FRD 7249.jpg. How do I follow up on this? I do not immediately see answers to this questions on linked pages.

This image was taken by a major street during the day. The firefighters were conducting a simple drill. here is the setting. The hydraulic platform was extended from the red fire engine parked by the curb. here is another shot illustrating the setting. There were only a few firefighters involved. Standing on the same place, I turned around and took this image Image:Taiwan 2009 Taipei National Theater at Chian Kai Shek Cultural Center FRD 7256.jpg.

I believe it is necessary and does no harm to the image. In Germany there are restrictions to use photos of identifieable people. If you believe it is unnecessary, remove it. -- smial (talk) 23:33, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Schau Dir mal http://www.neatimage.com/ an, es gibt eine kostenlose Version, mit der man fast alle Funktionen testen kann. Verwendung eines deiner Bilder

Ich bin Neda aus Bulgarien und muss Bilder fuer das neue Office der Firma, wo ich arbeite, waehlen. Mir hat das Foto Bodie Island Lighthouse 2008[[1]], das du korrigiert hast, besonders gefallen und wuerde es gern im Office haengen. Ich wuerde © Smail / Wikimedia Commons / CCA-SA-3.0 & GDFL schreiben lassen. Gibt es noch etwas, das ich tun oder schreiben muss damit ich deine Rechte nicht verletze? Muss ich den Namen des ersten Authors auch schreiben?

Well, yes.... This may be a bit confusing. You could use this source and should have no problems. But artlibre claims compatibility to cc-by-sa and any other copyleft licenses, so please use the image as you wish for anything related to OSM :-) -- smial (talk) 15:36, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Ich schlage vor, statt des Verweises auf die GFDL lieber die alternativ verwendbare FAL zu verwenden. Die GFDL ist für solcherlei Verwendung eher unhandlich, ich habe die vor allem aus Kompatibilitätsgründen zu anderen GFDL-only-Projekten drin. Als Bildunterschrift würde ich „<beliebige beschreibung> (Foto: Rainer Knäpper, Lizenz: artlibre)“ vorschlagen und eine Verlinkung auf die Bildbeschreibungsseite einbauen, damit Nutzer eurer Seiten wissen, worauf sie sich einlassen, falls sie dieses oder andere Fotos, die aus der wikipedia bzw. commons stammen, weiterverwenden wollen. Bei der GFDL müßtest du bei jedem Bild einen Link auf den vollständigen Lizenztext haben, und dieser Text muß auf Deiner Seite vorgehalten werden. Bei der FAL reicht der von mir vorgeschlagene Link nach commons. Das ist keine Erbsenzählerei, sondern soll ja letztendlich der Verbreitung freier Inhalte dienen. Dazu gehört halt auch Rechtssicherheit für jeden Nachnutzer. -- smial (talk) 14:18, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Hallo Smial,

ich würde das Bild "Minolta MD f2,8-20mm.jpg" gerne in einer Mathe-Aufgabe verwenden (konkret geht's da um Bildwinkel; hier konkret um 90°-Winkel und den Thaleskreis/Konstruktion). Damit die Schüler die Aufgabe verstehen, wird vorher kurz etwas über Bildwinkel und Weitwinkelobjektive erzählt und da wäre dein Bild bestens zur "optischen Unterstützung" und Text-Auflockerung geeignet. Allerdings würde ich das "MINOLTA" im Bild rauszeichnen (müssen) - nicht erlaubt im Druck.

Wäre das ok? Schick dir gerne per pdf die Aufgabenseite zu!

Wow, bist der Wahnsinn, hättest es nicht rauszeichnen müssen, hätt ich doch selbst gemacht. Nein, kein Schulbuch, sondern ein Übungsheft für (leistungsschwächere) Schüler. Wird so eine Art Workbook für Mathe. Falls das wichtig ist: Es wird richtig gedruckt (viell. so 1000 Stck.) und vertrieben.

Studio Harcourt uploads

Hi,

According to the current discussions with the Studio Harcourt, it appears that the uploader (employee of the company) did not have the permission from the copyright holders (bosses or legal service) to upload medium-res pictures, but only low-res. This would mean that the bigger versions had never been available under a free license, et could not be kept on Commons.

Could you please refrain from reverting the user, until the situation is clarified on the OTRS side ?

The upload of the resized version (much to small, rather useless) did not mention anything of no permission or 'replace because the medium size isnt free' - Im not clairvoyance and didnt know that. I do not blame you Martin H., and if it appeared so, I apologise.
This whole thing is turning really messy. Harcout appear to have good intentions, but the way they manage things is really poor (basically, zero knowldege of how WP and Commons communities work). At the french chapter, we do our best to communicate with them and sort this whole thing out.
I agree with you: the process is completely wrong. But now, as we clearly do not want to lose these images, we try to be extra-nice and keep things in statu quo until it gets better on OTRS.
Obviously, if it does not get better soon, we'll have to nuke the images ; but that would be really disastrous in terms of PR (even if we are not the ones to blame). If possible, we would like to avoid that.

I like the image, because it shows detail and general view in one picture. Also the lighting is impressive. You shouldn't have withdrawn it from QI.

Dein QI review zu "JUNGHANS MEGA"

Hallo Smial, danke für Dein review meines Fotos mit der Funkuhr JUNGHANS MEGA. Unter Richtlinien / Auflösung heißt es, dass die lange Seite eines Bildes mindestens 1600 Pixel haben soll. Deshalb habe ich mein Foto ursprünglich auf 1.689 Bildpunkte skaliert. Jetzt habe ich eine überarbeitete Version hochgeladen, die mit 1.207×1.675 Punkten auf ein Produkt von über 2 Megapixel kommt (wie unter den englischen Richtlinien gefordert). Danke für Deinen Hinweis auf das Überschärfen, das neue Bild ist nicht nachgeschärft und mit anderem, etwas weicherem Licht aufgenommen. Ich würde mich freuen, wenn Du Dein Decline noch mal überprüfst und das neu Foto bewertest und ggf. zur Diskussion stellst. Danke und Gruß --J. Lunau (talk) 18:11, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Ich muß zugeben, mich nicht erinnern zu können, die deutschsprachige QI-Seite schon mal gelesen zu haben, von daher entschuldige ich mich, daß ich den englischen Text als Basis vorausgesetzt habe. Ich habe den deutschen Text jetzt mal an den englischen angepaßt, damit sowas hoffentlich nicht noch anderen Fotografen widerfährt. Auf der QI-Kandidatenseite habe ich freilich bei Ablehnungen von zu kleinen Bildern zuvor auch noch nie etwas von diesen 1600 Pixeln gelesen, immer nur "2 megapixels". -- smial (talk) 20:40, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Kein Grund für eine Entschuldigung - es lag ja an widersprüchlichen Angaben, die mir auch erst dadurch aufgefallen sind. Außerdem war mein Foto wirklich zu sehr geschärft. Ich freue mich immer, wenn sich jemand die Zeit nimmt und meine Fotos genau betrachtet. Nur so kann ich was lernen. Ich hoffe, dass die jetzige Version QI ist. In diesem Sinne danke noch mal! --J. Warten wir das Review ab. Ganz zufrieden bin ich noch nicht mit der neuen Version, mein Kontra ziehe ich aber zurück, weil beide Begründungen weggefallen sind. Ein pro gebe ich aber auch nicht, weil solch eine Sachaufnahme durchaus deutlich höher aufgelöst sein sollte als ein nicht wiederholbarer Schnappschuß, bei dem man gewisse Bildmängel durch Verkleinerung kaschieren kann. Falls du öfters solcherlei Bilder erstellst, versuche es mal mit weicherer, indirekter Beleuchtung. Das geht auch daheim auf dem Küchentisch mit ganz wenig Aufwand, man braucht dafür kein Fotostudio: Für den Anfang genügen ein paar weiße und schwarze Fotokartons. Hallo Smial,

darf ich Ihr Foto "Blitzbirne" (natürlich unter Angabe Ihrer Urheberschaft) für ein logopädisches PC-Programm für sprachgestörte Kinder verwenden? Thema des Programms ist die Bildung von Komposita.

Die Auflage wird erfahrungsgemäß max. einige hundert Exemplare betragen. Zur Info: Ich bin Logopäde im Ruhestand und programmiere (um nicht einzurosten) derartige Programme (www.logopinjo.de) mit großer Freude, aber leider äußerst überschaubarem Ertrag ;-)))

Private Verwendung

Hallo Smial, ich möchte gerne von den Fotos die Sie in Unna gemacht haben ein oder zwei Fotos verwenden (u.a. die Katharinenkirche). Das Foto würde ich gerne in eine private Erinnerungs-Fotoshow einbinden. Am Freitag den 25.09. habe ich mit Kollegen aus Dortmund eine Führung in Unna gemacht, habe Ihnen zeigen wollen welche Schönheiten Unna hat. Da das Wetter an diesem Tag nicht so toll war, wir waren mehr mit dem Regenschirm beschäftigt, hatte einer ein Foto am Rathausplatz gemacht. Das Foto von der Katharinenkirche würde noch zu meinen Bildern passen, da dort auch etwas dunklere Wolken zu sehen sind. Würde mich freuen, wenn Sie erlauben Ihr Foto zu benutzen. Ich bedanke mich schon mal im voraus.

Weißt du was? Du sollst recht haben. So ist das mit der Logik halt hier auf commons. Ein weltberühmtes Designstück, das vom Designer selbst nicht als Gebrauchsgegenstand, sondern als Kunstwerk beschrieben wird, und das auch gar nicht seinen vorgeblichen Anwendungszweck erfüllt, wird von den Experten hier als Gebrauchsgegenstand deklariert. Weil man das Foto halt dringend benötigt. Ein tatsächlich gebrauchsfähiger Gegenstand wird als Designstück gelöscht, weil das gerade so schön in eine Retourkutsche paßt. Nunja. Leider sind die Künstler/Designer nicht die richtige Instanz, wenn es darum geht, zu beurteilen, was Kunst ist und was nicht. Deshalb versuchen wir als Community uns daran. Und ebendiese Community hat in einem Löschantrag entschieden, dass das Bild gelöscht wird. Wenn es dir hilft: Ich bin durchaus der Ansicht, dass einige andere künstlerisch gestaltete Zitruspressen genauso gelöscht werden müssten wie diese hier. Mit Retourkutsche hat das nichts zu tun; hatte es schon beim initialen Löschantrag nicht. Ich wüsste auch gar nicht, wofür ich mich bei dir revanchieren sollte. Ich würde gerne einen Ausschnitt aus Deinem Bild file:Intel_mainboard_DX58SO_IMGP5949_wp_wp.jpg für eine Website verwenden (für Rybka, ein Schachprogramm, www.rybkachess.com). Aus den Lizenzen, unter die Du Deine Bilder gestellt hast, werde ich allerdings nicht recht schlau :) Also daß man die Graphik von der Website dann weiterverarbeitet ist mir natürlich recht (im Prinzip ist es ja fast noch das Originalbild), aber die Autorennennung ist dann doch etwas schwierig - oder muß Dein Name doch nicht genannt werden?

Schreib mir doch kurz ob es OK ist wenn ich den Ausschnitt Deines Bildes in leicht modifizierter Form ("farbverlauf" schwarz->transparent mit gimp drübergelegt) für eine kommerzielle Website verwende, ohne Angabe des Autors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DeepKling (talk • contribs) 23:20, 25. Der Sinn der freien Lizenzen wie GFDL, FAL, CC-BY, CC-BY-SA ist, den Gedanken der freien Verbreitung und Nutzbarkeit solcher Texte und Dateien zu unterstützen. Alle Lizenzen sind auch für kostenlose kommerzielle Nachnutzung frei. Genau deshalb sind meine Bilder unter diesen Lizenzen hier veröffentlicht. Bei einer Nachnutzung auf einer Website ist die Verwendung der FAL besonders einfach, da die Namens- und Lizenznennung in Verbindung mit einem Link entweder auf die Bildbeschreibungsseite hier auf commons oder direkt auf den Lizenztext ausreicht. Beides sollte nach Möglichkeit direkt am Bild erfolgen, mindestens aber auf derselben Seite aufzufinden und dem Bild eindeutig zuzuordnen sein. Jede von den angegebenen Lizenzbedingungen abweichende Nachnutzung erfordert eine gesonderte Vereinbarung, die per Mail abgesprochen werden kann. -- smial (talk) 23:14, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

ich kann es auch als "alt=" Text für das Bild nehmen, auf jeden Fall kann man dann ja sehen, daß das Bild weiterverwendet werden darf unter welcher Lizenz und woher es stammt (kurz beim Laden und danach per rechtsklick aufs Bild). Soweit ich das sehe, ist in der Free Art Lizenz die Art der Erwähnung der Quelle und Lizenz nicht definiert, lediglich daß sie erfolgen muß. Aber wie genau stellst Du Dir als Autor das denn vor? Ich selbst habe auch Bilder hier hochgeladen (http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:SolGel4.png zum Beispiel) und will, daß ich z.B. in einem Buch als Quelle genannt werde. Das ist auf einer Website allerdings dann schwierig, wenn das Bild als Designelement eingebaut wird (ein "Autor: ... Lizenz: ..." ist dann unschön). Die "kommerzielle" Website für die das Bild gedacht wäre ist auch nicht jetzt die Seite eines großen Unternehmens, an dem Projekt arbeiten zwar viele Leute mit, aber bis auf den Programmierer alle nur als Hobby (siehe http://rybkachess.com/index.php?auswahl=Rybka+team ). Ich will wirklich keinen Heckmeck machen, aber ich wehre mich gegen eine Verwässerung unserer Lizenzen, das ist alles. Wenn du es so hinbekommen kannst wie z.B. hier, ist es ok. Afaik ist das mit den commons-Export/Nachnutzungsknopf gemacht. Die GFDL kannst du da rauskürzen, die habe ich eh nur aus Kompatibilitätsgründen für GFDL-Projekte drin. Wichtig ist der möglichst unkomplizierte Zugang zum Lizenztext, Link auf die Bildbeschreibungsseite reicht mir, dort ist die FAL dann ja zu finden. Insofern ist FAL einfacher als CC-BY-xx ... -- smial (talk) 20:06, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
