Image:Flag of Croatia.svg

Unfortunately, you made a great mistake O. You protected the version proposed by a vandal. have a closer look at the history page and you'll see that there's no point in having his version because another version existed all the years before. just because he's stubborn does not justify his/her means. well then... --Minestrone 11:29, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

I really don't care about what version I protected. Accusing the other party as a vandal isn't helping. 哦,是吗?(O-person) 03:02, 25 February 2008 (GMT)

I was happy for a brief moment and then again sad. Nevertheless of locking the file on the version I proposed. Two administrators or even three locked on Minestrones version. The file was locked on his version for a month + a week. In that period he has not contributed to solving the issue but instead either stuck with what was before (Neoneo13 version) or demanded that his compromisal version should be accepted (that compromise is in short that the colours of French flag would be used).
The file has never been locked on my proposal - not even for a single day. I do not know why that sittuation happened. And I will not discourage myself. But still I think that Image:Flag of Croatia for discussion.svg should be used as a workspace. This is what I wanted to be most clear, that workspace has been set up by an another administrator named Lupo. Lupo proclaimed that no file should be uploaded to Flag of Croatia.svg (the main flag) until the discussion is not over by a compromise and then and only then one of the files from workspace should be uploaded to the main space.
I honoured that rule and every other rule that I was warned about. I have received go ahed from Nightstallion and Denelson83. Sucessful was my contributions to two another flag issues. And the question arise - what should I do next?
Rainman 23:15, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
I do not know why do you think that "I am crying over spoilt milk". I am not. I simply want that other administrator look the history of the file in question and see that the file was protected at the version of the other contributor for a month and a week. And when I was blessed by a meere month then all hell broke loose and every one objected.
I have discussed and still discuss the matter with Zscout370 which changed the version you protected. If Rocket000 doesn't even consider what the version of any file that he protects is, why should other consider that. Lupo and PatríciaR also made clear that when protecting they do not consider the state in which particular file is and that the protected version is not "their" version.
Patstuart has not considered that the file has been locked on the version of the other user for a month and a week also he has not counted in the equation that the other user doesn't want to take part in the discussion and is not willing to take part in synchronization either.
Zscout370 locked on the version because of which the entire "thing" started in the first place
Why not going to the orriginal of Nightstallion (if not precisely to the orriginal file - orriginal colours that Nightstallion as the first uploader used when making that first upload).
Wouldn't this be most impartial solution for now.
Rainman 18:25, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Why some of my suggestion were not even laught at? Ok, you time is your time but seriously - Why not locking on the orriginal version. I do not know exactly but you are a VG-3 expert, so it would be easy for you to download the file that Zscout370 last edited and change the blue colour of the flag (only that) to a Nightstallion's blue colour that is listed at Image talk:Flag of Croatia.svg in that table/chart on the bottom. -- Rainman 01:42, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
I would rather not be involved deeper in this; thanks anyway for the invitation. 哦,是吗?(O-person) 03:01, 05 March 2008 (GMT)
Then at least would you give me your honest oppinion. Is this correct. I mean the entire ordeal. Why the file is not locked at its orriginal (first) version. I thought this is a common praxis, especially when the second version/third upload (that one before the edit-war) is the very reason for it.
We have the first upload, then a second upload which has not changed the colours from the first one. Then we have a long period of unchanged third upload which changed the colours. Then I came an complained with a lot of evidence (on the talk page). Then we have the edit-war. And now we have a sittuation where instead of going to a version before the reasons for edit-war begun - we have revertment to a version around/because which this edit-war begun.
Rainman 03:17, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
In all seriousness, I do not have an opinion. Re protection, I protect whatever version that is current and do nothing more (except adjust protection). 哦,是吗?(O-person) 03:22, 06 March 2008 (GMT)

I need it protected again. User:71.233.232.196, sounds like the sock puppet of Yung6, has been reverting the image again. Thanks in advance. --Ltljltlj 18:13, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Please DO NOT re-protect it, Ltljltlj just wants to get away with vandalizing it. 71.233.232.196 19:30, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Recreating Yuyuan Gardens category

I'm planning to repopulate this category with the corresponding images from Category:Chenghuang Miao that actually show the gardens themselves (several are misnamed that show the surrounding Old City, but not the gardens themselves), for the reasons I brought up to you last November. Basically I'm still not convinced that they should be treated as one and the same, unless the respective en articles on both and my Fodor's guidebook are wrong. Many Thanks

Dear O/2008,
Thank you for supporting my Request for Adminship. I’m honored by your trust and will do my best to help build a better site. Durova 20:58, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Start small, close obvious deletion discussions. Get bolder with experience. Pretty soon Commons will have ten thousand images! (giggles, flees) ;)

Raimon

Hi! I got a discussion running here and there about filenaming, and one of the key clues is what does raimon mean in this picture, which is only categorized under China, so perhaps you may shed some light to us westerners. --Llapissera -> talk 23:31, 3 March 2008 (UTC) P.S: 谢谢 on helping with my renaming earlier!

Sorry to insist, but could you please say anything about it? --Llapissera -> talk 17:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
It's a Japanese temple. 哦,是吗?(O-person) 03:04, 11 March 2008 (GMT)
Felt thanks, you've been a great help! I did suspect it was Japanese, but didn't know where to look for it; now, if you want to join the debate, you're more than welcome. --Llapissera -> talk 23:58, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Please update the Commons Delinker

Please copy and paste the commands that I posted on User talk:CommonsDelinker/commands. I saw that you did so for other people and so must look at the page occasionally, so please upload my commands too :) NB I do not understand Chinese It Is Me Here 17:18, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Je me souviens

Image:Je me souviens.jpg is not my own work. I have upload this image in 2005, after see it in english wikipedia. But in 2007, if you go there : http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Image:Qcuds.jpg we can read that the original image had "lack of licensing information" and then was deleted on 7 April 2007. Therefore, I think that the same image on wikimedia Commons should be deleted too. The original uploader seems to be User:Spotteddogsdotorg on en.wikipedia. It's all that I know. I hope you'll understand my very bad english. Kuxu76 22:46, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

The image will be deleted in due time. 哦,是吗?(О кириллицей) 00:28, 18 March 2008 (GMT)

SVG and CommonsDelinker

Why is it that we cannot change PNG to SVG? There are some files that are in PNG that have questionable status on here and can be replaced by a reasonably good SVG file. Was there discussion somewhere by any chance? User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 03:39, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Most of the reasoning comes from Commons:Deletion requests/Superseded, but bad experiences with doing these replaces in the past caused replace.py to be hard-coded to not allow these replaces. 哦,是吗?(О кириллицей) 16:37, 18 March 2008 (GMT)
So I cannot even use python to make the changes? User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 07:53, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I ask because there are some images like Image:Escudo de Nueva España.png that need to be replaced with an SVG file ASAP, so we can get rid of these copyright questionable images. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 08:03, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Recent "fixing Template:Vector-Images.com" by O (bot)

How can {{Vector-Images.com|PD-self}} ever be a valid license? If it's Vector-images.com image then by default it's not PD-self. If it's a derivative of a Vector-images.com image where the own edits are under PD-self then the restricting license is still that of Vector-images.com. /Lokal_Profil 21:38, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

I noticed this when running the bot. Whoever uploaded that image may have used the wrong licence. 哦,是吗?(О кириллицей) 22:41, 23 March 2008 (GMT)
