Hello[edit]

Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries) or put the images directly into a category, or do both. To find good categories for your images, the CommonsSense tool may help.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. -- Duesentrieb(?!) 22:21, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you put that on The page for Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada? Bawolff 03:03, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry. I seem certainly to have done a strange thing. Moreover, I don't remember what I did! I think, maybe, I had been half asleep. --Morio 07:46, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thats okay. Bawolff 23:35, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images of Ayrton Senna[edit]

Hi. I've added the images you uploaded of Ayrton Senna to deletion request. They appear not to be free. Please see Template:Deletion_requests#From_category:Ayrton_Senna where you can also respond. / Fred Chess 08:18, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing out. Of course, I suspected a possibility that those pictures are not GFDL, but wanted to believe those great pictures are GFDL because nobody pointed out nothing on those pictures in en-wiki. Now everything is certain thanks to you. --Morio 21:08, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture permission[edit]

Hi. Could you accept the use of Image:Skyscrapers_of_Shinjuku_2_7_Desember_2003.jpg in a presentation and a document? You can have your name in the byline, of course, but sadly I do not have a monetary budget for this. Please get back to me at en:Special:Emailuser/Jørgen, specifying whether this is OK, confirmation that you took the picture and your real name if you want source credit. The picture will be used as a "generic" skyscraper image. Thank you! en:user:Jørgen/193.71.38.142 11:55, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My images[edit]

I noticed that you added at least one image of mine to appropriate categories. I have contributed a significant number of almost exclusively auto racing images to WikiCommons. Most are NASCAR. Please look through all my contributions, and add them to the appropriate auto racing or NASCAR categories. I hope that WikiCommons has something like the AutoWikiBot that you could automate the process. Please don't respond on my talk page in WikiCommons, for I won't be checking it. Thanks! St Mary's Cathedral, Tokyo[edit]

This concerns [1] and [2]. You listed them under the category "Orthodox Church". However, the Wikipedia article on St Mary's Cathedral, Tokyo says it is a Roman Catholic cathedral. There is an Orthodox cathedral in Tokyo, [3] looks definitely like an Orthodox church. So, I guess you got the two religions confused. Please correct this, thanks. --Pan Gerwazy 12:50, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion warning Image:Mika Hakkinen 2001 Japan.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

File:20030726 26 July 2003 SHIBUYA109 Shibuya Tokyo Japan.jpg
109 building

Dear Morio,

On the image desctiption page of the image you state that only Wikipedia has permission to use this file. Unfortunately the GFDL does not allow for such a usage restriction.

I therefore felt it necessary to replace the GFDL-self tag with Permission, which, as you can see, is kind of scary.

I would like to express that this does not at all mean that anyone dislikes your picture. Quite the contrary. Therefore I would greatly appreciate it if you change the license/permission to a free license, as listed on Image copyright tags visual under "Free licenses", like GFDL or . Fittipaldi[edit]

I never intended to discuss with you. The question is that you can not make up a rule and say in the summary that I am impolite. First: the version that you want to appear was not uploaded by the author of the picture. Second, the author of the picture released it with a license that allows anyone to make derivative works (like cropping). Third, the author is fully respected with the mention of his name and of the picture's source. It's also important to know that cropped versions are uploaded on Commons, but not necessarily the "original" versions are. So, I understand your concern, but please do not qualify me as impolite based on a rule that does not exist. Thank you. Dantadd 17:10, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK. You are right. If you can not understand, I don't/can't care about it. I am sorry to spend your time. --Morio 23:50, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

The category Category:Motorsports by country is expected to contain categories with the form:

Category:Motorsports in COUNTRY
COUNTRY is an independant country of the current World

Although, you can see such categorization in the English Wikipedia, it is not convenient, in Commons, to categorize Category:Racecar drivers by country in Category:Motorsports by country. The reasons are:

 • legibility of the category page: the page is more legible if you have only categories with the expected form
 • duplication of structures: Category:Racecar drivers from Brazil is a subcategory of Category:Motorsports in Brazil, and you can easily find these categories if you browse through Brazil categories; Category:Racecar drivers is not currently a direct subcategory of Category:Motorsports; so, we can have different structures at different levels, and these structures can still evolve. In my opinion, adding a structure at the “by country” level is disturbing and makes maintenance more complex.
 • no browsing advantage: you can always access to any national sports category or subcategory from Category:Sports by country: select the country, then browse through the subcategories.

--Juiced lemon 09:35, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, although think should be not convenient.--Morio 15:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You can add texts with links in category pages for convenience, since it doesn't affect the categories structure. --Juiced lemon 17:14, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, but what images it is possible to take with ФЛИКЕРА?--Андрей Лапшин 06:01, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wikimedia Commons can accept images only which released under a free license (such as GFDL, CC-BY or CC-BY-SA). When you upload images from flickr, reference this upload page[5] should be useful. I think this page's Statement on Flickr page / License / OK here? part is very comprehensible. And flickr's images show their copyright status in Additional Information. If you have any questions I'll be happy to help. --Morio 07:24, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hondas RA-10?[edit]

If they arent's RA-107's, what are they? From what I know, "my earth dream" livery is only on those Hondas. --Maggot666PL 23:29, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think these are show cars... The racing teams usually do not exhibit the latest model (to keep their secrets), and put an old model with new coloring. To confirm the chassis, I attent to the shape of the suspension and the intakes, etc.
In my view:
Perhaps, these are the BAR 007. In a comprehensible part, the position of the engine spokes is quite different from RA107.
It is not certain but may be the RA107, but might be RA106 with RA107's front wing.
it is an early BAR car.
thanks, --Morio 03:12, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I can see the resemblance, shame we can't be 100% sure without some official info. But, since it's not entirely categorized, maybe you should post this statement in the description field? Miscategorized Lan Evos[edit]

Hello,

I just logged in and I see that you're cleaning up categories with Lancer Evolution's pictures. That'd be great, but you miscategorized lots of Evos Gr. N photos as a WRC cars... I'll see what I can do to clean this up a little bit, but try to be more accurate in the future :).

Regards, Maggot666PL 23:53, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ouch... same, or even worse, goes for the Impreza photos... I admire your accuracy with F1 cars, but categorizing Impreza N14 as a WRC2001-2007? Slow down a bit, I beg you... -- Maggot666PL 23:56, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for comments. Though I had recognized it when had editing and worried how treat Group N cars and the cars before 2000, I did so because I had thinked the overflows of upper categories (Impreza and Lancer/Evo in competition) should be solved for the time being. I would appreciate it if someone correct it more accurate. thanks,--Morio 08:00, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I cleaned up the Evos, it took me some time, but I think now it's quite logical and non-misleading. I'll try to do something about Imprezas too, especially those "generations". It's pretty unusal with Japanese cars to use these terms, since they have their codenames. --Maggot666PL 14:08, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize you to spend time and appreciate you have categorizing images better. --Morio 11:11, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No need to apologize, they needed recategorizing anyway :). I was "planning" to do something with them for a long time and your actions finally made me move, so it's 100% positive. You learn all your life and nobody is perfect. --Maggot666PL 11:37, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Sony gamepads[edit]

Hello. I see you work a lot last week on controllers. It is nice, but i realy think it need to reduce a little complexity. You create categories for specifics controllers (exemple SIXAXES), it is very nice ; but spliting gamepads by manufacturers is maybe, for the moment, not need. What do you think about renaming "Category:Sony gamepads" in "Category:Sony controllers" (more generics) ? Like that it will help us to categories all controllers by manufacturers (and all very strange controllers).

It is very important to begin with all controllers. And if often a controller got it own category, it not need to create more intermediate categories (between "gamepads" and, of example, "SIXAXES").

What do you think about ? Thanks for your comment. ~ bayo or talk 12:27, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for comment. I think your idea might be good. I thought my edit could solve the overflow of "Category:Gamepads" and think it is needed sooner or later, but it is a little complex yet as you say. --Morio (talk) 13:15, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I rename categories with a robot and i create some overs.
Is Category:Gamepads is ok for you ? Maybe we can remove Category:Wireless gamepads to have something more simple ; as you want. ~ bayo or talk 12:10, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think your edit is better than mine. Category:Wireless gamepads also should be removed, and we can replace the category to "Category:Wireless game controllers" or something like it. thanks, --Morio (talk) 13:11, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not realy, its just the power of collaboration :) I will not touch Category:Wireless gamepads because im dont know what it the best, but if you think its better, rename it. ~ bayo or talk 15:42, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello.
I just see Game controller. Maybe a too big subject. Are you interested by recycling this page into something talking only about gamepads, and with the look of Home game consoles by generation sorted by console generation (else sorted by console) ? Maybe by console generation its more usefull. Else, maybe its better to delete this page, no ? ~ bayo or talk 08:50, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My sources all call it Legends car racing (plural). See articles on the French and English Wikipedias. Should the category be renamed? Royalbroil 15:37, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

Do you feel that categories McLaren MP4-23 and Ferrari F2008 are appropriate for those images considering that these are interim cars tending more towards next year models? LeaveSleaves (talk) 13:34, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The interim test-cars are still using/based on this year's chassis and likely to be called the MP4-23A and F2008K. Therefore I think the interim cars are only variants of the MP4-23 and F2008. But, it may be early to conclude its. If it will necessary to change, we might change the categories. thanks,--Morio (talk) 06:59, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Morio!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Category names[edit]

Hello, I am not very keen on templates that generate automatic category names as this creates plenty of maintenance problems. Although I understand you motivation, I have a problem with the naming consistency:

 • First, categories should be in plural (as the parent cat): "1 on automobiles" with s.
 • Second, it is quite confusing to have categories starting with a number, especially in this case (you could as well create "1 of automobiles", "1 in automobiles", "1 from automobiles"; all of them could exist with an arguable meaning. I would very much appreciate if you would change that to "Number 1 on automobiles", ...

Keep up the good work. --Foroa (talk) 07:47, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for comment. I wanted to know what name was more appropriate for the categories. Therefore, your point is exactly what I was waiting for. I try changing "0" and "1" into the names. --Morio (talk) 08:32, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good. It seems logical to me that if the parent cat is "Numbers on vehicles", that the subcategories are "Number 1 on vehicles", ... I don't think that the "one" or "1" is that important (as long as the category don't start with a number). --Foroa (talk) 08:50, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
