Luda Sokolova media files

Dear Deniss,

could you please explain in simple words, what else should I do in order to prevent you from deleting my media files?

I'm officialy employed by the Russian Singer Luda Sokolova, so I have the right to distrubuite her photoes, videos and music files. Besides, she herself wrote an e-mail of the requested template to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org:

"I hereby assert that I am the creator and/or sole owner of the exclusive copyright of WORK http://www.ludasokolova.com. I agree to publish that work under the free license CC-BY, CC-BY-SA I acknowledge that I grant anyone the right to use the work in a commercial product, and to modify it according to their needs, as long as they abide by the terms of the license and any other applicable laws.

I am aware that I always retain copyright of my work, and retain the right to be attributed in accordance with the license chosen. Modifications others make to the work will not be attributed to me. I am aware that the free license only concerns copyright, and I reserve the option to take action against anyone who uses this work in a libelous way, or in violation of personality rights, trademark restrictions, etc. I acknowledge that I cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the work may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.

thanks for the answer.

Hekerui (talk) 16:22, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Jerusalem image

I'm not very computer literate. You sent me a message about permission for the image. Jerusalem was my band and I am responsible for everything to do with it. Recordings, biogs, photos, images etc. Not sure what it is I'm supposed to do? It's the album cover. Just wanted it to appear next to the Jerusalem Wik site on searches, but seem to have done that wrong as well. Maybe it's too big.

Please no changes or notes in the original description! It's an historical document. You can add it under the box like the polish text.

Trying to upload a photo

Hey. I'm new on commons and was trying to upload a photo - File:AnuragBasu.jpg - from a site called bollywoodhungama.com which was earlier called Indiafm.com. Indiafm.com had the OTRS ticket 2008030310010794. Now, i've uploaded the photo but i havent sent an email for permission or any other email. can u plz tell me:

a) what to do next? b) send an email to whom? c) what to write in that email?

It'd be a really big help if u sort these things out for me. Plz refer to my page. --Enigmaticanant (talk) 16:43, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

I've uploaded two photographs I've taken of Maryum Azmi, maryum_azmi.jpg and maryum_azmi2.jpg. I think I've updated them with the required tags, so please don't delete them. If the tag I've entered is not the correct one then please do let me know.

Thanks,

I took those photographs myself and added copyright information. Can you tell me which copyright templates I was supposed to use?

The Early Hours - "A Week & A Day" and "Falling Elevators" images. You took them down? I work for the band and own the copyright to all the images. What do I need to do to have those images up so they can be included in the Wiki entry for the artist?

I planned on deleting it myself but there's no delete button here so I just made the best of it and filled up every box needed

You may delete it as soon as possible if you wish. Please don't have any discussions about it, just delete it right away because I don't want google or any other search engine to pick this up in it's searches. Angdl (talk) 19:24, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Permission for pictures

HEllo, I posted some pictures (some a while ago) and you asking me to give you the permission of the author of the picture. Since I AM the author, it seems really difficult to me to get a permission for someone else. Thanks for removing this tag.

I am in the process of getting OTRS Permissions for that image.

OK. I give up. I was trying to expand on an article by providing photo's. The article is on me. The photo's are mine. I have authorized them for public domain. You have the information and the photo's uploaded. If you would like to allow them to be viewed, please stop deleting them. If there is a better place to send me to upload photo's or authorize the photo's I have uploaded for public domain, I will do that. I apologize for not being as technically proficient as I should be, and I'm sure this is a common issue. It's just frustrating.

"Can be used for Wikipedia" is nice but it's not compatible with Commons:Licensing nor is it accepted by most other Wikis unless under fair use. Commons require more then this like modification, commercial reuse and the explicit release under a free license. --12:44, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Could you please be so kind and write down something for me that works and is compatible with Commons:Licensing and will be accepted? I will copy and paste it to http://www.ycr.diehl.ws/news.html (see #4!!!). Modification, commercial reuse and the explicit release under a free license... That´s all ok. Just give me something perfect to use, as I don´t know how to do it. Thank you very much for your help!! Party diktator (talk) 18:04, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Please read Commons:Licensing. I'd suggest releasing them under GFDL (statement may read like "all artwork and photos are available under GFDL"), it makes using for Wikipedia rather easy but commercial reuse is a bit harder in comparison to using a Creative Commons license. The other option would be to remove that statement from your website and write an explicit permission with the license type of your choice to the permission e-mail link given inside the no permisison notices on your user talk page. --Denniss (talk) 10:46, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm wondering why you tagged File:Sealinkup.JPG as missing permission. The claimed author is the uploader. Do they need to verify the permission with there self? I'm curious what the problem is with this image, and what you think the uploader needs to do to fix the issue. Thanks.-Andrew c (talk) 22:16, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

MARMALADE photo - problems attaching file.

Hello - I am new to WIKI editing and am a total novice.

I am trying to attach a photo of the band, which I own, and took, in London in 1970 I have tried this on three different occasions, thinking it was ok, but I keep receiving messages requesting additional info, all of which looks very complicated on how exactly this should be done.

Is it possible for you to provide an idiot proof step by step guide on how to actually do this, either by revising the existing info or by starting again?

I would be very grateful

Hello, I want to know who this "Denniss" person is who keeps saying that MY photos OF MYSELF, which were EDITED BY MY PHOTOGRAPHERS AND MYSELF are somehow a "copyright violation" or a "personality" violation?? I also had an accusation that one of MY own photos of MYSELF, that I EDITED/FILTERED MYSELF with an "old film" filter add-on in Irfanview is "obviously scanned"!!!! What!!?? Who are you anyway and what gives you the right to make ANY JUDGEMENTS WHATSOVER about my own photos??? Reply Denniss!!?? I have already had to deal for quite a few years with takers like YOU (ie: posts OTHER people's photos and work....) stealing my owrk on Flickr and quite a few websites that I have been able to track down, including on here!! Wikipedia actually has a user on here RIGHT NOW that has my stolen photos in his gallery. Does anyone have any responses or maybe some APOLOGIES for ME?? Peace, Loretta

Hello Deniss, I found this pictures both with the: "Yahoo Creative Commons Search" this means these files aren't a copyright violation. Please stop removing them. --JasperDerikx (talk) 16:20, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

It's irrelevant how you found them. The only relevance is the author of the image and the license the image is available under, as licensed by the author. Both images lack this information. --Denniss (talk) 20:17, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey there

Why does it cannot be used under creative common's license? It fall's under creative common licence's definition. UnholyFreezz (talk) 20:35, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Because an image is not free just because it's uploaded to Flickr and available with a free license. We often had new accounts at Flickr uploading unfree/unsourced images to Flickr just to upload them here on Commons. Flickr is not a whitewash for images, wiping out the history of this image. --Denniss (talk) 13:20, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Image Names

The reason I wanted to change the name was due to Kallerna's vote in this FP vote. While the DOD serials do serve a purpose, they aren't the most searcher friendly, and they make sub-standard names for featured pictures. Perhaps we can come to a compromise here. How about we retain the DOD number in the description (which most pictures have already), while changing the name? Sarcastic ShockwaveLover (talk) 15:23, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Hmmm, strange comment as the image name adds or subtracts nothing to/from the image quality. If you want a new name add it in front of the numbering system, would be the best compromise. --Denniss (talk) 17:20, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Another indication that naming is important when submitting an FP. Is there really any reason to include the serial number in the title? There is no legal requirement to do so. I doubt anyone would be searching for images by serial number, and even if they were, it is in the description, which is also searched. To my view, it serves no purpose, and prevents easy naming. Perhaps we should get a third party to referee, if we can't agree. Sarcastic ShockwaveLover (talk) 18:33, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

You may want to comment here. I'd certainly appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Sarcastic ShockwaveLover (talk) 12:24, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Greetings. Thanks for the message. Can I have some more information? I don't see any evidence of copyright violation. I just fixed the licence as the bot suggested.--Lykantrop (talk) 17:01, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

I stumbled across this Flickr uploader several days ago. But I thought this uploader was listed as untrusted user thus the Flickrreview script should not have passed his image. If you need more information just visit the Flickr account and browse through the images and you'll find lots of copyvios. --Denniss (talk) 19:35, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I saw that some pictures from that uploader are copyright violation, but does this make automatically all the other pictures useless as well? If yes, then allright. If no, I think that this certain photo was not a copyright violation, because it was a non-proffesional, low-resolution photo of that person on a press conference, which could not be found anywhere else on the internet.
I am simply not perfectly familiar with all policies of Commons, so I would only like to know whether all of the pictures of that uploader are useless because some of them are copyvios. In both cases, thanks :) --Lykantrop (talk) 07:31, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Uploaded photos (1) Mirkwood (band) (2) Neil Landon

I note comments to the effect that neither of these photos which I recently uploaded has sufficient 'source' information. I confess I do not understand this because I am sure I made it clear when completing the upload forms that both photos were my property (In one case I took the photo myself and in the other got a friend to take it for me). I said I was happy for them to be regarded as in the public domain. I don't know what or how to do anything else but would be happy to do more if I could be helped to understand the problem. Thank you.Mainmiguel (talk) 21:15, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

File:Su85 jagdpanzer.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi! The uploader of these two photos contacted Wikimedia OTRS (ticket 2009051010021272) and said he is the author of those two pictures. I see no reason not to believe him so I've decided to remove your Source templates. As for the other images he uploaded, he failed to provide a valid licence so I will ask for their deletion. Categorize and Prove Liscence of images

Hi Denniss

I recently made a page on Wikipedia entitled 'None The Less' and I used a photo from their website, which I was given permission to use

I dont have any legal documentation, it is literally just a verbal contract. I understand I have to email my proof of permission to 'permissions-commons@wikimedia.org'

Is a forwarded, informal email message, acceptable as proof, as otherwise I have no other

Many Thanks

Charlotte

File:21_Britons.png

How can I correctly licence this image? The persons in it were used after alot of debate at the English version of Wikipedia, so it would be terrible for this image to go. I think I may have misunderstood the licencing, but I understood that the images are eligable for display, adaptation and modification if stored and attributed accurately at Wikimedia Commons? Jza84 (talk) 20:53, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

You have to use either PD images with GFDL images or PD images with CC images, you can't combine GFDL and CC images unless they are dual-licensed with GFDL and a CC license (the re-user may choose between GFDL or CC). --Denniss (talk) 20:56, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Why is this? I'm a little confused; if Wikimedia commons stores freely usable media files, and I've used them (and creditted their authors) as a source, shouldn't they be compatible? Is there anyway I can relicence/multilicence the image? GFDL grants permission to "copy, distribute and/or modify" and CC grants permission to "adapt and display", are they not able to be combined? Jza84 (talk) 21:02, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
You cant't use a license the source image was not released under unless it's a PD image. It's the same as if you upload your own image under GFDL and someone uses them at his own website stating it was released as PD, thus not crediting you as author or adding the information required by the GFDL license. --Denniss (talk) 06:04, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, I haven't claimed to have released the image(s) as PD; I've been very careful to credit the original licence(s) and author(s) if you look at the sourcing. However, the whole deletion request may be redundant within an hour or so -- the two GFDL images are going to be eligable to be avaliable under CC as of the 15th June 2009, meaning all of them are of a truly compatible licencing agreement, as all will be Creative Commons sourced images. Hi Dennis,

why did you mark a copyright violation at ; http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Adams_Venture_(8).JPG and http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Adams_Venture_(4).JPG and http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Adam's_Venture_-White_background_-_Large.JPG

Since, i'm the rightful owner of these pictures (me = founder or Vertigo Games / Developer of Adam's Venture)

could you "un-mark-criteria for speedy deletion." on these pictures a.s.a.p

thanks,

Please read and understand Commons:OTRS, those images need a permission from the copyright holder also specifying the license they are available under. --Denniss (talk) 07:41, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello again

I have sent a permission to OTRS through Outlook and Hotmail Could you help me a bit more now so we can have this photo uploaded on Yohanna's page! Could you be kind enough to check if OTRS has approved or something!

Thank You Greatly

File:T.7-6_CASA_C-207_Azor.jpg

Hi Deniss, I sent the following e-mail to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org

Hi guys,

regarding permission to upload File:T.7-6_CASA_C-207_Azor.jpg, please find below a twitter conversation (in Spanish) dated November 2008 between myself and the copyright owner (Roberto Plá, @rpla).

Request for permission to upload in Wikipedia: http://twitter.com/aergenium/status/989962565

Permission granted by author: http://twitter.com/rpla/status/992574520

Author informed that photo is uploaded, and questioned about license terms http://twitter.com/aergenium/status/999214399

Confirmation from author (open license type not allowed by Flickr, complemented with note) http://twitter.com/rpla/status/1000378339 Foto added to corresponding articles, and thankyou to the author: http://twitter.com/aergenium/status/999219786

In case of doubt, please check original image (http://www.flickr.com/photos/16652278@N00/1919992851)

The author added the following note (highlighted in bold):

"Licencia: Fotografia cedida al dominio público a fin de que pueda ser usada en la Wikipedia."

This roughly translates: "Photograph placed to public domain so that it can be used in Wikpedia"

Hope this is enough.

Thank you!

Hallo Denniss,

Lang ist's her .... .

Denniss-

The photograph you challenged is owned by the office of Senator Noland and is part of the public domain. There is no proprietary ownership on official photographs of public officials. They belong to the people of their respective governments. Even IF a private entity did take the photograph FOR another person, under United States Copyright laws, they relinquish the right of ownership to the second party (the party the photo was for.)

Fiumani's photo

Hello, this is my first upload in Commons so probably I don't know perfectly how it works. I wrote me (Antenor81) as author and "own work" as source, but you said there is no source and author, so what kind of information have I got to write there to make everything right? Thank you. --Antenor81 (talk) 11:52, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

I put there other information about author and source, what is still missing? Sorry if I disturb you but I'd like doing what necessary to make the missing source template removed --Antenor81 (talk) 21:02, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi! Sorry for mu precarious english...

I Know that this logo is a copyright violation, but in the Spanish Wikipedia is not permitted the fair use. Is this the reason for my upload. Probably this logo has been eliminated. Thanks--Jlechuga86 (talk) 22:37, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Fair use is a no-go here too. --Denniss (talk) 10:54, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

The Mentalist Icons

Those icons that I uploaded are my own property, and I made them myself!

They are for public viewing and are not copyrighted. The images I use come from sites like The Mentalist's fan wiki, so they are free use images.

So stop trying to delete them all!

Penelope-Ziva (talk) 11:38, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

You have to provide a link showing the image is indeed free. Remember no copyright notice does not mean it's free of copyright as this has to be explicitely stated. --Denniss (talk) 21:29, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

If you look at the history of this image, I'm not the original uploader. That was Nekroskop as you can see here. What I did was undo an upload by Srg0782 which put a new image in place of the old one which looked like a CD cover. I'd check with him for permissions. Tabercil (talk) 05:42, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

The authors rights are being respected with the proper licenses. The image is inelegible for copyright beucase it consists of only simple tex and simple geometric shape. So it doens't meet the threshold of originality. That's why it is {{PD-textlogo}}, {{PD-shape}} and {{Trademark}}. Commons accepts this kinda of logo, see Image_casebook Trademarks and a DR about a logo. If you still have any complaint about this, please open a DR for it. These images are not yours. It's a common policy the use the original sized image for modifications. And if these changes are controversal please upload the file under a new name and post a link from the original image. This has to be done to avoid the problems your are currenly having as your uploads/mods are nearly always reverted, probably not only because of the size issue. --Denniss (talk) 13:23, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Better source request for Image:F-15 Su30 Mir2000.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:F-15 Su30 Mir2000.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the help desk or me at my talkpage. Thank you. High Contrast (talk) 18:05, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

File:VanFan09-2.JPG

This photo is authorized by both the photographer and the person in the photo (Van) for me to upload it to Wiki. It is free of charge for usage for any purpose. I helped them to upload it only for they won't have time to do it. I don't know where to specify such information -- I tried many times and find it difficult to understand the rules for I am new to creative commons.

Originally I set it wrong as NC but then soon I corrected it. However, it seems the history still recorded that. The license should be {{Cc-by-2.0}} and the same setting in Flickr has already been changed.

I had already added the text of free of charge usage in the image description and updated the permission. Please let me know if I still to do anything else (van.angel520@yahoo.com.hk)

Thank you. Angel

Comment

I don't know if photoman's permission applies to this image but that is besides the point. If it did not apply to this image, then it could be deleted at any time. I would not ask for an undeletion of the image below if Admin Para's computerised program in late 2006/early 2007 didn't show its flickr license was indeed 'cc by 2.0' on October 9, 2006. So, I am removing the OTRS tag...when the Admin license change evidence is clear enough.

This image was listed for speedy deletion as it was lacking a source. I located another version of the same photo from 2007, but it is not the one you uploaded in 2005. Hi Denniss, I've converted your cv-speedies for File:Donald Braswell in 2008.jpg and File:Legato Cover.jpg into no-permission and asked the uploader to provide permission. That the images are promo-shotos is no problem from scope IMHO, as long as we have a permission. Cheers. --Túrelio (talk) 07:52, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Denniss!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Bquillacollage.PNG

Don't get it. My username is clearly there, as well as the type of licence. Besides, the collage was formed from previously uploaded (legal) images.--Jdvillalobos (talk) 04:27, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Where's the link to the images ? You have to link these source images, also remember to check the license of these images as they have to be compatible to PD. --Denniss (talk) 16:45, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
The link to the images? What is that? As I said, the images that form the collage are previously uploaded (legal) images by me, by the way. I thought that to create a collage I only had to yuxtapose a number of images as I did. What I do admit is that if any image of the collage has a different licence from the one I assigned to it, I have to change the licence of the collage. Don't worry, I'm going not gonna wear myself out, maybe I'll check other collages to see how they made them, if I don't get to fix the problem within the 7-day deadline, simply do your job.--Jdvillalobos (talk) 21:15, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

--Martin H. (talk) 02:51, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi Denniss!

I've uploaded some images of me to my own page, since I'm the presenter and producer of the tv shows appearing on the page, I ,of course, don't mind of publishing my pictures. I really tried hard and got finally confused of understanding how things should go here in wikipedia, it's so complicated! But in simple words.. all the images uploaded recently are taken by me, or I own them, or for my own shows.

Thanx for your understanding efforts.

Speedy deletion

I noticed you tagged an image I uploaded with the speedy deletion tag. You are probably right that it is copyrighted, but the site clearly stated that "the copyrightholder allows anyone to use it for any purpose, provided that the insect on the photo is correctly identified and the source of the photo is properly identified." I thought that would make it okay to use it. But technically, it is still copyrighted off course. Is there any other way I could still use it on wikipedia? I used it for an article and the copyrightholder seems to be okay with that seeing the message on his own site. Ruigeroeland (talk) 08:35, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Commercial usage of image suploaded to Commons must be permitted, your image was tagged as noncommercial as stated on the source website. --Denniss (talk) 11:53, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Deletion request FYI

Hi, not sure if you're interested at all, but as you were the reverting user in this case, perhaps you would like to vote at the following two deletion requests: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Almendrofolr1.JPG and Commons:Deletion requests/File:Farmaciaderetamal.jpg for uploads by User:Amgc56. Thanks. -- Deadstar (msg) 08:01, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

My Photos

Editor Martin H. has been contacted by me about this matter for my photos to be properly uploaded under the correct license code. My wife shot these videos where my friend pulled the screenshots from, I own these videos. This matter will be corrected asap, thanks for letting me know man! Also I was wondering if these photos have not yet been deleted yet is it possible to use the existing photos and just add the correct license code rather that re-uploaded them all over again. Let me know my friend, sorry bout that. Very much appreciated!

== {{int:filedesc}} ==
{{Information |Description={{fr|1=Insigne régimentaire du 4e Régiment de chasseurs d'Afrique - Type 1.}}
|Source=travail personnel (own work)
|Author=[[User:BrunoLC|BrunoLC]]
|Date=2009-07-26
|Permission=
|other_versions=
}}

<!--{{ImageUpload|full}}-->
[[Category:Military insignia of France]]

there seems to be an edit war going on over bundersarchive pictures. People are adding and deleting the captions on the sides. I regard the images as unusable with captions on as wikipedia does not carry advertising and commons only carries images which can be freely manipulated. Sandpiper (talk) 23:59, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Besten Dank für diesen Edit. Da hat meinerseits wohl ein Fehler eingeschlichen. Gruß, High Contrast (talk) 18:42, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Why do you undo my edit? Paris Hilton was born on Feb. 17, it is logical that belongs to category 17 February.--HombreDHojalata (talk) 22:48, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

File Tagging File:Binho_marques_.jpg

A foto é legal. A foto é licenciada.

Atenciosamente

See site source at the bottom that all content is licensed creative commons, simply by citing the source and is what I did. The picture is nice. The photo is licensed.

Image licensing

The author and the copyright holder of the images has placed info on his website, grating limited permission to use his images online. In the link on each image's talk page I've given the link to the faq of his site where he explains it. Please revert the image licence code. Also, here's the link in question - http://www.goldseven.de/inhalt/faq/inhalt.html#q42 --PrimEviL (talk) 16:29, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

There's stated: Noncommercial use, no altering of images thus nonderivative. Both restrictions are not allowed here. Not enough, these images are derivative works of copyrighted characters. --Denniss (talk) 17:12, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

I was under impression that the fair use is allowed on wikimedia projects... Or that stands only on wikipedia? If I've found a suitable licence, what seems to be the problem here? :S --PrimEviL (talk) 23:59, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Fair use is only allowed on some Wikipedias but never was at Commons. Also you don't have to find a license, the author has to specify a license for reuse of his content. As I said before, these restrictions are not allowed here, neither are derivative works of copyrighted content. --Denniss (talk) 18:53, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Deletion requests discussions you may have missed

Hello Denniss, I am not sure you were notified about the deletion requests for File:Me_210_brit2.jpg and File:Me_210_brit1.jpg. The question seems to be "how do we know these were Crown Copyright?" Can you help? Angus McLellan (Talk) 18:21, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Images uploaded by Evelyn Carswell and relating to Graham Jones films and books

I received some messages from yourself, Justass and Eusebius last night and this morning this morning informing me I had breached copyright - and in the latter case saying that I have done so despite warnings not to.

It's my understanding the matter has now been fully explored and resolved as your colleague Justass requested permissions from the original copyright holder Graham Jones and was sent those permissions very swiftly to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org - I look forward to hearing from you if there are any more issues.

Thanks.

Hi Denniss,
