Please help replace this outdated license[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Well, in the next post you have: "well, it would be better to specify that the engine is opensource, but not the assets. Then it would be clear". And on the page you linked there is only info about "releasing its source code to the public". Removing license tags[edit]

Please do not remove license tags when tagging as a copyvio, such as File:Don antonio nirta scalzone la maggiore san luca.jpg, even when you believe that the license tag is clearly wrong. The patrolling admin needs to see what license or copyright status is being claimed by the uploader to see if the claim is plausible, and removing the license tag makes it more difficult by forcing the admin to check the page history. This has resulted in mistakes being made in the past, such as Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive 86#Commons:Deletion requests/File:Semafor wjazdowy do stacji Wałbrzych Szczawienko.jpg. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 01:26, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Valepert. Thank you for uploading the Mappa_Teletype_ASR-33. It helped me confirm a hypothesis I had with the history of ASCII.

There is a small problem with the file. It has two keys for colons. Clearly one of them should be a semicolon. I think the "+"/":" one is supposed to be "+"/";".
