Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Your uploads[edit]
Hi. I'm just noticing your uploads and I'm honestly not sure what those images can be used for. Please take a look at our project scope and learn what commons is for. Do you have any specific ideas about your images? Otherwise, they might be deleted. - Rjd0060 (talk) 02:39, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- "It acts as a common repository for the various projects of the Wikimedia Foundation, but you do not need to belong to one of those projects to use media hosted here."
- These are being used for a project on Wiktionary.org to index American Sign Language handshapes. SignWriting.org presents a method of writing sign language on paper or screen. These images show the unique aspects of how to produce a sign.
- I have been working with user Rod (A. Smith to create this index at http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Index_talk:American_Sign_Language#Organization and has posted entry 3.40 in the Beer Parlor at http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/WT:BP soliciting input on how beneficial these images are. I believe that this is the correct place to store these files. Please let me know if I am mistaken.
- The entire set of files I will eventually need to use is 500. Each one is 32 x 32 pixels or less. About half are mirrored or vertically flipped images.
