Getting help

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Norden1990's unblock on en.wp[edit]

I'd like to inform you, User:JamesBWatson, that Norden1990 has not refrained from sockpuppetry on the English Wikipedia for a period of six months. His latest IP sock was active just 2 days before his unblock request.

I am talking about the IP 178.164.243.83 which belongs to the typical range 178.164.128.0/17 which was twice blocked by admin Tiptoety in the past because of Norden1990's block evasions. The IP edited on 30 June 2015 exclusively articles where Norden1900 contributed in the past. At the article József Antall‎ he added a file uploaded by himself on Wikimedia Commons. The same picture had been added on the corresponding article from the Hungarian Wikipedia by Norden1990 on 26 June.

My account was blocked for being sockpuppet of User:Jomontogeorge. But as I told You earlier this User is not known to me nor I have any link with him. I have already said this on English Wikipedia, and I don't suppose that saying it again will make more impact than last time, but I'll try once more. I believe that you probably aren't the same person as Jomontogeorge, but you are the same person as some blocked account, and unless you tell us what account that is, you are not going to be even considered for unblocking. 1. Its correct that in the post to User:Deepika o I had asked for help saying that my account was blocked by ChechUsers but, that was just done for a fun to make a friend on Wikipedia and to know how the talk page works. Also this was the post to which User:Theoder2055 responded and put me in a trap saying to You that I hold another account named Jomontogeorge. This post to Deepika o is what that had put me in such a trouble.

2. I honestly says that the account Yadhu Krishna BP 38 was not created by me. As an Administrator You have many ways to check whether the above said statement is true or false.

3. I honestly say that I had only one account named Yadhu Krishna BP at first. Also this was my first account created to introduce myself to Wikipedia. Created on 3,April 2022.

4. I honestly says that the account named Yadhu Krishna BP.html created on September 1,2022 using different IP Addresses was because of frustration and impatience. This was not done to evade any block or to abuse multiple account. Now this account is too blocked by Administrator:Yamla.

Dear Administrator:JamesBWaston I have never thought of creating other account named Yadhu Krishna BP.html but it was the circumstances here my block which forced me to create the account. First of all, I'm not an admin here, and this isn't the English Wikipedia. Let me break down the two reasons you aren't going to get unblocked, by me at least: You sockpuppeted and you were dishonest afterwards. That isn't the worst part. Second, you lack the English skills, the competency to edit, and the maturity to contribute in a positive manner. Even had you never sock'ed, your editing is a problem. You need to work on the Wiki for your native language, not the English, at least for a year or two, then you can come back and request an unblock. JBW is already taking the lead in the appeal of your case, you have already emailed him, and he doesn't need my authority to modify or remove the block, I freely grant that to him without any permission. But don't contact me here, this is a different project. Find another wiki to participate in, there are dozens here. I won't be unblocking you at enwp any time soon.
