Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Έχω στείλει 3 email στον Κωνσταντίνο, είμαι βέβαιη ότι δεν έχει αντίρρηση (η φωτογραφια είναι από τη συνάντησή μας τον Νοέμβριο 2014 στο ΜΙΤ), απλά είναι τόσο πολυάσχολος που πολύ δύσκολα τον πετυχαίνω! Κι εγώ πιστεύω ότι δεν υπάρχει θέμα αφού η φωτογραφία τραβήχτηκε σε δημόσιο χώρο. Απλά από άποψη, εντελώς τυπική, αν και όποτε απαντήσει καλό θα ήταν να συμπεριληφθεί. Σε κάθε περίπτωση νομίζω ότι δεν είναι υποχρεωτικό σύμφωνα με τους νόμους της χώρας. Ευχαριστώ πάντως για την απάντηση. --Γλαύκος ^{shoot it} 22:58, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Photo Challenge[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for your support at Photo Challenge. I think "inside/outside" is a great idea for a theme. But perhaps better when there is more daylight. I had a quick look at your grant/project page. I hope you have good success with that. One caution about group activity on the Photo Challenge. We decided early on to disallow people from voting on their own images (I know myself how hard it is to be impartial). But we have also seen in the past, very occasionally, groups voting on their friends images. It's such a temptation to give support and encouragement to each other, and quite natural human behaviour. So my advice is you warn your "students" to avoid voting on each others images (awarding a 0-points appreciation should be fine). It could be considered "meat puppetry". Part of the community aspect of Commons is about helping others (categorising, licensing, identifying, and voting). Ανακοίνωση νικητών Διαγωνισμού Επιστημονικής Φωτογραφίας 2015 στην Ελλάδα[edit]

Η κριτική επιτροπή του ελληνικού μέρους του Ευρωπαϊκού Διαγωνισμού Επιστημονικής Φωτογραφίας έχει ολοκληρώσει την αξιολόγηση των εικόνων μέσα από δυο γύρους βαθμολόγησης, και έχει ανακοινώσει τις 10 νικήτριες εικόνες σύμφωνα με την βαθμολογία τους. (Έπαθλα)

Επίσης ένας μικρός αριθμός που δεν είναι στην δεκάδα αλλά είναι πρώτες στην κατηγορία τους, προωθούνται στις σχετικές κατηγορίες του Ευρωπαϊκού διαγωνισμού.

Η απονομή των βραβείων θα γίνει σε τελετή η οποία θα διεξαχθεί εντός Φεβρουαρίου. Περισσότερες πληροφορίες για την εκδήλωση θα ανακοινωθούν από την οργανωτική επιτροπή του διαγωνισμού, τις επόμενες ημέρες.

Αλλά πέρα και από τις νικήτριες φωτογραφίες υπάρχουν πάρα πολλές αξιόλογες εικόνες ως προς την ποιότητα αλλά και ως προς την εγκυκλοπαιδική αξία τους. Πολλές από αυτές ήδη χρησιμοποιούνται σε λήμματα της Wikipedia, και στόχος είναι να χρησιμοποιηθούν όσο το δυνατό περισσότερες. Οποιοσδήποτε μπορεί να περιηγηθεί στις 731 εικόνες που υποβλήθηκαν στο τοπικό διαγωνισμό και να τις εισάγει σε σχετικά λήμματα της Wikipedia σε οποιαδήποτε γλώσσα, πιθανά ξεκινώντας από τις 101 καλύτερες.

Τελετή απονομής Βραβείων Διαγωνισμού Επιστημονικής Φωτογραφίας 2015 στην Ελλάδα[edit]

Η ομάδα διοργάνωσης του ελληνικού τμήματος του Διαγωνισμού Επιστημονικής Φωτογραφίας για τη Wikipedia 2015 έχει την τιμή και την ευχαρίστηση να σας καλέσει στην τελετή βράβευσης των φωτογράφων που αναδείχθηκαν στις 10 πρώτες θέσεις. Ο διαγωνισμός, στον οποίο έλαβαν μέρος πάνω από 150 χρήστες με περισσότερες από 700 φωτογραφίες, ολοκληρώθηκε τον Ιανουάριο με την ανακοίνωση των νικητών. Μπορείτε να δείτε τις 10 κορυφαίες φωτογραφίες του διαγωνισμού στη διεύθυνση http://sciencephoto.wikimedia.gr/announcements/

Η τελετή βράβευσης θα γίνει στη Συμπληρωματική Αίθουσα του Συνεδριακού Κέντρου του ΕΚΕΦΕ Δημόκριτος (Αγία Παρασκευή, Αθήνα, οδηγίες μετάβασης), την Παρασκευή 26 Φεβρουαρίου, 17:00-20:00 μ.μ. Η εκδήλωση θα συνοδευτεί από φωτο-εργαστήριο εισαγωγής εικόνων σε λήμματα στη Βικιπαίδεια, σελίδες του Βικιλεξικού ή και στα Wikispecies (αναλυτικό πρόγραμμα και περισσότερες πληροφορίες).

Το ελληνικό σκέλος του διαγωνισμού διοργανώθηκε από το Wikimedia Community User Group Greece, αποτελούμενο από εθελοντές της Βικιπαίδειας, και χρηματοδοτήθηκε από το Wikimedia Foundation, τον οργανισμό που λειτουργεί την Wikipedia, το Wikimedia Commons, και άλλα εγχειρήματα.

Ερωτηματολόγιο SPC 2015 στην Ελλάδα[edit]

Ως Wikimedia User Group Greece σας ευχαριστούμε που συμμετείχατε στον Διαγωνισμό Επιστημονικής Φωτογραφίας, και σας προσκαλούμε να συνεχίσετε να συνεισφέρετε με φωτογραφίες που μπορεί να είναι χρήσιμες σε εγκυκλοπαιδικό και εκπαιδευτικό περιεχόμενο.

Η οργανωτική ομάδα του διεθνούς σκέλους του Ευρωπαϊκού Διαγωνισμού Επιστημονικής Φωτογραφίας για τη Wikipedia, ανακοίνωσε τις νικήτριες φωτογραφίες οι οποίες επιλέχθηκαν από αυτές που υποβλήθηκαν από τις επιτροπές των τοπικών διαγωνισμών. Από την Ελλάδα βραβεύεται μια φωτογραφία στην γενική κατηγορία, η οποία είχε αναδειχθεί και νικήτρια στο ελληνικό σκέλος του διαγωνισμού. Dear Alexmar983 apologies for taking so long to get back to you... I am on sick leave after surgery. Also I have not been active on Greek Wikipedia for nearly a month, as there was a toxic incident that upset me and frankly, I have enough problems in my real life. And on top of that my computer has broken down and I need to get a new one, so now I'm writing on my phone:P Sorry I can't help much but I will ping my good friend and WP admin FocalPoint in case he wants to help by placing a banner. It is now completed in Russia (active in May), Ukraine and France (active during November), but it's still open in all the other countries.

If you want to take part where WSC2019 is still open, please consult this page. Only some national categories are associated to competitions with local prizes.

If you are an expert user, please consider that images uploaded within the deadline can be included in any case in their national category even if not uploaded with the main interface.

Please keep in mind that there is a new category this year, i.e. "nature and wildlife".

If you already took part in a country that has completed its upload phase, please consider improving the description in English of your files (click on the edit button), since such description is what the international jury will use to evaluate them. World finalists will be finalized after March 2020.
