Bravo Magog the Ogre, you did very big mistake, you really didn't understand my behaviour, check my contributions, there is not only about conflict regions. I'm really amazed -_-. Explain what is my ethnic agenda? Just for renaming are you blocking user? What you will do if I call your state Al-pennsylvania ? Will you not change it ? Please unblock ! --g. balaxaZe 13:43, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You mean like this? No, that's what I was telling you from the beginning - we don't care about what language something is in; we're Wikimedia Commons, not the UN. And what's really gotten you blocked was the constant edit warring, and then when people tried to address it with you, just ignoring the issue altogether.
No, I think you can stay blocked. If you want to come back in two months time, place an unblock request and explain how you're going to add content constructively and not going to keep treating Commons as a place to further your nationalistic holy war (or to stop the ungodly heathen who are ruining your nation). Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 18:28, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Also, if you want to appeal to a different administrator, you can use the {{unblock|1=your reason here}} template. I have no objections to anyone who thinks I've been too harsh unblocking you or reducing your block. And, if you can actually demonstrate that you understand the problem with your edits instead of invoking a NOTTHEM defense, I will reduce the block or remove it. Unblock[edit]

Unblock request granted

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, and one or more administrators has reviewed and granted this request.

Request reason: "I demand unblock because this infinite block by user Magog the Ogre was wrong and harebrained. I had several warrings, and I've wrote that I'll try hard to prevent them. After I tried to change settlement's name of two commons photo [1], [2] , because I've thought that comons is mainly english, as english is international language, and it will be better if settlement's name also will be given in the international form. This request of renaiming reverted user User:Chipmunkdavis, this change provoked edit warring on user Magog the Ogre decision, but Chipmunkdavis's change was improper because I wrote many sources like in this Talk:Tquarchal district in English Wikipedia. But dispite this user Magog the Ogre's indefinitely blocking reason „disruptive editing: user is here mainly to push an ethnic agenda, refuses to back down“ is absolutly pointless, check my contributions, how somebody can see there mainly pushing of ethnic agenda? I am respectfully requesting other admins to unblock my user name or IP address. Thanks"
Unblock reason: "See below. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:42, 2 April 2014 (UTC)"[reply]

Just to be clear, the reason you were blocked is the following:
  • Being warned about edit warring, and promptly ignoring said warnings.
  • Being warned about treating Commons as a jingoist battleground, and promptly ignoring said warnings.
  • Being warned that Commons has not ever, never has, never will enforce any sort of spelling standards in filenames in order to convert the file from Language A to Language B, and promptly ignoring said warnings.
  • Being warned to discuss issues when you disagree, and promptly ignoring said warnings.
  • Promising to stop edit warring and then promptly returning to edit war.[3]
  • Failing to give any sort of sense that you will stop your disruptive behavior, and therefore proving that a finite block will only result in you returning to the behavior once it is complete.

Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:29, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Magog the Ogre after my promise I was not edit warring, I just requested to change file name, I wrote why I wanted to do it. Also all my changes which moved in edit warring where explained not just revertings and etc. So be kind, I understand what your point is, but that is not true in reality. I am not hiding that I had several mistakes but infinite block is way over. Unblock and control my contributions and during 1 or 2 month, if you find rules new violetions, block again and won't say anything. I need Commons for new files about cities and buldings of Georgia, for articles which I create and etc. --g. balaxaZe 05:51, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • It looks like the block was implemented due to continued edit-warring, confrontational attitude, repeated unconstructive behavior, etc. This current unblock request, in it's wording and spirit, looks like more of the same. In order to be unblocked, you need to acknowledge the issues, take responsibility for your actions, and explain how you're going to correct them and edit constructively. INeverCry 17:08, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm in agreement with INeverCry. If you can show that you understand why you were blocked, and can show that you won't do it again, then I will support an unblock. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 21:02, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I understand you position and view, yes I'm acknowledging my mistakes and due to my poor English I can't explain everything as I wish to do, so now I am giving promise that I won't edit-war, I won't behave autocratically, all my changes will be discussed and sourced, and also I understand that issue about naming, and will not return to that. Now I'm just requesting unblock to prove all of this, my contributions will be exemplary ... --g. balaxaZe 15:00, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Magog the Ogre; INeverCry --g. balaxaZe 10:14, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've unblocked your account. I'm still not sure if it was a good idea or not, but I will assume good faith and assume that you really know that you should not be edit warring. If you have any concerns, please discuss them instead of reverting. You'd be shocked what cordial discussion can accomplish over blunt force editing. And if someone asks you a question, please don't just remove it from your talk page or ignore it. If you ever have any questions about something, you can ask me.
Please know that you may be reblocked if you edit war again. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:42, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, as I said I won't behave so ... and yes I will ask you in some situations --g. balaxaZe 10:59, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I feel like this can be made to work for everyone's benefit. Cheers to all (for now). mr.choppers (talk)-en- 02:22, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Georgian plates[edit]

I extracted this from one of your uploads. Could you possibly take a better picture of one of the new style Georgian plates? Thanks, mr.choppers (talk)-en- 19:22, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good job mr.choppers, this is the example of proposed design of plates, but still they're not available, it will be realised in Autumn, then (if I'll be unblocked to that time :/) I'll take another one, be sure. Thanks. --g. balaxaZe 09:58, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm obviously entirely uninvolved with your block and so on, but another editor found a source and I updated the relevant article accordingly. Would you be able to find another source for the earlier license plate systems? I am less familiar with Georgian than with any other language in the world, so I have a hard time researching the topic.
As for getting unblocked, I suggest refocusing on other issues and getting a halfway decent camera - we need some photos from Georgia for sure! mr.choppers (talk)-en- 00:01, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
By this license {{PD-GE-exempt}} you can upload from police.ge web-site photos below. With regard to "the earlier license plate systems" this days I have no enough time, but as soon as I'll have, I'll look for it... --g. balaxaZe 16:48, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Mr.choppers: here is written (PLATE NUMBERS) some information about current license plates, but I think they are not very usefull for Wiki, another source is here: Vehicles mandatory registration rules it consists large and interesting information but unfortunately I've found it only in Georgian version. --g. balaxaZe 20:11, 2 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Lots of good stuff here! I will delve in deeper as soon as I have some time off. Cheers, mr.choppers (talk)-en- 02:22, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Personal question[edit]

I noticed you said you come from Europe, however you also said you were born in Georgia. This made me very confused because Georgia is an Asian country, not only geographically but also culturally. So, I just wanted to ask you about that. --KronosLine (talk) 03:25, 18 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

First of all geographically Europe is a peninsula of the Eurasian continent, and the second what did you mean when you said not culturally. What is European culture in Your mind and what do You know particullary about Georgian culture?--g. balaxaZe 19:52, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Abkhazia[edit]

I advise you to stop changing my image descriptions. I'm planning to upload hundreds of images from Abkhazia and I don't want to change my image descriptions every time. I know what I'm doing (I've got political science education and I read lots about conflict between Georgia and Abkhazia), and I know where I have been. Also, I conducted many conversations with the Georgians (older than you, people that remember collapse of Soviet Union and the times of war). And even though I love Georgia, unlike you I know the difference between de facto and de iure status of Abkhazia and in my images I show de facto, real picture of what you can see. You may not accept this (and from your profile I can say, that you don't) but I upload my images and you shouldn't change my descriptions on the basis of YOUR political vision. Of course, you can use my images on the Georgian Wikipedia with yours descriptions. Regards, --Halavar (talk) 22:35, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
