Thanks![edit]

Your pictures really make wikipedia a lot more vivid and colorful. Keep up the good work.

Your photography is really breath-taking. I used "USA_10336_Monument_Valley_Luca_Galuzzi_2007.jpg" on one of my blogs, which you can visit at: http://sustainablog.org/2008/08/06/towards-a-redefinition-of-sustainability-justin-van-kleeck-and-caroline-savery-6-caroline/

I included the specifications you requested. Thank you!!

Macro DOF[edit]

Hi Joaquim, I was trying to review your Butterfly image on QIC but I'm not a macro expert and I'm confused by the little DOF obtained with f/18 aperture. Is it normal in macro photography? --LucaG 20:55, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, it is. In the present case, I was using a 100mm lens with an extension tube, and the subject was at the shortest possible distance from the sensor, about 30cm. This gives a DOF of about 4mm. Maybe it was possible to get a better focus but the subject was not still (notice the large shutter speed) and I was not using a tripode. -- Alvesgaspar 22:37, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grazie[edit]

Grazie per aver qualificato la mia immagine... ma soprattutto... grazie dei consigli!!! Mi sono avvicinato da poco alla fotografia e sono realmente "affamato" del consiglio di persone esperte. Grazie ancora. A presto. --Aracuanotalk 09:16, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Luca,

I asked this question about your (very nice) picture because I think Wikimedia is very careful with rights. I don't know the situation in Nepal, but probably you won't be bothered for that. Now I just come to the following point : Is it respectful to the people you took in photo to diffuse their image on the internet ? They gave you a consent, but do they know their image is spreading on the internet ? This is also about any reporter who could take similar pictures which can be found in any magazine. This is a reason I don't take portraits of unknown people (I like taking portraits of my friends too) and put them on internet. But I'd like to know your opinion, and maybe we could even start a discussion on this topic. Benh 16:54, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • if it were only me, I would fully agree with you (and be proud of having a portrait of me by you spreading on the internet ;). But maybe the people you take give you their consent because they believe you are going to keep the pictures for yourself. Maybe I'm thinking too much. I'm going to nominate a portrait of yours, and if this issue really matters, someone on FPC will raise the point anyways :) -- Benh 11:33, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lucag...[edit]

I have looked over your photographs and honestly I envy you! Seldom the opportunity to travel, as it is evident from the places you have photographed, and talent match. What a great marriage! Opportunity and talent! You have a very keen eye for composition, great placement of subjects, scale, etc., etc. Really your work stands out, hard to critiue, if not impossible, what you have done. If I may, however, suggest, is that you take that talent and explore the social commentary of the places that you visit. Somehow I suspect that you will be a master of that too. Please visit my page at http://photo.net/photos/tomascastelazo. Congratulations! --Tomascastelazo 19:03, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One more suggestion: Try burning in certain areas of your images. That has always been a common practice in darkrooms. This is especially useful in sunlit areas in the foregroud. This gives "weight" to the image and makes the eye move from dark to light. --Tomascastelazo 19:06, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anon Decline[edit]

Hi there. You declined a QI today and forgot to sign it! 04:51, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I think you are just trying to make things unclickable. Perhaps you and your little commons buddies.

I don't want to contest your review but I'd like to ask you where you see some noise. Considering I'm quite an amateur photographer, I can't see how it's more noisy than some promoted pictures (like that one for instance). --TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 13:02, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
