Ezra Taft Benson[edit]

The croped image you posted as File:Ezra Taft Benson.jpg does not depict w:Ezra Taft Benson; it instead shows de:Theodor Sonnemann, a German official. If you look at the uncropped photo you can see part of Benson's face (wearing horn-rim glasses) to the right of the right most photographer, behind the man in the forfront/far right location in the photo. Please correct this mistake in the file name. -- 208.81.184.4 23:34, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. I've uploaded a correctly named version, tagged the other one for speedy deletion, and taken it out of the Wikipedia article where it was displayed. Cheers, Pruneautalk 10:57, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photographs of identifiable people again[edit]

I have made some changes to Commons:Photographs of identifiable people/Proposal in response to a variety of helpful suggestions that users have made on the talk page. You have already commented there; could I ask you to have a look again, and to consider whether you would like to express an opinion in the Poll towards the bottom of the page? Many thanks. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 18:35, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Monitoring POTY[edit]

Sorry to be late on this - I have an essay coming up due for University. Pretty much just monitoring pages. Don't worry too much about the 200 edits - they don't necessarily have to be on commons, so it's probably easier just to ignore that for now and deal with it at the end. Make sure the numbered lists are maintained, and that any oppose votes and nasty comments are removed (this is not the place to rehash its FPC candidacy). And, of course, if you notice any signs of fraud, then let me know.

How many galleries would you be up to monitoring? A once-per-day-or-so check of them is more than ampleAdam Cuerden (talk) 04:01, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ça me dit :

You can now log in to any wiki site of the Wikimedia Foundation without creating a new account.

Amicalement, Pruneautalk 15:44, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MEDEF[edit]

Hi Pruneau, thats a GREAT resource, thank you for doing some transferes. How do you make the identification? I already saw some of this pictures while searching flickr, but i was unable to identificate the persons, i also did not find any participants list on the web. Very good work. After noticing your good work I yesterday found a new one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35952250@N02/. Of course we dont need any more photos of Joe Biden, but there are some interesting lesser known politicians not covered by other image resources yet. --Martin H. (talk) 11:35, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Of course acces to the french language helps you here, i was unable to find the participants list. I will go thrugh the PN stream the next time, but like I said: I think a group photo of politicians is interesting, but a bad portrait like http://www.flickr.com/photos/35952250@N02/3391135704/ is not interesting, we have many more images of this person. I will transfer the intersting and try my best to crop persons from group images we dont have a good portrait yet. Keep on the good work :) --Martin H. (talk) 11:54, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bonjour.

Amicalement, Pruneautalk 09:02, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Carte France circonscription[edit]

Cdlt,--Lautre02 (talk) 15:18, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

bosnia map[edit]

You said this, in regards to that fraudulent bosnia map... quoteKeep (for now). This is used in many projects. If there is consensus on the Wikipedias to use another map, then they should and can go ahead and use another map, but they haven't so far. It isn't up to Commons to impose such editorial choices on the Wikipedias.quote What difference does it make if it is used in many projects if it is a clearly wrong map? The person who made these maps does not want to cooperate with new ones which exist. There has been a big discussion, the author has agreed that the map is wrong, and now is not moving forward in anything to agree with the new maps that I have presented to him. (LAz17 (talk) 00:10, 24 June 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Hi. I'm afraid I don't really understand your argument: if everyone agrees this map is wrong, why is it still used in so many places? Couldn't you have this discussion on Wikipedia, and reach consensus to use another map there? As I said, from Commons' point of view, it looks that the Wikipedia need this file (despite the mistakes you say it has), so why would we delete it? Pruneautalk 07:47, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The map is there because of what happened on the english wikipedia. The Croats used these maps to replace other maps. I have, and many others too, have indicated that their maps are fraudulent, yet they continued to keep them. I have started to delete their maps, one step at a time. The author of these maps held one last stand, and boy did it last a while. But, we came to the concensus that the map that I provided for 1991 is CORRECT. You can see that here, at the bottom, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Rjecina/Bosnian_census . As for why are they on so many wikipedias - one simple reason... someone who speaks another language thought that this map looks good and decided to put it up on the project of their language. There is nothing unusual here. Simply, the person had little knowledge on the ethnic map of the region, and tried to expand the page in the other language. TO be honest, the map itself does not look too bad, and people can easily be fooled by it. This is why it is very useful to read the renowned "Mark Monmonier"s book "how to lie with maps". We see this going on here. (LAz17 (talk) 14:43, 24 June 2009 (UTC)).[reply]
Where does it indicate on which wikiprojects this map is? Are admins only allowed to see that? (LAz17 (talk) 14:43, 24 June 2009 (UTC)).[reply]
To find out where an image is used, use the "check usage" tab at the top of any image page, next to the "watch" tab. Any user can see that.
I can't understand the discussion you've linked to, since half of it is in Croatian. Anyhow, the point remains: this is an editorial issue, which should be dealt with first and foremost by the Wikipedias. I would suggest that you notify the various Wikipedias about the issues you say this image has, so that they can take the actions they deem necessary. Pruneautalk 15:04, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could you explain to me why the image was restored? I'm a little mystified. J Milburn (talk) 20:29, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you feel my original tagging with {{Npd}} was incorrect? Should I have nominated there from the beginning? J Milburn (talk) 21:47, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If someone edit wars to remove a legitimate speedy deletion/quasi-speedy deletion notice, the image should instead be sent to a deletion discussion? As I said before, AnonMoos failed to provide any evidence during our discussions while he repeatedly removed the tag (which was reinstated by myself and others) and so I'm somewhat sceptical that he will provide any if it is sent to a deletion discussion. I concede that a discussion will certainly resolve the issue, but I'm not really seeing it as the best possible solution... J Milburn (talk) 21:57, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You deleted the file knochenhand.jpg. I at first uploaded the wrong version, this one had been deleted. Than I uploaded the right version (lower resolution), and the permission of the author has being sent to permissions.wikipedi.org. I have the copy of the permission mail. What's wrong. ? --Marinelli (talk) 10:58, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I saw you deleted all the files relating to Gerhard Gepp. There are Fussball_und_Freud.jpg, Saurier.jpg, Fenster_jpg and Fernseher_jpg.

I wanted only the high resolution deleted, and the low resolution uploaded is okay. this is a mistake. Could you please undo the deletion of Aug. 21? Thank you. --Marinelli (talk) 11:15, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that; I thought you wanted to upload even lower resolution files. I have restored the following: File:Knochenhand.jpg, File:Fussball_und_Freud.jpg, File:Saurier.jpg, File:Fenster.jpg and File:Endspiel.jpg. I couldn't find looking like Fernseher_jpg. Since you have forwarded permission to OTRS, could you add {{OTRS pending}} to the description pages? Again, sorry about the mistake. Pruneautalk 11:36, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I don't know how to handle OTRS, because I have not yet recieved the ticket - number. --Marinelli (talk) 11:56, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your work on my two pictures. Its quite funny: I've taken them whith a cheap digital camera, and I remember that I've been a bit jealous of a professional photographer who used a SLR-zoom lens of a stovepipe-like size I had never seen before. Deletion policy[edit]

Hello Pruneau, I have just added a comment to your discussion for speedy deletions for "out-of-scope-files". Is there a consensus that is reached? Perhaps we have to wait for two weeks. - You will know how to proceed further. Perhaps people who are not familiar with the thousands of old uncategorized files don't see the necessity for a change. Best wishes Cholo Aleman (talk) 08:33, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Cholo, I don't think consensus has been reached yet, but I certainly hope some solution comes out of the discussion (speedy deletion or something else): the current policy is not tenable in my opinion. Pruneautalk 11:36, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Koffi_Olomidé.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
