Emblem of the Democratic People's Republic of Angola[edit]

Article(s): en:Democratic People's Republic of Angola

Request

Hello, I'm looking to see if anyone could remake the emblem used by UNITA's rival government of the Democratic People's Republic of Angola; the emblem is the same as the middle of the one on UNITA's party emblem but with the text SOCIALISMO, NEGRITUDE, DEMOCRACIA NÃO-ALINHAMENTO.
References:

Colors should be all the same as the one on the current logo of UNITA and the rooster & sun should be the same as the colors on the flag.
Thanks a million in advance if anyone takes this request :) --NorthTension (talk) 16:28, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I made some progress in Inkscape (not the full emblem though)

Seal of the Territory of New Mexico (1887–1912) - TIF to SVG[edit]

Would anybody be able to redraw the above TIF file of the seal used by the New Mexico Territory from 1887 to 1912 as SVG please? Thanks. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 13:28, 27 January 2024 (UTC) Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 15:32, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Graphist opinion(s)
You want it to be exactly like the TIFF or would relettering one of the SVGs in category:state seals of New Mexico do? Arlo James Barnes 07:00, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would probably be better for an SVG version of the seal to be the same as the current TIF version, in order to accurately reflect the differences between the seals used by the former territory and the modern state. But thanks for enquiring. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 14:08, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, well then I'll upload a simple autotrace and let the better vector experts overwrite it when ready. In the meantime we should figure out which of COM:FONTS best matches the rim lettering so that the text may truly be represented using text in the SVG. Arlo James Barnes 21:50, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's a great rendition, thank you very much! So do you have any particular font in mind that you think could match that of the outer rim? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 15:17, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A heavy Scotch Roman such as Century or Clarendon would probably match closest. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 18:01, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

category:typeface Samples of Fonts available to Commons SVG engine is a more visual index of our options than COM:FONTS gives. I uploaded an un-curved sample for easy checking against (see gallery above). Arlo James Barnes 04:11, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Fvasconcellos: Thank you for the advice! Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 13:11, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Arlo Barnes: Yes, that does look fairly accurate! Thanks for the visualisation! Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 13:11, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

SVG and split religious habits[edit]

Article(s): a lot of them!

Request
Hello. On the it.wiki's Graphics Lab we're working on converting to SVG and splitting religios habit/vestments sketches on Commons, so they can be used more easily and without scaling problems. Since it's a really long process, we would like to ask for your help taking some of that work.

More precisely, the steps are the following:

  1. Creating an SVG version of the sketches and uploading it
  2. Uploading the individual sketches on Commons

If it's possible, I would ask for coherence to make them on the style of those sketches: 1, 2, 3, since it's the one used by most of the sketches already present

Thanks a lot --Sciking (talk) 15:19, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request
I have just uploaded sufficiently clear bitmap materials about the Chinese national emblem when it was first released, providing assurance in image quality (600dpi/1200dpi).
This can be considered its appearance when it was first seen by the Chinese people. I hope to see a more accurate vector version.
A comparison reveals that:
Some of the three-dimensional details are inaccurately drawn, failing to reflect the proper perspective.
The wheat ring appears thicker in comparison.
The stacking order of some wheat grains is incorrect.
There are discrepancies in the depiction of Tiananmen.
The gears below Tiananmen are flat, lacking a three-dimensional layout.
The depiction of the folds at the lower end of the ribbon is incorrect, and its position and angle are inconsistent.
The path outline is too thick compared to the material I provided, resulting in lower precision.

Request
Could the flag be adjusted so that the lions positioned above the cross according to the official grant be changed to match the ones used in the Seigneur's flag please? Could the Seigneur's flag be renamed and the bordered one be renamed as the "flag of Sark" please? The C of E (talk) 18:34, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Graphist opinion(s)
@The C of E: The current Flag of Sark.svg cannot be overwritten or renamed, and it doesn't need to be edited; simply reverted to a previous version. The best way to go about this would be an edit request at File talk:Flag of Sark.svg, if there is incontrovertible evidence that the current version is incorrect. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 19:10, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Fvasconcellos: I think you might be misunderstanding my request. I'd like the bordered version to be renamed as Flag of Sark (and svg-ed) according to the flag's design when it was officially granted to the island by the late Queen Elizabeth. The current Flag of Sark article needs to be moved to "Flag of the Seigneur of Sark" because the Lions positioning is different between the Island's flag and the Seigneur's flag. The C of E (talk) 19:24, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@The C of E: I meant that the current Flag of Sark.svg could be reverted to the immediate previous version and it would then match the grant of arms, which would obviate the need to rename the file (or, indeed, make any changes to Flag of Sark (bordered).svg). A "fresh" flag of the Seigneur could then be uploaded.
The current version of Flag of Sark (bordered).svg can instead be changed to match the grant, but I don't think it can be moved (or Flag of Sark.svg renamed) while the latter is protected; need to check that with an admin. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 19:51, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@The C of E: Flag of Sark (bordered).svg updated. You will need admin assistance for the corresponding renaming requests, though! Fvasconcellos (t·c) 23:37, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Democratic Party for Progress – Angolan National Alliance P.D.P.-A.N.A., For copyright reasons, please use the hand from the yellow arm. The letters are two parts of the abbreviation. [12]
  2. Angolan National Democratic Party P.N.D.A., due to poor quality, ignore the subtitles, and for copyright reasons, draw a simplified dove.
  3. Angolan Democratic Forum F.D.A., I haven't found a logo in good quality, but it will definitely be too complex, so ignore it completely and just make a three-color flag
  4. Social Democratic Party P.S.D., the wreath must be made by eye
  5. Liberal Democratic Party P.L.D., [13] Replace the logo with its simplified shape. An alternative way is to submit it to the English wiki with an appropriate restriction.

I am not asking for the rest because they already exist, they are too complicated, or the parties do not meet the wiki validity criteria. Swiãtopôłk (talk) 20:54, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A to Z in a circle[edit]

i tried to make an svg of A to Z forming a circle after finding no existing svg. i hammered out this code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<svg viewBox="0 0 300 300" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">
<circle
     r="100"
     stroke="#000"
     cy="140"
     cx="-30"
     stroke-width="0"
     fill="none"
     id="Circle1" />
<text font-size="32" fill="#000000" letter-spacing="6.5" font-family="monospace">
<textPath xlink:href="#Circle1">ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ</textPath></text>
</svg>

problems:

  1. is there a better way to achieve this? so that the 26 letters are truly equally spaced out? i tried to do the math but i cant get it right probably because i got the units wrong, so now they are just manually spaced to be roughly equidistant.
  2. png doesnt render.

(math i did:)

fontsize = x pt = 4x/3 px
26*(fontsize+spacing)=2 pi r
r = 13*(4x/3+spacing)/pi

--RZuo (talk) 07:15, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

@RZuo: Unfortunately, librsvg (Wikimedia's SVG renderer) does not implement text-on-path; see Help:SVG. You need to either convert the text to paths or have each character as an individual text element with the appropriate transforms. I've overwritten the file with some example code so it renders, feel free to revert or tweak it at your discretion. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 16:41, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Fvasconcellos thx a lot! your replacement is good enough for the time being. i dont have the expertise to handle more complicated svg either.
i guess specifying the positions for each letter is the only feasible method now. RZuo (talk) 17:00, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly, this problem runs into many SVG agent limitations. WMF's uses librsvg, but it has many limitations — including no support for textPath. Chrome does not like textPath using a circle (a path that does not have a starting position). Using a path element with arc segments runs into other issues when trying to make a complete circle.
It gets worse. In theory, setting textLength="100%" should expand the text to fit the whole path (similar to startOffset="50%"). Firefox apparently ignores the textLength attribute, and Chrome does not use the correct value. Chrome will accept an explicit length of textLength="628" (but that puts no spacing between Z and A).

flag of Republican Party of Angola[edit]

Article(s): en:Republican Party of Angola

Request
Please make two versions of the flag of the Republican Party of Angola. [21] [22] [23] [24] [25] [26] The background of the flag is thirteen white and red stripes, with white at the bottom and top (the first link shows 11, but the photos show 13). The eagle is very similar to the coat of arms of the United States, but instead of a twig it holds something that looks like the symbol of East Germany. The use of a drawing from the US seal is not strange for this organization. The white eagle has a shadow on the back of its head and a simplified tail. The party uses both versions.

Straight, sharp, clean vector of this logo, including the wordmark. Neither uploads of this PNG (shown in its history) are really good. Carlinal (talk) 20:38, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
