Patriot Prayer counterprotest pix

Heads up (based on your interest in protest pix) that I just posted pix from yesterday's counter-protest of Patriot Prayer's attempted "free speech" rallies in San Francisco, which made national headlines. I created Category:Demonstrations and protests against Patriot Prayer in California rather than an SF-specific category in anticipation that someone might upload photos from today's related rally/counterprotest in Berkeley, which I did not attend. I didn't categorize my pix with Trump protests as it wasn't specifically a protest against Trump, though many attendees did bring anti-Trump signage. I note that Category:Boston Free Speech rally, which had similar stated aims, is categorized with the Trump protests though. Funcrunch (talk) 22:10, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

Also pinging Another Believer based on his similar interests (hope you don't mind). Funcrunch (talk) 22:13, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
@Funcrunch: I've added Category:Demonstrations and protests against racism and Category:Demonstrations and protests against fascism, as that seems to be the aim of the protest. I've looked on Flickr and can't find anything, but photos could be uploaded later. MB298 (talk) 00:31, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
@Funcrunch: I've found several photos from the Berkeley protest/counterprotest which can be found at Category:Protest in Berkeley (27 August 2017). MB298 (talk) 03:00, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, good find. It looks like there are both pro- and anti-PP people in the Berkeley pix, so it might be useful to have a parent category for Patriot Prayer as well, which could be added to en:Patriot Prayer (as well as en:2017 Berkeley protests). Both of those articles are pretty hotly debated, so I don't feel comfortable choosing any representative pix myself... Funcrunch (talk) 03:27, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Also pinging Another Believer again if he feels brave enough to get into those articles :-) Funcrunch (talk) 03:29, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Minority U.S. Representatives.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. Georgia Governors Map

Hi, How did you make the Georgia Governors Race of 1974 Map where George Busbee won? It's the map of Georgia where most of it is light blue. How did you make it cause i've been wondering. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 2605:6000:6D4C:6000:20CA:CF85:2C8A:6E33 (talk) 01:07, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Click on the image until you get to the page where it's just the picture and nothing else. Then do command-click on one part of the picture, and click "Inspect element". You will then see a bunch of text, and color codes, which are something like #3333FF or #000000 or #F7F9DA. Look up color codes and use the colors to change the colors of the map. Cropping images

By way of information for the future, when you want to crop an image, like you did with File:Governor McCrory cropped.jpg, I suggest you use the CropTool that can be activated in your commons Preferences, under Gadgets. The CropTool will then appears in the left side of your screen. It saves everyone a lot of time because it transfers all the correct and appropriate information into the cropped image, such as source, license, author, etc. It even leaves a backlink to the original and visa versa so long as the original has been positively reviewed. That way all the proper information is there and does not need to be manually reviewed by volunteers. If you are just cropping a small bit of the image like a frame you can decide to overwrite the original image but for more major crops you should upload the copped version as a separate new image, but you have a choice. I hope you can see how everyone can save time and effort by using CropTool. Good luck. Ww2censor (talk) 16:41, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

@Ww2censor: Thanks, I uploaded that nearly two years ago back when I didn't have CropTool but have been using the tool for several months now. MB298 (talk) 22:59, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

Mel Gibson

Hi, could I ask for a cropped headshot of Mel Gibson from this photo: File:Brother and Sister Leaders -- Dr. Nikan Khatibi & Dr. Parmis Khatibi; Academy award-winning actor Mel Gibson.jpg. I think I'll use the result in his filmography article. Regards, Slightlymad 05:47, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

@Slightlymad: here you go. MB298 (talk) 05:55, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
Yikes, it's too small. Do you think you could make this a bit larger and maybe reduce emphasis on the torso? Here's an example: File:Tyler_Bates_SDCC_2014.jpg. Slightlymad 06:09, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
@Slightlymad: If I increase the size it will be fairly pixelated and not a great image to use in an article. If you want less emphasis on the torso I could crop it further. MB298 (talk) 06:12, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

Correction request in File:Religion in Europe.svg

Hello,

The United Kingdom is not a majority Protestant country as a whole, nor in any of its constituent countries. It is only a majority Christian country as a whole and in all of its constituent countries. While Protestantism is the plurality in England, Scotland and Wales; Roman Catholicism is now the plurality in Northern Ireland; and Protestantism is a plurality in the United Kingdom as a whole.

Source for the Unite Kingdom: https://faithsurvey.co.uk/download/protestant-statistics.pdf

Source for Northern Ireland: http://www.ninis2.nisra.gov.uk/public/census2011analysis/religion/religionCommentary.pdf http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-20673534

Source for Scotland: http://www.gov.scot/Topics/People/Equality/Equalities/DataGrid/Religion/RelPopMig

Can you therefore change the color of the United Kingdom as a whole to that of a Protestant plurality?

2016 Florida, Tennessee, and New York presidential maps

Hi am sorry to bother you but I noticed that you corrected an error in the shading of the presidential election map for New Jersey. I have noticed that all three of these states contain errors, and I would appreciate it if you could fix the shading on these states. Polk County in Florida is shaded for a Republican win between 60%-70% but Trump only won the county with 54.86% of the vote. In Tennessee, Davidson County, where Nashville is located, is shaded for a Democratic win between 60%-70% when Clinton only won the county with 59.77%. There is another error in Tennessee for Lauderdale County, which is shaded for a Republican win between 50%-60% when Trump actually won the county with 60.39% of the vote. In New York, Dutchess County is shaded for a 40%-50% Republican victory when it was actually carried by the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton with 47.54% of the vote. There are several other shading errors in New York. I would appreciate it if you could make these changes. Thanks! Count Awesome (talk) 06:31, 3 February 2018 (UTC)

@Count Awesome: ✓ Done! MB298 (talk) 01:30, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

It looks like on the Tennessee map you did a map that when you fixed Lauderdale County it reverted your change on Davidson County. Could you change Davidson County to the right shade? Thank you! Count Awesome (talk) 01:58, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

@Count Awesome: it's fixed now. MB298 (talk) 02:02, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the fixes! I found another shading issue, this time in South Dakota. Harding County, in the northwestern corner of the state, is shaded for a 80%-90% Republican win when Trump really won the county with 90.26% of the vote. I would really appreciate it if you could make this change. Count Awesome (talk) 02:21, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

Could you update the map to show that Kansas now has a Republican incumbent governor eligible for reelection? Governor Jeff Colyer, who is eligible for reelection and is campaigning for it as well. Thanks! Count Awesome (talk) 23:50, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

But now even in MO, the professional photographers license their images as CC BY NC SA 3.0 like this photo. Such is life. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 23:43, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

2004 Alabama and Arizona presidential maps

Could you fix these two maps for the 2004 presidential election? Even though the Alabama map is titled 2014, it is representative of the results of the election in that state in 2004. I have noticed that the color scheme is considerably off, and I am wondering if you could fix it? The only problem with the Arizona map is that it has Mohave County was shaded for a 70%-80% Republican win but George W. Bush only carried the county with 63.5% of the vote. I would appreciate it if you could make these changes. Thanks! Count Awesome (talk) 03:17, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

Cook PVI Congressional District map request

Could you fix the coloring of Nevada's 2nd and 4th Congressional Districts? Nevada's 2nd, located in the northern part of the state, is colored with a blue shade, indicating it has a Democratic PVI. Its PVI is actually R+7. Nevada's 4th, located immediately below the 2nd, is colored with a red shade, indicating it has a Republican PVI. Its PVI is actually D+3. I would appreciate it if you could fix this. Thanks! Count Awesome (talk) 18:17, 11 February 2018 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you again but it looks like you swapped the colors of the 3rd and 4th districts of Nevada. The 3rd is located in the southern tip of the state, and it has a PVI of R+2. The 4th is located more in the center of the state and has a PVI of D+3. Count Awesome (talk) 20:43, 11 February 2018 (UTC)

  • Thanks for your help. As an aside from your Userpage, it seems that you live in Oregon. I am in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Unfortunately, since the weather is mild in Metro Vancouver--it rains a lot in winter just like Seattle--almost everyone likes to live here and house prices are very expensive. Unlike Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa (Canada's capital), and Montreal where the weather in winter can be brutal but house prices are cheap. Except for Toronto. --Leoboudv (talk) 02:07, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

2016 Florida and Ohio Presidential maps

I would like to thank you very much for fixing that Political Party Strength in Kentucky table and ask if you could make a couple of corrections to these maps. In Florida, Lake County is shaded for a Republican win of 60%-70%, when it was only won by Trump with 59.48% of the vote. In Ohio, Franklin County is shaded for a Democratic win of 60%-70%, when it was actually won by Clinton with 59.8% of the vote. Also in Ohio is Putnam County, which is shaded for a Republican win of 80%-90%, when it was really only won by Trump with 79.3% of the vote. Also, could you change the shading on the state map of West Virginia for Logan County, with is also shaded for an 80%-90% Trump win, but was only won with 79.6% of the vote. Could you also change the color for Hancock County, located in the northern panhandle of West Virginia, from a 70%-80% Republican win to a 60%-70% Republican win, as Trump only won 69.6% of the vote in that county. Please do not use URL shorteners

Hi MB298, watching the logs I just noticed that you have had problems editing pages or uploading images. These problems were caused by the use of URL shorteners like flic.kr, goo.gl, youtu.be, bit.ly and many others. Please avoid them and use full URL links instead. 2012 US congressional district presidential election map

Would there be any way you could fix this map? I have noticed several errors. Texas's 13th congressional district, based in the Texas Panhandle, is shaded for a win by Mitt Romney of 90% or greater but was actually won with a little over 80%. Oklahoma's 5th congressional district, based around Oklahoma City, is shaded for a win by Romney of over 60%, but he actually carried the district with around 59% of the vote. Kansas's 3rd congressional district, located around Kansas City, Kansas, is shaded for a Romney win of 60% or greater but was only won with about 54% of the vote. Nevada's 2nd congressional district, located in northern part of the state, is shaded for a win of 60% or higher by Romney as well, but he only carried the district with around 53% of the vote. Oregon's 2nd congressional district is shaded for a win by Mitt Romney of 60% or greater, but he only carried the district with around 56% of the vote. Lastly, South Carolina's 2nd congressional district is shaded for a win by Romney of 60% or greater, but he actually won around 59% of the vote. I have gathered all of this information from the Daily Kos and Cook Partison Voter Index website, both of which have the district totals tabulated. I know this is quite a bit, and I would truly appreciate if you could make these changes. Thank you very much! Count Awesome (talk) 02:10, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
