File:Philippe Kenel.jpg

Hi Didym, I didn't realise that the file Philippe Kenel.jpg has been deleted. I haven't received the notification so I was not able to take part to the discussion. I have asked this photo to Mr Philippe Kenel himself because I was not able to find a recent picture of him. Could you let me know what I have to do to make this file valid if I upload it again? Thank you for your help --Melghazi (talk) 12:47, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

We need permission from the photographer. Also, you don't need to upload the file again, we can undelete it. --Didym (talk) 23:48, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Albanian Historian

Hello! I'd like to apologize. I was unaware of that i was picking "my own work" while uploading the pictures. I will correct them. I am new to wiki and i appreciate your response. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Albanian Historian (talk • contribs) 17:52, 05 January 2016 (UTC)

Actually, giving a source to unfree images does not make them free at all. --Didym (talk) 23:51, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Deletion of files

Why did you delete these files: Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Frederic.wang They are used to demostrate accessibilit support for MediaWiki. Can you restore them, or at least provide a copy? --Physikerwelt (talk) 19:33, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

--Didym (talk) 00:02, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

Why did you delete these files?

Commons:Deletion requests/File:Osmar Barba FC Seoul.jpg, Commons:Deletion requests/File:ParkChuyoung FCSeoul_2015.png, Commons:Deletion requests/File:KIM_Hyunsung-FC Seoul.jpg, Commons:Deletion requests/File:Mauricio Molina FC Seoul.jpg

These files are my own work. Do you have evidence that this not my own work? Why did you delete without evidence?

Please restore them.Footwiks (talk) 02:12, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

In a DR concerning copyright, you have to give evidence the files are no copyright violations, otherwise we have to assume they are. I guess we can't restore those files without OTRS. --Didym (talk) 02:18, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
How to do I give you evidence? This fie don't have any copyright violations. Please googling this image. This images not used in any press. These photos are mine.Footwiks (talk)
Fetx2002 frequently vandaled FC Seoul aricles for long time. So He did a false declaration. I don't understant wikimedia system. Why delete files without confirmation uploader?
I have a question, Can I do report user like Fetx2002 who do false declaration?
Footwiks is a liar. Footwiks uploarded someone else's copyrighted pictures. But Footwiks was lying that pictures by his. It's evidence here. 1 2 If you ask User:-revi, he will answer that.--Fetx2002 (talk) 15:09, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Hey Didym, you deleted once File:JNR public screening.jpg, see [1]. It has now been reupload under File:James Napier Robertson.jpg. Can you please check, if evereything is ok? Thanks! Queryzo (talk) 09:01, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

Queryzo (talk) 17:26, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Didym you deleted a logo: File:Corporate logo Shaping your confidence 28-08-2013 (1).JPG can you tell me how it violated coppyright? It belongs to the company VLCC. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nandv1979 (talk • contribs) 10:12, 26 February 2016‎ (UTC)

Hi you recently undeleted a lot of "Botazzi" files - see here, but left the old "no permission" in and didn't added any {{OTRS received}} or similar. Can you please complete that task. Thx. --JuTa 15:38, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

--Didym (talk) 16:04, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

File:Shrikant Bhasi-1.jpg

Hello, Greetings. I noticed that you have removed the file File:Shrikant Bhasi-1.jpg from the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrikant_Bhasi, kindly restore the same since the image belongs to the chairman of our company, and he is the absolute owner of the same. The image has been uploaded by our team after consulting Tokyogirl (Wikipedian). If there are any issues in this file, please share with us, we will provide the sufficient proof for its re establishment. Looking ahead to your co-operation.--Piyushratnu (talk) 05:21, 11 March 2016 (UTC)

This means you are not the owner of the image. We can't restore this until the owner (author) has given permission, please see COM:OTRS. --Didym (talk) 12:57, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
Dear Didym, I am an employee of Carnival Group and am responsible for online reputation management and I have declared COI on my page too. The owner of the image is our chairman and I have the permission to use his image for online reputation and to update information regarding the group on public domain. I can provide the proof of the same through telephonic confirmation, email conversation or in the format requested by you. Kindly help me by restoring it. --Piyushratnu (talk) 08:01, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
We will restore the image after handling the permission email. But at the moment, there are no tickets related to this file, which doesn't speed up the process at all. --Didym (talk) 11:04, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
I will get back after asking help from Tokyogirl79, if you can help in this, please suggest.--Piyushratnu (talk) 04:28, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

Uploading images correctly.

Apologies Didym. I was under the impression the second time that I uploaded the images I did it correctly. One of the other editors told me I could upload the files under fair use, I must have done this incorrectly. I'm not trying to get banned, I'm just trying to set up pages for a few musicians that aren't very recognized, that I enjoy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DakotallyAwesome (talk • contribs) 00:55, 17 March 2016‎ (UTC)

Commons does not accept fair use at all, but on some Wikipedias, you can upload files under fair use. As long as you don't continue uploading copyright violations, there is no reason for blocking your account. --Didym (talk) 11:15, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

--Didym (talk) 13:38, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

"unlikely to be own work"

Excuse me, but those are my own work. The only one that is not my own work, besides all the other copyrighted images, is the Whirlpool Park picture and the cancer cluster map. Please do NOT assume that files are not my own work if you can't PROVE it. I took a lot of time off my ass to take all those pictures in Clyde, Ohio and crop them to help build the encyclopedia. I would hate you guys for deleting them without even proving that they're copyrighted. Please take the tag off of Sherwood Anderson Park, Clyde Christian Church, or any others that you tagged for deletion that were not proven to be copyright infringement. If you delete them, I will just reupload them, or upload similar images taken in the same areas, because that's just unfair practice. Philmonte101 (talk) 21:43, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

If this continues, I will bring it up at Admin noticeboard. Block me from Commons for the copyright infringement if you like, but don't delete my images that I spent so much time taking. Philmonte101 (talk) 21:45, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

PS: The pictures were taken with a mobile phone and then cropped. Besides, who on earth would take a picture of a small town's center at 12:00 at night when it's dark out rather than in clear daylight and put it on the news or something? Think about these things before you do them. You've tagged all my pictures. That's not fair! You and Ellin are doing the wrong thing. Philmonte101 (talk) 21:46, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

Like I said if they seriously get deleted over some nonsense like that I'll just reupload them. Philmonte101 (talk) 21:47, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

That's not how things are handled here on Commons. If there are doubts of your authorship, you have to prove you actually are the author of your files, not me proving they are copyright violations. And please be aware that reuploading deleted content will result in a block, there is never any reason to reupload the same file again. By the way: removing the deletion requests from the file pages may also result in a block of your account. --Didym (talk) 22:10, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
I can prove it this summer when I go back to Clyde, Ohio. Until then, Commons will evilly regard them as trash. Philmonte101 (talk) 23:25, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
So please at least give me until August to prove you guys wrong. Philmonte101 (talk) 23:26, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
August? If you are lucky, you will have two weeks. --Didym (talk) 08:15, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
This is unfair. I had someone else comment on my Wikipedia talk page saying that this deletion request was unfair as well. Please take it off. It is very clear that these were taken by me because of the quality of these photos, in other words, I'm not a very good photographer, while people who are paid to do this stuff are the people copyrighting images. Philmonte101 (talk) 00:32, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
Fine, if you insist, I will take out my old phone and upload the original uncropped image if I can find it and prove that it was mine. If it's not there anymore, I'll just make another picture in July and upload it. Philmonte101 (talk) 00:36, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
If you leave a comment at the deletion requests (not here or somewhere else), the closing admin may even decide to keep the files, but speedy closing the DRs is not the proper way to handle this. --Didym (talk) 10:10, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
File:WikiconProjektrunde 2016-01-24.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Photo of Sean Young, Phd

Hi, I'm contacting you to note that I have re-added the photo of Sean Young, PhD, that was deleted from Wikimedia Commons. As the copyright holder, I have released all applicable rights. Furthermore, I had a conversation regarding the image with user LaMona (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:LaMona), which is detailed below.

>>I see that the photo of Sean Young (psychologist) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Young_%28psychologist%29) has been removed. In my last correspondence, I contested why the file had been flagged for removal, given that I am the rights holder, I assigned the proper commons rights, and took the photograph. See below for my note. Would you please let me know how the photograph may be added to the entry again -- should I simply add it to Wikimedia Commons again and reinsert the image? Moreover, is there something that must be done prevent this from happening again? Thank you.

"A few points: Yes, I am a professional photographer (http://www.lynwoodlord.com/). There's no deception involved with the Sean Young, PhD, photo, so again, I request that it not be deleted. The initial photo was removed simply to remove any indication of impropriety (even though that is also my own work; I was simply not familiar with the submission process)." Metalhorn1 (talk) 19:23, 15 March 2016 (UTC)>>

Please contact me directly if you need more information. Metalhorn1 (talk) 19:47, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

Again: please read COM:OTRS and be aware that reuploading deleted content may result in a block of your account. --Didym (talk) 21:30, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

Blocking of Mariofarneti

Hello Didym, I noticed you blocked the said user for uploading unfree material. Actually he did, but he thought it was free just because he had received verbal authorization by the friends who gave him the photographs; he is not a conscious copyvioler. I told him to tell to the legitimate owners of the photographs to issue an authorization through OTRS. I won't supersede the block you gave but please consider the idea to remove it, as the user is no longer "dangerous". -- SERGIO (aka the Blackcat) 19:55, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I don't understand italian (and Google translate isn't really helpful), but if you think the block is no longer needed, just unblock the user. --Didym (talk) 20:05, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
I didn't unblock him just in order not to override your decision Didym, I wanted to talk with you before. -- SERGIO (aka the Blackcat) 14:59, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
P.S. To be clear, is an Italian journalist also rather notorious, the last thing he wants is making a fuss :-)

Picture that was eliminated: why?

Hi! You have decided to eliminate the picture that was available here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Inf%C3%A2ncia_tecnol%C3%B3gica.JPG . This picture was part of an educational activity, in which students were asked to represent dimensions of social power. It is important from this perspective that I understand why you decided to eliminate this image: was it inappropriate? did it violate authorship rights? I really appreciate if you could share your thoughts on this. Thanks for taking the time at looking at this file. Joalpe (talk) 21:40, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

This was a recently uploaded, unused, blurry file, just a standard case for deletion because of not falling within our project scope. --Didym (talk) 23:29, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Copyright

Come devo comportarmi? Grazie. Mario Farneti — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mariofarneti (talk • contribs) 10:55, 13 April 2016‎ (UTC)

[Premessa: Didym non parla italiano, Mario].
Mario is basically writing that there are lots of photographs of Gubbio's Saint Ubaldo Day taken in the early 20th century which author is either unknown and anonymous that are now in public domain, and he wanted to know whether he can upload them here.
-- SERGIO (aka the Blackcat) 12:34, 13 April 2016 (UTC)

Frage zur Lizensierung

Hallo Didym!

Dort steht doch wörtlich The content provided by this website is protected by copyright. You are authorised to view, download, print and distribute the copyrighted content from this website subject to the following condition: Any reproduction, in full or in part, must credit Ecofys and Climate Analytics and must include a copyright notice. Wie siehst Du die Angelegenheit? Vielen Dank für Dein Feedback! --Hg6996 (talk) 11:15, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

Im Prinzip sieht das sehr nach {{Attribution}} aus, must include a copyright notice könnte aber zum Problem werden. We do not claim to own rights on images published. All images are subject to copyright by their respective owners sieht aber nicht gerade nach einer freien Lizenz aus. --Didym (talk) 11:42, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

Kannst du diese Datei also bitte wiederherstellen?

Nachtrag: Siehe Kapitel 4.2 in diesem Manual: [3] Torsch (talk) 16:12, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
--Didym (talk) 22:12, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

Why was the following file https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:St._Barnabas_High_School-Postcard.jpg&action=edit&redlink=1 deleted? As the image is not your own work and was created in 1960 (that's at least what you wrote on the file page), it is most likely still copyrighted, which means we can't use it without the permission from the copyright owner (via OTRS). --Didym (talk) 15:43, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Edwin Lee photo

I believe that File:MayorEdwinLee.jpg is in the public domain as a California state government work, as described in Template:PD-CAGov. In the United States, city governments are legally part of the state government, so a work of the City of San Francisco would count as a state government work for these purposes. The file was deleted as a copyright violation, which I believe is incorrect, and I request undeletion. Antony-22 (talk) 23:12, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Violation regarding uploading photos (File:24Lionel-Messi-1.jpg)

Hello Didym, I am very sorry for this. I really wanted Messi to be shown with a picture as he's the all-time top scorer in so many different categories. I cannot explain why others do not upload a photo of him with the proper (and well-deserved) wording about his achievements. They have pictures of less important players but they do not have one of the most important player in the history of El Clasico, Derbi Barceloni, Super Copa de Espana etc. I see this "injustice" and I can't accept it :) I understand that this is a mistake of mine.

I promise I won't do it again. My sincere apologies.

Thanks for your message.

I took de ficture myself. To save both of us a lot of work with searching and examining proof, I will upload an other file and make sure I fill out the license form right. As I dit with the 30 files u uploaded before.

This means you can delete this one. I simply can't find how to do that myself. It's about te file File:2014 Portret Nick vierkant - klein (800x800).jpg

Thanks in advance

Removing the background and converting the image to black and white doesn't help regarding copyright. You need to follow the process mentioned at COM:OTRS/nl. --Didym (talk) 15:19, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

Dear Didym,

Thanks for your answer and the link to COM:OTRS/nl. Now I understand what I have to do to get permission for publishing my work.

By the way, it's not the same picture and the edit to black and white was made before today. But you're right that I tried to bypass the OTRS-system. I uploaded more than 30 (of my own) pictures before, and I'd never a problem with permission. So I thought maybay I'm lucky again.

Thanks to your link I've send the OTRS-team an e-mail. I had my Wikimedia learning for today.

Kind Regards,

Taking a photo of a photo does not make you the copyright owner of the photo. Being several decades old also does not make this copyright free, depending on the circumstances, copyright can last more than 100 years. If you want us to keep the photo, you have to explain why you are allowed to upload this on the deletion request page (and not here). --Didym (talk) 17:45, 12 August 2016 (UTC)

About the mobile upload page

Hello, i just noticed you linked all my mobile uploaded photos to your User:Didym/Mobile upload/2016 August 13-16 page. I am curious about the purpose. If you have time then answer me. thank you. ferdous Bartalap 16:31, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

Those galleries are created by OgreBot. The bot automatically creates a gallery with all new uploads in Category:Mobile upload every day. This is for statistical purposes and to help finding copyright violations and nonsense uploads, as we used to have a lot of those uploaded via mobile. --Didym (talk) 21:35, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

If an uploader requests deletion within a few days after upload, we have a long standing practice to delete, regardless the reason. Jcb (talk) 21:20, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

I know, but in this case, the uploader only wanted us to delete the file because he thought it was broken, actually the file is not broken at all. The uploader has even withdrawn the deletion request. --Didym (talk) 21:40, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

Why did you remove the Gray commandments file. There was no discussion of it. I objected. What is your motivation? Puncinus (talk) 19:13, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

This is still copyrighted for some decades, so we can't have this file without permission from the copyright owner. Copyright violations do not need any discussion, the file actually even was eligible for speedy deletion instead of the 7 days deletion request. --Didym (talk) 19:20, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

Please reconsider your decision regarding removal of my photo

Hi, would you please reconsider your decision at https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File%3AMansurov%2C_Bahodir_January_2015.jpg&type=revision&diff=204671752&oldid=204170916&uselang=en and remove my photo from commons? I'd like my photos remain private and wouldn't want to be a subject of public scrutiny. Thank you. Bmansurov (WMF) (talk) 19:50, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

We can't delete a file that has been in use for more than a year just because the subject no longer wants it on Commons. This was obviously uploaded with your consent, so there is nothing we can do. --Didym (talk) 19:01, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Permissions on file, Charles_Coates_Walker. Anything else needed?

Guten Tag, Didym. I have reconnected the commons photo, Charles_C_Walker_Peace_Rally_Philadelphia_1965.jpg, since all permissions have been received by OTRS. I also added a note on the commons file clarifying the source. I hope that helps. OTRS has added the note: "Wikimedia has received an e-mail confirming that the copyright holder has approved publication under the terms mentioned on this page. This correspondence has been reviewed by an OTRS member and stored in our permission archive. The correspondence is available to trusted volunteers as ticket #2016052610023003."

Is this sufficient information? I am not very experienced with Wikipedia, so I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Danke sehr.

William Beadenkopf — Preceding unsigned comment added by Willbeaden667 (talk • contribs) 15:42, 01 October 2016 (UTC)

When an OTRS member adds the OTRS template with a ticket number, you can safely assume the recieved permission is sufficient. --Didym (talk) 15:53, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

Please do not delete my content.

You deleted my content without asking me me first. The undelete process is complicated and time consuming, and I do not have the time to spend hours every day arguing about my content. I am not posting extremely large amounts of information, so please divert your attention elsewhere. Thank you for understanding. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Walter.singleton (talk • contribs) 21:59, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

Commons is no place for your personal photos, so please upload those somewhere else. If you think your uploads shouldn't be deleted, you should comment on the deletion requests within the 7 days or file an undeletion request. Further reuploading will result in a block of your account. --Didym (talk) 22:07, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

Editing of the text and adding pictures

Hello, I didnt mean bad when I dellited your text. It was old and didnt have enought verification by sourses. I am a journalist and made a research on Simonova since 2910 till 2016, so there is a big amount of new information on her. To systemize it, I had to restructurize the existing text. I am a new person in Wiki, but I found good sources to verify my information. Please, dont be hurt with that, and if you can, dont return old text without need, I have put tgat all which was written by you before but just made it systemized according to new information and periodic structure. As for the photos. These are the photos I made during different Simonova 's performances in different countries of the world. They indeed belong to me, but I do not understand whatis bad about that. I have sent them to Simonova and her priducer uses them in the official website, but I am the owner of these pictures. How can I argue on deliting them, please explain me shether that is needed. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 109.245.64.71 (talk) 16:18, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

Are you referring to Татьяна Ар's uploads? As those are artworks by Kseniya Simonova, we can't keep them without her permission, see also COM:OTRS. --Didym (talk) 16:39, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
Yes, these are artwoks by Simonova which she recommended to add in an article when I talked to her. How can she give her permission, she is not in Wikipedia. Can she send you an e-mail or somehow give her permission via facebook? Please recommend me. I am very thankful to you, Didym. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Татьяна Ар (talk • contribs) 09:47, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
The process is described at COM:OTRS. --Didym (talk) 10:54, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
I have read it, thank you. The problem is that I am a foreign language person, and I am also pretty stupid in instructions... Did I get it right that Kseniya must write a letter with her permission and send it to the address mentioned in the artcle? Well, I connected her today and she did, after that she recieved the e-mail saying that she now has a number of her reference and has to wait. Did we do that all correctly? Please, I need your assistance as that is difficult for me. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Татьяна Ар (talk • contribs) 17:50, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
You are correct. By the way: we also have the instructions in Russian. --Didym (talk) 19:47, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

Why has this photograph been nominated for deletion as "unlikely to be own work"? I work for a museum, we took that picture ourselves. That's why we're using it for the Wikipedia article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PuertoCiencia (talk • contribs) 21:05, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

Files uploaded by MikeCapron

Regarding images at [[User talk:MikeCapron}} Okay, newbie here. It is my belief that all four of these images are in the public domain because the marketing materials they originated from were published in the USA with no copyright notice of any kind. I'm have a lot of difficulty figuring out how I edit the picture information to indicate that. Help appreciated. Thanks, Mike — Preceding unsigned comment added by MikeCapron (talk • contribs) 19:50, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

These images might be in the public domain, but I doubt they are. I have now converted the no permission tags to regular deletion requests, so you can comment on the deletion request pages. --Didym (talk) 22:10, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

Got some advice on this and cleaned up the permissions, using appropriate copyright templates. See if you find that satisfactory. --MikeCapron

Hi Didym,

I asked the owners of the images to send a "E-mail template for release of rights to a file" message to confirm ownership of the imaes in question. Kind regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Federico Carozzo (talk • contribs) 11:41, 02 November 2016 (UTC)

--Didym (talk) 16:06, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Kseniya Simonova photographs at Wikimedia

Dear Didym, A mounth passed since the photos I added to the article Kseniya Simonova were deleted. Unfortunately, this may still take a few weeks. Some of the permissions e-mails are still unanswered since july. --Didym (talk) 14:02, 9 November 2016 (UTC)

The pictures I uploaded were my creations. I took that picture of James, and created those covers for his books. I'm working on building him a wiki page, and I'm having trouble uploading images. Photograph of Sir Michael Dummett

My photograph of the face of Sir Michael Dummett was, for a second time, removed on May 18, 2015, as I discovered this afternoon, when I went to the Wikipedia page to look up the title of one of Sir Michael's later works. Tracing your decision I find you summarily declaring that because I own the photograph, it doesn't mean that I own the copyright.

This extreme caution might be warranted in other cases, but not in this one. In 2004, Klaus Reisinger, a Viennese designer and friend in common, was attending the annual congress of the International Playing-Card Society in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. My friend Klaus spotted me and Sir Michael in conversation, and took a lovely snapshot of us. About a month or two later, he sent the snapshot to me as a GIFT. He had no intention of publishing it--it was a snapshot and he gifted it to me. There is no copyright claimed for the photograph, and never shall be.

Mr. Reisinger is now dead, but his widow, Anna Reisinger-Rupp still lives in their home in Vienna, and I am still in contact with her. Will written permission or a written disclaimer from HER be satisfactory enough for you to let this lovely portrait of our dear friend, Sir Michael, survive? I cropped it out of a scan of the photo Klaus took of us because it was such an excellent portrait of our dear friend, and we're all DEEPLY upset that you have removed it as a memory of a man we admired hugely.

I find it extremely hard to understand this refusal to propagate an image which isn't really "owned" by anybody, except, perhaps by me, since I seriously doubt the negative of it survives, and don't even know if a PRINT of it is still to be found among Klaus's effects in his widow's home.

I think my own "donation" of the image should be adequate for you, and, if it isn't, the ONLY person left alive in the world who MIGHT, in some twisted, convoluted way, have some claim to the image as part of her husband's estate, I am QUITE sure would GLADLY give you her permission too, if only I ask her for it.

Will THAT serve to restore this image of our friend to posterity?

Picture rights

Dear Didym, the author of the wiki common Donatelli-DSCF0297.jpg (used here: https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piergiorgio_Donatelli) sent his declaration of consent to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org on Nov. 14th, and thus I wonder why the message of permission missing evidence is still there. I politely ask you to remove it, as the author has granted me (and Wikipedia/media) to publish his work. Many thanks, Qazwsx16 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qazwsx16 (talk • contribs) 08:06, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

I've removed that tag and added an OTRS pending tag instead. It may take a few weeks until the permission is processed. --Didym (talk) 22:22, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

File:PDKI.png

Hi Didym. Can you take a look at File:PDKI.png when you get some time and see if it is the same as the file deleted per Commons:Deletion requests/File:PDKI.png. It might just be that the same file name is being used for completely different files. Thanks in advance. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:16, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

The background is different, as well as the size, but the symbol is the same. --Didym (talk) 00:44, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for checking. Should the file be tagged for speedy deletion, nominated for deletion via DR, or just left as is? On English Wikipedia, there's en:WP:G4 for reuploaded files which have been previously deleted as a result of a deletion discussion, but not sure if there something similar to that on Commons. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:30, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
We also have that criterion on Commons, but the same logo (in a flag) was kept in this DR. --Didym (talk) 00:40, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
OK. No need to delete the file then. Should the licensing be changed from "own work" to something else since there are two different uploaders (at least the usernames are different) and they both could not have created the logo? Maybe {{PD-Iraq}}? It looks like the copyright might be held by this organization. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:07, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
The current licensing is obviously nonsense, but it's complicated to find the right license. This is from Iran, so {{PD-Iraq}} isn't the correct licensing template, but the lower part of that template should also apply to works from Iran (but it isn't included in {{PD-Iran}}). If we had proof this was published at least 30 years ago, we could directly apply {{PD-Iran}}. --Didym (talk) 21:35, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
Sorry about the mixing up of Iraq and Iran. The flag file was uploaded by "Iraqi man10" so for some reason that stuck in my mind. I'll try and find out more about the file by posting something on both uploader's user talk pages. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:12, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

Please do not remove Copyvio notices from images. reddogsix (talk) 05:05, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Once more, please stop removing Copyvio notices. The image is on a copyright website and therefore is a violation of international copyright laws. reddogsix (talk) 05:08, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
The source is stated, so there is no reason to tag the file as a copyvio, especially as there is already a no permisson tag. --Didym (talk) 05:12, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
Stating the source does not absolve the Copyvio. It is a Copy violation and should be deleted. Am I missing something?
The uploader may have permission to upload the file (unlikely, but not impossible), so there is no reason to tag this as a copyright vioaltion (even the source is stated), the no permission tag is sufficient. --Didym (talk) 05:21, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
Please point me to the Wikipedia guidance that specifies that. Until I see that I disagree with your assessment. Oh and really, must you talk about the consequence of edit warring in the edit description. Help me understand the Wikipedia reasoning. Show me the guideline.reddogsix (talk) 05:27, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
This is according to COM:Copyvio and our usual handling of such files (I'm handling speedy deletions for a few years now, so I should know the usual handling.) --Didym (talk) 05:36, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
OK, I read the notice you placed on the image. It clearly states your point. My sincere (and embarrassed) apologies for MY misunderstanding. reddogsix (talk) 05:38, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Comme des Garcons photos

I was using public photos that are NOT copyright. They are stock photos that every site uses. CdG releases photos of their fashion shows to the public since they use their own. They are public and are used on thousands of sites.

How is this a violation. Her page needs updates. Photo updates. I was just trying to help. The photos that are used don't properly show the designer's work at all. I used photos that are used worldwide. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RichardSaenz (talk • contribs) 17:44, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

Why did you delete this file if the result was keep it? 02:07, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

The design of the document seems to be complex enough, regardless of the comments in the DR (a DR is not a vote). --Didym (talk) 02:11, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
That's exactly the point, the design is really simple and can't be protected by copyright. If there is not consensus about the complex of the design, voting is necessary, like in this occasion, and the result of the voting was keep it. In any case, if you insist, i want a second opinion, where i have to ask for it? Is this because of this edit? You have nominated a valid category for speedy deletion, which is nonsense. (Even if some, but not all, images from that category are copyright violations.) The DR also does not make sense as it is, at least the photographs are OK, probably also some other files. --Didym (talk) 19:15, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

File deleted

Hi Didym, about the file CreationOfMeaning.jpg you deleted from Commons (as indicated on the History page), please check! The author Simone Rapisarda Casanova has sent an email to give permission for publication on wiki projects. He has followed the procedure and sent the email to permission-commons etc, all as indicated in the warning. The permission has been sent on the 20th dec around 13:40 (UTC +1). Could you please restore the file? Otherwise we'll need to upload it again... He also sent a permission for PosterA3new.jpg (just in case)
Thanks for your cooperation :) --Ven1031 (talk) 07:43, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

If the permission is valid, the file will be restored in a few days or weeks. Please do not reupload the file, this would be a reason for blocking your account. --Didym (talk) 16:57, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

May ask why, please :) ?

Hi,

I probably did not understand the concept of "This file is from my own work", because some of the QR Code I have photographed them directly from my medallions. And one QR Code does not represent any mark ? So to avoid that I make the mistake, can you, please, tell me my fault ?

Thanks.Noircc (talk) 07:27, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

1989 requested the deletion of these files for being out of our project scope, and I agree with them. Copyright on the QR codes themselves should not be a problem, I guess they are below the threshold of originality. --Didym (talk) 21:52, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. For the second part, indeed, they are no originality on QR Code :). But for the first part (project scope), can you see my "Draft copy" ? Because i am creating an article using this QR Code, so it's normal that these images are not under the scope of any project yet. Anyway thanks and sorry for boring. Noircc (talk) 23:47, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
There is actually no reason to use those QR codes in an article, just use the links directly (if required). Also, QR codes in any wikipedia are a safety issue, they might contain links to malicious sites. --Didym (talk) 01:25, 24 December 2016 (UTC)

Hi Didym you deleted a picture which is discussed in this talk User talk:Parauleira#File:Ramzi_Maqdisi_.jpg, and at first was removed because a watermark. The picture is totally allowed to be part of wikipedia. If I did something wrong during the process of uploaded it, it would be better to tell me something about before to make a deleted decision. Ordnance Factory Board's images deleted

Most of my own images that I uploaded to commons were deleted without nominating them for deletion. That was my 4 years worth of work. You cited copyright violation as the reason for deletion, but I'm the actual owner of all the images I upload. I serve in OFB and take the pictures myself. I have images of the same products and places from different angles. Let me know what do you want me to furnish to establish that all those images belong to me, I shall be happy to provide. --BharatRakshak (talk) 06:43, 24 December 2016 (UTC)

You better start replying and start clearing up the mess you have created. List ALL the files that you claim to have seen on other platforms and I shall send the original, uncropped, images from multiple angles. Do let me know where and whom to send the files. You shouldn't have deleted each and every single file of mine. This is a case of prejudice and something more sinister.--BharatRakshak (talk) 14:45, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
I already told you to contact OTRS from an official address of the sites where the images have been published before they were uploaded at Commons. --Didym (talk) 18:29, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
How can I contact from the "official address" of the sites? And what do you mean by "official address"?--BharatRakshak (talk) 18:51, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
Let's take File:.32 Nirbheek Revolver by OFB India.jpg as an axample. The file is available on thegungeek.com (and some other sites, so I am actually unable to determine the actual source). If this was the source, you should email from an address associated with thegungeek.com, otherwise with an address of the actual source. --Didym (talk) 19:03, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
That's a forum (GunGeek) and some user has uploaded the image. Now I shot these images when this revolver was launched in 2013. I'm also a member of these online defence forums, although only active sporadically (also on Wiki, I'm not a regular) and fellow members and anyone can else can download images from there and share anywhere! So how am I responsible for their actions?! I have images with me (not all at one place, since some I uploaded more than 4 years ago) so let me know how and whom to show them. I can send 15-20 images as we speak--BharatRakshak (talk) 19:11, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
If you created those images for the Ordnance Factories Board, a confirmation from an @ofb.gov.in (or whatever they use) email address would probably be sufficient. --Didym (talk) 19:29, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
I take these images for my own use, they're not even on OFB's site. The Products' section of OFB's site hasn't been updated for years. Although some of the photos we take during trials are submitted. The images I uploaded are not OFB's site and no one will ever respond to our mails as it's a govt. organisation and no one seems to care--BharatRakshak (talk) 19:36, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
@AntanO: Do you know a way to solve this problem? --Didym (talk) 02:39, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
There are some issues that uploader have to solve. 1. Some images had EXIF that not show camera details and small in size, but here you could see better size. 2. Some images were already at websites that before upload here. So, which is own work? 3. Logos are not own work unless you confirm via OTRS. Some of images could be your own work, but meanwhile it contradicts with above issues. Therefore, it is better to approach via OTRS. --AntanO 02:55, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
You are contradicting your own words and actions, MOST of my images were only on Wiki and whichever images you have found on other platforms, you will have to specify them and provide links to where they are posted since I saw you deleted images which were nowhere other than on Wiki, you went on a deletion spree and deleted each and every single image ever uploaded by me, barring 1-2 images. Most of these images were uploaded more than 4 years ago, anyone can download them and share them wherever they like. This is a very serious matter and I shall bring this up to the highest level possible since you had bad faith. You have ruined everything my 4.5 years of work in one go!This is ridiculous, how do justify your actions?! I shall provide other versions of the same product and place and the uncropped images which is impossible for anyone other than the original photographer. Some images were not taken from a digital camera and are quite old that is why they are of low resolution and have no metadata. Give me your email ID and I'm sending you the images unedited, other images that I not uploaded, uncropped, and restore every single image of mine and re-link them to their original article.--BharatRakshak (talk) 16:46, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
You ignore my points and justify from your point of view. Could you answer my two questions? 1. Before you upload the ".32 Nirbheek Revolver by OFB India.jpg", it was in websites. So, how can we find the real owner? 2. Logos are not your own work that you uploaded very long time ago. Are you the owner of logos? If so, how? I do not need more explanation, but short and sweet. --AntanO 17:48, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
You've ignored my previous reply where I have clearly stated that Nirbheek revolver was launched in 2013 and that's when I took these photographs. Gungeek is a forum where anyone can upload the image from anywhere. I'm on several defence forums myself, although not active now and. Your only argument is Nirbheek, that's it! Where have you found the other images that you deleted? And yes I have drawn the logos myself. I have the original files of them with me right now.--BharatRakshak (talk) 17:58, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

You do not get my point. Again; you have uploaded .32 Nirbheek Revolver by OFB India.jpg on 24 Dec, but the file was in website. Normally, we would guess the particular forum has ownership over the image. It is an example. Likewise, those images were online. You may created logo, but Commons prefer to get confirmation from the company as earlier Didym told you. If you are the owner for logo of Ordnance Factory Board, why did you upload under "Non-free logo" @ enwiki? --AntanO 18:17, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

You are not getting my point. Firstly, Nirbheek's image is from 2013, the user on GunGeek uploaded it in 2014, I uploaded it on Wiki in 2015 and have no idea how the user on Gungeek got it. And you cannot keep on giving the same example as an excuse to delete every image of mine. You have to specify which other image was uploaded where other than Wiki since you have deleted not just the Nirbheek's image but every image so I'm sure you have seen them somewhere before deleting them, now show me the links as the proof. OFB's logo has not been created by me, some user uploaded from Ordnance Factory Chanda (one of the ordnance factories under OFB)'s official website, I just removed removed the white background from it, hence it's not my own work and that's why it was uploaded on en.wiki rather on commons! Hope you got my point. Please provide the links at which the images were found, provide me your email, I'm sending the images right now--BharatRakshak (talk) 18:29, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

I know both of you cannot prove your point and are putting up a silly argument going on and on with the Nirbheek's example to justify deletion of each and every image! I'm asking you for your email addresses so that I can send you the images. I know you people don't want those images to be on Wiki, but let me assure you that I shall be fighting tooth and nail to get each of those images back.--BharatRakshak (talk) 20:09, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
//the user on GunGeek uploaded it in 2014, I uploaded it on Wiki in 2015// So, someone had the image and you are not solely owner of the image. But, you uploaded on Dec 23, 2016, not in 2015. I do not have your uploaded image to do reverse image search. If you have them, you can do so. I am not interested to share my email ID with you. --AntanO 05:21, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
I meant 2016, that was a typo! You have deleted the images you will have to restore them that's why I'm asking for your email. I've also repeatedly asked for person to whom I should talk to and trust me I have no interest to even to talk to a low-life like you! You've ruined everything I've done on Wiki and are unable to make a single valid point to justify your actions and showing me you attitude, who the hell do you think you are?! GIVE ME THE LINKS WHERE YOU HAVE SEEN OTHER IMAGES--BharatRakshak (talk) 07:32, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
I do not like to talk someone like you, who is not using uncivility words, and not understand the policy and scope of Commons. Otherwise, I have to report about your uncivility. Wikimedia never encourage personal criticism. --AntanO 09:22, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
If someone would have ruined everything you've done, refused to cooperate, showing attitude like " I am not interested to share my email ID with you.", cannot explain why he did so, then how would have you reacted?! Trust me, I'm being very polite considering what you ahve done to me! GIVE ME THE LINKS WHERE YOU HAVE SEEN THE IMAGES, DO NOT EVADE MY QUESTION! I WILL REPORT YOU FOR NOT PROVIDING THE PROOF AND LOCATION OF THOSE FILES. PLAGIARISM IS A SERIOUS LEGAL OFFENSE AND I SHALL PURSUE THIS CASE TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL POSSIBLE! GIVE ME THE LINKS!--BharatRakshak (talk) 12:37, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
No legal threats. I warn you for such threats. If you continue, I will report you within Wikimedia. I hate to reply to such users. --AntanO 13:45, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
By the way: if you had read COM:OTRS, you would not ask for any email addresses, but send an email instead. --Didym (talk) 14:58, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
YOU HAVE ACCUSED ME OF PLAGIARISM AND I'M ASKING YOU PROVE WHERE ARE THE IMAGES THAT YOU HAVE FOUND! YOU JUST TELL ME THE LINKS WHERE THOSE IMAGES ARE! DON'T EVADE MY ONLY QUESTION AND DIVERT THE DISCUSSION! WHERE DID YOU FIND THOSE IMAGES OTHER THAN WIKI! IF YOU FAIL TO PROVIDE THE LINKS, I'M REPORTING YOU!
@Didym I have read OTRS page, 1. it says original copyright holder do not have to send an email. 2. even if I send it says it wlil take weeks 3. If you didn't want to deal with this, why did you delete all the images straight away? You should've put them up for discussion. And I'm asking you too to show me the links where those images are at!--BharatRakshak (talk) 16:05, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
Just read that page and send an email. EOD --Didym (talk) 23:25, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

Saving content

Hi Didym

Thank you for your work. As you wrote, some of the photos have to be deleted without discussion.

But I think that some interesting content can be saved from certain pictures. For example, I could crop these two pictures and re-upload two smaller pictures just showing the clothes. Would they be suitable content for Commons? HerreraOria_P1000862.jpg File:HerreraOria_P1000869.jpg They are the official clothes of a died Spanish Cardinal.

You could upload a new version with the images cropped out (or at least most of the images cropped out) and leave a remark in the deletion request that only the old version should be deleted, that should work. --Didym (talk) 15:03, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

The first picture yes was wrongfully posted but as i agree with your decision to get rid of it you had no right to suggest my other image was copyrighted. That photograph was sent to me from my friends own photo selection to me to be posted. Sincerely Mind Your Own Business — Preceding unsigned comment added by CamHull2 (talk • contribs) 19:16, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

So the image is (as I suspected) not your own work and needs a valid permission via OTRS. --Didym (talk) 21:12, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
