Hello, Rizome!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Pay attention to copyright
File:Bibiana_Aído_(high).jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

This image, is not a copyright violation[edit]

It has been downloaded from [1] "20 Minutos", spanish newspaper, who license his work with CC-by-sa (GNU compatible). The license terms are specified here [2]. --Rizome (talk) 13:02, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This photo is a copyright violation. Only "Foto:20minutos" is ok, no other photo providers - in this case Foto: BIBIANA AÍDO. Also Foto:Archivo is considererd unfree. --Martin H. (talk) 18:26, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Read http://www.20minutos.es/licencia_20_minutos/: Esta licencia no se aplica a los contenidos publicados por 20minutos procedentes de los terceros siguientes. --Martin H. (talk) 20:01, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you did not understand this: Only the author (photographer) or holder of copyright is eligible to give a free license. 20minutos uses this image, but they dont own the copyright, so no free license. Same below: peliculas.info uses the photo, but they are not the photographer. Enter "Kira-miro-en-la-presentacion-de-quiereme" to google imagesearch and you will see. --Martin H. (talk) 20:11, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, the other way. ONLY Foto:20minutos, nothing else. 3rd party is 3rd Party, no matter listed in the legal note or not, 20minutos simply does not own the copyrights on photos w:es:Bibiana Aído created... She is not an employee of 20minutos.es ;) --Martin H. (talk) 23:55, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The list are only examples. The bold text says: de los terceros siguientes. Ask yourself: Is Bibiana Aído an employee of the newspaper 20minutos.es? --Martin H. (talk) 08:43, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are still wrong. 20minutos.es is a very untrusted source, you should review them very carefully. I just nominated 3 files for deletion which are clearly claimed under wrong copyright by 20minutos.

privacy violation[edit]

Hi Rizome,
image A and C of your echographies contain (upper border) the legible name of the patient/mother (probably). That is a privacy violation. Either remove the image or crop away the name, immediately. --Túrelio (talk) 10:56, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But she uploaded the photos, with her name. She wants to be identified. You can watch it in the source. --Rizome (talk) 11:50, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
See my reply on my talkpage.--Túrelio (talk) 12:20, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Again, see my reply on my talkpage.--Túrelio (talk) 07:15, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We cannot use images that are a photograph of another image. We would need to have permission of the original photographer in a case like this. It's very unlikely that the hospital would license the image as Creative Commons. Royalbroil 13:33, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keep: The deletion request, was declined.

I strongly doubt, that "peliculas.info" is eligible to license this image. See their Mainpage, http://www.peliculas.info/, at the moment they have A Screenshot from Terminator, the cover of "The Haunting in Conneticut", some photos, a nother Screenshot of Shutter Island, something from Harry Potter, a Marilyn Monroe photo.... The text from this blog is maybe under cc-by, but not the photos. Martin H. (talk) 18:25, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete: Deleted because of the Precautionary principle and deletion request accepted. WTF! --Rizome (talk) 20:48, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Source page does not indicate it's a phote made by 20minutos.es. Also the image is using the wrong license, should be cc-by-sa-2.1-es Denniss (talk) 09:22, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS Wait[edit]

Hello, Rizome - just so you know, I've started a discussion on the OTRS noticeboard that might need your attention: Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard#OTRS Wait. Thanks! Hersfold (talk/work) 02:07, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This category and template are not appropriate. You should only upload files after you receive the permission, otherwise they are copyright violations. - Rjd0060 (talk) 04:29, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template is now nominated for deletion at Commons:Deletion requests/Template:OTRS wait. Stifle (talk) 13:58, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted you to know that I think this is a great template. I only speak English and have used this several times on new users talk pages where it was not apparent if they spoke English. I have even created a user page User:Captain-tucker/translate where I have saved various languages setup with your template in case I need to use them again. I did have one question, why is the font for the translated text smaller than the original text? On a high resolution monitor it sometimes makes it hard to read the translated version. Other than that it's a great template. Thanks again. --Captain-tucker (talk) 18:34, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:HazteOir.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Agree. Cuando subí la imágen a Commons, estaba correctamente licenciada como CC-BY-SA. Desconozco el motivo por el que el autor ha decidido eliminarla de su álbum, pero así las cosas, deberá ser borrada. Gracias por el aviso.
(I'm not an english-speaker. Sorry for my bad english.)
When I uploaded the photo, it was correctly licensed as CC-BY-SA. I don't understand why the autor has change it. This way, it must be deleted. Thanks for the notice.

Cierto[edit]

No había visto eso. Y sí, perfecto. Lo importante es atribuir al autor.

Gracias. Un saludo. --Dodo (talk) 15:13, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Ravave (talk) 11:25, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Raruto[edit]

Hi! I'd like to write an article in English about Raruto.

Do you know where any major Spanish newspaper articles are about Raruto? WhisperToMe (talk) 12:11, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That helps a LOT. Thank you very much :)
I'm not that good at Spanish either, so it's alright. I try to make some stubs on ES, especially on American subjects.

RE: Great! I used there is no provided reason because I saw it in File:Primer Gobierno de Rodríguez Zapatero (VIII Legislatura).jpg, but your proposal is much better. I changed both: [3] and [4].
