Hi Botaurus, you have uploaded this file not using the right Category:Portrait of a knight by Carpaccio. When I used this cat today by removing the file from Category:Vittore Carpaccio you simply reverted, as you did already many times with other categorizations I did. This is vandalism. None of the other 4 files in Category:Portrait of a knight by Carpaccio are in other cats to prevent overcategorization.(see COM:OVERCAT)–—Oursana (talk) 08:11, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Einbildkategorien sind totaler Schwachsinn, Du reißt allest alles aus dem Zusammenhang und machst anderer Leute Arbeit zunichte. Es sind 3 Files, hast Du wohl noch nicht gesehen. Ich habe die Files immerhin so geordnet, dass man das sehen kann, was zusammen gehört. Die Kategoriebezeichnungen Cranach sind grauselig. Ein Bild wird munter mal Cranach I u II zugeordnet, deswegen musste ich hier ran, dazu später. Overcat, Wikiquette sollte Dich interessieren, oder muss es ein Admin Dir sagen, dass es nicht Dein pers. commons ist, Cranach nicht und Jawlensky nicht. Mit dem Overcat machst Du erst recht alles unübersichtlich. Vielleicht kannst Du Dich mal sachlich outen. Vandalismus durch zurücksetzen betreibst Du. Ich habe die Kategorien wieder entfernt, da die Kategorie nun endlich richtig bezeichnet ist. Commons Delinker muss noch das Seine tun.--Oursana (talk) 02:13, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Der Name Category:Paintings of Adam and Eve by Lucas Cranach the Elder ist natürlich besser als Category:Cranach's Adam and Eve. Aber wenn Du eine ersetzende Kategorie anlegst, mußt Du selbstverständlich alle zugehörigen Bilder umkategorisieren. Ansonsten kannst Du Dir das sparen. Wie oben schon gesagt, reißt Du zusammengehöhrendes auseinander. Ich weiß nicht worum es Dir hier eigendlich geht. Du machst nur Schaden. Diese Cranachkategorie gibt einen schönen Überblick über Cranachs Adam & Eva Bilder. Aber der bleibt nur gewahrt wenn auch alle Bilder in der Kategorie sind. Was hast Du überhaupt mit Lucas Cranach zu tun? Du hast dort sicher noch kein Bild hochgeladen, hast nichts sortiert, geordnet oder beschrieben. Wahrscheinlich schaust Du Dir die Bilder noch nicht mal richtig an. Und jetzt kommst Du und willst alles in angebliche Overcats stecken - also schlimmstenfalls für jedes Gemälde eine Kategorie.
Warum es eine Category:Adam and Eve by Lucas Cranach the Elder in the Národní galerie v Praze geben soll, wird wohl kaum jemand verstehen können. Das ist keine Overcat, sondern nur Dein persöhnlicher Spleen. --Botaurus (talk) 03:18, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
I came here to give a vote of support to Botaurus. Overcategorization of paintings into tiny categories is hardly ever useful, and Oursana is one who I have seen make numerous small categories (categories like "artist has two paintings in museum X" - who cares?). Therefore it is quite funny for Oursana to accuse Botaurus of overcategorization. As Botaurus says, these actions only make it harder to find a piece of art. I think I am giving up on this project - the priorities do not make sense to me, and there is no sense of community in my favorite area - arts. We could be collaborating on completing artists' catalogs and organizing them nicely, but instead people are too busy creating labyrinths like this (229 subcategories!; and most of the files are no longer in the artist's main category or anywhere useful). Hallo Botaurus, Dank für das prompte ‘renaming‘ von File:AF Vollmer Andr.19-II.jpg. Ich habe eben noch zwei weitere markiert. Auf der Category talk Seite Category talk:Adolph Friedrich Vollmer habe ich einen Vorschlag zur einheitlichen Benennung und auch Beschreibung der AFV Drucke hinterlassen.

Zu der Datei File:Adolph Friedrich Vollmer - Ufer der Elbe mit Zweimaster im Hintergrund.jpg: Du hast wahrscheinlich angenommen, dass das Museum den Druck versehentlich seitenverkehrt darstellte (was bei einer Dia-Kopie schon leicht geschehen könnte). Das ist aber nicht der Fall. Andresen schreibt dazu: „Oben links in der Ecke das Zeichen, die Jahreszahl 1826 und die No.1 in Spiegelschrift.“ Würdest du die Datei bitte wieder löschen? Du hast ja die Vollmacht. Diese Radierung ist eine wenig bemerkenswerte frühe Studie und sie ist wohl kaum wert, hier wieder herunter geladen zu werden. Andere Drucke sind da schon besser. „Wenig bemerkenswert“ ist kein Löschgrund. Mir gefällt diese Radierung übrigens sehr, besonders der kühne Schwung der Linie des Ruderbootes im Vordergrund. Alles andere ist mehr skizzenhaft dargestellt, zeigt aber die Unterelbe, wie sie damals wohl ausgesehen haben mag. Und es ist die Arbeit eines 20-jährigen, was zum Einen gewisse Unzulänglichkeiten entschuldigt und zum Anderen für die Dartstellung der Entwicklung eines Künstlers schon von gewisser Bedeutung sein könnte. Diese Radierung ist in Wirklichkeit fast eine Miniatur, was man dieser Reproduktion hier allerdings nicht ansieht. Löschen kann ich übrigens nichts, denn ich bin kein Admin. Ich habe das Bild deshalb horizontal gedreht und neu hochgeladen. In der Bildbeschreibung habe ich das mit der Spiegelschrift bequellt, um weitere "gutgemeinte" Rotationen zu verhindern. Wenn ich sowas machen soll, brauchst Du mir es nur hier auf diese Disk.seite schreiben (mit dem gewünschten Bildnamen). Ich kann auch die anderen Bilder umbenennen nach meinem oder Deinem System, wie Du willst, besonders File:Fischer auf dem Chiemsee.jpg und File:Holsteinische Landschaft zeno 044s125a.jpg, weil dort der Künstlername fehlt. Hallo Botaurus, die Radierung ‚Elbufer mit Zweimaster‘ ist jetzt gut so, beschrieben und umbenannt. Wenn Du Zeit hast, könntest Du bitte noch die beiden Dateien, die Du vorschlugst, umbenennen auf: „AF Vollmer - Fischer auf dem Chiemsee“ und „AF Vollmer - Holsteinische Landschaft“? (Grund #6)

Zwei Fragen noch: (1) Normalerweise sortieren die Dateien sich alphabetisch in der Category, aber es giebt in diesem Falle einige Ungereimtheiten, wohl auf Grund von Umbenennungen: Ist es möglich, dass File:AF Vollmer Andr.19-II.jpg direkt nach File:AF Vollmer Andr.17-IV.jpg gestellt wird, oder kann man dieses nicht beeinflussen? (2) auf Artnet / Arcadja / askart etc sind Bilder von AFV, die ich gerne größer als die winzig kleinen der Vorschau hätte. Weißt Du, wie man das machen kann? Die beiden Dateien habe ich umbenannt. Von Arcadja.com habe ich das Christie's-Bild hochgeladen. Bei Christie's habe ich es nicht gefunden, wo es eigentlich noch größer sein müste (so ca. 1300 px). Das Dorotheum-Bild habe direkt von deren Webseite hochgeladen. Bei Arcadja gibt es jetzt noch diese Graphik, die jedoch nicht größer ist, als hier verlinkt. Natürlich, durch den Druck erscheint das Motiv auf dem Abzug seitenverkehrt. Wieso allerdings in dem Falle diese Radierung File:AF Vollmer Andr.19-II.jpg der Druck kein Spiegelbild der Zeichnung File:AF Vollmer Hamburger Hafen 1840.jpg ist, die – wie ich annehme – als Vorlage diente, ist mir nicht klar. Ausser AFV hätte die Zeichnung nach dem Druck angefertigt? Kennst Du Dich mit Drucktechniken aus? Dann könntest Du mir sagen, wie ein „Gegendruck“ angefertigt wird? ich möchte gerne bei Dir ansprechen, die Dateien mit Nach- und Vornamen (in dieser Reihenfolge) des Künstlers zu bezeichnen, weil sie sich ja dann selbst sortieren. Das ist gerade in großen Kategorien sinnvoll und erspart sortkeys. Grüsse––Oursana (talk) 15:43, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Frohe Ostern, Botaurus und vielen Dank für Deine Antwort. Leider meine ich es grundsätzlich bei allen. Anlaß war Galerie Neue Meister (Dresden). Ist ja immerhin nicht schlecht sortiert, aber nach Filenamen, also Vornamen, s. Carus,CDF,Degas. Ich versuche mich mit größeren Kategorien anzufreunden. Und das geht für mich nur, wenn sie sortiert sind, weil 100 unsortierte auch die Bilder verstecken. Entsprechende Dateibezeichnungen lösen das von selbst und für immer, weil dann wohl kaum einer über sortkeys die Reihenfolge ändert. Würde mich freuen, wenn Du dem folgen könntest. Don't use duplicate

If you want it deleted, you would be better to put it through as an author request, not as {{Duplicate}}, and just sticking the tag back on the work without contacting someone will just get people pee'd off. The colouration is different, so that will be the basis of the decision. There is no easy way to see who requested deletion, without yet more clicks and waiting and it not usually being relevant, so best to utilise one of the alternate means so we look at who requested. Mich hat es gewundert, daß Du C.G.Carus in den Neue Meistern doppelt gelassen hast. Ach CDF könnte dort eine eigene Kategorie bekommen, wie bei den Hamburger Kunsthallen. Die Kategorie Category:Paintings by Carl Gustav Carus würde ich lassen. Das schönste Kategoriesystem hat user:Boo-Boo Baroo bei Winslow Homer angelegt. Er hat Paintings by Winslow Homer geleert und die Bilder in Oil-paintings und Watercolor paintings aufgeteilt. In einem anderen Kategoriestrang sind die Bilder nach Decaden sortiert und außerdem gibt es ein paar Museums Kategorien. Die Bilder von Carus jetzt in eine „Category:Oil paintings by...“ umzusortieren erscheint mir allerdings übertrieben, weil es wohl überhaupt keine anderen Typen gibt. Wenn Du mal ein richtiges Caos sehen willst, schau Dir die Kategorien von Vincent van Gogh an. Die sind mit viel Mühe angelegt worden, aber für einen uneingeweihten unüberschaubar geworden. Es ist einfacher nach Bildern zu googeln, als die Kategorien zu durchforsten. Das schlimmste ist dann jedoch noch, daß die Bilder, die in den jeweiligen Kategorien zu finden sein müßten, letztlich ganz woanders einsortiert sind. Und bei Louvre Bildern muß man manchmal vorher die Inventurnummer kennen, um sie zu finden usw. --Botaurus (talk) 17:37, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
