Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

License of Estonian kroon coins[edit]

Hi! What prompted you to replace {{EEK coin}} with {{PD-EE-exempt}} for EEK coins? As far as I know banknotes and coins are not exempt from copyright in Estonia? —Quibik (talk) 16:22, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In this list banknotes and coins are not directly identified as copyright protected objects, meanwhile official symbols of the state and insignia of organisations (flags, coats of arms, orders, medals, badges, etc.) (5.5) are not copyrighted objects --Tigran Mitr am (talk) 06:43, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicates — file type differs[edit]

Hi. You marked a number of JPG files of Lithuanian coins as duplicates to the PNG equivalents. JPGs and PNGs are not seen as duplicates, even of the same image. Generally they are address by adding {{superseded|destination.png}}, or if you think that they should be delteed, they would need to go through a normal deletion request, though they can all be grouped in the one request for such a set of images. — billinghurst sDrewth 09:50, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

gif -> png[edit]

Unfortunately GIF files are not exact duplicates of PNG files, as per the deletion policy for duplicates. Instead we use {{SupersededPNG}} to indicate that there is a better file to use, though still leave the choice to the individuals fo what they want to use. — billinghurst sDrewth 13:48, 31 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File:KZ 50 tenge 2014 Kokpar.png and others[edit]

I had renamed some of your files, because it was the Uploader's request (when you rename your own uploads you should use Criterion#1).
But I think there is something wrong in this naming system. The files should have descriptive and easy-to-find-in-browser names: any shortcuts are not welcome. We upload files for other people, not for ourselves -- and we should make them easy to find.

Please see images in categories Category:Commemorative coins of Georgia, Category:Commemorative coins of Lithuania, Category:Commemorative coins of Moldova and others. Most of them was renamed in this system, and I try to renamed this according to the description of objects, which are depicted on coins, in English language + in ALL previous cases images was renamed --Tigran Mitr am (talk) 16:19, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There are many files with bad file names on Commons. We will gradually improve them. But the new files should be described in a better way.

Portuguese escudo[edit]

Don't need, in most cases you get a dump, when half of the files categorized by currency, the other half - in coins and banknotes by counry, it partially refers to one another, duplicates and forms a mess. Вот так делать тоже не надо, поскольку есть {{Catredirect}} или, на крайний случай, {{Disambig}} в пространстве категорий. А ломать историю правок, входящие ссылки с Викиданных и т.п. на этом сайте не надо, эти вещи любят на другом сайте. I see that this talk page is becoming quite long. It is rather difficult to navigate & edit, weighing in at 869 kB file size and 56 kB wikitext, and includes too many templates. Some old browsers may have problems editing pages approaching or longer than 32kb. Please archive this talk page in accordance with the guidelines laid out here. Fix for template problem[edit]

Hi, your user talk page currently has too many templates in it for the system to cope with transcluding. Hi, based on discussion at the administraor's noticeboard and at the village pump, there is a consensus to go ahead with adding user talk pages like this one that have exceeded the maximum transclusion count to be processed by the talk page trimmer. These changes should make your talk page more readable without losing any content, and other users have asked to be added to this housekeeping task for this reason.
