Geocoding[edit]

Hi Greg! It's nice to see more people getting interested of the geocoding project, and I sure am glad that my work is appreciated. Thanks for the reward! In return, I extended my geocodingtodo tool to list images yet to be geocoded, and it can now list images by uploader as well. See a gallery of your photos here. They're all really good photos, and I'm sure people browsing Commons images by location will be happy to see them. Thanks for participating! --Para 11:01, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Geocoding map overlay[edit]

Hello, we create a subpage for map overlay, perhaps you test and prove the instructions as a native english speaker: Commons:Geocoding/overlay. Thats would be nice. Perhaps the page can also help you. Greetings from Germany. --Kolossos 14:00, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

deprecated function in your monobook.js[edit]

Dear user, I noticed that you use the includePage function in your monobook.js page.

This function is now obsolete, as the importScript function was introduced with rev:35064 to the MediaWiki Javascript core library wikibits.js. It also keeps track of already imported files.

To allow us to remove includePage from Mediawiki:Common.js I'd kindly ask you to replace its use with importScript (same syntax!). Thanks! --Dschwen 17:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

King George Sound[edit]

G'day, Ive uploaded all the images seperately as you asked as King_George_Sound_Panoramic_01.jpg to King_George_Sound_Panoramic_05.jpg if you would like to stitch them together. Good luck with it all. If you want another job that is the same sort of thing I could upload all the Green's Pool images for you to do the same thing with. Let me know Best regards --Hughesdarren (talk) 07:24, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for rotating that image. I did look at it and before I uploaded it and somehow thought it made sense the other way, but it makes a lot more sense now. --KenWalker (talk) 07:57, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Overlay on Commons[edit]

Gobeirne,

Thanks for the feedback on Wikipedia regarding the template.

Just thought I would let you know that I have ported Wikipedia:Template:Overlay over to here at Commons, but it is called overlay legend.

I do not come over to Commons all that often, so if there are any issues with the port it will be probably be quicker to contact me at Wikipedia:User talk:Pee Tern

Photo Suggestion[edit]

May I suggest to add to your photos, Christchurch City Council civic offices (current)? Nz26 (talk) 03:56, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You for the Wikipedia Picture[edit]

Hello, My name is Duane Hurst and I recently made a free (non-commercial) English web site to share information with people. I added links to your Wikipedia/Wikimedia freeware picture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SilburyHill_gobeirne.jpg I also gave credit to you on my web pages for your work. Thank you for sharing with the public. My website is:

http://www.freeenglishsite.com/

I add pictures such as yours to one of the following major sections of my site: 1. World section - contains information and over 10,000 images of every world country and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/index.htm

2. USA section - contains information and images of every USA state and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/usa/index.htm

3. English section - "Mel and Wes" lessons in conversation format. Stories are located in various USA states and world countries such as China, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Thailand. Each lesson has many slang terms and idioms, which I link to my Slang Dictionary. This eventually will have over 5,000 terms. Currently, it has about 3,000 slang and idioms. I regularly add new lessons and slang terms. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/lessons/index.htm Slang Dictionary link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/slang/Eslang_a.htm

Prior to retirement, I taught English at several private and public universities in the United States.

Please share this free site with your friends. I hope all will enjoy the pictures and find the English information useful. Sincerely,  Duane Hurst in Utah, USA

Arthur Dudley Dobson memorial[edit]

52 Longfellow Street

Kia ora Greg, just a courtesy note that I've made use of the great photo you took many years ago of the Arthur Dudley Dobson memorial. And with a bit of luck, the photo will feature on the Wikipedia homepage on 18 April. Schwede66 04:28, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much! The article looks great - can't wait to see it on the homepage. Take care. gobeirne (talk) 00:47, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, I'm working on Cecil Wood's article at the moment and it explains why 52 Longfellow Street is a heritage building. If you ever come near Longfellow Street, maybe you could take some up to date photos. Hope the building is in good shape! Schwede66 19:19, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
