flickr image uploads

Hi - when you upload flickr images, please try to always grab the "biggest" size available. Thanks! :) rootology (T) 04:21, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

I reiterate this re this image. Unless it is technically impracticable on your end, upload the largest size they've got. Server space is not an issue, and it helps us accommodate future display devices. Daniel Case (talk) 19:52, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

moving titles

Hi there,

I am using the traditional Chinese script as has been used for thousands of years, which is also understood in Hongkong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and Vietnam. For a historic place like Tiananmen I think the traditional script is better suited than the modern which only exists since the 1960's. Gryffindor (talk) 19:50, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Well precisely that, I am using Chinese, albeit a form that has been in use much longer and is still in use. Articles have to be in native tongue per Commons policy on languages. Gryffindor (talk) 20:05, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Obviously new buildings like Olympic Stadium or Great Hall of the People can be in the new Chinese, but for old traditional places that were always referred to in the old script I think it should be fine. Gryffindor (talk) 20:27, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

I don't agree your opinion. First, those images are not made by the uploader. The uploader just uploaded the images which were found on the internet. Thus there is not any problems called "disrespectful". Second, Hi-res is better than low-res is a common truth, but the brightness depends on users' preferences. Some users can think the brighter is better and some users can not. Even some users can think the darker is closer to the originals. If you don't like the brightness, you could adjust the brightness and upload them again. --百楽兎 (talk) 01:46, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the issue of copyright, Along the River 7-119-3.jpg is a good example for reference. The image is completely copied from the website of NPM, and NPM doesn't allow any usage of their website materials without permission, but the image is accepted and even become a featured picture on Commons.--百楽兎 (talk) 09:47, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello. I'm curious as to why you re-categorized a large number of my uploads to Category:Trip at the Great Wall of China at Badaling and Category:Trip at the Forbidden City. Its a photograph of a university campus found at Flickr. It was taken by this Flickr user who released it under Creative Commons license. I did not take the picture. The person who took the photo is attributed; the name of the author and the title of the work are listed.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 04:11, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
