National Assembly Building copyright status[edit]

Hello. I tried reading parts of the Korean Wikipedia article w:ko:국회의사당 (대한민국) to determine who were the architects and when it was built. It appears to date to 1976. However, under the section "설계공모 논란", there is a curious but confusing passage claiming that the organizers of the design competition claimed the copyrights of the architects must be revoked to establish "a better national assembly building", and this infuriated several architects to the point that they withdrew from the design competition. @JWilz12345: Hi, I started doing a bit of digging since reading this message yesterday and found this newspaper article by Kyunghyang Shinmun and this one by The Hankyoreh, which confirm that the architects' copyright was not recognized by the government. There should be no issues with hosting pictures of the National Assembly Building on Commons. ✗plicit 06:07, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Explicit. Would you mind taking a look at File:Jang Jin-young, 2017.png? I believe it's the same as the non-free en:File talk:Jang Jin-young, 2017.png you deleted earlier today and that the uploader is also the same. I can't see any CC-by-3.0 license on the YouTube video's description so it appears to have been uploaded under a standard YouTube license. Can you also take a look at File:Shin Su-won, South Korean director, May 2022.png? Same uploader and it also appears to be a reupload of the non-free en:File talk:Shin Su-won, South Korean director, May 2022.png you also deleted earlier today. Once again, this appears to have been released under a standard YouTube license and not a CC license as claimed. My guess is that this uploader probably mistakenly thinks anything uploaded to YouTube is OK for Commons under a {{YouTube}} lIcense. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:25, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
File:Kwon Eunbi, 2023 KBS Entertainment Awards.png is one more that you deleted as non-free and File:Kwon Eunbi in July 2021.png is an older upload that has the same problem. @Marchjuly: Hi, the first three files you listed were speedy deleted per the author's request. Lonedirewolf appears to understand the problem and has taken steps to remedy the situation. I deleted the fourth as a copyright violation, which was not eligible for G7 as it was uploaded three years ago. Everything should be resolved now. ✗plicit 11:31, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
