Coat of arms of the Olav Thon Foundation

I'll write to you in English so that more people can understand, even though we both speak Norwegian
I came across the coat of arms of the Thon Foundation. The file description page claims that this can not be copyrighted as an "official Norwegian coat of arms". I can not understand that this is correct. As I understand this is not an official coat of arms, but just an ordinary logo made to look like a coat of arms. Therefore I can not see that this is andy different from other logos that are copyrighted. Bw 3s (talk) 08:28, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

File:Location European Union.svg

Hello.

Can you add South Sudan in File:Location European Union.svg and in other similar diplomatic relations SVG maps where it is missing?

Can you also add South Sudan in File:Anglican C., Porvoo C., Utrecht Union.svg, File:Map of Pirate Parties International Members.svg, File:Space Launch Capability.svg, File:Lusophone World.svg, File:Map of African Development Bank Members.svg, File:Map of Pirate Parties.svg, File:Map of Pirate Parties International Members.svg, File:Map of Pirate Parties International.svg and File:Blu-ray regions without key.svg?

I am adding South Sudan (as well as Montenegro and other possible missing updates) in the PNG maps in Category:Maps needing South Sudan political boundaries and then remove this category after updating them. There were close to 1100 maps since I started to update these files on 1 March 2018, now it is reduced to less than 640 maps, but there is a long way to go.

Unfortunately I don't know how to edit SVG maps myself, that is why I asked you.

Kindest regards.

Deleting Category:Small-sized coats of arms

Hello Ssolbergj, sorry but this is vandalism, without any comment. So have you any discussion or consensus for this? -- User: Perhelion 10:33, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi. This was done in good faith because the category in question, which had only a few images, was redundant/did not have any rational purpose/a pure distraction. Most of the tens of thousands of coats of arms that have been uploaded to Commons are escutheons anyway. (The title 'small coats of arms' is also really quite poor in heraldic terms.) I added the more conventional and useful category 'Coats of arms to be classified' to the category's contents (a few images). - Ssolbergj (talk) 10:37, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
I agree the Cat makes not much sense (or has not gone to useful usage), a possible discussion was here (2012). So may a better/ proper replacement would be Category:Images uploaded at reduced resolution. At best, a possible deletion should be mentioned in the heradic project. I count 124 files which you removed/ replaced. For the age of this Cat, this could be indeed few. PS: The point is, we need a clear documented reason for deletions/ removements or general admin actions. -- User: Perhelion 11:23, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Help on make Vietnam SVG map Orthographic projections

Hello Ssolbergj, could you please help us on making a Vietnam locator SVG map as a part of Grey-green orthographic projections maps? We have a similarity file with name File:VietnamInTheWorld.svg, but it should be better to have an official version of orthographic projection, with green mark of Vietnam. Also the current version of VietnamInTheWorld.svg violation our POV because it make full red of dispute islands on South-China Sea, and shouldnt be using in article. In the case the map also show dispute islands as en:Sparty Island and en:Paracel Islands, then it should be have different color as lighter green in File:People's Republic of China (orthographic projection).svg. Thank you very much. --minhhuy (talk) 08:38, 6 October 2018 (UTC)

Could you create an orthographic projection of the Australian continent from File:Australia (orthographic projection).svg without Tasmania and the offshore islands for Australia (continent)? Thanks, Buaidh (talk) 18:11, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

File:WP1 0 Icon.svg requires updating

Hi Ssolbergj,
Thank you for your contributions to Commons. I noticed File:WP1 0 Icon.svg is out of date. It still uses the old Wikipedia logo from 2003–2010, and still uses the Hoefler Text font. Could you update it? Thanks again. –User456541 17:29, 27 December 2018 (UTC)

EU COA Series North Macedonia

Hello Ssolbergj, due to the recent Macedonia-Greece agreement, it seems North Macedonia may be joining the European Union soon. But North Macedonia still lacks an official traditional Coat of Arms.
In the event that North Macedonia joins the EU, for the EU Coat of Arms series, do you think the proposed "Or, a lion gules", or the current arms of the N.Macedonian president "Gules, naissant from a bezant fimbriated of the last, eight piles Or all within a bordure diminished compony the first and the second" should be used?
(Or is it dumb to discuss this until North Macedonia actually joins the EU) -Thespoondragon (talk) 17:41, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Thespoondragon. I think encyclopedically, original research should be avoided. Thus Macedonia doesn't have a national coat of arms (at least one in accordance with heraldic rules, rather than communist symbolism) at present. This will change if the 2014 proposal is approved by parliament. - Ssolbergj (talk) 21:46, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Old of the Council of Europe

Hello! Would you be able to make a svg-version of this flag? It is the 1953 version on the flag of the Council of Europe. It should have 15 stars and not the usual 12. The color should be light blue. It should certainly be the same bright blue and yellow color as the Swedish flag. Do you also want to make sure that the stars are more symmetrical on the svg version than it does on this image? Do you have the opportunity to arrange this? Thanks in advance!--Bruno Rosta (talk) 01:37, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

yellow outside border

Hi, thank you for vectoring this coat of arms. Should this Coat of arms not have a yellow outside border? Wit yekkiw border it is used here or here. You know what I mean? --Calle Cool (talk) 10:30, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi! Such a golden external border is ornamentation that is not required for this arms to be heraldically valid, and omitting it in this case brings the arms stylistically more in line with the other arms of the NATO Command Structrure. - Ssolbergj (talk) 08:30, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

Which one is the right/last one

Is this the same or diferent agancy? --Calle Cool (talk) 20:02, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

NATO's website describes the group, which is somewhat different from the agency. - Ssolbergj (talk) 08:28, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
