Can I create a category for just one person?

Hi! I'd like to create Category:Men wearing glasses in North Korea for Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un. Am I allowed to do that in case it's just one person? Thanks a lot. --LLcentury (talk) 01:35, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

@Jmabel: exactly. That Kim is the only one. LLcentury (talk) 05:20, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

@LLcentury: More Kims wear glasses too. His dad and Category:Kim Yong-nam for example.--Roy17 (talk) 10:25, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

Change File Type

Hello!

I uploaded several files in jpg format, and have since made them transparent (which has changed them to png format). How do I go about updating the images on Wikipedia? One of the files is 2018-AI-O-01_-_2018_American_Innovation_$1_Coin.jpg

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iceman0426 (talk • contribs) 16:05, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

@Iceman0426: The name that a file has on Commons includes the format of the file, so a file whose name ends .jpg must be in JPEG format. This means that you'll need to upload your new files under new names (e.g. File:2018-AI-O-01_-_2018_American_Innovation_$1_Coin.png) and then edit each Wikipedia page that they appear in to use the new name. --bjh21 (talk) 17:45, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

Re: Autopatrol given

I recently was granted autopatrolled rights for no reason by Morgankevinj. I have talked to him about why I don't accepted(see: Re: Autopatrol given), but I have seen no changes in my user page. Because he edited "twice" and make a remark about me in the edit summary, just like you see here. I am here to request to remove autopatrol rights from my user page, but no one has yet to remove it. Therefore, I need someone to help me please. I wanted to delete the edit history of Morgankevinj from my user page to eliminate the record. I don't want to leave Wikimedia.Commons until I'm sure that the issue will be handled.--Kai3952 (talk) 09:59, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

He caused me to be forced to stop all the editing for files, categories, templates on Wikimedia.Commons.--Kai3952 (talk) 10:11, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
@Kai3952: I'm completely confused. How does this "force" you to stop editing? - Jmabel ! talk 23:51, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
Because he say that he granted autopatrol rights to my account. I feel like all this is my fault. Could you tell me if I am doing SOMETHING WRONG???--Kai3952 (talk) 00:38, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
All that "autopatrol rights" means is that your edits are each considered "patrolled" immediately, instead of someone else being expected to patrol them. How does this "force" you to stop editing? - Jmabel ! talk 02:36, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
As I have explained above, when I was notified that I was got the autopatrol rights, caused me to be forced to stop the editing for 2hr 16mins.--Kai3952 (talk) 05:43, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
Ugh, not this again. As was explained to you two years ago, autopatrol means you are more trusted than the average user and that your edits don't need to be monitored as closely as those of a new user. It doesn't mean you've done anything wrong (quite the opposite), and it doesn't stop you from editing or affect your editing in any way. LX (talk, contribs) 17:53, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

Cross renaming of two images required.

Hello All,

I made a mistake by incorrectly naming the two images files below.

FRANK C. GOUDY
L. F. TWITCHELL

The image Bench and bar of Colorado - FRANK C. GOUDY.png should actually be Bench and bar of Colorado - L. F. TWITCHELL.png and vice versa.

I attempted to rename them, but was given an error message reporting the file already exists, so I think I will require an administrator to cross rename them for me. Thanks for the help and sorry for causing the problem. Sp1nd01 (talk) 10:56, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

@Jmabel: Sorry I forgot about those, they should now be correct. Sp1nd01 (talk) 16:51, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
Should now be sorted out, though it would be good to have more categories (e.g. something about these being black and white oval portraits of men, birth & death dates, where the people were from , etc.) - Jmabel ! talk 18:40, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

Manipulating categories in Android

Call me a dumb but hard as I tried, I could not work out how to see or manipulate image categories in my Android mobile phone. I can see most of the metadata, but where can I find (and manipulate) categories? Thanks Iñaki LL (talk) 16:37, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi Iñaki LL, try one of the following methods:
  • 1) Change the URL from commons.m.wikimedia.org to commons.wikimedia.org (remove the  · m )
  • 2) enable desktop site from the menu. ( 'kebab' (three vertical dots) in Google chrome)
  • 3) Click on desktop (see the bottom most point of the website).

I don't know why categories are not supported in the theme for phones, I actually noticed after reading your question. -- Eatcha (talk) 19:27, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks Eatcha, I tried your recipe removing "m" in Firefox; it redirected automatically to commons.m.wikimedia.org. All the same ticking the option Desktop worked out for me! Now I yes can see all the data. Iñaki LL (talk) 20:13, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

Using PD MacaoGov copyright for photos taken from official Macao SAR websites

Is it alright to use this license when I have a photo of something taken from the Macau Judiciary Police's official website? Ominae (talk) 01:28, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

@Ominae: Please do not do this. According to Template:PD-MacaoGov/detail, Template:PD-MacaoGov is only applicable for texts of Macau government. And there are related deletion request, in which such files were deleted, regards.廣九直通車 (talk) 10:37, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
I've seen some secretariat/agency seals that use that copyright. I'm assuming those are okay? Ominae (talk) 02:50, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
@Ominae: Better not, as Macau copyright law states explicitly that official works that are in Macau public domain refers to "texts of treaties, laws and regulations and those of reports or decisions by authorities of any kind, and translations thereof." As such seals are images, I bet they may be copyrighted by their respective agencies, even though such files are not currently being deleted or deleted, regards.廣九直通車 (talk) 04:10, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

Question regarding File uploading

Hello, I was wondering if someone could offer me some advice regarding uploading a certain file. You see, I have created an image of the 1682-1707 version of the HBC flag, and wish to upload it to Wikimedia. Though there are a few things I'm unsure about regarding the upload process...

1) I derived the image I created from two files, namely File:Hudson's Bay Company Flag.svg and File:British East India Company flag.svg. So does that mean I should list the original uploaders of both files as the Authors? Or, given that both files have had various new versions uploaded over the years by various different Users, should I put down "Various Wikimedia Users" under the Author label instead?

2) Both of the files I derived my image from are Licensed in the public domain. But here's the thing, the first file is labelled as being in the public domain "in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 100 years or less", while the second file is labelled as being in the public domain because the author released it as such. Hence I'm rather unsure exactly what License to put my image under if I do upload it.

Perhaps someone could please tell me exactly what I should do regarding the above problems?

Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 16:13, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

@Snow Lion Fenian: Assuming you are willing to release your work into the public domain:
I wouldn't concern myself that the reasons the two source files are in the public domain differ. It should suffice that you are drawing on public domain sources and placing your work in the public domain.
If you aren't willing to release your work into the public domain, it's still pretty much the same: provide an appropriate free license rather than Cc-0; of course, only your original contributions, whatever they may be, will have any claim of copyright. - Jmabel ! talk 16:31, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

Geograph image renaming

Hi,

I just transferred an image from Geograph (https://www.geograph.org.uk/) using the transfer tool, but I would like to change the name of the file to a more accurate description. Is this allowed for Geograph images, or must they always use the original Geograph name? ElshadK (talk) 20:26, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

@ElshadK: It's fine to rename them. I'd suggest leaving the Geograph image ID in the name somewhere, but that's not mandatory. This is covered by COM:FR criterion 1 (uploader request). The licence requires that we keep the title associated with the image, so don't change the Credit line template (unless the title has changed on Geograph). --bjh21 (talk) 22:44, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

public domain photo upload question

I would like to upload an image for an article (historical headshot photo of Edwin Sweetland from his time coaching at Ohio State). The image source is the 1906 Ohio State University Makio Yearbook (p. 265), and by virtue of its age would be considered to be public domain. Alternately it might be possible to link to the yearbook archive page that contains the image, but it's not easy to do as it is embedded in an archive search page and not directly linkable. Also, the archive has the entire yearbook page, instead of just the specific image I want to use. he says "Ich errichte 1 Register der noch fahrbereiten Autos". this means: he simply wants to create a list of cars that are still existing (able to drive to be more precise). He does not tell what he is going to do with the list. Are you going to post this list to Wikipedia? Maybe Wikimedia is not the best place to ask about very special cars... The question was not about pictures at all. -- Thunderbolt (talk) 10:25, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

I would like to upload my photo of a road sign which says there was a roman castle/there are castle ruins. the sign shows a picture of a few walls. but no text except title. is this allowed to upload? -- Thunderbolt (talk) 10:17, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

@Thunderbolt: Thank you for your question. Please refer to COM:CB#Road signs. Using pictures from Twitter

Hello!

I'm trying to upload a picture of an actress that has pictures everywhere on the internet. She is a cam model and that's how she makes her living. Now, I try to make a page for her on Boobpedia, with pictures from her Twitter profile and other sites that she uploads them (e.g. Sharesome). If I take a picture and upload it on wikimedia, with links to the original post, wouldn't this qualify as fair use? I hope this is the right place to ask for this :)

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aaronnnss (talk • contribs) 12:20, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

@Aaronnnss: Commons doesn't accept media that can be used only under "fair use" rules. Commons' policies requires that all media uploaded here be in the public domain or under a free licence. See Commons:Fair use and Commons:Licensing for more details. --bjh21 (talk) 13:15, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

Screenshot

I would like to know if a screenshot of this video of an interview of the psychologist Abraham Maslow filmed in 1968 is suitable for wikimedia commons, and if it is adequate, what license can I give it? Abraham Maslow and Self Actualization (1968) --Naisq (talk) 23:59, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

In the end credits, there is a (c) 1968, 2007 notice. So the copyright term is at least 95 years from 1968 (maybe even longer if the 2007 digital restoration counts as a separate work). So I don't see how we could use a screenshot here at Commons, where fair use is not allowed. De728631 (talk) 00:26, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

Hey ME&hep. This is Wikimedia Commons, which is a repository of free media for public use, and for use on the various Wikimedia sister projects, such as Wikipedia. I'm afraid that this is not the correct place to ask about medical information. Moreover, neither this nor any other Wikimedia project can offer you professional medical advise, and you should instead consider contacting a licensed physician in your area. Which one to delete?

File:A bride's lucky sixpence.jpg File:A bride's lucky sixpence2.jpg

These two photos appear visibly identical to me. The difference is that the corrupt one has EXIF and its size was bigger than 5Mb, but the uploader probably removed EXIF and its size went down to only 1.24Mb. So I think the corrupt one can be deleted. Could you please check whether they are of the same quality and the difference in size was caused by EXIF only?--Roy17 (talk) 16:48, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

EXIF does not even nearly constitute such a huge amount of data. However, the EXIF in the corrupt file is not the original EXIF either, considering it only contains stuff related to Photoshop editing instead of to the camera. --HyperGaruda (talk) 18:06, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
That's why I am puzzled. EXIF should not take up so much, but details of the two photos look the same.--Roy17 (talk) 09:40, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Photo Copyright licence

Goodmorning,

Just to be sure, if I create a new wiki page for an artist, youtuber or a model and I want to upload a photo, I had to upload it on your Commons and then make it available following new commons copyright rigths?

Thank you, Beatrice — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beatrice Sarnataro (talk • contribs) 08:39, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

The short answer is yes. Ruslik (talk) 11:19, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
Though "new commons copyright rigths" doesn't make a lot of sense. When you upload to Commons, you need to provide an appropriate license, granted by the copyright-holder of the work (whether that is you or someone else). - Jmabel ! talk 16:24, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

Putting a photo in common when owner/uploader says it free to use?

Found a photo in deviant art that has the description with the disclaimer mentioning that says that the person who uploaded it is free to use.

How should this be approached? I know some public domain copyright tags and OTRS...

Ominae (talk) 10:47, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Ominae: I'm afraid that's far too vague to be sufficient for Commons. What we need is an actual free license that clearly allows modification and commercial use. LX (talk, contribs) 13:08, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
Can it be done by OTRS? I've tried to do it with another photo from the past, but nothing worked out. Ominae (talk) 13:30, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
If the actual holder of the copyright is willing to go through the OTRS process and grant a specific free license that allows derivative works and commercial use, yes, that would work. - Jmabel ! talk 16:31, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
I’ll have to find a way to contact said person since I’m not sure if I can still log on to DA.

Actually, how easy is it to use OTRS? It was really confusing. Ominae (talk) 23:31, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

@Ominae: Just tell the author send an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org (or any language-specific addresses) according to the instructions of OTRS. Then you just need to wait until an OTRS volunteer found the ticket and deal with it, regards.廣九直通車 (talk) 00:01, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
By the way I also remember that DeviantArt also allows the author to license files under free licenses, please refer to this. YOu may want to notify the author about this?廣九直通車 (talk) 00:01, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
If the guy has photos in DA with CC 3.0 copyright permission, then sure. I’ll have to do it the OTRS way. Does this mean I upload the photo myself under OTRS? Ominae (talk) 00:28, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
Once you know the permission is being sent, yes you can upload it yourself. Remember to tag it with so that the process is given time to play out. - Jmabel ! talk 23:53, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi,

  • @Brinded1: If I understand correctly, you are saying that you'd like to do a "fair use" upload on Commons because that is allowed on the English-language Wikipedia. That doesn't work. You can upload to the English-language Wikipedia under the rules of the English-language Wikipedia (which allow certain images on a fair-use basis) or to Commons under the rules of Commons (which don't allow that, and so this image is out of bounds for Commons). Upload new file or new version?

Hey,
I have made a new version of the NATO flag from scratch. With (close to?) perfect shapes. And cleaner code than the one that's used here. Should I upload it as a separate file? Or should I upload a new version at the old page (File:Flag of NATO.svg)? I'd like to release it with , but maybe that's not even allowed. Thanks for helping me 🙂 – GeMet [talk] 15:26, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

@GeMet: you may ask at Commons:Graphics village pump whether your code is indeed an improvement to the original. If you are sure, feel free to overwrite it since it should be fine per COM:OVERWRITE.--Roy17 (talk) 16:48, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
@GeMet: COM:OVERWRITE says that you may not change licensing when overwriting. Since File:Flag of NATO.svg is PD-US-not renewed, I don't think you should overwrite it if you intend the new version to be . It's possible that your new version won't have an independent copyright anyway, depending on whether the text of an SVG file constitutes a literary work where you live. --bjh21 (talk) 17:05, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

These to images should look the same, but in my Firefox and in my Chrome the left image one has a bold font in the first two coloums and the right image doesn't. Also the right image has more spaces between the variables and the plus-signs.

I tried:

@Jeff G.: , When you try to nominate a new candidate on COM:FSC, COM:FVC or COM:FPC you are asked to "Paste the text at the top of the Featured sound candidate list (just below the comment:LIST OF NOMINATIONS)".
when you click on Commons:Featured_sound_candidates#Adding_a_new_nomination, you are redirected to this page but as it asks you copy paste the text that is in this case to Featured sound candidate list which in fact has a link to the page, but If it opens before saving the current page that troubles me, you need to copy-paste the url which is not User-Friendly. If I can get it to open in new tab that would be more user friendly IMHO. -- Eatcha (talk) 16:40, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

uploading my complete blog with public domain contents

Is there a way to upload the entire contents of my blog, https://www.arnoldtradecards.com as a whole to Wikimedia? The contents are all in the public domain. As there are well over 1,000 images on it, doing some sort of mass download would be preferable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JeffDiver (talk • contribs) 14:21, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

  • In terms of the images, I imagine it could be done on some sort of automated basis, but it looks like you really don't have much metadata about them, which means we'd end up with pretty "thin" descriptions in an automated upload. - Jmabel ! talk 16:20, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

Keep. A "zoomed" version was also published here under a CC by 4.0 licence. Note the ID number in the url: "eso1907d". Archive.org archived the YouTube page, but the video itself was not preserved. However, the link in the "More information and download options" has a corresponding ID "eso1907i". So as these two versions only differ in the frame size of the black hole simulation, the CC licence at the original YouTube upload is credible. De728631 (talk) 18:46, 18 July 2019 (UTC)

Totally confused! Wikipedia? Wikimedia? What?!

Egads! After reading so many concerns on this page (including my own), I am even more confused. I must say though, that my issue(s) may be more simple than expected.

Way back in 2012 (my last edit before 2019), I had no clue there was "Wikimedia Commons". It appears that "somehow" while wanting to edit on a Wikipedia Article page... I ended up on Wikipedia Commons?! Is that possible? And that's giving me additional copyright violations which I'm not understanding, etc?

Also, probably explains why when I search a name/article it comes up on Wikipedia (sometimes) and other times on Wikimedia and doesn't go to the correct area?

Wow... I'm very challenged by these additional "tools" or extended "sites"!?

Help please... in laymen's English/terms. Thanks! ~~Redlippedlady — Preceding unsigned comment added by Redlippedlady (talk • contribs) 01:05, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

@Redlippedlady: Hi, Redlippedlady. Here are some basics.
The overall organization that manages/supports all these sites is the Wikimedia Foundation. Some of the various sites are:
  • Wikipedia: Wikipedia is the encyclopedia and contains mostly articles. I should say that the Wikipedias are the encyclopedias, plural, because there are many Wikipedias, each in a different language.
  • Wikimedia Commons (called "Wikimedia" because of the organization name) is a repository of files: images, audio, video, and maybe others I'm not thinking of. Files on Commons are under copyright licenses that allow them to be freely used in different ways. Any file uploaded here must be under such a license. The Wikipedias can easily link to these files to use them in articles. The files can also be used outside of Wikimedia sites if the terms of the relevant license(s) are followed.
  • Wiktionary: a dictionary, also in multiple languages like the Wikipedias
  • Wikidata: a database with basic data about nearly everything under the sun; the data can be retrieved by processes used on Wikimedia sites, and is useable for non-Wikimedia purposes as well
  • Meta-Wiki: coordination for all the various Wikimedia projects
There are others: you can see them listed on the main page of any Wikimedia site.
I hope that helps. --Auntof6 (Template:IntI :Talkpagelinktext) 01:26, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

Thank you, User:Auntof6 / Auntof6. Your info at least tells me that I'm in over my head! I am just too old to deal with more stress in my life! Can you help me with starting a New page? I'll just omit any images, licensing, etc. Just can't deal with that at the moment. Thanking you again. ~~Redlippedlady — Preceding unsigned comment added by User: (talk • contribs) 03:43, 11 July 2019‎ Redlippedlady (UTC)

@Redlippedlady: I think you should start with writing a draft article at Draft:Jimmy Dale (composer) (← click the link, select "create" and just start writing). Please note that there is already an article about one Jimmy Dale (musician) (1935-2017), so I chose "Jimmy Dale (composer)" for your draft title. The advantage of the draft system at Wikipedia is that you can save and edit the page until it fits Wikipedia's requirements for notability and reliable sources, and only then will it get promoted to a live encyclopedic article. Creating a new biographical Wikipedia page directly as a live article may result in the page getting deleted because of questionable notability and bad sources for biographies of living people. That is why you would first want to write a draft version. Please be sure to also read the information on notability and biographies of living persons at Wikipedia. Once you think your page is ready for the collection of proper Wikipedia articles, please add a text string AFC submission at the very top of the page. It will then be reviewed by experienced editors. De728631 (talk) 19:17, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

Uploading an Image - licencing

Hi, Trying to upload an updated image of Prof. Dan Ariely I've received the following message. We were given a usage permission by an employee of the copyrights' owner, Mrs Sigalit Ben Hayoun of Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization, and she's willing to send you the release-of-rights email, once the Image is online. Please, do tell how we can get it online. --Asafabir (talk) 16:22, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

  • @Jmabel: Thank you. As the picture above demonstrated, the system doesn't let me upload the image to Wikimedia Commons, and thus makes it impossible to meet one term in your template email. The term is pasting a link to the "exact URL of the file uploaded on Wikimedia Commons". Since this is technically impossible due to Wiki Commons' system's message, The permission email will have to include a link to: https://www.facebook.com/TAUalumni/photos/t.704919/1179943592165007/?type=3&theater. This is despite of what your template indicates - and it's the only possibility to act according to your guidance. Thus, I trust that the link to https://www.facebook.com/TAUalumni/photos/t.704919/1179943592165007/?type=3&theater will be sufficient. If not, please notify me about the actions that need to be taken in order to successfully meet the terms of your process. Thank you. --Asafabir (talk) 18:04, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
    • @Asafabir: Instead of using the upload wizard, you can also upload the image following the steps in the lower part of this page. In the file description editor, please add the appropriate information to the templated text like this:

You may then select a free licence from the dropdown menu. Please note that Mrs Ben Hayoun should have chosen such a licence for the image before asking you to upload it. You are not in a legal position to grant a free licence for her work. I hope this helps you with your upload. Otherwise feel free to ask again. De728631 (talk) 18:39, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
De728631 is basically on the mark, but use rather than OTRS pending. - Jmabel ! talk 00:02, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
    • @De728631: @Jmabel: . Here's the thing: Mrs Ben Hayoun is waiting for me to provide her with the details (the filename and the URL path) in order to send you the permission email. But I'm not savvy with wiki-technicalities, and I'm afraid to make technical errors that will further extend this story. Is it possible to let me use the wizard and give this image a few days' grace to have all the requirements met? --Asafabir (talk) 07:27, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
@Asafabir: Yes, using the license she chose and the canonical .   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 10:39, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

Copyright question for old company logo from Singapore

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Old_CISCO_logo.jpeg

This was used from the 1980s to the early 2000s. I’m assuming that it’s (still) fair use? Ominae (talk) 00:36, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

  • Nothing about it no longer being used by the company would make it less eligible to be used on a fair use basis where that is allowed. Since that's not allowed on Commons, though, it is not relevant here.
  • As for uploading it to Commons: it's right around the threshold of originality to be eligible for copyright. It might be acceptable as PD-ineligible Trademarked, I'm really not sure; I'm particularly unsure of what Singapore's rules are about that threshold, and I see nothing about Singapore on that page. Might be better discussed at Commons:Village pump/Copyright, where there tends to be more expertise on that. - Jmabel ! talk 04:45, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
Better not upload it here. Singapore inherits British law which has very low TOO.--Roy17 (talk) 08:24, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

Though, U.S. copyright has no freedom-of-panorama exception for non-buildings, I don't see anything copyrightable in this "monument". In the current image, the inscription and the small icon/image would be de minimis, IMO. However, a close-up photo of the inscription would not be o.k. --Túrelio (talk) 15:50, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

We don't accept the public domain mark because it is not a reliable statement like a licence. The PDM just marks something as being public domain for some reason, but we always need to know why a work is not copyrighted. For US works from this era, however, there is a good chance that they are in fact public domain because they often didn't have a copyright notice which would have been required at the time. Or, if they were copyrighted, the protection term expired and was not renewed. Also, Archive.org is usually very good at spotting out-of-copyright material. What we need to determine the copyright status of these commercials is their year of first publication. So in the above samples I found this:

Clarification of the copyright status on a specific page

Hello, Wikimedia Commons!

Forgive me if this is the wrong avenue to ask this, but I recently came across an image that is listed under public domain that I would like to reuse. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Green_Chinese_dragon.PNG This page, to be specific. However, the user that released it into PD, a user named "Nyo," seems to no longer exist, and his/her userpage is rife with odd tests and other detritus in the logs. Would you be able to inform me if the "Public Domain" tag on the image is still reliable/accurate?

Ancestry

Working with my family data on Ancestry.Com/Wikipedia, I find lots data is correct, There IS a LACK of Township data for states & Canada. There is confusion if township data is deleted/renamed over time. Even direct websites do not mention townships. Data is very vital for correct location, cemeteries being one of the largest. If one has a name of a place, or township, the two are often not related to each other in the data provided. could you do to help? surfer-joe — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 2600:8800:6780:E6E0:B5BD:74E0:33C4:4AE5 (talk) 03:32, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

It looks like you might want the Help Desk on Wikipedia. However, Ancestry is its own entity and how it uses Wikipedia's data is up to them. Killiondude (talk) 03:47, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

Copyright help regarding File:3 cm flak 303 twin ubts.jpg

I found this image on multiple websites, all of them article type. This is my first time uploading images for the article I write so I am running into issues.

I cited the image to one source and stated its author - I further linked the website's rules/terms of use to the permission category. However, now the image I uploaded faces deletion due to the lack of tags/license.

I wonder where I can get the license? Will wiki moderators review permission regarding this image and issue me a license? Or do I need to apply for own license by filling out the information in a specific wiki web page?

Please give suggestions pertaining to getting a license (or perhaps checking if the permission category is filled out correctly after all).

--Nimitz Zhang (talk) 15:55, 15 July 2019 (UTC) @Nimitz Zhang: Only the holder of the copyright can grant a license. Are you saying they have granted one? If so, what license or licenses have they granted? - Jmabel ! talk 16:33, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

--Hi, they did not respond. Their website rule says that all copyright materials can be used if linked back to the source (attribute). Since there are so few copies of the image, I suspect that they very well may be the copyright holder, if not then none of the websites featuring this image is a copy right holder. --Nimitz Zhang (talk) 18:15, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

  • That's just it. It's most likely that none of the websites featuring this image is a copyright holder, and we can't find the copyright holder, so there is no way for Commons to host it under our rules, which require either public domain or overt free licensing. - Jmabel ! talk 23:10, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

Reverting +- 50 edits

Hello,

Is it possible for a moderator to revert around 50 edits of User:Kai3952? I deleted the Category:Auschwitz Museum from a lot of pictures that were obviously not made in the Auschwitz Museum, but in other places in the town where the museum is (for instance [8]). Kai reverted my edits wrongly.

Regards,

Tukka (talk) 12:14, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

@Tukka: If you are seeking administrator intervention, please place your request on COM:ANU. Make sure to notify User:Kai3952 by placing this template on the regarding user talk page, thank you.廣九直通車 (talk) 13:36, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
@Tukka: Please use edit summaries in the future, because I could not determine whether your edits were vandalism or a constructive contribution. I think, we can't just deleted the Category:Auschwitz Museum from 林高志 uploaded pictures. That could cause a problem as his pictures lose the connections to categories.--Kai3952 (talk) 13:53, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
Thank you 廣九直通車 for your explanation. Tukka (talk) 14:52, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
I think Kai and me agreed to add another category to the pictures, so the problem is solved. Tukka (talk) 15:05, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
@Tukka: We can find "Unidentified subjects in Poland" category on Wikimedia Commons. If you face this problem you can tackle it but this kind of problem should not happen. Do you know what I mean? The reason I am angry is, you accuse me that there is a problem with my edits and you want to report vandalism.--Kai3952 (talk) 18:25, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
It's not my problem that you get angry because I have a problem with your edits. If you're an adult, act like one. And I was not reporting your edits as vandalism (in fact, you where accusing me of vandalism). But let's agree to both use the edit summary from now on. Something you didn't do either sometimes. Photos from Google Maps (my own!)

Hi there, I was wondering, can I upload my photos I already uploaded on Google maps? All the photos are 100% my own, and my username here is the same as on Google. I have a bunch of photos I shot during my travels, so I'd like to share them so anybody can use them.

Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kfastic (talk • contribs) 10:48, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

@Kfastic: Yes, you can do that, but you need to do something to ensure that it's obvious you have the right to do so. Otherwise it will look like you're just passing off someone else's photos as your own. Ways to do this (starting with what I think is the best) include:
  • Label the pictures on Google Maps with precisely the same licence as you plan to use on Commons, and list Google Maps as the source when you upload the pictures. This is easy for anyone to validate, and doesn't depend on the identity of the person uploading to Commons. Ideally, flag the imported files with LicenseReview.
  • Arrange that your Google account has a statement on it somewhere that associates it with your Commons account. I don't know how you'd do this on Google, but I did something similar on Geograph Britain and Ireland by having my Geograph profile link to my home page, which in turn has a link to User:Bjh21.
  • Upload a version of each picture that couldn't possibly have come from Google. For instance, if Google has cropped or low-resolution versions, upload the camera-original file. You can always overwrite each picture with a cropped version after uploading. This approach may well not work.
  • Contact the OTRS team (preferably from an address associated with your Google account), sending them a statement that you own the copyright in the pictures and are willing to release them under a free licence. This will be slow and will consume scarce volunteer time, so please avoid it if possible.

Hey there

I would like to upload a pic to an article I am currently writing. The pic to upload is the logo which I designed for my association founded by me. Somehow I am always forbidden to upload the logo, even though I constructed it and I own it... How can I circumvent this?

Best & thanks, A — Preceding unsigned comment added by DrDude01 (talk • contribs) 14:28, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

  • Upload from within Commons, rather than a cross-wiki upload from one of the Wikipedias.
  • On the organization's own website, indicate the license under which the logo is published.
    • If for some reason you cannot do that, you'll have to go through the process outlined at COM:OTRS.
  • If you are writing about your own organization on Wikipedia, I hope you have declared your conflict of interest there. - Jmabel ! talk 16:48, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

Is my upload ok?

Hello, I'm not very experienced in uploading to Wikimedia Commons, so I just want someone to check over my upload and make sure I did it right. I uploaded File:Four of Diamonds 2019.jpg, and I got the photo from JUMPINSOUNDS on Instagram. They gave me permission via DM to use the file. Did I do it all right? – DarkGlow (talk) 12:10, 18 July 2019 (UTC)

@DarkGlow: The problem here is that no-one else can verify the permission, since they can't see the DM. The ideal way to deal with this would be for JUMPINSOUNDS to put a note somewhere on their Instagram page (or a comment on that picture) stating the licence they're releasing them under. For instance, adding "All photos CC BY-SA 4.0" to their biography on https://www.instagram.com/jumpinsounds/, or "This photo is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0" as a comment on the individual photo would probably be sufficient. See creativecommonswiki:Marking your work with a CC license for more comprehensive instructions. Then you could add a LicenseReview template to your file, and a licence reviewer would check the licence was correct and mark the file accordingly. There is an alternative route by email called OTRS, but that tends to be more work for all concerned. --bjh21 (talk) 12:41, 18 July 2019 (UTC)

photograph license

May I upload a photograph that was taken with my camera, and on my film, but not by me (i.e., I was not the photographer)? The subject of the photograph is Hubert Lederer Dreyfus (died April 22, 2017). Hubert Dreyfus has a page on Wikipedia. The photographer is John Haugeland (died June 23, 2010). John Haugeland also has a page on Wikipedia. Hubert Dreyfus directed John Haugeland's doctoral dissertation. The photograph was taken at John Haugeland's suggestion, and with Hubert Dreyfus's consent, as a gift to me. It was their stated intention that the negative should be mine, to do with as I please. However, as they are both now deceased, it is no longer possible to obtain written releases from them.--Grandmotherfrompeoria (talk) 02:58, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

Civil War Era Photographs

I have a lot of photographs of my great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, both of whom served in the Civil War. The photographs have been in the family since they were taken, and I've scanned them into digital files. They all date to before 1899. Some have the photographer's stamp on the back, but most are completely anonymous; are there any restrictions on these images? @Kutsavi: not at all according to what you say. If you are using Special:UploadWizard, choose The copyright has definitely expired in the USA, then First published in the United States before 1924 or First published before 1924 and author deceased more than 70 years ago. PD-US-expired is the relevant licence, for example. SchlurcherBot grouping categories at the bottom

I've been observing the files I upload on Commons once in a while to see if they have been edited. Nowadays, they are edited every single time, but nearly always just by User:SchlurcherBot with the edit summary "Grouping categories at the bottom".

This is annoying me. I want to see if the files have any real edits, such as edited descriptions, more or fewer categories, warning templates, and so on. But I nearly always just get this "Grouping categories at the bottom".

Is there a way in Commons to get the files uploaded straight away with the categories at the bottom so SchlurcherBot wouldn't have to do these insignificant edits? JIP (talk) 00:07, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

@JIP: you could avoid it as long as you put cats at the bottom. Special:UploadWizard does that.
It seems that you use an old upload form? And it inserts licence after what you put in the description box? Then you could ensure cats are at bottom by putting the licence in the permissions field instead of choosing the form's.--Roy17 (talk) 00:57, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

Unfortunately, you will have to do this each time you login. The reverse is "Mobile view" in the same place. In the German language interface, those links are named "Klassische Ansicht" and "Mobile Ansicht". File Tagged for deletion due to copy right permission issue

Hi Team,

i received the following message: Thanks for uploading File:xxx.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). This also applies if you are the author yourself.

My question here is, the person for which I am writing this article is present in this picture. This picture is taken with the president of India (a public figure) at a public event. Can this still be a copy right permission issue? If yes how should i resolve it? Is there a way in which i can quote the source Indian Express in this case and publish the photo in this article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Manas.chafekar (talk • contribs) 04:09, 20 July 2019 (UTC) (UTC)

  • @Manas.chafekar: Most likely there is a copyright issue. Being a public figure does not make the picture any less copyrightable. Under the Berne Convention, photographs are copyrighted by default (by the person who took the picture). If, as you imply, it came from The Indian Express it cannot possibly be old enough for that copyright to have expired. So, no, there is no way you can give permission to use an image whose copyright is presumably held by someone else. Only the owner of that copyright (probably either the photographer or, if rights were transferred, the newspaper) can give such permission. - 04:19, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

Upload album cover artists

Hi,

I'm super new here and pretty ignorant about everything. I would like to expand an existing Wikipedia page of an artist by adding the albums with an image of the album, is this allowed?

Thank You

Esther — Preceding unsigned comment added by Esther Claassen (talk • contribs) 11:31, 20 July 2019 (UTC) (UTC)

@Esther Claassen: Hi,
On Wikimedia Commons, you would have to provide a formal written permission for a free license by the copyright holder. Please see COM:OTRS.
Alternatively, you can upload the album covers locally in some languages, including the English Wikipedia, under a fair use rationale. Regards, Yann (talk) 11:31, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

Somehow the system let me add an image using a duplicate file name. Now when I try to use the image in a Wikipedia article it shows the duplicate rather than mine, even though the addresses are different.

  1. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:China_Grove.jpg
  2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:China_Grove.jpg Wiki name (talk) 23:12, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
@Wiki name: Yes. English Wikipedia uses its own files where they exist, and only resorts to Commons for files that don't exist on English Wikipedia. If you write on English Wikipedia, you will get en:File:China Grove.jpg (the file on English Wikipedia) instead of File:China Grove.jpg (the file on Wikimedia Commons). If you want to use File:China Grove.jpg on English Wikipedia then one of the files will have to be renamed. Since you're the original uploader of File:China Grove.jpg, you could ask for it to be renamed under criterion 1 of Commons:File renaming by using the "move" option in the "more" menu or by adding the Rename template to the page. Alternatively, you could ask for en:File:China Grove.jpg to be renamed under criterion 9 of en:Wikipedia:File names by adding a rename media template to its description page. --bjh21 (talk) 23:35, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

Who is this poet? If he is dead for more than 60 years, his poems can be published on Wikisource. For that, you need to find a old publication, and scan it. Otherwise, his works are still under a copyright in India, and you are not allowed to publish them without a permission.

Removal of Personal Picture

Good afternoon. Could not find an email to contact. Asked for removal of uploaded picture and have waited about 3 months and sadly no action has been taken and have not heard back from anyone. Would like this picture uploaded to be removed. Followed instructions for "speedy deletion" but got confused as this has not been simple at all. Nicely requesting that this photo of myself be removed from your site. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dami_Tha_Prince_and_Sonny_Digital_in_2014_at_K_Camp_Listening_Party.jpg . Interwikilinks/descriptions

Hi, hard to explain in English, but here I go: take for example this file. What is preferred: &) interwikilinking in the existing description or adding a caption? Though, when adding a caption, interwikilinks are not possible. Also, when making a typo, the "resume editing" possibility is no longer available. Hence, I have to publish the change and correct afterwards. Someone here who can give me a hint? Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 13:31, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

  • Having a description in as many languages as possible, interwiki linking in the descriptions (linking, for example, a name to the article in the appropriate language), and adding captions in as many languages as possible are all desirable. There isn't any either/or involved.
    • If this is a person/place/etc. of any significance, adding a specific category is probably a lot more important than adding any wikilink.
  • Often, if there is not a lot to say about the photo, the description and caption for a given language can be identical. (However, if an existing description rises to the level of copyrightable, be aware that captions are CC-0 and you might be violating copyright by simply copying someone else's description to a caption.)
  • Not sure what you mean by the '"resume editing" possibility': is that something specific to captions or are you talking about editing wikitext, since you mention both here? - Jmabel ! talk 19:28, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
@Jmabel: thank you so much for your time! by "resume editing" I mean there is no longer any way to correct the text after previewing it. this is the latest exmaple, where I had to save the edit and afterwards make the correct interwikilink in the wikitext. Before... there was a way of correcting that immediately. Lotje (talk) 08:24, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
  • @Lotje: Is this on a phone or a computer? If it's a phone, I don't know the interface at all (ok, just enough to know I dislike) it. If on a computer: when you "Show preview", it should provide both a preview of the page and (typically below that, unless you're overriding with a stylesheet) an editing area. Is that not how it is for you? - Jmabel ! talk 15:32, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
@Jmabel: it's not on a phone, but it even gets better...: when I add an interwikilink, there appear 3 "edit captions" next to each other, like this: "edit" "edit" 'edit". I give in. Too hard to explain something I see and someone else doesn't. Seems like the Tower of Babel to me. :-) Lotje (talk) 16:09, 22 July 2019 (UTC)

@Kai3952: Sure, just create Category:UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards, categorize it with other categories (such as Category:UNESCO, or any other more specific categories, also make sure that they are placed down as ), than publish your edit. You may then categorize the category for Taipei Bao-an Temple with your Category:UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards, and make sure other categories of different heritage buildings are categorized properly. Setting global preferences

Funny, I'm not finding this in the archives. When I go to set my global preferences, in front of certain params such as 'Allow other users to email me' there are two unlabeled check boxes. What's the difference between checking one, the other, or both? Kwamikagami (talk) 07:41, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

@Kwamikagami: The first box on each detail line of Special:GlobalPreferences means "this preference is global". The second box in this case means "Allow other users to email me". I have both checked, allowing users from all WMF wikis to email me.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 09:01, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

Sorry, I still don't understand. What's the difference between clicking the different boxes? Presumably they both mean "Allow other users to email me." Kwamikagami (talk) 09:14, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

@Kwamikagami: Unless both boxes are checked, you will not get email messages from every WMF wiki.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 09:23, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks, Jeff. Why have two boxes then? Does the second box maybe show whether or not I have that option set for some but not all accts? Kwamikagami (talk) 09:27, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

@Kwamikagami: If you check just the first box, you will not get email messages from every WMF wiki. If you uncheck the first box, you cannot check the second box, it will be dimmed because it won't matter. Of course, you can override each global preference on each local wiki.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 09:58, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

@Mfrizky: Hi, and welcome. I am sorry to inform you that you have triggered Special:AbuseFilter/153 by trying to cross-wiki upload a smaller (<50KB or <5MP) jpg photo as a new user while leaving the summary intact. The photo you tried to upload is smaller, and you wrote it's your own work. Usually when someone uploads a smaller photo, it is a copyright violation taken from the web. If you took the photo yourself, please upload the full-size original of it, including EXIF metadata. If you did not take the photo, please see Commons:Licensing for why we can't accept it, and have the photographer post Commons:Licensing compliant permission for such works on their website or social media presence or send the photo and permission via OTRS with a carbon copy to you. If you change the summary or use our Upload Wizard instead, you should be able to avoid that filter.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 08:13, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

Does uploading an .mp3 require Autopatrol rights?

Hi, I am interested in uploading an .mp3 file from a YouTube video that has been uploaded with the CC-BY 3.0 License. When I try to upload the file, I get a warning that audio file uploading is disabled by default due to (understandable) concerns over copyright, and to request Autopatrol rights to get around this. However, it seems like Autopatrol rights require a very large number of edits on the commons which I do not have, and therefore seems unlikely I could go about acquiring them. Is there therefore no way for me to upload an audio file (even one I am confident is not copyrighted)?

@Jeff G.: The file is a clip of a car driving at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, from this video by Mr JWW which has been uploaded with YouTube's CC license. I recorded the short (5 second) clip I wanted with Audacity. Aab254 (talk) 13:22, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

Editing an article

Dear friends!

I wrote my first article and I need in help (editing). Where I must load article and find helper? Averev (talk) 21:04, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

  • @Averev: I'm guessing that you meant to ask this question on Wikipedia (since Wikimedia Commons, the site you are on, does not have articles). Given that your question is in English, I'm guessing that you want the English-language Wikipedia. Try asking at w:Wikipedia:Teahouse. - Jmabel ! talk 22:36, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

Flicker uploading problem

I have uploaded lots of photos from Flicker with this uploader but it has now suddenly stopped working on several different computers that I have previously used for plenty of uploads without any problems.

I consistently get an Error 403: your request was denied message. Do anybody know what is wrong and how I can solve the problem in the easiest possible way?Ramblersen2 (talk) 16:35, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

Cemetery Plan

Hello,

I want to add the following map to the Wiki Page I am working on. Is this possible? I was thinking I could screen shot the map and then cite it. It is from the Mayor's office of Paris and was published on this cite:

https://api-site.paris.fr/images/74771 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abkeating (talk • contribs) 19:31, 30 July 2019‎ (UTC)

Abkeating: There are far better way to extract graphics from PDFs than to take screenshots of them (especially since these are vector graphics). But first, do you have any particular reason to believe that the content is published under a free license or released into the public domain? LX (talk, contribs) 08:46, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

The reason I think it is for anyone to use is because it is from an article from the mayor of Paris.

Unblock Article editing

How can I unblock from the article editing ?

@Grydle and Sync: Firstly, please sign your posts with 4 tildes. You need to ask about unblocking on Wikipedia - you were blocked there for being a promotion/advertising only account. In other words you were solely trying to advertise your business which is not allowed. Gbawden (talk) 11:35, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Properly Attributing Photos?

Hello,

We are publishing a medical study guide and one of our authors used all Wikimedia Commons/Creative Commons photos. If we put the author name and a link to the photo on this site, does that suffice for giving proper attribution? Thank you.

It depends on the individual licence for each photo. E.g. Creative Commons licences require that you also provide a link to the licence text. Other images, however, may be free of copyright at all, so there is no attribution required for them. So without a list of filenames, we can hardly provide a general answer to your request. I can't upload my file

I have been trying to upload my file. I'm using a PDF and I has been impossible to do it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CONCEJO44 (talk • contribs) 16:20, 31 July 2019‎ (UTC)

What error message do you get when you try to upload the file? Please note also that we do not keep PDF files for images, and also text PDFs are only kept under special circumstances. De728631 (talk) 19:33, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Please help. Delete page and delete photo. I disagree.

Hello. Please help. Where can I read about how to technically lead a discussion regarding the page marked for deletion. I am against the removal of the page and I want to take part in the discussion of the issue, but I do not understand how. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artsidorov (talk • contribs) 19:24, 31 July 2019‎ (UTC)

@Artsidorov: Follow the link in the deletion notice to the deletion proposal here and explain why this image is either free of copyright or has been released by the photographer with a licence suitable for use here. Normally images found on Facebook will be copyrighted, so not acceptable here. Rodhullandemu (talk) 19:30, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Adding declined file moves to watchlist

Hi, Is there any way I can automatically add a declined filename request to my watchlist?, I'm currently having to add these manually and it'd be easier if something could do it for me if possible, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 21:37, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Hey Davey2010. Under your watchlist preferences you can select to have all pages you edit added to your watchlist. This will accomplish what you wish to do, but will also probably end up adding a bunch of page you might not necessarily want. Not sure if that's worth the trouble to you though. GMGtalk 14:32, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
Hi GreenMeansGo,
On my watchlist preferences I have:
Watched pages
Add pages and files I edit to my watchlist
Add pages and files I move to my watchlist
Add pages I create and files I upload to my watchlist
Add pages where I have performed a rollback to my watchlist
Add new files I upload to my watchlist
which are all ticked but there isn't option to "Add pages and files I decline to my watchlist" although I guess it would fall under "Add pages and files I edit to my watchlist",
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:56, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
Yup Davey2010. You'd have to add all edits as in the first tick box. The move creates a log entry, but I believe the decline is just a regular semi-automated edit with the removal of the request template. It's possible you could request that the Movefile Gadget add an option to watchlist declines, but I have no idea who maintains it. After poking around for a bit, I still don't know. GMGtalk 15:09, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
Hi GreenMeansGo, No worries I'll do a bit of searching - The filemoving tool's failed a few times so if I could locate the error page I might be able to go from that (hopefully :) ), Many thanks for your help anyway :), –Davey2010Talk 20:57, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
Asked at MediaWiki talk:Gadget-RenameLink.js, Admittedly not entirely sure if it's the correct place but I think it is..... –Davey2010Talk 21:14, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

photograph license

May I upload a photograph that was taken with my camera, and on my film, but not by me (i.e., I was not the photographer)? The subject of the photograph is Hubert Lederer Dreyfus (died April 22, 2017). Hubert Dreyfus has a page on Wikipedia. The photographer is John Haugeland (died June 23, 2010). John Haugeland also has a page on Wikipedia.

@Grandmotherfrompeoria: Sorry, you may not upload that photo without written permission sent by the estate or heirs of the photographer via OTRS with a carbon copy to you, and a tag.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 03:24, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
@Jeff G.: OK, I will see if I can obtain that. Thank you. Grandmotherfrompeoria (talk) 15:05, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
@Grandmotherfrompeoria: You're welcome.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 15:21, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

@Jeff G.: I have obtained agreement from the copyright holder. Please advise the correct sequence of steps to follow. Should the copyright holder first use the "Interactive Release Generator"? Or should I first upload the photo with an "OTRS Pending" tag? And how does the copyright holder identify the photo to OTRS? through a ticket number?
