Dislocations

Nice (dislocation) photo's Twisp. Would it be more correct to say that the photo' shows etch pits in silicon, resulting from the preferential attack of the highly strained lattice regions around the dislocation core? A magnification of 500x seems extremely low to be showing the dislocations themselves. 200.141.112.78 20:40, 17 September 2005 (UTC)

It would be more correct, but I didn't think that it was necessary to repeat this description for every image. I'm leaving this job to someone, who will write an article using these images. I've already put them to wikipedia article on dislocations with a comment similar to yours and I think, that whoever will use these images to illustrate an article, will put a similar comment.

Category:Graphic Tool

Hi. PLease don't add the drinkware sillouettes to the Graphic Tool category. That category is for images which are really usefull to use again and again such as the wikiman/wiki couple and worldmaps. /Lokal_Profil 12:38, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading svg format images [2], [3] and [4]. I have tried uploading svg format images before, but wasn't as successful. Here are some other images that I have uploaded, but could not get them to display properly in svg format. If you feel it's worth your time and effort please do convert them to svg format.

Hi Twisp

Thanks for you contribution of the illustration Image:Amplifier Circuit Small.svg. I have looked at it, and it seems that a capacitor is missing in series with R7. Only if a GND was held at (+Vsupply)/2 could it be DC-connected to GND. Major image loss

Hello,

A mistake from developer Tim Starling resulted in the accidental deletion of 496 full-resolution images. A list of the affected images at Wikimedia Commons was made by PatrícaR and can be found here. As one of your images was found on the list, I'm asking you if you could re-upload the image Enneagram as an octave.svg from your hard disk, with the comment Restoring image, see [http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/commons-l/2008-September/004148.html].

Dear Twisp, I am sorry to say that I removed your images from the streamlines article. I am afraid that the level of detail was too high to nicely convey with just a static image: a dynamical concept benefits I find from an animation. I hope you are not offended. Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
