Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Username[edit]

Hello, would you be willing to change your username to something intelligible? This can be done via Special:GlobalRenameRequest. From the username policy:

The purpose of a username is to identify contributors. If your username or your signature is unnecessarily confusing, editors may ask you to change it. Usernames like "Dasdpoieqdmcoiaq" that are random characters, or are too similar to other contributor's usernames, or confusing for other reasons can be blocked, but the user should usually be allowed to register under a new name.

I do not intend to block you, but someone else might. I strongly recommend changing this when you have a chance. Guanaco (talk) 01:55, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Comment @Guanaco: I've already done that, my new username is I eat bananas. 49206561742062616e616e6173 (talk) 21:19, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop making deletion requests[edit]

I don't know if you are trying to help while being clumsy and misinformed or trying to take "revenge" for the deletion of your Transformer toy photos. But either way, stop creating deletion requests when you don't really know what you're doing. This just creates work for administrators and experienced users and trust me, we have plenty of that already.

If you want to start some discussions or ask questions on the copyright village pump you are welcome to do that. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 22:10, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Alexis Jazz: The only reason why I even make these deletion requests is because I believed that the things they portrayed were copyrighted like the toy images I uploaded. I have no animosity over the transformers deletions. I'm sorry that you misinterpreted why I nominated the other photos for deletion. On the bright side you can see all the videos I've uploaded from NASA here! Is there anything else you want to tell? Thanks ^_^ I eat bananas 101 (talk) 23:01, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As I said (and I wasn't being sarcastic or anything), I didn't know if you were trying to help or seeking revenge. You'd be surprised how often we see that. Please read the policies, look at other deletion requests and ask the copyright village pump if you have questions. If you want to track down copyright violations, take a look at User:OgreBot/Uploads by new users/2018 September 01 22:30 (use previous and next gallery links for more). Anything that looks professional, is claimed to be own work and uploaded by a user with only a few edits is suspect, though it may be legit, so read the description carefully. You can use Google image search to see if they found it elsewhere instead of creating it themselves. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 02:23, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MOTD[edit]

Please refrain from doing any work in the media of the day space. Your current edits and work in that area are problematic.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:21, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Billinghurst: for how long?--I eat bananas 101🍌 (talk) 01:32, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Until this matter is resolved. The content you put to the main page shows that we have issues that need addressing. I have some very specific concerns about what you are uploading as I struggle to see that it is within scope, and further in what you consider to be suitable material for MOTD. I will remove the block, though need for you to do some reading, and in my opinion try to think to a higher standard of what makes Commons great.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:44, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
To me it is evident that you are not familiar with what you are doing in how transclusions work, and the intricacies of mediawiki. You didn't understand the consequences of your edits, not check them. If you wish to be an administrator, then you have a lot to learn, and I mean a lot.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:46, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Billinghurst: thank you for helping me understand this. I really wanted my mooncake video to be on commons because tomorrow is the mid autumn festival in traditional Chinese culture. Also why did you delete my video of emeishan monkeys, at least it is as educational as this.--I eat bananas 101🍌 (talk) 01:50, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
MOTD is not about your personal opinion, and if that is how you should have approached this matter. Taking that approach is conflicting your interest with the needs of Commons, which should be about the consensus. Just moving things is not going to build you a trusted reputation.

Re the video that I deleted, it was of poor quality and what educative purpose did it fulfil? That you can find another piece of media that is potentially out of scope, doesn't mean that yours becomes back into scope. If you think that something else is of poor quality, then check your thinking against the deletion policy and nominate it through a DR if necessary.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:15, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I unfortunately agree some of your recent actions at MOTD were problematic. For example this video has a low educational value, is of a poor quality, and lacks a caption. Please consider asking for help and advice. Thanks, — Racconish💬 06:12, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I eat bananas 101, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited User:I eat bananas 101/common.js. Glad to see you coding in javascript! Have you ever considered becoming a MediaWiki hacker?
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 1 new jshint issue — the page's status is now having warnings. Note that invalid or ambiguous code often has unwanted side effects like breaking other tools for you. If you cannot find out how to fix it, I suggest blanking the page for now.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine. If you prefer not getting spammed by me, you can opt-out reports by adding {{ValidationOptOut|type=all}} to your user page or cmb-opt-out anywhere on your your global user page on Meta. Good luck at Wikimedia Commons and happy hacking!

Wikipe-tan[edit]

She is our mascot, and images of her are used on many pages. Why are you trying to delete those images, when they are obviously COM:INUSE and therefore in scope?   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 02:17, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeff G.: I didn't nominate all the wikipe tan photos, just the photos I believed that were out of scope. Like how billinghurst nominated some of my photos because they were out of scope. For example the wikipe tan photo with all the colors inverted, I believed that it had little educational value, and the reason why commons exist is to keep images that are of educational value, this doesn't fit the bill. Same with the illustration of wikipe tan holding a present. As for the image of wikipe tan crying, it can be substituted with any generic photo of a girl crying. I'm not really trying to be biased about wikipe-tan but this is my justification. Also I created this account because I was on a wikibreak and if a message would be put up in my talk page. I could easily reply that way. Also could you give me more reason why I shouldn't delete wikipe tan images?--I eat bananas 101 on tour (talk) 02:40, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
All the images Wikipe-tan you nominated are using in various Project, it clearly in Scope of Commons. --minhhuy (talk) 03:11, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
