Are you both the same user? I've noticed that you've edited the text in some images, and both of the user pages are empty. Since you've welcome here, why don't you write something in your user page? If you want, I can restore the deleted pictures, so you could add the missing information.
When you're uploading a new picture, please use [[ ]] for the categories (instead of [ ] ), and add [[Category:Yves Picq]] so your pictures would appear in your gallery.
I really like your pictures, and I just want that they won't get lost...

Conflicting licensing[edit]

It appears that the images you are uploading also reside at veton.picq.fr. For example, Image:Namibie Himba 0707a.jpg is the same as veton.picq.fr/namibie/IMG_0963a. Veton.picq.fr currently states that the images are fully copyrighted ("© 2007, Veton PICQ"). This contradictory licensing will result in the eventual deletion of your uploaded images unless it is resolved. Please change the licensing of the images on your website to match that of the images here on Wikimedia Commons. Thank you, BanyanTree 08:48, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merci d'avance. Hello, there has been an ongoing discussion at Commons:Village pump#Image deletion about your images and it has been suggested that it would be better if you send an email to OTRS, where volunteers handle emails, rather than changing the licensing on your own site. This would still allow Commons to confirm that you and the site owner are the same person. Please send an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org from a picq.fr email address. In the email state that you own the copyright to the images at veton.picq.fr, that your Wikimedia Commons account is User:Yves Picq, and that you would like notification of this to be put on your user talk page. That should resolve any legal questions about the licensing. Thank you for your understanding, BanyanTree 11:58, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About your Japan/geisha/Kyoto pictures taken in May 2005[edit]

The persons portrayed in the pictures listed below are all maiko hensin (non-maiko dressed up as maiko). I would suggest that you fix the descriptions of these photos as to not cause further confusion to Wikipedia users. I have listed some clues about why I strongly suspect these pictures all portray maiko henshin and not real maiko.

  • There are clashes of seasonality in the costumes, and maiko and geisha are known to be very careful with matching the patterns of their clothes and accessories with the seasons.
  • The women are wearing wigs, which maiko do not do.
  • They are leisurely posing, which is highly untypical of maiko as they have their work to do — unless someone pays for them for to pose for photos.
  • The costumes have paradoxes about the maiko rank — the rank, again, is something that is closely followed by the real maiko. For example, all the women here have their both lips painted, while real maiko do this only in the last stages of their training — they also have long, hanging hair accessories, which maiko would not wear anymore when they paint their both lips.
  • There are also some other oddities in the costumes, for example one of the women wears pink lipstick, which again is not something a maiko would do.

The pictures I am referring to:

  • Japon Kyoto 0502.jpg and Japon Kyoto 0505.jpg
  • Japon Kyoto 1828a.jpg and Japon Kyoto 1842a.jpg
  • Japon Kyoto 0508.jpg

Pitke (talk) 14:16, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I changed it in french as "touriste costumée en geisha". You're right, they're aren't geishas at all and one of them is even an occidental girl. Maybe I'll create an new categorie for maiko hensin, it'll be easier. Ceridwen (talk) 06:47, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Montpellier, the 12th of April 2010

Dear Sir The Centre Ethique International (International Ethical Center) organised as one of several Inter-Cultural Events for Peace, a theme week-end on the discovery of India at Palavas-les-Flots (France) the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of May 2009. With the presence of many artists, the week-end gave a chance to discover, part of the richness, deepness and variety of Indian culture. We are in the process of making a 15 minute film presenting the week-end, that will be visible on our web site www.centreethique.com so as to inform the visitors on the events we organise. The video is mainly edited with material filmed during the week-end itself, however to illustrate a sequence on « Kathakali dances » we wish to include the photography reference « indian actor kathakali » (or "Karutha Thaadi") (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier:Kathakali5243a.jpg) and therefore ask for your pemission to do so.

Thankyou for replying as soon as it is possible for you.

Best regards

Nathanael Durix, Secretary of the International Ethical Center, centre.ethique@orange.fr, www.centreethique.com

Hello, Yves Picq!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.
