Hello Rodelar/Archivo 1!

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.

To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.

You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Thank you. BotMultichillT (talk) 17:50, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

San Gregorio[edit]

Picture of the Year 2013 R1 Announcement[edit]

Hi Rodelar, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

File:Escudo de Cuadros.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Wiki Loves Monuments Spain 2016 is coming!

Dear Rodelar,

As every year, Wiki Loves Monuments in Spain, an international photographic contest about cultural heritage in the Spanish territory, will start on next September 1st. On behalf of the Wikipedia community and Wikimedia España (WM-ES), and as a participant in former editions of the event, or in other photographic contests organized by WM-ES, we'd like to encourage you to participate in the 2016 edition. We do know that you've been keen on contributing your work to the free knowledge in the past and therefore believe that you'll be glad to help us again.

We want to inform you about a substantial change in the rules of the contest: this year only images of monuments or municipalities without previous photograph in Wikimedia Commons are accepted. To facilitate hunting monuments and municipalities without a free image, we have prepared a set of specific lists, which can be checked in the contest websites: wikilov.es/monuments or wikilm.es

If you have comments, questions or suggestions about the contest, they are more than welcome. You can leave them here.

We look forward to your free images!

Sincerely,

The team of Wiki Loves Monuments edition in Spain

Muchas gracias[edit]

No precisa enlace.

We do know that you've been keen on contributing your work to the free knowledge in the past and therefore believe that you'll be glad to help us again to document biodiversity.

If you have comments, questions or suggestions about the contest, they are more than welcome. You can leave them here. You can review the rules of the contest in it official site (Spanish).

We look forward to your free images!

We take also the opportunity to invite you to Wiki Loves 2017 awards ceremony, which will take place on June 16th at 17:00 in the Medialab-Prado auditorium, in Madrid. Open entry until filled to capacity.

Sincerely,

The team of the Wiki Loves Earth edition in Spain

Wiki Loves Monuments[edit]

Good morning Rodelar! Thank you for warning me of my mistake! I will immediately go to work to remedy! But first, I would like to ask you for advice, if I can: right now, I noticed that there are many files on which I made the mistake of loading the Wiki Loves Monuments template. Would there be a system to remove this template from all these files at once, instead of doing it one by one? Please advise me as you can, and I will get to work immediately! Greetings! --Nicholas Gemini (talk) 07:05, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ya has visto, ¿no?[edit]

Hello. Please note that not all files supported by «Supported by Wikimedia España». This and this are made by http://ruchess.ru/ (Federation of chess in Russia). So I recreated the category. --Brateevsky {talk} 08:00, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

File copyright status[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikimedia Commons. While everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the project, one or more of your file uploads had missing or false information regarding its source and copyright status. Please note that Wikimedia Commons takes copyright rules and infringement very seriously. Files may only be uploaded and included if their copyright status meets the conditions stated in our licensing policy, and if their provenance is clearly documented. Files that fail to meet those conditions may be deleted, and users who fail to meet them may be blocked. Please follow our first steps, if you haven't already. If you have questions, feel free to ask at the Village Pump copyright question page or on my talk page. Thank you.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 15:24, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Important message for file movers[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at Wikimedia Commons.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Hi, Rodelar. You wanted me to answer on your talkpage. We can continue here. Probably Ministry of Culture of Spain hosts a lot of old documents in its website. It is understandable, that the ministry does not start to sort out, which of them are copyrighted and which are not. The ministry simply claims them all copyrighted, it's more simple to them. But this claim does not mean much. Commons users can sort it out themselves and upload old documents with expired copyright into Commons.

Every file in Commons must be free in two countries: in source country and USA where Wikimedia servers are situated. While other countries demand usually 70 years from authors' death for copyright expiring, Spain demands 80 years. If the authors were dead in 1940, the document is out of copyright in Spain. If the authors are unknown, then 50 years is given for them for dying. If the document was created before 1890, then their authors were dead in 1940. USA often demands 95 years from publication (there are exceptions). If the document was published before 1925, then it's out of copyright in USA. (Publication and creation are sometimes different.)

I do not speak Spanish and I will not upload anything from site of Ministry of Culture of Spain, because I do not recognize historically valuable documents, but I encourage you and other speakers of Spanish to find valuable documents with expired copyright and to upload them into Commons. Taivo (talk) 11:06, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Scanning old documents does not create new copyright, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag for that. The ministry's claim for copyright is simply sometimes incorrect.
Discussing in separate user talkpages is unusual. You are the first person in Commons, who wants to talk with me on separate talkpages. Taivo (talk) 11:46, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DRs for long held files[edit]

Hi. Please don't use speedy/copyvio process for long-held files like File:BanderaCabezon.png, especially where they widely used. It is best to lodge it as a DR so that there is a community consensus on the file. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 22:17, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
