Thanks a lot for helping to index the Russian Empire pictures.--Eloquence

Hi, you wrote that this is an etching. Are you quite certain it is not an engraving? Thuresson 06:53, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your answer. I assume that the german word "stich" has something to do with Kupferstich which is the same as Miedzioryt. Hence this is not an etching but an engraving. Thuresson 23:46, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice pictures! But I think this one is a duplicate.

When you mark duplicate for deletion, please give a link to the other image. Thanks, pfctdayelise (translate?) 01:43, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cancre 18:12, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Przeniosłam do St. Mary's church in Kraków (zadecydowała większa liczba trafień w googlach, czyli ta forma jest popularniejsza :-), zrobiłam też redirect (Kościół Mariacki w Krakowie). Pzdr Cancre 18:44, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nemo5576 19:27, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nemo5576 21:28, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quality images promotion[edit]

Hi, thank you for your good work on Quality images. However, I noticed that you've just moved pictures that I reviewed more than two days agor from Commons:Quality images candidates to Commons:Quality images. I think you should allow at least 2 day after the review of an image before either promote it or discard it. This is because in some cases, there is a need for consensual review. This shouldn't be too much of an issue on the images you've just promoted, but please make sure to observe this grace period next time.

But again, thank you for your very good work! CyrilB 16:00, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks for kind words. I recognize the possibility of consensual review and didn't intend to move the pictures before 2 days passed from review. According to the guidelines, grace period is 2 days (48 hours), and the last picture I moved was reviewed at 29 Sep, 13:57 by Gnangarra [2], which means that 48-hour period had passed (admittedly only less than hour, but still). Or maybe different time zones have some meaning here, what should be taken into consideration. Anyway, believe me that I wanted to do everything according to rules. Pko 17:25, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I should have given more details. Actually, it appears that you have added Image:Papilio demoleus butterfly.jpg to Commons:Quality images (this is why i originally sent you this message, as I reviewed this image today), but you haven't removed it from Commons:Quality images candidates (I suppose this is an error). I have nothing to say about the other images, and I won't bother you for 1 hour out of 48! CyrilB 18:00, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:466px-Stanisław_Kostka_Potocki_-_grobowiec.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Please help replace this outdated license[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

The images we would like you to check are:

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
 • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
 • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
 • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
 • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
 • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

Thank you.

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Quadripartite_rib_vault-scheme.png, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (:File:Quadripartite_rib_vault-scheme.png).

If you created the content yourself, enter Own as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, GFDL or Cc-zero to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Zdjecie lodowiska w Toruniu[edit]

Czesc, widzę że wykonywałeś zdjęcia w Toruniu. Czy dałbyś rade wykonać zdjęcie lodowiska w Toruniu, gdyż brakuje w commons? Znajduje się przy ul. św. Józefa 26. --Lowdown (talk) 08:56, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 • Aha, w takim razie zaszło chyba nieporozumienie.

Hello, Pko!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. odder (talk) 18:37, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Category discussion warning

Category:St._Mary's_Castle_Church has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Hi, the page image File:Massopust.jpg belongs to the Massopust 1580 category, which is all in the 1580 books category. It is also image of the the cover page of this book, so it also belongs to the 1580 book covers category. Thank you for understanding. Gampe (talk) 03:31, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

But this is not a book cover, it is a title page. Please see the relevant article. Adding files to improperly named categories creates mess and makes other files harder to find. I propose to create category Category:1580 books title pages and put the file there. Pko (talk) 10:19, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Did you not read the warning at file-description? not to use svg-translator tool? you ruined the svg-code --Mrmw (talk) 12:50, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is no need to be aggressive. I reverted the file to the previous version. Pko (talk) 20:27, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
