First steps tutorial

Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your Graphics abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal Gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page, write this: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], it makes this: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper

Non commercial images[edit]

Hello! Images with a non commercial license such as those from [1] are not allowed on Commons. We only allow CC-BY and CC-BY-SA. See Commons:Sobre las licencias for more information. Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Estar estaba, pero como habías subido tu pedacito con el mismo nombre quedaba en segundo lugar y era tu versión la que aparecería en los artículos. La he devuelto al original y borrado tu versión File:Catedral de Toledo.Altar Mayor (huge).jpg, así que si te propones ir subiendo detalles del retablo puedes nombrarlos como File:Catedral de Toledo.Altar Mayor (detalle1).jpg o algo por el estilo. Borra el caché y las cookies en el navegador que usas y vuelve a intentar la subida. Si no da resultado espera un par de días a ver si el software olvida que esa imagen fue borrada y si eso tampoco funciona me lo dices a ver qué se me ocurre. Hago lo que sigue: Subir/Asistente para subir archivos/lo subo/abajo derecha dice: Usar una licencia diferente/Salen 3 opciones/ ¿cual tengo que elegir para que me salga la licencia que tú usas? Te cuento, así te sirve de chuleta para el próximo recorte.
Como tu imagen la has nombrado igual que la original, al subirla lo que has hecho es ponerla en primer lugar, fíjate que en el historial del archivo aparecen las dos versiones, pero ahora en los artículos solo se verá tu versión y esa es la que ha heredado las categorías de la otra, porque está en la misma página. Para no eliminar una imagen (de la vista de artículos) es mejor modificar el nombre, si al copiarla en tu ordenador la renombras con la coletilla (recortada) la puedes subir como una imagen nueva y entonces sí, le pones las categorías y la información de donde procede. Para eso puedes usar esta herramienta o si te resulta muy complicado me lo dices y pongo yo la info. La ventaja de renombrar es poder tener las dos versiones para utilizar la que más convenga.
Si te apetece puedes hacer el experimento con esta, así practicas y luego yo borro tu versión de la página original. Ale, esta clase va gratis, en la próxima ya te pasaré la factura ;) Anna (Cookie) (talk) 20:21, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Pues va a ser que nones. He repasado toda la categoría de Henry Moore y tus contribuciones y la única imagen que aparece es File:Dartington Hall Gardens - geograph.org.uk - 126410.jpg (en tus contribuciones para indicar que has subido una versión nueva, nada más), si hubieras subido una titulada File:Dartington Hall Gardens - geograph.org.uk - 126410 (recortada).jpg además de verse aquí en azul, estaría con ese nombre tanto en la categoría como en tus contribuciones, como imagen independiente. Solo se me ocurre que en tu ordenador tengas dos, la imagen original descargada y la copia renombrada, y al subirla eligieras la equivocada. Si no es así, ya sabes quien te anda haciendo faenas. Y la única trampa que he hecho es votar antes de dejaros el enlace, no fuera a ser el sitio equivocado, o no supiera meter el voto en la urna...y tuviera que venir a preguntar. Let's keep this discussion at one place. I fail to see the basis for this image being in the public domain. As I told you already, his works should be copyrighted til end of 2036 (death-year +70) and this includes any reproductions of this works. Even the image file source says "Rights: © c/o Pictoright Amsterdam 2011", whatever that means. No las he visto todas aún, pero algunas son para quedarse con la boca abierta. También aprovecho para enseñarte algunas fotos en Flickr de la catedral de Jaén, si ves alguna interesante que podamos subir aquí me lo comentas, comprobamos la licencia y la subimos. Hola! Estoy buscando una foto de la fuente de Los Cuatros Elementos de Jaén, Andalucía, por Paco Tito, y hace unos años creo que ví dos versiones de este por usted. Uno es ésto-

Hola Marisa, desconozco el caso que mencionas, pero me da la impresión de que no tenía mucho que ver con esto; yo también me he encontrado burradas en es:wiki, en un sentido y en otro. Me hablas del nombre conocido actualmente más correcto. No especificas cuál, podrías indicarme cuál es y por qué lo es? Te lo comento porque, a través de terceros, he oído hablar de tu buen nombre y prestigio (no me he cruzado mucho contigo, pero cuando he visto alguna edición tuya la he considerado más que fiable); y en fin, me da la impresión de que cuando hablas de algo, sabes de lo que hablas.

En relación a lo que comentas, yo también he aportado datos, bastante sólidos creo y de la misma manera que yo no desprecio los datos aportados por otros (razón por la cual estoy dialogando con Panotxa), espero lo propio a los datos que yo he aportado, sin presupusiciones de que tal nombre es correcto y es el más conocido. Como le he dicho a Panotxa, el hecho de que diversas instituciones y culturales (que son una autoridad) tengan criterios dispares sencillamente me hacen sentar la duda de que la que se suponía forma correcta...sea tal, fuera del ámbito catalán y que fuera del ámbito catalán sea también la más empleada.

Esto me recuerda al caso de Francisco Ferrer Guardia. Él nunca usó la forma "Francesc Ferrer i Guardia" como su nombre (su tumba es bastante ilustrativa al respecto), esto será la forma moderna que en Cataluña se ha adoptado de forma oficial o semi-oficiosa para referirse a él, pero eso ni lo convierte en su nombre ni es el más empleado ni es el correcto. Y mira qué categoría tiene. Y aquí planteo lo mismo, más allá del cambio inicial que hice. Mi traslado será discutible, cuestionable, opinable, pero la forma anterior es bastante cuestionable que por sentado la correcta, oficial y la más usada...globalmente. Sí, sí que es cuestión de datos, de pararse a pensar las cosas, y quizás menos dar por sentadas las cosas como si se tratara de un dogma incuestionable. No está de más reexaminar las cosas, sobre todo lo que suele darse por hecho.
Que la grafía no estuviera normalizada no es argumento para renombrar nombres 10, 40 o 70 años después, eso sería semejante a lo que en derecho es la aplicación retroactiva de las leyes. Para mi sorpresa hace años descubrí que Pompeu Fabra no era tal cuando nació, sino Pompeyo Fabra; es motivo eso para cambiarlo? No, nadie, o casi nadie lo conoce o se atreve a llamarlo de esa forma. ¿Por qué? Porque es un 99,9999999999999999999999999999% conocido como Pompeu Fabra, porque la mayor parte de su vida se le conoció como Pompeu Fabra, punto. No tiene más historia (si acaso da para nota historiográfica).
Pero entiendo yo que aquí la cosa cambia. Y en este caso (el de Guimera/Guimerá/Guimerà), ni en vida usó una única forma, ni después de muerto se ha usado una única forma. Y el hecho es que no es difícil encontrar distintas formas, porque a diferencia de otros escritores modernos, no tiene un único criterio y no es difícil encontrar distintas versiones incluso a día de hoy. Y es a partir de esa premisa, es de donde se debe partir. Respecto a lo último que comentas de las tildes, una de las propuestas de Panotxa es precisamente dejar la categoría sin tildes, cosa que después de todo me pareció una buena idea.
Por último, comentarte que me parece acojonante (perdón por la palabra) que en ca:wiki lleguéis al extremo de estas cosas, sobre buscar apoyos artificiales para inflar la pelota y buscar un administrador "amigo" para tratar de manipular los procesos normales de Commons...no inspira mucha confianza en cuanto a la cuestión de Guimera. Lo que me parece sorprendente es que varios han tenido constancia de esto y no han hecho nada, pero bueno, tampoco me sorprende. Manuchansu (talk) 17:02, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hola Marisa, el grabado es de Frances D. Cage, confirmado por la edición digital de History of Woman Suffrage, Volume I, referencia que, de paso, he añadido en la imagen. De Hannah Tracy Cutler no he encontrado ni dibujos, ni grabados, así que he tenido que borrarla para que no siga suplantando a la otra dama.
