Thanks for uploading File:Bay duiker.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

File:T-70 X-wing fighter.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Breve fra Helvede

I hope you don't mind a quick question. Can you take a look at File:Breve fra Helvede.jpg? Is there any way to tell if this is the first edition? The article at en.wiki (Letters from Hell) says there were 12 editions in 1866. Thanks for your time. INeverCry 01:58, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

Hmm, no, at the bottom it only says "Copenhagen. In commission at G. E. C. Gad. An English translation. London, Richard Bentley's publishing house. 1866.
Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate your taking the time to look at this. I'll just have to stick with "1866 title page" as a caption/description. INeverCry 16:35, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

Deinocheirus reconstruction

I sent a message to the original artist on whether or not he's open to suggestions. If he agrees, what can I tell him about the arm feathers? Did they sprout from the middle finger also, like with dromaeosaurs? -Mariomassone (talk) 10:25, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

It seems to be restored in different ways, since only quill knobs are known. Darren Naish writes a bit about it in the middle of this article:[1] In any case, it is always best to post such restorations in the dinosaur art review[2] or the paleoart review[3] before adding. Restoring a deleted image

Hi FunkMonk. I was wondering why File:Nemegtosaurus mongoliensis skull by bricksmashtv.jpg was deleted without discussion. The author is Bricksmashtv, and he has a divinatory account, which states his name is Gunnar Bivens (the copyright symbol says that name). Also, I am currently working with him and someone else (another good sauropod guy) on a paper (no leaking details, but its about a certain group of under appreciated sauropods). I can get an email from him to forward to the wiki to confirm he releases the copyright, but as it can be very easily confirmed, simply by checking his deviantart for a journal complaining about the images deletion, and I was hoping you could restore it, with your superhuman commons admin powers. Thanks, IJReid (talk) 01:03, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

Just restored it, but I think it should be made clearer that the uplaoder is the artist, by writing his real name, if possible... Seems the deleting amdin was confused since the signature is different form the uploader name. On another note, it seems the artist has been basing skeletals too closely on other works:[4] FunkMonk (talk) 08:39, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, the Padillasaurus is a little too close for comfort. Also, the person in question is actually good friends with Nima Sassani, which is why he is basing most of his skeletals on a similar style. IJReid (talk) 00:04, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

Hello FunkMonk

What is the connection between my palaeontological derivative works and the "no FOP" ? : I'm not an artist with copyrights. I'm only a science mediator (see here [5]) and a not creative illustrator provider for the Natural History Museum of my town (see here [6]). My works ARE NOT ART. This are only some palaeontological restorations, and any restauration is not a creative work, but must thereby being in order to stay within the limits of what is allowed by researchers at the time it is made, and must necessarily be derivated from other pictures already scientifically proved. If one confused the artistic creative process and this scientific derivative process of « conjecturally reconstituted being » (whose most impressive examples are the « real size Dinosaurs » sitting proeminently in the gardens or in the front square of various Museums, or else prehistorical Hominidae presented in dioramas by many Museums), this one will consider as « inaccurate » and/or as a « copyviol », the whole of the artist's views, of the computer-generated images, of the volumic restorations, and Paleontology, Archaeology or Naval history will be deprived of all its iconography intended for general public, apart from the scientific pictures in specialized magazines, that will evade this iconographical « cleaning », possibly concerning even some great masters as Mauricio Antón, Dimitri Bogdanov, Zdeněk Burian, Heinrich Harder or Charles R. Knight, as says one of my collegues. Someone delete even File:Zaneboni-1.jpg despite the sending of this Museum <museedesfossilesdetourtour@gmail.com> on Fri, 15 Jan 2016 18:37:36 +0100 to : "permissions-commons-fr@wikimedia.org" <permissions-commons-fr@wikimedia.org>, about this image : Le musée des fossiles de Tourtour a autorisé Ion Cepleanu à créer la page Wikipédia du musée. Brice Delahoche, animateur culturel. So, now I'm expecting the deletion of all my uploadings, even my own drawings or models as the Compsognathus of Toulon. I'm retired now out of Wiki, but before this, I wrote under a lot of Nobu's drawings in the french Wiki : "artist's view by Nobu Tamura". So I contribued to his good reputation. Now, you can delete Aegirocassis if Nobu wants it, but my works in the Natural History Museum of Toulon [7] where I'm working as a provider, are not artworks, and not derivative since Nobu or others. You can ask the opinion of the curator François Dusoulier < fdusoulier@var.fr > (he speaks perfectly english). Farewell, --Spiridon Ion Cepleanu (talk) 20:02, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

The images are problematic for different reasons, as I have explained already in multiple places. Please continue the discussion in those places where I have already explained this. The most serious issue is to directly copy the works of other users without any attribution. FunkMonk (talk) 20:03, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
