You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Herby gmin[edit]

Witaj, taka prośba: jeśli ładujesz herby gmin to nazwę podawaj w takim standardzie: "POL gmina XXX COA.svg". Nazwa bez słowa "gmina" jest dla gmin o statusie miasta. Pozdrawiam Poznaniak (dyskusja) 15:15, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Inkscape i inne?[edit]

Witaj, ja używam do wszystkiego Corela i również robię ręcznie. Inkscape wg mnie nie nadaje się do precyzyjnego wykonywania grafiki. Z czasem uzyskasz większą wprawę i będziesz to robił znacznie szybciej. Jednakże nad niektórymi herbami trzeba przysiąść nawet kilka dni. Automatyczna wektoryzacja nigdy nie jest zadowalająca. W podanych przez Ciebie przykładach również robiłem ręcznie a efekt wynika w 1 przypadku z tego, że prawdopodobnie oryginał był robiony częściowo z automatu w 2 z jakości pliku źródłowego. Jedyne pliki, które robiłem automatem to herby województw i guberni Królestwa Polskiego (Category:Coats of arms of Voivodships of Królestwo Polskie, File:KP gubernia warszawska (1845-1866) COA.svg). Żeby uzyskać w miarę zadowalającą dokładność stworzyłem gigantyczne pliki, które ważą jak zwykły .png a nie .svg. Pozdrawiam Poznaniak (dyskusja) 21:02, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Herb Franciszka[edit]

Gdyby poprawiali to bym nie miał nic przeciwko. Problem w tym, że robili to ludzie nie znający się za bardzo na grafice wektorowej ani nie mający za dużych umiejętności plastycznych. Już poprawiłem. Pozdrawiam Poznaniak (dyskusja) 12:21, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Metadane[edit]

Witaj, nie umiem wytłumaczyć dlaczego czasami się pojawia a czasami nie. Widocznie coś zmieniali w oprogramowaniu wiki bo do tej pory wyświetlało w metadanych tylko dane exif dopisane do zdjęć przez aparat fotograficzny. Otwórz plik svg w notatniku i usuń z niego ten fragment "<desc (...)</desc>". Nadpisz plik, może od razu nie zniknąć, czasami mechanizmy wiki wyświetlają stare wersje przez jakiś czas. Inkscpae nie potrafi poprawnie przeliczać z CMYK na RGB, więc nie wpisuj mu wartości gdy masz podane w CMYK a pobieraj wtedy pipetą.[reply]

Hej, dzięki za zwrócenie uwagi. Wrzuciłem przed chwilą poprawioną wersję pliku, która jest zgodna z walidatorem W3C (chociaż to wymaganie wydaje mi się dziwne, skoro nawet oryginalne logo, którego użyłem w mojej wersji, nie waliduje się poprawnie). Przy okazji chciałbym zwrócić uwagę na fakt, że nawet mimo tego, że logo jest teraz zgodne z walidatorem, to nie spełnia ono dwóch innych punktów tego "regulaminu": (1) zostało załadowane na Commons przed 15 lipca i (2) nie jest udostępnione na zasadach licencji GNU FDL 1.3 i CC-BY-SA 3.0.

Jakkolwiek punkt (1) można byłoby uznać za niebyły, skoro przesłałem teraz nową wersję pliku, tak problem (2) jest nierozwiązywalny. Logo Wikipedii nie jest udostępnione na wolnej licencji i stanowi własność Wikimedia Foundation (WMF); oznaczanie dzieł pochodnych od logo należącego do WMF jako objętych licencją GNU FDL i CC-BY-SA jest niepoprawne, a zatem ten punkt regulaminu jest błędny; nie zdziwię się więc, jeśli moje logo — jako niebędące wolnym — zostanie odrzucone. odder (talk) 10:32, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No tak. Dla mnie to żaden problem, tyle, ze sam tych różnic nie dostrzegam, tym bardziej zgłoszonych błędów, bo i nie zaglądam tu zbyt często ostatnio. Dzięki zatem za sygnał, no i w razie kolejnej takiej sytuacji pisz na adres email, który jest podany na moich stronach. Tam wiadomość zobaczę tego samego dnia, tutaj może to potrwać dłużej. Epolety i naramienniki WP[edit]

Mamy pewien problem z epoletami (II RP) I naramiennikami (po 1944) żołnierzy WP. Pierwsze są w kolorze brunatnym, drugie w jakimś takim majtkowo-seledynowym. Ja jestem za ulednoliceniem, bo to wciąż WP, ale jeśli musimy zachować różnicę, to zmieniłbym (w systemie szestnastkowym) epolety na #806000, a naramienniki na #808000. Mógłbyś się tym zająć? Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Dear Blackfish,

The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).

  • In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
  • In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)

We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:

  1. 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.
  2. In second place, 155 people voted for an image of "Sviati Hory" (Holy Mountains) National Park in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.
  3. In third place, 131 people voted for an image of a swallow flying and drinking.

Hejka. Autor projektu tego herbu prosił mnie, żebyś zmienił kolor zielony w tym herbie, bo obecnie jest seledynowy. Prawdopodobną przyczyną błędnego koloru jest według niego to, że programy typu inkscape właściwie nie konwertują barwy z CMYK. Pzdr. Jakub Kaja (✉) 16:29, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
