Kindly correct it, shoudl you feel Varidon should be mentioned. This map is made using, and vastly simplyfying, one of those provided by Apple with its Claris Impact programme's library, as free use (see e.g. http://esce.net). wiki-vr 17:35, 1 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: I have a question concerning Image:Europe North-European countries map.png. Are you claiming you created the original http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Europe_blank_map.png? That link just refers back to the commons image, there is no upload information on it. Has it been renamed or moved somewhere? Or are you using the PD tag to mean you edited an existing image? If so what is the original source of the image you used? Don't get me wrong but the style of that map looks like that those en:User:Varidon used to upload in 2003 as GFDL. You refer to http://esce.net but this has a background map which has less detail. You mention the source map is from "Claris Impact programme's library, as free use", do you mean Claris (now Appleworks I guess) have released the map you used into the public domain? You tagged this image I uploaded with {{Incomplete license}}. – Many web site owners (including museums) will claim that they own public domain stuff, and we cannot accept their word for it. We definitely need more detailed information about copyright regulations in various countries. There are many interesting old photographs with expired copyrights, and we need a way to determine which ones we can use. – Do you have any suggestions how we proceed with Image:Piazza st. peters rome 1909.jpg? I am inclined to move the discussion to the picture's talk page and to remove the incomplete license tag. Thoughts? Rl 09:34, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Commons Scope - Pdf and Djvu files[edit]

I have added some text dealing with these based on the discussion on the talk page. Users are by no means unanimous about which files should be allowed, and I have tried to follow the majority opinion. Thus, the suggestion is that if a Pdf or Djvu file is educationally useful even to a single other Wiki it should be kept. Would you like to comment before this page goes live? RE:no source tags correct?[edit]

Wikibob, as for Image:Parseval PL 18 1913-05-03.jpg you're right and I have restored the image, sorry for any inconvenience. As for the images of Eduardotrinchera (talk · contribs), you can see his talk page full of copyvio warnings. He has 87 deleted edits all of them because uploading copyright violations. Every single image he upload, he sources at "own work" and license it under GFDL. Take a look at: Image:Escudo de huánuco.jpg, Image:Ciudad de Huánuco.jpg (low-resolution and no exif data), Image:AvenueJavierPrado.jpg (exif data of a Sony Cibershot), Image:Arequipacity.JPG (low-res, no exif data), Image:Lima expressway.jpg (low-res, no exif data), and so on. His deleted contribs has exif data with multiple cameras, Sony Cibershot, Nikon, Panasonic, etc. I don't think this images worth a DR, and I placed the no source tags just to wait 7 days for user clarification before deletion. Frankly I have no information concerning author of this postcard. Apparently the name given is publishers. Thanks for a hint concerning PD-Old. I changed the template to Anonymous-EU. The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools.
