VIC steam engine[edit]
I reverted your edit as I had deliberately left "status=nominated" to give you a chance to respond to my suggestion on the wording of the scope. A "steam engine" may be stationary, may be used in mines and other places, while a "steam locomotive" moves and is used in railways. - @MdsShakilআপনি চাইলে প্যারামিটার পরিবর্তন করে দিতে পারেন। আমার মনে হয় পারমিশনে স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে ট্যাগ লাগানোর সুবিধা খুব সম্ভবত আছে। বর্তমানে আমার ছবিতে ট্যাগটি স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে Author অংশে যুক্ত হয়ে যায়। আলাদা করে ট্যাগটি লাগানো সময় সাপেক্ষ, বিশেষ করে যখন অনেক ছবি আপলোড করা হয়।--Rocky Masum (talk) 09:32, 30 May 2022 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on UTC.

Flickypedia soft launch and a huge thank you[edit]
Dear fellow Commons photographer,
I hope this message finds you well. As you might already know, the Flickr Foundation has been busy creating a new Flickr-to-Commons bridge (“Flickypedia”) this year. After a successful demo at the GLAM Wiki Conference in Montevideo, the Flickr Foundation team is now inviting all members of the Commons Photographers User Group to be the first to review their alpha, reporting any technical issues or other feedback via the Flickypedia project talk page.
At the same time, this message is an opportunity for me to thank you for your trust and support over the past couple of years. Since 2017, we've grown into being one of the largest user groups in the Wikimedia universe. I've tremendously enjoyed interacting with all of our members when it came to joint photowalks at Wikimanias, virtual Zoom meetings where we covered a wide variety of photography topics, as well as our annual “Most memorable shot of the year”, among many other events. As I'm not running for an official position in our current board election, this will be my last message on behalf of the user group to you. Thanks for all the happy moments we shared together over the years! I hope you'll continue creating free images for the millions of people we serve through Wikipedia and Commons.

MUTCD file renaming requests[edit]
Hi, thanks for looking into the file renaming requests I made recently. I see that you've declined several of them because of existing redirects. I probably should've given clearer rationales, but it's hard to do per file.
All the files in Category:SVG regulatory road signs of the United States and similar categories are named according to a rigid pattern containing an official sign number from the MUTCD. The established naming convention for historic signs indicates the start and end years, where known, while the naming convention for current signs does not include a year.
A couple weeks ago, the 11th edition of the MUTCD was released; it renumbered quite a few signs and repurposed some of their numbers for unrelated signs. So we have to do a two-step, renaming one file to its new number, then uploading a new file in its place. But since I can't upload over a redirect, I temporarily added "(2023)" to some of the file names. These disambiguators shouldn't be there, because they imply that the signs are no longer in effect in 2024.
Most of the requests I've made have already been honored by other file movers and administrators; it's just these ones that you looked at that got declined. I've rerequested the renames that you declined, under the assumption that this was just a misunderstanding. (Incidentally, I also have a proposal to renaming some route shields as a result of this new MUTCD edition.) On the other hand, if we need to revisit the file naming conventions in general to avoid all this upheaval in the future, I'm willing to keep an open mind about that, as long as we can ensure consistency in the meantime.
