Thanks a lot for the correction

It was really a mistake to include the Malaysian peninsula in Indonesia (and forgive, since I was doing this concerning to all the ASEAN countries, so in a case I might have a lapse, like in this case). And you're right about the colour. But I also wish that the same colour option is also applied to all the other ASEAN countries! interactive map

Hi Gunkarta I appreciated your map of the history of buddhism very much. I am trying to make a timeline map for my study of buddism to show the travels of the different masters and what they did/ built/ taught in different places. Have you done anything similar I could look at and could you recommend a software/ method to do this? I am not a programmer so I cannot use something which requires me to write code. Thanks for your advice

Thanks for your compliment, I'll put my response here since you did not sign up nor have a Wikimedia homepage. To make animation map you must create a gif map, in my case I'm using Adobe Photoshop program. First making vector based map using Adobe Illustrator, then exporting to Adobe Photoshop by opening timeline window and creating layers of frames to make animation map. Activate "tween" button and adjust few frames to make the transformation between main frames smoother. Here's the examples:
Srivijayan empire expansion (7th to 13th century)
Majapahit empire expansion (circa 14th to 15th century)
The expansion of the Dutch East Indies in Indonesian Archipelago

Pada lambang Jawa Tengah yang anda buat, semestinya pada bagian bawah logo terdapat pita yang bertuliskan "Prasetya Ulah Sakti Bhakti Praja", yang tidak lain merupakan semboyan Pemprov Jateng. Namun hal tersebut tidak terdapat pada logo yang anda buat. Saya memohon kepada anda agar bisa sedikit memperbaiki logo Jawa Tengah yang anda buat. Pertama-tama saya mau menyatakan rasa kagum atas adikarya Bapak di bidang foto dan grafika. Apalagi adikarya yg cemerlang itu sudah lama dipakai bukan hanya di Wikipedia Bahasa Indonesia atau Wikipedia Bahasa Inggris tapi juga di Wikipedia bahasa-bahasa lain termasuk versi Bahasa Rusia.

Padahal dalam Wikipedia Bahasa Rusua sudah ada banyak artikel pilihan bertopik Indonesia yg menggunakan gambaran bikinan Bapak, antara lain artikel Indonesia (ru:Индонезия), Sejarah Indonesia (ru:История Индонезии), Masakan Indonesia (ru:Индонезийская кухня), Suku bangsa di Indonesia (ru:Народы Индонезии), serta sejumlah artikel lain yg berstatus tinggi.

Berkenaan dengan itu saya mau kasih tahu bahwa peta Suku bangsa di Indonesia yg dibikin Bapak ([1]) baru ini saja dikoreksi sedikit oleh sekelompok pengguna Rusia atas dasar berbagai sumber etnografi yg baru. Inilah versinya baru: [2] Koreksi yg utama dibikin di daerah Papua dan Sulawesi tapi ada juga koreksi tertentu di pulau lain. Munkin versi yg baru itu bisa dipergunakan juga oleh pengguna Wikipedia Bahasa Indonesia…

I have a proposal for you to update the File:Buddhist Expansion.svg, Because Buddhism also the Philippine Archipelago Via its neighboring Sri Vijaya empire, Philippines of Vajrayana Buddhism influence.

  • Philippines’s archaeological finds include many Buddhist artifacts. They have been dated to belong to the 9th century. The artifacts reflect the iconography of the Srivijaya empire’sVajrayana Buddhism and its influences on the Philippines’s early states.
  • The artifacts’s distinct features point to their production in the islands and they hint at the artisans’s or goldsmiths’s knowledge of the Buddhist culture and the Buddhist literature because the artisans have made these unique works of Buddhist art. The artifacts imply also the presence of the Buddhist believers in the places where these artifacts turned up. These places extended from the Agusan-Surigao area in Mindanao island to Cebu, Palawan, and Luzon islands. Hence, Vajrayana Buddhism must have spread far and wide throughout the archipelago. And Vajrayana Buddhism must have become the religion of the majority of the inhabitants in the islands.

Hi! As i editing an article about Philippine history , i notice the map of

(about Mandalas) / Polities are mentions only the Mandalas of mainland asia and indonesian area.

But, Their also Mandalas in the Philippine Archipelago Since the 9th century, Here they are:

  • Tundun - Luzon area where the Buddhist expands influence - the archipelago to include among others, initiating diplomatic and commercial ties with China during the Ming Dynasty.
  • Sugbo- Visayas area, - A Hindu state , The Rajahnate of Cebu, During Rajah Humabon's reign, the region had since become an important trading center where agricultural products were bartered. From Japan, perfume and glass utensils were usually traded for native goods. Ivory products, leather, precious and semi-precious stones and śarkarā (sugar) mostly came from India traders and Burmese people traders
  • Butuan- Mindanao area - A Hindu- Buddhist state, It was known for its mining of gold, its gold products and its extensive trade network across the Nusantara area.

Tundun

  • In Luzon (Northern Philippines), Kingdom of Tondo also referred to as Tundo, Tundun, Tundok, Lusung) was a fortified polity[1] which was located in the Manila Bay area, specifically north of the Pasig River, on Luzon island. It is one of the settlements mentioned by the Philippines' earliest historical record, the Laguna Copperplate Inscription (LCI).Originally an Indianized kingdom in the 10th century, Tondo built upon and capitalized on being central to the long-existing ancient regional trading routes throughout the archipelago to include among others, initiating diplomatic and commercial ties with China during the Ming Dynasty. Thus it became an established force in trade throughout Southeast Asia and East Asia.

Sugbu

  • In Visayas (Central Philippines) , The Rajahnate of Cebu (Malay: Kerajaan Sugbu) was an Indianized monarchical polity on the island of Cebu prior to the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors. It was founded by Sri Lumay or Rajamuda Lumaya, a minor prince of the Chola dynasty which occupied Sumatra.[2] He was sent by the Maharajah to establish a base for expeditionary forces but he rebelled and established his own independent rajahnate.

Butuan

  • In Mindanao Area (Southern Philippines), The Rajahnate of Butuan or Kingdom of Butuan or Chinese: 蒲端國, Púduānguó (in Chinese records) was an ancient Indic polity centered on the present Mindanao island city of Butuan in what is now the southern Philippines. It was known for its mining of gold, its gold products and its extensive trade network across the Nusantara area. The kingdom had trading relationships with the ancient civilizations of Japan, China, India, Indonesia, Persia, Cambodia and areas now comprised in Thailand.

Decline.., No, this map reserved only for significant historic empires. I only inserted historic empires which exercised significant sphere (mandala) of influence. Thus lesser kingdoms in the region (Dvaravati, Lavo, Martaban, Nagara Sri Dharmaraja, Sunda, Kadiri and Bali) let alone less-known kingdoms in the Philippines, are definitely not included.Gunkarta (talk) 11:58, 8 August 2016 (UTC)
    • Collaborative proposal - Greater and Lesser Mandalas If its alright, Please allow me to use the map, Since the Greater mandalas are already here, my plan is to collect the Mandalas in the Greater India, to become Map of the Greater and lesser Mandalas. This map here is a kick start, I will based my additions on the references, You will be on the Credit, Just allow me to duplicate the map for the accuracy of the Mandala Model.

For example,

  • Legend : Red means the Greater mandalas (Pagan, Khmer,Champa Srivijaya) etc
  • Orange means Lesser mandalas (Bali,Tundun Etc)

Decline.., not necessary, the history of Southeast Asian archipelago witnessed large numbers of small kingdoms. In Java itself there were numbers of kingdoms spans over period, from semi-mythical Salakanagara to historic Tarumanagara, Sunda, Kalingga, Medang Mataram, Kahuripan, Kadiri, Singhasari, Majapahit. There will be complicated overlapped mandalas. The concept of historio-political mandala itself is more refer to an influential kingdom that acted as a political "gravity" that can be called as empire. So it can not applied for lesser/small/client/vassal kingdoms. I think you should learn the Mandala (political model) concept first, rather than including random kingdoms that tends to complicating the map.Gunkarta (talk) 16:12, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

It is one of the settlements mentioned by the Philippines' earliest historical record, the Laguna Copperplate Inscription. It stretches its territories from the mouth of the Pasig river to the Kapampangan chiefdoms up to the Southern Luzon southwards to Bicolandia, making it the largest Kingdom that covered the most of Luzon.
